The best possible talismans are: Shard of Alexander, Rotten Wing Sword Insignia, Lord of Blood Exultation, Millicent's Prosthesis. For buffs use flame grant me strength and golden vow. These can be applied after entering the boss fight and during the phase change. Rivers of blood is a somber weapon, meaning really easy to make it to +9. Additional information: More things can be added to be way more powerful and ready for this fight like what you put in your physick like dex knot tear and the thorny cracked tear. The physick is really important and can make you way stronger in terms of raw damage. Since most bosses kill you in 1-3 hits no point making the physick heal you. Other damage boosting or stat boosting options are welcome. Also lots of armor sets can boost stats like arcane or have other effects. Using the white mask increases damage after a bleed on top of everything else. Finally using good armor, a shield, and endure weapon art, with some Pickled Turtle Neck for short stamina boost for shielding and Crab meat for physical damage reduction paired with endure giving 45% damage reduction you don't even have to dodge at all. If you are still scared of waterfowl dance you can use a frost pot at her, she will fall and be staggered, and will take more physical damage as well.
it needs to be noted that i don't think you can get Rotten Wing Sword Insignia and Millicent's Prosthesis in the same save file. you have to choose one and then you can get both in ng+. i would go with Rotten Wing Sword Insignia in ng because it's harder to get and then you can wuickly get millicent's prosthesis in ng+
I beat her as well, completely overleveled with a mimic tear and the giant greathammer and frost damage. My mimic buddy and me just pummeled her, so she either doesn't do her owl dance or you pray she focusses on the mimic. Just remember: Malenia needs to beat you every single time. You just need to beat her once! There comes a time when RNG is on your side. You can do it! Learn her basic moves and with a bit of luck you can stay alive as you panic roll through her dance attack. You can be skillful, you can also be lucky. I chose the latter!
I advise people to try and beat it without crutches but you gotta do what you gotta do. Mimic tear is crazy overpowered and does the fight for you, literally. It's all subjective though, if you want to fight every boss this way all power to you!!
That's the beauty of Elden Ring. There are so many ways to take on fights. I agree that the satisfaction of beating her 1v1 is immense, and it's such a beautiful fight. Thanks for watching and letting us know your thoughts!
They gave the bosses insane movesets and combos in Elden Ring so they gave you op items to combat it. I don’t think encouraging people to handicap themselves on a first play through is right.
the scarlet aeonia can be dodged fully if u just sprint sideways as soon as she starts to dive and be careful that scarlet rot is dangerous. I am at NG+4 and damn that shits does like million dmg
Another way to dodge waterfowl dance that I use is that I sprint straight away from her first attack and very importantly jump once she starts the first, then dodge the rest like he did.
@actintuffgaming jumping gives you the little boost you need to avoid it. As long as you survive the first you can dodge the second 2 once you get the timing down so a lot of it is just practicing your timing.
Here's how I do it: Be a total coward, use frenzied burst and keep your distance. That's it. First phase is super easy because she will mostly walk menacingly towards you without attacking. If you keep your distance right, you can kill her first phase without her attempting a single attack. Second phase is tougher because of some flying attacks, but it's mostly the same. I don't use a summon with this tactic because it makes her unpredictable and your summon usually heals her a lot by being hit, so it ends up doing more harm than good.
my go to Malenia cheese is just putting Giants Hunt on any weapon that can have it and just stun-lock her every time she tries to gets up use mimic to bully her extra
I swtg I’ve mastered this entire bosses moveset. I get to her second phase without damage but the clone move and the random waterfowl dances have killed me every single time. It feels so unbalanced
Youre not alone, bro. I hate that waterfowl dance does so much damage. Imo, one shot mechanics should have an easy telegraph and be easy to moderately difficult to avoid. Waterfowl has an easy telegraph but is one of the hardest attacks to avoid in the game.
Currently here at the moment. Can get through phase 1 pretty well but die so easily to waterfowl and sometimes the clone attack. Problem is to get experienced at phase 2 you have to go through the entire phase 1 which takes so many tries Edit: finally got her and then the platinum trophy shortly after. Got lucky with RNG and managed to keep pressure on in the 2nd phase so she didn't get a chance to do any big attacks
the "how to not git gud guide". Spamming Corpse Piler bleed AoW, most broken shit in the game, bleed procs are literally free 10.5% max health damage per proc, as it is a passive effect from just attacking normally. Corpse piler hits clearly do both normal R1 damage as well as ridiculous bleed build-up. 3 bleed procs in the first phase means bleed practically reduced her MX HP by 31.5% fucking percent, NEARLY 1/3rd of her HP gone.. FOR FREE. By just playing with bleed Malenia first phase goes from having 18.473 HP to 12.654 HP. As if playing with 1 crutch, reducing the boss' max health by a third, wasn't enough of an easy mode, we need a second, letting mimic tear take all aggro so you can freely do damage in the second phase. It actually also looks like a 4th bleed proc between phase shifts actually carried over, lmao wtf. 2nd phase sees 1 frostbite proc, that's 7% max health damage, counting the carry-over proc - 4 bleed procs, 51% of her hp gone to just status procs, and that's not even counting all the other passive damage from the mimic.... This is why I hate this f-ing game, playing with status is so goddamn overpowered I've never seen anything like it. Throw in spirt ash summons and It is literally just crutch game-journalist easy mode, literally can't lose, even if you tried. Actually this ain't just relying on crutches this is being on a whole ass mobility scooter.
You're exactly right about this not being the "git gud guide." The fact that we are able to do this is one of the things that makes Elden Ring unique and accessible to more players than previous FromSoftware titles. Dark Souls got me back into gaming because I was addicted to the challenge it presented and the thrill it provided when conquering tough bosses. Elden Ring is somewhat missing that feeling of having to just "git gud" in order to break through the wall. However, I appreciate why they made this design choice. Souls veterans like us can still choose to play that way, and new players can make builds like this in order to play a game in a genre they once thought was inaccessible. Elden Ring gives players the choice to play however they want, and even though it's not my favorite FromSoftware title, I think that's awesome. I totally understand wanting people to experience the feeling of having no crutches and just having to get better in order to beat a boss, and hopefully new players that fell in love with Elden Ring will give Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and Sekiro a chance in order to experience that because I think there's nothing else quite like it in gaming.
@@actintuffgaming I just really dislike it because it creates a huge gap in player experience between those who play with status (and the free kamehameha sorcery build for that matter) and those who don't. Those who play with status effects have, I would say, such a much easier time with the game that it gives a false impression of the game's actual difficulty, and you never actually get good at the game. I know, my first playthrough was dual katanas, I got to Leyndell with that build and was like "damn this game is too easy", and made a new character without bleed, and the experience was VASTLY different. It is so close to cheesing the game that I would say every victory is unearned. Like how can winning like this not feel hollow? Empty? Passive effects and an NPC, in large part, won the fight for you. I don't think this kind of "accessibility" is good for the franchise's identity, or the playerbase for that matter. Sacrificing a game's core identity, brutal but fair difficulty, on the alter of "accessibility" by letting scrubs level the playing field with overpowered game mechanics so they never learn, is not a good idea, and I hope it doesn't continue. Just look at WoW and how that game has completely degenerated over time in the pursuit of "accessibility". Good accessibility (in my opinion) isn't giving the player an elevator straight to the top of the mountain, it is giving them some weak tools to make the climb slightly easier some of the way there, but ultimately, it is expected that the player learns to play without relying on the tools and it is still in the player's hands to overcome the challenge, not beating it for them.
@@boredgamer7841 I agree with a lot of what you said. If this becomes the norm for fromsoftware games moving forward it could potentially become an issue. I still think it's a good thing for Elden Ring and the genre as a whole because it gets more people into something we love. It will be a problem if it fundamentally changes the genre we love, though. I'm definitely curious to see what the next FromSoftware game has in store. I appreciate the thoughtful, respectful discussion, dude!
@@actintuffgaming After our conversation I had to go watch "World Of Warcraft is Garbage - An essay" and nearly all the points he makes about accessibility can also be applied to Elden Ring. Could recommend giving that a watch.

Man, u just helped me defeat her. Been trying for days especially for her phase 2. Thanks!!
I can melt her in phase 1, and then she melts me in phase 2. ( im trying to beat her without a summon.)
Took me about 30 times and I got it while doing this thanks once again always coming in clutch
Great job! I appreciate the support!

Mimic tear with a high stagger weapon is extremely good at Malenia. She just can’t stay on her feet against two greatswords

Step 1/ Siderolls
Step 2/ Siderolls
Step 3 / Practice timing
Step 4/ Never greed. Always recreate safety distance after 2, 3 hits.

Step 6/ Yes. It's that simple. No need far-fetched NASA methods.
