I built my first motorized thermal glider from scratch. It was inspired by Andrew Newton's motor gliders. So I decided to build one. It is very easy to build and you can improve and replace the parts if you want. The wingspan is 2m and the AUW is about 500g. ESC: Firmware Electronic Speed Controller Esc 40A ( I think it is more than enough for this setup.) Motor: 9imod D2830 1300KV 3.175mm Brus...

      Hi, I don't know what you meant? What remote control do you have? It is difficult to explain the settings of each flight mode and the launch mode on the remote control, but there is a description that you can follow to set it yourself. I found such a page for you: rc-soar.com/edgetx/basics/flightmodes/index.php And one like this: www.rc-thoughts.com/2019/07/dlg-launch-and-zoom-mode/ This is a very useful little description, I remember I also used this: www.armsoar.com/pages/initial-glider-setup I hope that it helps for you!

      @@goldenfish77 Thank you for your time and effort directing me to these sites. I'm familiar with EdgeTx, what I was asking was not the tutorial for particular radio, bet control surface ideology. For example what means launch mode? Both ailerons a little bit down as in case of flaps? But I will try to find those answers in your links. Thanks again.

    • @goldenfish77
      @goldenfish77 Місяць тому

      @@Mr.Laidukas Yes, but after launch mode you can set a zoom mode immediately with a time switch. So you activate launch mode, then you toss away the glider and then you release the launch mode switch and then a timer will automatically start approx. for 2-3 seconds, which allows the plane to fly high with the least air resistance by lowering all the wings. Good luck for the first flights!

    Hi mate, nice build. How do you program the two aileron servos to work either together (for brake, thermal mode etc) , or opposite for banked turns?

    • @goldenfish77
      @goldenfish77 6 місяців тому

      Hi, there are four channels for the four servos. Of these, 1 servo is the elevator, 1 servo is the side rudder and 2 servos are the aileron. The ailerons occupy two channels, the throttle and the brake. Yes, it's a bit complicated to describe, but I tried. On my radio, approx. There is room for 8 flight modes and these must be marked for each flight mode, which aileron should be deployed. In English, you have to build the program thinking about the different movements, what you want, what happens when you press a lever or switch. There are many different types of programming, almost everyone has a different way of controlling and switching and activating flight modes. I couldn't find a suitable program anywhere either, so I made one for myself, the logic of which I know. After that, you always copy that one program to your machines, just modify them a little. The point is that you have to play with the - and + directions so that when you want to brake with the ailerons, both wings have to move down. I was also able to achieve joint movement by trial and error, because it doesn't matter what mode the remote is in (mode 1, mode 2), and the AETR sequence also affects what happens. It's hard to describe it this way, but maybe someone here on YT has already made a video about it. Maybe here: ua-cam.com/video/mFxP_WRzsNM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DavidJust

      @@SupraBp1 Úgy emlékszem, hogy a kisebb, rövidebb szervó karokat használtam föl (négy ágú, ebből levágtam hármat), amelyeken alapból csak egy db luk volt. Kb. 0,6cm a hosszuk. Azt hiszem, hogy kellett valamit mókolni, hogy elférjenek, talán fejjel lefelé kellett őket a motorra tenni...egy pici CA -val talán rögzítve, hogy le ne essenek menet közben.

      Kezdem egyre jobban megkedvelni ezt a kis glidert. Berendeltem egy motor szettet, hátha sikerül hozzá épteni egy hajót is...és persze hátha lesz valaki, aki segít is működésre bírni. ;)

      Thank you! Yes, it is. It is very smooth, I think. I feel that it has not got any drag.

      @@goldenfish77 have you set up a thermal mode yet - if so, does it slow it down?

      Yes, I set up the thermal modes. Yeah it will help me, when the gliding is too fast. If this glider is so good, how can yours be? OMG ;)

      Yes, I think that factory gliders are very smooth. But we are able to make nice DIY composit wings too for some enjoable flights. Thank you Antonis!

      Thank you Daniel! You told me that I will enjoy it. I just had to sand the throwing peg to be able to let go in time.

      Thank you! I do not know that I could see your 1m glider's flights. I am thinking about the motorized thermal gliders because our park is too small for DLGs. I think this field could be enough for a landing and a take off area.

      @goldenfish77 that would be a cool project! I wonder what a good weight is for a 1.5m electric scratch...hmmmmmmmmmm lol 😎👍

      @@amonus-air2160 There is a cool homebuilt project on YT in this theme. I will link it. Yes, it would be a great project. I think that the weight have to be similar just the ingredients have to be weaker than the DLG's strong constructin.

      Thank you! Yes, I think that this DLG would like to fly after some rest. I like that it is 1m because our park is so small now. I hope that you enjoy your factory DLG too!
