  • I tested the balsa POD with carbon strips at wings joint part. I could toss harder than earlier without any breaks.

Enjoyed your commentary 👍 and loved how it was flying in thermal mode. You didn't need to use your brakes for the hand catch. Congratulations on the development of your DIY 1,5m DLG 👏👏👏👏

Thank your words Carl! I am waiting for the Spring, but maybe we can catch some nice weather for glidings. I hope that you will enjoy your new 4ch DLG's flights too!

Great Peter! I gotta be honest I like the new plastic pod you made for the yellow plane better, but it looks like you have the wood pod sorted out. Awesome man!

Thank you Daniel! I hope that I can reach a strong balsa POD, but it is also possible to change the whole fuse for a better glider if it is necessary. I like your forum thread to see some nice glider constructions to improve our building skills. Thank you!

It is a very nice glider and will thermal well! I wonder if you could pre-laminate some carbon (or fibreglass) onto a thin balsa sheet before making the fuse to gain little more strength without weight?

Thank you Phil! I think that the post-reinforcement allows a simpler construction when cutting the balsa, but maybe I will do a test, as you write. This balsa pod is quite suitable for me, but I varnished it after making it, and then coated the lower parts with fiberglass material, but not the upper parts. Then I reinforced the area of the wing-capturing cross plates with 2 pieces of vertical carbon tape, so that it would hold the side plates together enough for each take-off. I like that the servos are freely removable and can then be reused in another fuselage or even replaced due to the screw mountability. Also because of the relatively simple wing attachment.

@@goldenfish77 if you make your own laminated sheet before cutting and gluing the parts you might need less reinforcement!

@@bracesport OK, I will give a chance to it in the future! Thank you Phil!
