    I am very happy cause youtube recomend me last times new modelers that work on their own way. A flew of fresh air between a lot of modeler who use same technics and same products with very similar results.
    Thakns for inspiring us.

      I agree, UA-cam always seems to push the same modelers when I'm looking at build videos. I only found this channel because of a short showing the Sky Raider.
      Gary's Stuff is a refreshing channel to watch as well. Initially Gary seems like a boring middle aged man, but one soon learns to love his videos and knowledge of the subject he is building.

    Love the rivets! A heads up from a USMC 6132 that spent plenty of time fixing them, those rotor blades are the composite type. Give away is the square attachments. Leading edge would be covered with rubber sheet. Easily duplicated with black tape.

    Not a chinook but its kid brother, when I was drafted to the Swedish Navy Ieventually ended up on the coast defence forces helicopter base where we had five of these, one was the protype, number uno of the builds and they were converted to various tasks. some for submarine hunting which was conducted in pairs. One finding the target while the other attacking it. Back then The Swedish Airforce used same type of helicopters mainly for rescues missions and I got to fly with these big birds occationally, not as a pilot but as a passenger and it was cool.

    I'm curious what glue you are using on those clear parts. The applicator looks like an extra thin. But that would affect the clear parts.

    • @ugurkenel
      @ugurkenel  Місяць тому

      I use CA glue, in the safest spots, like corners, away from windows. Then, if I want it to be more strong attachment, I use a little Extra thin. Watch my last video, I explained it there too.

      @ugurkenel  3 місяці тому

      Yes i have used Tamiya Thin Cement. Mostly i use even CA glue. Trick is, you have to polish your clear parts before. Dipped in polishing fluids or polishing with compounds, both works. Never makes fume. But ofcourse, limited amount of glue. 🙂

      Be careful using thin cement. It is too thin, you know. If there is a panel line on the clear part, Thin cement may extend over clear part that you dont want. Be sure that the area you will touch with thin cement must be safe from clear surface.

    It's the first time that I see a modeller making a serious effort to remove excessive wide panel lines. I would have used old-fashioned putty by Revell or Tamiya, so using superglue for this purpose is completely new to me. 6:11 A more simple and time-saving method to open such air inlets is heating an (old) metal hobby knife over a candleflame and melt the plastic away, so there is not so much force necessary. 10:45 Such rivet decals are also completely new to me, seems I'm not up to date. The point is, are the rivets really so prominent that you can see them ? I looked for photos of the real chopper on the internet, but I couldn't find photos with so prominent visible rivets, similar to the ones on the model. On most photos they are flush and at most very faintly visible (under certain light conditions). So I'm not very convinced about this new technique, it's like "to kill the patient with the cure". Moreover many of the rivet decals are visibly twisted, hardly conceivable on the real helo...

    • @ugurkenel
      @ugurkenel  Місяць тому

      A CH-46 without rivets is absolutely unacceptable to me. I can't say anything about the rivets being so obvious. In many photos, they are very obvious due to the light, but in some they are not.
