Sanitäter German medic (World War II)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- During the Second World War, the German Army had a well organized and highly skilled medical service.
The Sanitäter, popularly known as “Sanis” were always on the frontline with combat troops, ready to jump in to help wounded men.

THATS SO TRUE LOL xD
True and it’s sad
I wouldn't find it weird if both sides had their share of sadistic nations. The Soviet Union was one country very open to their targeting of medics.
I know that scene it was when desmonds partner handed him a new helmet
@@jckcc America did target those too as well as the Germans did.
Also both sides camouflaged sometimes their vehicle and draw a red cross on top of it to smuggle weapons towards / away from the front.
Once this was found out by both sides they also started bombing such vehicles with precision under the claim that it could be fake.

i dont know if that story is true, but i was told the following by a veteran: A US sergeant was bleeding out from a wound, screaming for a medic. it was a german sanni that heared him first and seeing the condition of the man, emmediately started to help him. eventually a medic came too and both worked together. when they were finished, the sanni was completely surrounded. It is a medics duty to help any person in need with the same level of care, enemy or not. In reality today an enemy medic would be kept as retained personnel and yes, many sergeants were and are great people/ leaders and are beloved

German Sanitäter (medics), are often called smurfs in german army today, because of their blue line shoulder pads and beret.

Medic: I'm protected by the Geneva convention, no one can touch me.
Soviet Soldier: I'm about to end this man's whole career.
Quite literally
I know it is a joke but you are not protected by the Geneva if you are actively engaging enemy troops even as medic. The directive by the German army that said medics were combatants removed the protections by the Geneva convention.
See the clause:
Medics and other non combatent personal shall be respected and protected if they are carrying out these duties at the time when they come into contact with the enemy or fall into his hands. This means that in the case they are NOT carrying out the duties of medication and firing upon enemy soldiers they are fair game 😬😬😬

Sanitäter: First?
My grandfather was a German Sanitäter in ww2. He told me many stories. When a soldier got hit, he, most of the time, just injected something (I forgot what) into the wound, then covered the wound and carried the soldier to the next medical tent.
But he was also wounded many time while being on the front, especially as a medic. He got hit by granades many times and once shot by a tracer ammunition into the chest, but survived because the bullet was stopped by his singing book and Russian dictionary. He's now 96 years old and still in good condition.

But this video is clearly about German medics being targeted purposely despite it being a war crime. So why say Japanese? When it's American and Russian soldiers that their talking about?

Its a medics job, just like a doctor in the hospital. A medics job is to be as calm as humanly possible, otherwise it can make the situation worse.
