Great Review! Thank you! Looking for info/opinions: So, 3 of us are getting our firsr yaks next year. All in our 50s. One has been selected - FF Moken 10.5 for a female friend of mine The other 2 will be for big boys. 6 foot 300 and 6-2 325. 85% of the time will be for rec use on flat calm water w minimal current if any. The other 15% - maybe some stationary fishing - anchored. We want paddle yaks only. Since we need minimum #500 capacity, and reviewed every single yak made, here was our original cut down list: The Lure 13.5 V2 Old Town Sportsman Vanhunks Elite Pro Angler Vibe Sea Ghost 130 Now down to: The Lure and the Sea Ghost After taking hull, seat, and user weight and subtracting it from the max, the Sea Ghost had a lot more usable weight remaing. That being said, take me for example -with the Lure Id have #65 pounds left to reach capacity. Usually id just have a drink cooler, beach towel, and some misc - say a total of #20 And if fishing maybe #30. Will I be stable leisurely paddling, sitting and fishing, just normal yak usage? Or will I be at the water line? We'll be on no rough water, no batteries and alike. Just simple use but need fishing yak for weight. Which would you choose and why? I spec'd everything out that you can but it's gonna be in the 20s next week and trying them anytime soon is not an option....for like 4 or 5 months. Any and all info greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the great review and happy paddling. 😂
So true . I've searched and searched. I just bought the V2 13.5 with OD although mine came with high back gravity seat and winter camo . Its still dry docked do to weather. Tomorrow might be the day
Ocean camo looks great on the boat. But disappears to other boats on the water. Fire camo is 100% vissable on water. Its like buying a chrome airplane, it disappears in the sky. If you want to be seen and be safe, nevee buy a blue boat for the water. Just my opinion cause i have almost hit several blue kayaks since you can not see them until you get really close. Yes if all you are doing is looking for other boats you will still see it. Just saying i feel i get way tl close before i notice them while on Lake Washinton in a 25 foot twin engine boat. Be seen and be safe. Or use a bright orange flag or dont get mad that boast get close to you before they turn to avoid hitting you. Just my advise, take it or leave it.
I hear you. My main kayak is ocean and I sell a lot of winter/desert camo to my customers. I recommend a flag or bright paddle to help with visibility. I fish a lot of skinny water but have an orange PFD and use a flag if I'm on water with motorized boats.
Thanks for the info. Not much defense in price for the 13.5 vs. 11.5. What would you recommend for someone that fish's mainly rivers 13.5 or 11.5? I'm learning toward the 11.5.
I've used both on rivers and they both work great. The 11.5 does turn faster because of the shorter keel but the 13.5 holds more gear. So depends. Either would work great.
How many scupper holes are there and does it come with the plugs? If not how many will I need? Will the plugs also fit the drain in the front cooler area / hatch?
It comes with 2 fewer plugs than there are holes because you never want to plug them all. Especially not in the back, the tankwell will fill with water from paddle splash. The plug in the cooler area is smaller than a scupper - you could probably use a wine cork or something like it.
Hi Diego - I put the boats away because its so cold, but the hull is exactly the same as the old version on the bottom. A milk crate is going to be bigger than the front lid. But I'm sure you could figure out a way to secure it with the bungee system.
I’m wondering about the lurefish 13.5 v2 pedal drive in terms of water ingress. I’ve seen quite a few videos on UA-cam where water always seems to enter the boat when peddling especially at sea. I guess you have to accept some coming in, but I’m wondering how dry and experience you will get in a feel free. I notice the H-Mirage drives appear to let in less water, especially in the sea. Probably a difficult question to answer, you would need lots of hands on experience at Sea/lakes to know.
The 11.5 will take on some water if you are over 200 lbs. The 13.5 doesn't take nearly as much. The longer keel it floats much higher in the water. I run scupper plugs in the front of the 11.5 but none in the 13.5.
@@SmallCraftFisherman Thanks for the explanation, in the end I preferred the Old Town Predator over the lurefish, just my subjective choice everything considered and its great boat, although I am sure the lurefish is excellent too. keep safe, regards.

Can you please show us under the boat like the hull, also does a milk Crate fit on the new Lid ? thanks!!

Looks like the only true height adjustable seat on a pedal kayak. Would the 13.5 be best for saltwater fishing, especially in choppy water?
I know lots of people that use them in big water/salt.

Nice video why is the boat heavier
I need to ask witch in your opinion paddles better with fastest respond moken 12.5v2 or lure 13.5 v2?
Moken 12.5v2 is hands-down the fastest of the two.
Would love to see an on the water review
Hoping to do one soon, this was a customers (already sold).
What type of kayak cart would you suggest for a 11.5 v2 kayak?
For the 11.5 I really like the Suspenz HD cart. I have strapped a Lure on it and pulled my kids 12 blocks and it was smooth and easy to do.
could you fit an old model lid on? i enjoyed the cutting board
It doesn't appear so. The cooler part itself looks the same but the way it attaches and size of the new front lid is different.
Is this a 2020? If so or not how can u tell the difference??
Yes it is. The V2s will be 2020 and up. Last two digits in the serial number on the hull is year manufactured.
Will the pedal drive works for the version I model 13.5
Indeed! The 13.5 has always had the removable sonar pod that can be retrofitted to have the pedals.
Can you stand on this kayak?
For sure!
Will a black pack with rod holders on the sides fit in that tank well
I would think so. They fit in the old version and the tankwell is the same. If you have the dimensions I can measure it to confirm.
this is my dream kayak, but the price is the same as my income for a year so I can't have it😭😭
