Not to be negative at all, but hairloss interventions like nutrofol or a laser or anything, need to be proven on people who have chronic hairloss or excessive shedding, not just on people whose hairloss is due to a short term stressor or hormonal shift such as postpartum hairloss. Those temporary sheds remedy on their own with time and thus attributing improvement to any intervention can be deceiving. As a chronic hair shedder of 20 years, I have recognized this.
Chronic shedding can be such a frustrating experience, so I’m sorry that you’ve been going through that. What I like about this supplement is that the study was performed against a control group who did not get the supplement - demonstrating that the hair growth observed wasn’t just secondary to the patient “recovering” from a hormonal shift or stressful event. Those who took Nutrafol had significantly more regrowth and I find that compelling.
@@DrSamEllis Thank you for your kind reply. That's great that they have done some extensive studies on nutrofol. I've been to quite a few derms, and had lots of bloodwork, and am currently on oral monoxidil, spironilactone, and LLLT. Theres been improvement in the thickness, but still excessive shedding. Its tough, but I don't have it as bad as some others, since my scalp density is pretty good, the length retention just isn't there. Your channel is great. Thanks again!
@@salehasaeed1702 its been about 2 yrs on .25 monox and 50 mg spiron. Been doing irestore for over 2 yrs. I am losing less hair, but still a lot each day. Nothing wrong with my bloods. I also have itching and crawly sensations on my scalp, which my doc says can go along with excessive shedding.
I’ve been using an electric toothbrush since my dentist mentioned it to me decades ago and I have never been happier. I like the basic OralB for simple design and effective round brushes.
I caved in after two years and invested in Dyson Airwrap and I'm so happy I did! It gives me that polished look you're describing so well! Need those gloves for gel manicure lol
Being in my 70's now, there are so many of these beauty investments that I wish my 30-year-old self would have known about, so I really do hope that many of your followers will take your advice and implement them into their lives - not just for vanity's sake but for actual health and to avoid skin cancer.
But it looks like Nutrafol put a good amount of iodide and selenium to balance the biotin? I’m curious to know if a high dosage of biotin can mess up the thyroid.
Good video and I just looked at the ingredients in Nutrafol and no surprise that collagen is in it. Many of the key ingredients are supplements I have been taking for some time and my hair has gotten super thick. I appreciate your honesty about all the information you share. Thanks so much. Also, a Part 2 would be great.
Oh totally invest in a water pic flosser. Better than manual flossing. The hardwired one not the battery powered one. My dentist is always amazed. She calls me a boring patient.
Would love a part 2 ❤ I love carrying a lighter water bottle and was on the fence about the floss and you just made me hit the buy button! Thank you for sharing your video!!❤
Part 2 please! I also use Omnilux face and décolletage mask. I purchased a LED panel last year and I alternate between the masks and the panel. I also love my ZIIP device.
I love coolibar too and use the fully covered ones to drive where I live in Australia. I use their hats, sun shirts and don’t care if I look weird at all!
I'm just curious, is it really the Nutrifol that helped, or nature? You and my daughter were pregnant at the same time. She took nothing, and all of her hair has grown back. Opinions? Thanks!
I can personally say that Nutrafol (recommended by my derm), absolutely worked for me. Different topic question (related to facial skin): I re-found an expensive makeup brush that was put away dirty in a bag in a drawer like three years ago-will any amount of washing this brush make it clean to use again or is it ruined with bacteria? Love your channel! ❤
Part 2, please! I do have the Dyson Airwrap and the iRestore Elite hair helmet! Game changer, but you're right...PATIENCE is the key! I'm going on a year and a half of using it, and there is a difference. I am sad that my hair is not silky anymore, though. It's feeling quite dry and lackluster. Any tips for that? Love the Coco floss, too. I have the Omnilux mask, but it stopped working-no power. Wahhh....such an expensive investment gone. Going to buy those gloves! Thanks for being so awesome!
I thought there was going to be more info about fuller hair. Would love another video dedicated to this. You do have beautiful teeth. I use and love desert essence tea tree oil dental tape. It is very grippy and more affordable. It is 6 packs at 30yds each for $3.71 on Amazon.
Just a warning to breastfeeding mamas… I’m 3 months pp and tried nutrafol because of my derms recommendation but it gave my poor baby the WORST stomach cramps and pain. So painful he wouldn’t even let me massage or touch his stomach. I only used it for 3 days and his cramps started the day I started it and ended the day after I quit. Upon further investigation, high levels of biotin can cause nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps for those that take it (which I saw in some of the 1 star Amazon reviews) and I never had those issues taking it but my baby definitely got stomach cramps from it and my diet is very strict so there weren’t any changes in my diet so it’s definitely from the vitamin. The recommended daily biotin for breastfeeding mamas is 35mg and this vitamin contains like 3,000mg.. They claim it’s “breastfeeding friendly” but if you notice your baby is uncomfortable after starting it, I would definitely stop taking the vitamins. It’s not worth it, our hormones will naturally regulate eventually.
I wish the Omnilux worked for me. The nose piece was really uncomfortable and the only way I could use it was laying down which didn’t feel practical. I’m going to spring for a small panel soon I think.
I have Lupus and get infusions every month for the last 11 yrs, last year I lost all of my hair.I tried every serum , shampoo there is out there nothing helped until I got a electric scalp massager with red light and use 10 in 1 hair growth serum. My hair has grown about 3 inches and very thick Im so happy with my results.
The instructions say not to. They generally say to use red light on bare skin, although tea serums have been shown to accelerate the benefits in some studies, according to Mito.
Thanks for the recommendations!! I've been using Viviscal for years and it's always worked wonders for me. I've always had very thick hair but after having 2 girls (8 & 10 now), I started using right away and my hair has always remained not only thick but very shiny and healthy for years! 😊 Also, anyone needing extra hydration, the Hydrogen water bottle bottle is great for athletes, improves memory, boosts energy, anti aging and weight control. Just benefits from this Hydrogen water bottle:) xoxo. Skincare, use products for YOUR skin types (goodal is a great brand) AWESOME vit C!! I've found that medical grade Skincare works best. Better to invest in good Skincare than makeup! Skinceuticals CE frulic is great. Just keep doing your research and remember sometimes less is more 🙂. Also I use my Vital collagen peptides drink mix for years now. That also keeps my hair, skin, nails and joints feeling great 👍. It's so easy, just shake it in water and your good. You have to drink your water anyways 😊
Re: postpartum hairloss. You lose hair because of the shift in hormones. You will grow your hair back as your hormones normalize with or without supplements.
Absolutely! I didn’t feel like I could call that an investment (in good faith) because it was gifted by the brand. But I do think it’s worthwhile and has helped!
Dentist, Dr Ellie Phillips has a superior oral care program using products you buy from the store. The one exception is the Xylitol mints & gum she recommends. If you do this program, you don’t even need floss.
Great video! Love all these tips! Quick question regarding nutrafol...is this product similar to minoxidil in that you need to use it everyday to maintain hair growth? And if you stop it, would the hair that has grown with the help of it, fall out? Thanks Dr. Ellis!
I think it may be different because it doesn’t have any medication/chemical compounds but vitamins/minerals? Curious to hear! My derm recommended it and I’m breastfeeding. I wonder, too, if you have to take it forever!
Fun to watch. I’ve been using LED for face (about 3 years) and hair restore (about 6 months) and it makes a difference. Have been wearing Lululemons running sleeves for driving, which come over the hand with a thumb hole. Might give the gloves a try. Yes, Part 2 please :). Thank you!
Nutrafol only works if your system isn't bothered by Biotin. I've taken Nutrafol for over 6 months did great for my hair, but it wreaked my skin...I found out that Biotin isn't good for all skin types, especially if you are prone to acne.
Do u feel it’s ok to take oral minoxidil the rest of your life just to have hair on my head? I have TE, I’m sure it’s from stress. I do have PCOS but I’ve read that hair loss is more androgen alopecia on top of ur head. Mine had thinned all over. It hasn’t stopped falling out. I’ve been on oral Minoxidil since Jan 2023, it’s def growing, I no longer have a part it’s closed up with all new hair. I just put up with hairy face and arms. I use Tretinoin so can only shave my face. I’m 48 years old.
I am over 50 with a history of breast cancer. Can I take nutrafol balance? My dermatologist recommended nutrafol a couple years ago, I just bought the regular one, not balance. I followed your link and took the quiz, and now I’m wondering if balance is safe for me?
I just got my car windows tinted and the sign said it blocks 99% UV rays. Is that just UVB? Or only untinted windows block UVB but tinted blocks UVA too? Hope so. I used to wear those gloves too but my hands get so hot when I drive. Thx for all your advice.
@@Idk-do4db Sunshield Glass Tinting. The website says "the skin cancer foundation recommends this product as an effective UV protectant" so hope it blocks UVA rays too.
Thank you so much for this video! I am so jealous of you taking Nutrafol supplements. I can't afford them right now. I might be able to in the future but I want to take it so badly! I am also jealous of the omnilux face and also the neck and decollate masks. I want those so badly but also cannot afford them. If I could afford them I would also get the hand mitt for the backs of the hands. You might want to buy one since you understand how important it is to take care of the backs of your hands. You could buy one and just take turns on your hands. If I could win the lottery I would get the whole set! The face mask, the one for the neck and decollate and two hand mitts. ha ha I don't really style my hair a lot and I used to never use a hair dryer because I heard the heat can kill your hair. So I looked it up semi-recently and the heat from hair dryers damage the cuticle which is the outside part of hair but! letting your hair air dry can over saturate the core part of your hair which I've been doing my whole life! I found this blow dryer on TikTok. It's a professional grade blow dryer but at a fraction of the cost!. It's extremely powerful and it has different heat settings! It also takes you less time to dry your hair then a traditional blow dryer. I just got mine and used it on the cool or cold setting. It only took me 8 minutes to dry my hair on the cold setting! My hair was about 95% dry which keeps my hair more healthy. It's called Tideaway. I got it on sale for $69 plus shipping. I was supposed to be able to get reimbursed for shipping but I didn't get an email with order number so I don't know how to do that. They want you to be happy with the product so they give an email you can reach out to them with but I don't have an order number for them to look up because it was bought off the TikTok shop. It's worth it anyway! There is a hot setting that is cooler than a regular blow dryer and there is also a warm setting. I hope this was helpful for you, Dr. Ellis! I'm such a fan of you. OH! and I have upf gloves that don't have tips on them as well and I know I'm protecting my hands with them.
I also wanted to try the Coco floss! I can't afford that either. It's a brand started by two sisters which one is a dentist. They said if you try to pull apart the thread sideways it shows to be many, many threads into one floss which is why it catches so much more stuff between your teeth. That's not the only reason to floss though. The other reason is to strengthen your gums. I had a dentist tell me that he thought flossing was more important than brushing your teeth because if you get a cavity you can just fill it. If you have poor gum health your teeth will eventually fall out. Keep up the flossing! :)
I can see why people want to know what you do. After all, you are in the PRIME of life, young, slim, blond and beautiful with straight white teeth. I'm 60 girl. My teeth are yellow but at least they are my real teeth. Around perimenopause, estrogen going up and down triggered the gene for HASHIMOTO'S disease which no supplement is gonna fix, and by that I mean, fix what this autoimmunity has done to my HAIR. I use K-18, wash it once a week, segmented ponytail it every day and slap a hat on it. When the pandemic started I finally just gave up on doing my roots. Who CARES? I live in the Northeast where we are all cold and hard and emotionless. I used bioidentical HRT and TESTOSTERONE, which I also know might be damaging my locks, but oh well. I work out and I want to SEE my muscles. In fact, the most important thing to me these days is EXERCISE. I walk 14+ hillly miles in western MA, and I'm hoofing it. Then I come home and use medicine balls and kettlebells and hex weights and I really am getting into total body exercises, like Thrusters. Then I get on my Peloton Tread for 30-45 minutes of incline "hiking". And I am NOT spent after all this. Okay, I'm a little spent after outside, but I recover quickly. Recover quickly after throwing some kettlebells around. After the Tread, I definitely need a shower. Then I'm a normal human after that. Sorry to go on like this, but your beautiful young smiling face will never convince me that doing what you do will turn the clock back to 30 years old for ME.
Also you are talking about a certain kind of hair loss that a lot of women experience. My hair falls out by the clumps ALL OVER MY HEAD. Hats do help. Also, if I don't wear a hat, no one recognizes me. I've been wearing them for a long time and I have HUGE hat collection.
I wear UPF gloves from Coolibar. Also, the windshield blocks 98% of all UV, both A and B. It's the SIDE windows we have to worry about. We are not always driving directly at the sun. A lot of times it hits us from one side or another. I wear UPF glove all the time, inside and outside. Now people comment on my "style". Oh, what cool gloves, they say. I wear UPF clothing from about April to October, then I wear WOOL and heavier clothes, which, judging by the skin on my body, does a pretty good job of protecting me from sun damage.
I don't think you should worry about what types of gloves you wear while driving. Asian ladies have been doing it forever without caring what others think
Hi . Could you please help . I don't wanaa go clinic because of i couldn't tell my issue due to lot of days continuously mastrubating like year . My hair is loss its biggest sad . When im realised im addicted mastrubating . Sis or mam . Im requesting plz 🙏 help me . Its my request . Any hair serums suggest or any thing plz
This video reeks of paid promotion. To regrow hair biotin is sufficient. But once you stop taking it expect hair loss. They Dyson hair wrap is just an expensive hype tool. You can drink all the water in the world, but if your electrolytes out of balance, no amount of fancy water bottles will help.
Hey there! I've been trying to contact you through email in regard to a business proposal. Could you share your email address again, in case the email address provided is not correct? Your videos are just great!
I’m surprised not to hear you talking about the led hair helmet. Are you still a fan? Ditto for virtue hair flourish line and also minoxidil. And yes, nosy person here! I love GRWM and their ilk.
I’m currently on oral Minoxidil, I’ve been on it since January 2023, it hasn’t stopped my hair loss but my hair is growing back and my part is so much thinner.
_This_ is a slap to the face?! How about $300+ for a doctor visit? Or a $2-3K deductible for a routine surgery. Saving hair is vanity: if you don’t have money, you live with thinning hair: nobody died from that yet. Not everything should be available to everyone. And vitamins aren’t the worst things that are not affordable to everyone who needs them.
This is a video about beauty investments, which clearly indicates the products will be expensive but in the Drs’ view they are worth the cost. Rogaine/minoxidil is a cheap alternative if you don’t want to purchase or can’t afford Nutrafol. You can also purchase the key ingredients as individual supplements.
I'm 62 I actually used a round brush 30 yrs ago and had to cut my hair 5 inches have never used one again . And in the 80s I was smoking and curling my hair I sprayed hair spray singed my hair which was long had cut to my chin lol I m a dork.anyway I'm glad I found my your channel 😊
I have loved my Dyson airwrap for about four years. Nothing has made my hair look better consistently than this tool. But for my fine thin hair it absolutely doesn’t hold a curl without massive amounts of product. Still worth it to me!
I use the waterpik water flosser (every now and then 🙈) and an electric toothbrush, and very single time I visit the dentist (once every 6 months visit), she asks me if I use an electric toothbrush because my teeth are so clean 😅 So, an electric toothbrush would be a great investment!
@@LuvanmusiqI only use the Waterpik, yes. I like that you can adjust the strength of it, I tend to use it on #8. I never use the traditional flosser. I think that what helps me the most is the 2 minute (or more when necessary) brushing with the electric toothbrush.
Can you share your thoughts on biotin alternatives for postpartum hair shedding? Biotin typically makes me break out like crazy but it's in pretty much all hair/skin supplements which is frustrating.
Thank you so much about the information regarding the gloves, I had no idea they existed. I just had a big piece of the top of my left hand removed due to squamous cell. I am going to purchase these gloves right now. BTW I grew up in LaJolla in the 50s and 60s, no sunscreen, ugh!

I use a red light mask and nanocurrent and Gua sha daily
Interesting investments 😊😊
I LOVE COCOFLOSS!!!
Wow. Nutrafol? And you're a physician? Two hepatologists recently told me that Nutrafol is highly suspected to cause liver toxicity.
Part 2
Dr. Ellis,
Can Nutrafol be used having scalp psoriasis, with the same success?
Or please offer any recommendations. Ty!
Hi could you please do a video where you wash your hair please thank you have a great day
She did a travel hair care routine video less than a year ago, that might help.
It is what it is
I don't think theirs anything wrong with requesting a video
Have a good day
I just got my car windows tinted and the sign said it blocks 99% UV rays. Is that just UVB? Or only untinted windows block UVB but tinted blocks UVA too? Hope so. I used to wear those gloves too but my hands get so hot when I drive. Thx for all your advice.
Where did you get your car window tinted?
These dermatologists study for long so as soon as they can they make the most money out of this degree. It’s all business.
Video starts at 3:50
Would love to know is the Omnilux led red light mask puts off heat?
I don't think you should worry about what types of gloves you wear while driving. Asian ladies have been doing it forever without caring what others think
If I’m already on oral minoxidil, is there any benefit in taking nutrafol in addition?
I was expecting some serious sophisticated videos 🫤
Nutrafol made me so sick. I had intense cramping, pain, and nausea. I had to stop and they were challenging to work with and get a refund.

YOUR CRAZY DOC
You are just so terrific and beautiful.
We need natural without medication you are selling your products
This video reeks of paid promotion. To regrow hair biotin is sufficient. But once you stop taking it expect hair loss. They Dyson hair wrap is just an expensive hype tool. You can drink all the water in the world, but if your electrolytes out of balance, no amount of fancy water bottles will help.
Lots of studies have debunked stand-alone biotin as a hair growth treatment and it is no longer recommended by dermatologists for this reason.
Hey there! I've been trying to contact you through email in regard to a business proposal. Could you share your email address again, in case the email address provided is not correct? Your videos are just great!
Would you be able to do a video on shampoos, conditioners and leave-ins you'd recommend? :)
I’m surprised not to hear you talking about the led hair helmet. Are you still a fan? Ditto for virtue hair flourish line and also minoxidil.
And yes, nosy person here! I love GRWM and their ilk.
Can I just say that your advice on not using straws has helped reduce my top lip creasing over the last few months.
I’m currently on oral Minoxidil, I’ve been on it since January 2023, it hasn’t stopped my hair loss but my hair is growing back and my part is so much thinner.
$88 a month for a hair vitamin, in this economy? Thats a slap to the face.
@@jkulikova sheesh, take a chill pill 🙄
@@jkulikova tell that to people with alopecia.
This is a video about beauty investments, which clearly indicates the products will be expensive but in the Drs’ view they are worth the cost. Rogaine/minoxidil is a cheap alternative if you don’t want to purchase or can’t afford Nutrafol. You can also purchase the key ingredients as individual supplements.
cannot agree more with you. The real ingredient responsible for the regrowth is biotin, which is around 10 bucks.
Can the Omnilux mask worsen Melasma?
Please answer!
I don't think the sun protective gloves are embarrassing at all. They make me think of 1960s chic women, like Audrey Hepburn or Monica Vitti!
Oooh I love this POV!
I would love to try nutrafol vitamins but I looked it up and I can't afford $88 a month
Hair stuff is generally expensive so not really a suprise.
I have loved my Dyson airwrap for about four years. Nothing has made my hair look better consistently than this tool. But for my fine thin hair it absolutely doesn’t hold a curl without massive amounts of product. Still worth it to me!
I use the waterpik water flosser (every now and then 🙈) and an electric toothbrush, and very single time I visit the dentist (once every 6 months visit), she asks me if I use an electric toothbrush because my teeth are so clean 😅
So, an electric toothbrush would be a great investment!
good to know
Hi! Do you only use the waterpik? I’ve gotten mixed feedback from hygienists from using that alone. I hate traditional flossing though 😢
@@LuvanmusiqI only use the Waterpik, yes. I like that you can adjust the strength of it, I tend to use it on #8.
I never use the traditional flosser. I think that what helps me the most is the 2 minute (or more when necessary) brushing with the electric toothbrush.
Zinc tablets are good for hair and very reasonable in price.
Personally, I am a big fan of Dr. Tung's Smart Floss.
How do you feel about the Dyson vs the Shark flex style?
Can you share your thoughts on biotin alternatives for postpartum hair shedding? Biotin typically makes me break out like crazy but it's in pretty much all hair/skin supplements which is frustrating.
What is the promo code for Nutrafol Hair Supplement?
Thank you so much about the information regarding the gloves, I had no idea they existed. I just had a big piece of the top of my left hand removed due to squamous cell. I am going to purchase these gloves right now. BTW I grew up in LaJolla in the 50s and 60s, no sunscreen, ugh!
You are so welcome!
What do you think of the NIRA laser?
Yes please to parts two, three, four - whatever you’ve got! I do use the Omnilux masks for face and neck. I do see a difference and they are so quick and easy to use.
