Black woman here who regrew my chemically damaged hair. You don't need expensive treatments, you need deep condition, cleansing, protein and to be left alone. Most people don't actually know how to wear extensions and end up causing more damage instead of protecting. Heat causes unnecessary damage, even at low temp. You need low manipulation styles like loose braids, wear a satin bonnet when sleeping to reduce moisture loss. It took me 4 years to grow my hair back.. Ive learned that rice water and other gimmicks don't lead to longterm strength, a good protective routine is what you need 💖
A sleep bonnet is the best! Helped my hair health & it also keeps its style intact while you're sleeping! Also wearing my hair in braids to sleep has helped mine.
@@BeautifulCrazyy she didn’t say that only black women can benefit from this advice though? She said “black woman here” as to identify herself as a black woman bc the profile picture doesn’t give that information. Chill lol
As a hair stylist and a person who has melted their hair (lol) this is the only advice I can give: 1) joico k pak leave in mask as well as the shampoo and conditioner. This is the only stuff that made my hair manageable. 2) no heat or hair tools if you can help it. I know it’s hard, especially when it’s so frizzy. 3) frequent hair cuts (once the bonds are broken in hair, you can try to fix them and smooth the cuticle, but honestly you just gotta let it grow and cut off the split ends so it doesn’t break anymore) 4) be patient and find cute hair styles. I became ultra proficient at Dutch braids, French braids, etc. 5) and finally whatever you do, do not get your hair lightened again… hairstylists will say that they won’t overlap lightener (they can just do a retouch, etc.). But I have been around many, many, many stylists, and they all overlap a little bit. It might look fine at the salon, but it will probably just break it more. Also demi/glosses may make the hair look shiny and softer, but they do use low volume developer which opens the hair cuticle…. Which no matter what still damages the hair. So… I would just leave it the alone as much as you can. I know it sucks, but that’s honestly it. I unfortunately had a friend “fix” my ultra lightened hair, which led to tons of breakage… I chopped it off into a pixie and after two years it’s natural and healthy. It’s a process but you can do it!
Thanks for including us! Olaplex is amazing for repairing all types of damage! It works by rebuilding the internal broken disulfide bonds. It will help to keep the hair you already have strong as it grows back.
@@adriannas95 she needs to not bleach her hair for months so that pretty much cancels out the use of 1 but she may be able to have no.2 used by a professional on her, but there is the possibility it could further cause breakage as we truly do not know the state her hair is in.
I know you’ve mentioned before that your hair gives you a feeling if security, but maybe you should think about going all in and getting it cut really short as a fresh start? I know I was chronically self conscious of my hair growing up, there wasn’t a day I didnt think about it. When I was 19 I cut it into a pixie and it completely rewired my brain I swear. It stopped being so valuable to my identity and reduced it to “just hair”. Best thing I ever did for my confidence 😊
Removing extensions and wigs constantly isn’t good for your hair regrowth. It will continue to break the hair. Especially if the breakage is in the back and that’s where you’re adding the clip in. It’s hard but you’re probably just going to have to wear your hair in loose braids or ponys with silk scrunchie because it will continue to break. The reason your hair is taking so long to dry is because it’s so damage and porous it’s holding water. I would probably stop going to the salon for a while because they will continue to convince you they can help you fix it. Olaplex should work but many of these things are not a miracle or overnight fix. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Dani Austin just released a serum for hair loss.
That's what I thought. I don't think the toupes or extensions help. They actually contribute to the damage. The clips pull the hair and also the weight of the wigs. What I don't understand is why braiding the hair helps? Also, the silk crunchues just slips right out of my hair. Useless. Why do people need to sleep with the silk crunchues too? I just read it in another comment. .
Cutting severely damaged hair is virtually the only way to regrow healthy hair. Mending split ends its a myth. Split ends and breakage can't be reversed. You can hydrate dry brittle hair. Yes. But the 2 things causing the most damage will only be solved by a good chop.
When my mom died in 2009 I was literally 19 & because of depression I cut all my hair off. It was past my butt. I cut it & dyed it cherry red. My hair didn’t grow back till 2017. I stopped dyeing it and started taking care of it. When I wanted a different color I would just buy wigs. Now 2021 my hair is back to past my butt & healthier than ever ❤️ your hair will get there Blair 🥰 keep on taking care of it !!
I have a similar story. Well, kinda. I went blonde in 2017 (I think it was bcs post-breakup things lol) and I kept it until March last year. Firstly I only dyed it blonde in december 2017 (professionally tho, but it was still so bad lol they gave me a gold-blonde and I didn't like that) and a year after in 2018 I cut them collarbone length and they were waist length before. I kept that blonde until 2020 as I already mentioned and in those 2 1/2 years it barely grew. Like, it only grew to where my breast kind of starts and the ends were very thin and damaged and the hair per se as well. March 2020 I went full purple and it was beautiful. I waited for another 3 months for it to die out and redyed it with another shade of purple and that wasn't too beautiful lol it was ugly. Because of the growing out my hair went to be like 3 different shades on 3 different levels. It was like that after the 2nd purple faded out as well. Then 2021 as my depression hit me hard and I had my final exams coming up I went to a professional and let my hair dye dark brown AND IT WAS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. Like already with the 2nd purple my hair got to grow a little more but that brown was the final "go!" for my hair and oh they have grown so fast and so fully and wavy. A little time after that brown I actually went black on my own and was wonderful as well. I'm just so glad I got out of that blonde/platinum blonde/silver hair thingy. It's really bad. I forgot to add their length: They are now at waist-length again within such a short time.
Please tell me where you purchased your wigs. My hair is so thin and I want to feel pretty again. I just need some advice/links to good wigs! Thank you!
Same!! I was just saying that I haven’t dyed my hair in over 3 years and it’s now grown to mid butt length or longer but I just cut several inches off. I don’t even need conditioner anymore but I’m kinda itching to lighten it or get highlights but I’m scared. I’ve always had a ton of wigs since before it became mainstream but my hair is so long and thick that the wigs don’t even fit right on my head lol.
It looks like most of the breakage is at the back of your head so it probably breaks off while you lie down and roll around on your back. Highly recommend getting silk or really good satin pillowcases and even a head wrap for extra protection. I think if die your hair darker it will be less noticeable and you could possibly get away with not wearing the hair extensions sometimes. Hope your hair journey gets better soon!
Once the shortest layer is long enough for a Bob, cut it to that length! You would look literally stunning, even if it was a long Bob (lob). Also, my sisters hair melted off and was like chewing gum from bleach. Cutting it short every month saved her
Im sorry Blair, but your hair is gonna take MONTHS (if not years) to even resemble what it used to be... But your taking all the right measures and steps to recover it and keep it healthy!
No she is not taking the right measures at all. She is blow drying her hair, touching it all the time, and using clip-in extensions. Basically doing everything wrong.
@@Shan72393 if you think about the fact that your hair grows 1/1.5cm per month, for her to have her long hair again it will probably take over 2 years... i feel bad for her, if that happened to my hair... i dont know, id get REALLY depressed, but id just cut it, get cute wigs and let my hair breathe and recover
I would’ve gone brunette in this situation. It’s easier to maintain and hides a lot of breakage so even without the extensions, you’ll feel better vs blonde without extensions. Nonetheless I wish you the fastest hair growth, I feel for this situation, a girls hair is a layer of confidence
blair, i hope it doesnt affect your mental health as bad bc i know hair can be very important for some people, especially when you used to have long thick hair u miss it now. it is stressful to take really good care after hair to make or maintain it healthy again. Please think about the option of SHAVING completely. it may seam scary but in my opinion this is a possibility to FREE yourself completely from this stress. you can wear wigs/caps/hats without annoying strands, and if u just keep ur scalp healthy you will regain your natural beautiful hair. Also look at all the shaving videos on UA-cam, they ALL look amazing, i think its because it brings out each ones unique face and it just looks so gooood!!!! plus you can experiment with bold makeup if ur into it. anyway this is too long to read for anybody. love to all
I know this is a lot, but have you considered cutting it? My hair was breaking and falling out because of an eating disorder and it made me feel better to cut it off and just find a cute style. And you can afford a good wig so it doesn't need to be short short, but maybe chin length so you can make your real hair blend with the hair pieces, so that way if you hate it you can still have fun with it being long. It just removes a lot of stress to not have to constantly be "fixing" it as much and just being able to focus on new growth is nice.
Yeah, I'm not sure if I understand why someone would want to have longer, stringy, unhealthy hair rather than shorter, healthier hair while it grows out?
@@iemalice5458 I'm a guy so I think it's way different for me. I shave my head. But my wife watched this and called me insensitive so I think you're right!
Castor oil on your scalp and rosemary spray- you boil Rosemary for about an hour and a half until it turns red pour it into a spray bottle add a couple of drops of rosemary oil and spray it on your scalp. You can keep it in the fridge and it really does work
I warm a bit of castor oil in my hands, then gently massage it into the scalp. Don’t use too much of it, massage what you have and then I shampoo twice.
Mama Walnut these are the best oils for hair: rosemary, coconut, Indian gooseberry, castor and sesame. My routine for my thick, wavy Indian hair is this: Massage oil into my hair at night and sleep. Wash the next morning with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (I like Shea Moisture) and then dry with a cotton towel/t-shirt. If I have to blow dry, then I put my dryer on the cold setting.
If you have fine hair I wouldn't use oils longterm or often. Oil travels down the strains quicker than curly hair which means you need cleansing which is harsh for your hair. Oil treatments are a better way to go.
You might not like this advice but you may need to eat in a calorie surplus for a bit. Especially fatty foods like salmon and avocado. It helped me a lot. Good luck gf@
@@pr4323 You're both right and wrong. She needs to eat enough calories for her body and she needs a good healthy combination of healthy fats and protein. The calorie surplus won't do anything magic aside from unwanted weight gain.
I just wanted to say thank you for being so real. I have scars from chicken pox last year and I’m really insecure about them. It takes a really strong person to advertise your insecurities. Good on you Blair!
Bleaching is so bad for your hair, unfortunately but there are ways to help. Olaplex is a good call! I'm curious to see how all this works for you. If it gets to the point that you're hair isn't getting any better, don't be afraid to shave it and rock wigs for a while! I had to do that once and although I cried at first, I LOVE my hair now. It's so healthy and shiney 🥰
Oh my goodness this is the same thing I did I had twenty plus inches put the dye on then another color on top and my tresses went from Beyoncé to bald lady in ten seconds 😟
Yeah! I am so glad to hear such positive comments. Even me who rarely cares about hair and such. I always would say, it's just hair, it will grow back. But when pieces of your hair just start falling out and breaking off, something about it just made my heart sink. I bought Olaplex a little bit ago but then forgot why I bought it. lol I guess I will be using it this week.
I did the same probably 12 years ago, it was traumatic af. My hair is such a comfort for me. Shaving it really had me messed up, but I rocked it! I didn’t bleach my hair again though, haha! My hair is healthy af now.
@@bethdavisjimenez if you want, I can ask my mom what she did recently! She was losing her hair BAD but with a couple different products she completely changed the health, growth and strength of her hair.
As someone who also belongs to the Chemical Cut gang with all the respect the best advice I was given and eventually followed was to cut it. When I finally cut off all the burnt damaged ends I and my hair felt so much better. I also got more confident with myself and learned to appreciate my face. You are beautiful, cut that ish off.
As someone who had long ass hair for 19 years, I can suggest minimizing heat treatment (including blowdrying), use keratin hair mask (NOT keratin treatment) but do not put it for too long, many people praise castor oil... so maybe read more into it and try it out. Good luck B!
I’ve been re-growing my hair for the last year after years of losing it, it such a challenge, thanks for talking about it honestly and giving me some new ideas!
Oh god I know exactly how you feel, it’s a PROCESS. I lost about a third of my hair after going off birth control two years ago and it’s still not back to how it was before because it takes so long for the hair to grow back to its original length and thickness
@@SaikolaM it’s insane right?? I lost so much of my hair in clumps and finally seeing it growing back is amazing even though it’s these little whispies instead of my old long hair! Progress is progress, right??
@@SaikolaM @blairwalnuts Pump Haircare ‘liquid gold’ oil growth treatment and their ‘mermaid lengths’ spray have really changed my whole hair journey. I’m just about to incorporate their growth shampoo/conditioner into my hair routine as well so hopefully those help too.
Blair, I know it's hard. I once lost 2/3 of my hair and now it's soo much better. It takes time, it's hard but it gets better and only better as long as you take care of your hair inside and out! (watch your iron levels!) Wish you the best!! 🌻🌞💛
Had a massive hair fall due to thyroid issues couple of years ago. I've tried a loottt of different treatments. Turned out simple castor oil (organic, good quality) mask does miracles, and it is super affordable. Hair stops falling out, and grows much thicker.
You need to cleanse your scalp. Loading moisture onto a clogged scalp will causes you many more problems. You need to make sure you adding in the moisture you lost when shampooing
Your videos couldn’t have came at a better time for me - I’m experiencing extreme hair thinning from what I think is an after effect of covid. My hair was soooo thick and healthy up until 2 months ago when it started falling out in clumps and lost 3/4 of its density. The uncertainty of Hair loss and damage in mid 20s can be frightening,so its reassuring to watch how someone else is dealing with the same issues I am at the moment, so thanks for sharing your journey!
My advice: -cut hair to about shoulder length or at least a few inches off -leave color as is & let it grow or dye it dark so it’s not a color difference & will blend better as it grows -get trims every 6-8wks. No hair product will truly fix the damage done not even olaplex. Haircut is the only way to remove split ends. -balance of protein & moisture. Don’t overdo protein & deep condition 1-2x/wk -no heat, not even low -Do heatless styles, low bun, half up ponytail, braids, embrace your natural texture -scrunchies/gentle hair ties -No extensions -satin/silk pillowcase -be patient -realistically in 2 years your hair will be great again & healthy. If your hair grows fast & you’re consistent you’ll see results earlier. -drink water, exercise & healthy diet
I have gotten into hair stuff recently, and my whole thing is braiding my hair at night and making sure I put my hair up during exercise. I also use like a hair sunscreen that's from Alterna (it's a cc cream) and I don't use any heat on my hair Edit: [Mulberry] silk pillowcases are a need, and then combing your hair from the bottom up
@UCXfOrWQ8hAfmv4FDVAT8Hhg I've gotten into braiding myself but not on my own head but my little girls hair. Feel accomplished nailing a new braid. It's so good to keep your hair in place and neat and tidy
Hi Blair ! I usually never comment, but I just wanna say sth, cause hair struggle is something I deeply relate to. I have androgenetic alopecia, so there is no hope for me, my hair has been slowly falling out and thinning since I was 16, and will continue to do so until I am completely bald. Since there is no real cure for it, my only hope is wigs (just have to save up to buy them, they are hella pricey). I have read so much about hair these past months, I should be given some sort of degree title. But there are many things that can help to slow down the process, such as hair massages (try to do it every day, just 10 min, even without any oil, the inversion method is great because of the increased blood flow), then dermarolling once a week - helps if you are using serums as it helps to penetrate them into scalp better. Since you have no trouble with hair cuticles as I have, don't worry, you will get your hair back as great as it was before, even if you did nothing. You just have to wait out this period and slowly cut the dead hair cause there is no miraculous cure for dead. Once it's dead, it's dead, you just have to cut it. I completely understand how you feel. How self-conscious you must feel. Don't worry, winter is coming anyway, so great season to experiment with hats ! Love you, take care :)
Blair I had my moment where I went almost completely bald (from bleaching!! My hair girl told me to slow down but I wanted to have white hair) it all came off chemo/gummy bear style, it looked like a white helmet, I was instructed to not touch it for two years min “pull it in a ponytail and put a flower in it, leave it alone” it saved my hair!! At the rate you might as well shave it and start over.
I lost my hair due to stress and heat damage, and now my hair is full again and I have some advice! These products that you use are great for professional hairstylists when they do some special hairstyles for special events, but using them regularly is doing more harm than good. 1 You shoud use products that are silicon, alcohol and sulfate free. For e.g. Garnier has great masks! This is SO important 2 Don't use towel on your hair when you get out of shower - use old cotton T-shirt 3 Get a silk/satin pillowcase 4 Get some vitamin B pills 5 Do diy mask with virgin olive oil and egg. It sounds silly but it is the best! 6 For oil - use some that don't contain silicons, for e.g. almond oil 7 When you go to sleep or you're around the house, have your hair in a protective style - do a loose braid 8 Don't wear ponytails, they break your hair too 9 Scalp massage!!!!! Do it every day for circulation, it does wonders! 10 Try to wash your hair 1, or max 2 time per week 11 Many people like coconut oil, I don't but they swear on it so you could try that to! 12 And remember, hair is growing out of scalp, which is skin, so great diet, scalp massages, natural oils, no pulling hair will help a lot! Hope I helped! P.s. don't come for my grammar, I'm from Croatia🥺🤣 best of luck girl❤
I'm so sorry you're going through this, you are still so beautiful! - Try sleeping with a silk bonnet! I've worn mine for a year and it has changed my hair drastically, even my boyfriend wears one while he sleeps now lol
I have a tip for you. These are some oils that REALLY HELPED ME GROW IT BACK. 1. Argan oil. 2.rosemary oil 3.tea tree oil diluted on scalp it really helps the scalp heal. 4.olaxplex Oil the best. Less heat products. And yes sleep with hair tied in a lose bun or braid
Stay strong, sometimes i fall behind on youtube because of my depression. But when something lets me watch videos i run to your channel because i feel like were sad sissies at the same point in our lives rn. Im 24, not working and cant work up the strength to shower sometimes. I know, i understand and im listening. I love you Blair 💛
I've fried my hair off countless times over processing it. you honestly just need to leave it alone completely:( it'll take years to grow back regardless but if you keep heat styling and messing with it youll just prolong the healing period
Take a bunch of aloe vera leaves put them in a food processor with some purified water Blended up and then drain it through a very fine strainer after you wash and condition your hair treated with that for about a week pour through your hair and then hit it with some cold water at the end if you don't like the smell of it you can put a little bit of orange essential oil in there
It happened to me too! I loved my platinum blonde hair for a year than my hair broke off. I did all the expensive treatment before and after my hair still broke and nothing work other then letting my grow out. It’s a long process. I feel you girl. I was so sad 😭. It was harder then a heartbreak. You’ll get through it. By the way, I love your wig. 🥰
I know it's hard to let go, but I honestly think you should just cut off all the blond bits and go for a cute pixie cut. I think it would look SOO good on you and would love to see you brunette :)
You make me sad Blair. I know I don’t really know you but I’m praying you find peace honey. Everyone has been in your place at some point. You are not alone.
Tropic isle castor oil and red pimento oil are actually incredible for hair growth. Amika soul food and briogeo kiwa mask will help make the texture more soft
Wearing the extensions will slow your process so its a dilemma of whether you keep wearing them. I've never seen anyone with hair extensions has any hair left under them
hey blair, i've been watching you for a while now. i think a shaved head would really suit you. a yeag ago, i cut mine completely off and had a buzzcut. Before that k had waist length. Hair grows back really fast. Take a chance and start fresh! xx
Ripe banana(1)+aloevera(optional)+honey(1 spn)+coconut oil(2spn)=>grind it,starin in(MUST) APPLY THROUGHOUT THE HAIR. cover it with a plastic bag and wash it after 30 -45 min. This is wha I personally use. It will make my hair shiny and super smooth.hope this helps ❤️
What made my hair grow to my bum(I have platinum hair for like 7 years now): balayage after 2-3 months and not bleaching more than needed; every bleach session only with olaplex; trying to keep the days between hair wash as long as possible - your head and hair will get used to it eventually + being greasy helps w your scalp; actually reading the labels and cutting out products w fragnance and etc - some high end products won’t be as good as they claim to be!; Using hair mask EVERY hair wash; coconut and other oils overnight masks; A proper hair oil, heat protection; Avoiding heat/low temperatures only, avoiding hair styling products when possible(because they dry out the hair), find a dry shampoo that won’t dry out your hair; NOT going to bed with wet hair; wearing a hat while under the sun/ uv protection; finding a proper hair brush that’s not too harsh; vitamines and what you eat also helps a lot.
STOP BLOW DRYING!! I have bleached hair, do not put any heat on it. It’s better to let it dry naturally, it absorbs the water more. I use cold water on my hair too.
So I just found out I have alopecia today. I sobbed like a child. It sounds so pathetic to be so upset about hair but it’s feels like such large part of who I am. This video has made me feel a little better about it all, and a little bit feels like a lot right now.
Please keep us posted on your journey! Back when I was in colege, I decided to do highlights at home and at the time my hair didn't fall, but when my hair dresser saw me she freaked out! She said that I should never done that at home, meanwhile I've never tried it again, but right now I'm experiencing hair loss due to stress, so you are also not alone in this journey and everything will be alright!
Hello miss Walnut! I was wondering if you keep your hair in a wrap for 20 mins before blow drying? It helps a lot! If you wait at least 20 mins it only takes half the time of blow drying then if you just dry off them immediately blow dry! Just a tip ☺️❤️
who is for a complete new short haircut?? Blair you are beautiful regardless of how your hair looks like, honestly. after her divorce, my mum just shaved her blonde hair off and now has beautiful long dark hair.. idk I am always thinking this when watching your hair videos. sending love and hugs from Czechia xx
It's gonna sound gross but use coconut oil +castor oli+red onion 1-2 hrs before shower (this is what I do and it works really good, use it 2-3 a month)(heat it up together) Also try rice water 3 times a month, keep the rice in water for a night and use in the morning Trust me doing these two changed my life. Hope u get hair back💖
i have overprocessed bleached hair and what is helping me is: i only shower my hair two days of the week and only those days i use heat on my hair ,i take inositol and collagen,i use olaplex 3 and AVYNA hialuronic acid hair line,i use a wet brush and use clip hair extensions everytime i go out 💕 sometimes i like to use olive oil as a hair mask and that helps too
Firts of all. Cut your hair. It's dead and you can't bring somthing dead back alive :c. It's just gone be a waist of products. Second, try to do a hair treatment that will make your hair soft. 3de, put coconut oil/olmond oil or olive oil in your hair a good 4 hours or so before you go shower (if you do use coconut oil wash it out with conditioner before using shampoo) a hair mask that helped me a lot is a mix of egg, mayo and olive oil. Don't do this every week tho. Don't wash your hair everyday. Do it atleast twice a week. Max 3 times when it gets really dirty. I heard rice watter is olso really good. My mom would do this thing where she would cut half an union (best red one) together with roughly shopped garlic and let it slow cook in som water. Then she would sift it and use the watter on my scalp to let my Hair grow. Only use a shampoo with sulfates once/twice a moth. And stop bleaching or heat damaging your hair for a moment. Show it som love Okey 💗💗 hope this works :) a UA-cam that gives good tips is audrey victoria. Chek her out!
okay but on a real note, dark hair would look stunning on you. i understand blonde being attached so deeply to your personality and your being - just like brown hair is for me - but truly, youre going through so much change as it is, i think doing brown would be such a good change for you.
You’re so beautiful that you’d look great in any style. All of those expensive products you don’t need, routines like Cardis with stuff you find in the house is how many thick haired girls get and keep it that way. Deep conditioning packs are a $1.
Shea moisture jamaican black castor oil, and the manuka honey and youghurt mask makes my hair so soft and helps my bleached pourus hair to not break when brushing and whatever. Sleeping on silky pillowcases is the bestttt. And agadir argain oil on the ends or repairing milk with kerastase is holyyy. My hair also fell off about a year(?) ago and it also helped to tone it darker so it looks fuller and softer and i cut it shorter because i was tired of the brittle hair. But trying to not shower it to much and dry it out with harsh shampoos, also It helped the hair grow faster when i was massaging my scalp and getting circulation really going. All this really did it for my hair atleast. You always look good anyways but i know the feeling of having your hair fall out🥲 you will see the progress!
The toupe looks good, I like your hair at that length, no Karen vibes at all! Good luck on your muscles journey, I did a weight lifting workout for the first time in like 2 years and I feel so good! Serious curiosity question, does your experience with your hair right now change your perspective on men that are losing or have lost their hair? I’m so curious 🧐
Aww blair the most important thing is to be positive & be happy. I know you can do this because it looks SO MUCH BETTER tho compared to when we first got news of the hair
I’ve been growing out my hair too for almost 2 years now. I’ve tried SO many things and wanted to share the things that worked for me in case it will help anyone else. 1. Make sure you’re eating enough vegetables and fruit for natural vitamins 2. Eating protein helped more for me than putting olaplex on my hair. 3. Stop bleaching (this should probably be the first point but I’m too lazy to rewrite this comment) 4. Use hair oil regularly 5. Wash hair less and use lots of conditioner (try not to use too many protein or strengthening hair products because hair can have too much protein and snap) 6. Get regular hair trims 7. Do not use a round brush or any brush while blow drying (hair is at its weakest when it’s wet and can snap) 8. Use silk hair ties 9. Do not put hair in tight ponytail or bun if your hair is snapping off (I lost a lot of hair when I was platinum blonde because it snapped off over time when wearing ponytails) 10. Use a silk pillowcase
as a fellow blondie, i feel your pain, except my hair all snapped off at the nape of my neck. after almost a year of cutting of dead ends around my whole head, it's just about back to the length of my regular hair. chi keratin serum has been a lifesaver for me personally.
I’ve hair down to my thighs. My key is wash as little as possible. The natural oils from your scalp are the best for your hair. Also a silk hair wrap or bonnet / silk pillow case. Or both depending on length.
You can use semi permanent colour to dye the blond part so the difference between your natural hair and the blonde is not so visible. It is not damaging - some contain treatments that improve your hair. It is really important to blow dry your scalp on low heat. The ends can airdry, that is how I do it to maintain my blonde.
Try oil treatments, silk pillowcases, NO TOWELS (tshirt instead) bonnets for sleeping, dry shampoo, don't wash your hair too much, DEEP conditioner AND THEN conditioner. I never knew that part! Conditioner seals in the nutrients. Wet brush the actual brush DONT BRUSH IT WET. just let it go, dry it on cool, not all the way, brush it dry and always use a heat protectant!! You can do this it's gonna take time but it WILL get better! Love you girl if u need anything I'm here! ♡♡
I’m sorry Blair I know how devastating hair damage can be on your confidence. You have an amazing personality and you’re so funny! I’m praying your hair will grow as quick as possible.
You’re still absolutely beautiful!! I’m going through the same thing of losing my hair but it’s not bleach related, still a very rough struggle and thank you for making me feel not alone.
I've been bleaching my hair platinum for the last few years. My natural hair is medium brown. Needless to say my hair is not so healthy anymore. I REALLY miss the silky shiny dark hair I used to have. I know dying my hair back to dark won't be an immediate fix, but it will be a start. Maybe it's just me, but I can't pull off the wigs. I'm likely not doing it right, but then again I never bought a really NICE one. I'd love to try extensions, but I touch my hair wayyyyy too much. I'd prob screw up my hairdo in 5 min. My only option feels like trying to get my own hair healthy again. (that'll be a project) Blair, you'd look beautiful with your natural dark hair. I'm nervous to go back dark myself especially after the work it took to be blonde, but alot of us look most beautiful with our natural hair shade, or at least a kicked up enhanced version of natural. 😉
i've always had fun colors but i decided to give my hair a break and dye it black. Then I got tired of it and i started trying all the methods for stripping out color.. this damaged my hair so bad and it was slowly breaking off. I stopped dyeing it for a year and my hair grew and was finally in a decent condition, It was the first time in my life I felt like a damaged my hair and there's no way back. Blair, you just need to give it a break. Use a good conditioner and mask, heat protection, and try not to touch it
Apple cider vinegar hair rinse really helped my frizzy hair. I don’t have bleached hair though but I’d recommend you to look into it. The hair cuticles need to be closed to avoid frizz and anything that’s fermented will help you achieve that. I read a comment here about using fermented rice water. That could help too. Any hair products with beer are also a good idea.
hi i have always had super long and thick hair. i live on the beach and am constantly in the sun and ocean. i stopped taking care of my hair and it got super knotted and it got very thin and brittle. now my hair is super thick and down past my butt. here’s some super practical and pretty low maintenance things i did/still do to get my hair healthy and maintain it: 1) shampoo your hair as little as possible and condition it often 2) find a conditioner with no alcohol because that can dry out the hair 3) put it in a braid every night before bed and use satin pillow sheets 4) put one drop of castor oil in your hands and run throughout the ends of your hair 5 ) use a t-shirt after a shower instead of a towel 6) avoid heat at all costs (including blow dryers if you can) 7) only brush it when necessary - never rip the hair while brushing (tip: start from the bottom and work your way up) the beauty of hair is it always grows back. remember to be easy on yourself during this time and see this as a journey of learning a new meaning of self love!! you are beautiful!!!
If you hair feels more gummy or stretchy after using the mask , stop using it , maybe switch to doing it every other week or longer . Too much protein/ moisture ether way can actually make your hair worse. Best thing is no heat at all , never go to bed with your hair wet , comb with your fingers & trimming your ends often.
I’ve been there and done this. Chop it off to a Bob, go dark or at least a balayage and only clip the extensions on top absolute healthy hair not anywhere near the bleached part! Took me less than a year to grow her back to a reasonable length! Progress pics were really rewarding to look back at.
BLAIR i am going through the EXACT Same thing as you right now!!!!!!!! This happened to me a month ago except for me the breakage is in the front mostly. People will never understand how much of a confidence wrecker it is until they go through this. I loved my hair so much before but just trying to stay positive. I have to wear a head band since its at the front and im constantly checking on it especially in the wind. Were in this together. also i forgot to say this but try rice water!!!! it apparently helps hair grow faster
When I burned my hair off the only think that helped it grow out healthy was chopping it off (all the damaged hair GONE) cause most of the time it doesn’t let your hair grow, it does grow but it will keep breaking off So you have to just cut it 😔 After that, taking a lot of biotin will help it grow out faster and healthy
I recently just cut my hair because I want to start over as well so that’s step one getting rid of all the dead ends. Step two just get a simple hair care routine that you can actually manage (shampoo, conditioner, deep condition once a week and an oil) just keep it simple!! Three is little to no heat, let your hair hair dry if you can or have the time and leave that blow dryer alone. Four is probably going to be the hardest but stop touching your hair!!! Just leave it alone!! And maybe even think about getting a wig with no combs because eventually the clips will start to rip your hair out and I know that probably sucks to hear because you just got that hair piece but just lookin out. Just give it time it will grow back sweets 💕
As a registered nurse, some medications I use come in glass vials like your rosemary oil. At work we use 4x4 dressings to snap the neck of the bottle. The best household item I can recommend is fold some paper towel in a 4x4 square and use that to snap the neck.
I followed so many videos but the only things that worked for me were: ▫️ganier shea butter & banana hair mask (or any other mask), mix with argon oil. Put on dry hair and leave on overnight. Wear in a silk bonnet if you can and wash out with cold water in the morning. ◽️wear protective hair styles when you sleep. So much hair damage occurs when you sleep from all the tossing and turning. low bun or braid ◽️the ordinary peptide serum for the broken hair strands (it’s really good) ◽️no hair drying, I just let it air dry, or hair dry on cold and put in a bun or braid during the day to stop touching it too much. I hope these help 💗💗💗
This is great advice. Thank you!
I just started using a satin bonnet for my hair at night and helps so much! Great advice.
A sleep bonnet is the best! Helped my hair health & it also keeps its style intact while you're sleeping! Also wearing my hair in braids to sleep has helped mine.
Why race specific? Count anyone of any race benefit from knowing what you just said.
@@BeautifulCrazyy she didn’t say that only black women can benefit from this advice though? She said “black woman here” as to identify herself as a black woman bc the profile picture doesn’t give that information. Chill lol
Dark would be very nice on you. I think it’d flatter your skin tone.
Yes like a chocolate color would look phenomenal on her! Bring on a new Blair era, I’m so here for it
Second this!!!
Her natural color of course 😍
I agree, that darker silvery color she had was gorgeous.
Yessss ! Something like a dark straight Bob
As a hair stylist and a person who has melted their hair (lol) this is the only advice I can give:
1) joico k pak leave in mask as well as the shampoo and conditioner. This is the only stuff that made my hair manageable.
2) no heat or hair tools if you can help it. I know it’s hard, especially when it’s so frizzy.
3) frequent hair cuts (once the bonds are broken in hair, you can try to fix them and smooth the cuticle, but honestly you just gotta let it grow and cut off the split ends so it doesn’t break anymore)
4) be patient and find cute hair styles.
It’s a process but you can do it!
thank you :)
I swear more people need to know about joico for fried hair it definitely saved mine
love this advice!
How about a good chop chop??? That imo is the fastest most effective way to regrow HEALTHY hair.
blair get a dyson!! You can still blow dry your hair with less damage since it uses hot air
Thanks for including us! Olaplex is amazing for repairing all types of damage! It works by rebuilding the internal broken disulfide bonds. It will help to keep the hair you already have strong as it grows back.
Sponsor her, babes ❤️
She's a great candidate for a sponsorship! Send her no. 1 and no. 2 or send it to her hair stylist to treat her with it
@@adriannas95 she needs to not bleach her hair for months so that pretty much cancels out the use of 1 but she may be able to have no.2 used by a professional on her, but there is the possibility it could further cause breakage as we truly do not know the state her hair is in.
Love Olaplex! Been using it for a few years when I dyed my hair and now I just use it as a treatment on my natural hair.
@@cannsmith Olaplex 1 can be used as a stand alone treatment on hair without bleach or colour. It's the most concentrated version of the bond builder.
Agreed, why don't she just wear it up until it grows
When my mom died in 2009 I was literally 19 & because of depression I cut all my hair off. It was past my butt. I cut it & dyed it cherry red. My hair didn’t grow back till 2017. I stopped dyeing it and started taking care of it. When I wanted a different color I would just buy wigs. Now 2021 my hair is back to past my butt & healthier than ever ❤️ your hair will get there Blair 🥰 keep on taking care of it !!
Yes!! I had to cut all my hair off, too but it was due to damage. Fortunately for me, my hair grows SO FAST! But my hair is so healthy now!!
Thank you for this comment
Yes! Can't recommend silk bonnets or pillowcases enough. Reducing friction will really minimize breakage
I agree. I had the same problem and it really helped a lot.
Yes!! Or hairties I was thinking too
Once the shortest layer is long enough for a Bob, cut it to that length! You would look literally stunning, even if it was a long Bob (lob).
Also, my sisters hair melted off and was like chewing gum from bleach. Cutting it short every month saved her
Best advice in this entire comment section. Thank you.
"Cutting it short every month"? What do you mean?
@@TheAtl198 probably cutting the same amount of your hair grow every month (an inch or so)
@@annalima7166 cutting it also helps the whole head of hair look and feel thicker, cause the new growth gets to catch up with the rest of the hair

Im sorry Blair, but your hair is gonna take MONTHS (if not years) to even resemble what it used to be... But your taking all the right measures and steps to recover it and keep it healthy!
Yea my guess is 2 years. But I’m not a professional.
I agree. 2015 I burned my hair off... it was awful. Didn't grow back in full 2018 -2019
I mean she will get around 12 cm of new, healthy hair in one year. That's not a lot with her usual length.

Castor oil on your scalp and rosemary spray- you boil Rosemary for about an hour and a half until it turns red pour it into a spray bottle add a couple of drops of rosemary oil and spray it on your scalp. You can keep it in the fridge and it really does work
But fair warning.... castor oil is INSANELY hard to get out of your hair.
As a fellow Indian with thick wavy hair I strongly recommend this!!!!
Oh and Blair braid your hair whilst it's semi damp, no need for heat styles 🙌🏼
If you have fine hair I wouldn't use oils longterm or often. Oil travels down the strains quicker than curly hair which means you need cleansing which is harsh for your hair. Oil treatments are a better way to go.
I agree
nahhh the coconut is actually drying so opt for the other ones besties

1) only use silk scrunchies
2) wash with conditioner not shampoo
3) use a color depositing conditioner- not a toner- to tone your hair
You need to cleanse your scalp. Loading moisture onto a clogged scalp will causes you many more problems. You need to make sure you adding in the moisture you lost when shampooing
I’m 15, and I’m literally going bald. I loose so much hair a day it’s depressing. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us Blair
My advice:
-cut hair to about shoulder length or at least a few inches off
-leave color as is & let it grow or dye it dark so it’s not a color difference & will blend better as it grows
-get trims every 6-8wks. No hair product will truly fix the damage done not even olaplex. Haircut is the only way to remove split ends.
-balance of protein & moisture. Don’t overdo protein & deep condition 1-2x/wk
-no heat, not even low
-Do heatless styles, low bun, half up ponytail, braids, embrace your natural texture
-scrunchies/gentle hair ties
-No extensions
-satin/silk pillowcase
-be patient
-realistically in 2 years your hair will be great again & healthy. If your hair grows fast & you’re consistent you’ll see results earlier.
-drink water, exercise & healthy diet

This is SO important
2 Don't use towel on your hair when you get out of shower - use old cotton T-shirt
3 Get a silk/satin pillowcase
4 Get some vitamin B pills
5 Do diy mask with virgin olive oil and egg. It sounds silly but it is the best!
6 For oil - use some that don't contain silicons, for e.g. almond oil
7 When you go to sleep or you're around the house, have your hair in a protective style - do a loose braid
8 Don't wear ponytails, they break your hair too
9 Scalp massage!!!!! Do it every day for circulation, it does wonders!
10 Try to wash your hair 1, or max 2 time per week
11 Many people like coconut oil, I don't but they swear on it so you could try that to!

Take a chance and start fresh! xx
I’ve been regrowing my hair from the point you are at now for ten years now and it’s finally better
So sorry this happened, thanks for sharing, I know it's helping somebody out there that's going through the same thing
What made my hair grow to my bum(I have platinum hair for like 7 years now):
balayage after 2-3 months and not bleaching more than needed; every bleach session only with olaplex; trying to keep the days between hair wash as long as possible - your head and hair will get used to it eventually + being greasy helps w your scalp; actually reading the labels and cutting out products w fragnance and etc - some high end products won’t be as good as they claim to be!; Using hair mask EVERY hair wash; coconut and other oils overnight masks; A proper hair oil, heat protection; Avoiding heat/low temperatures only, avoiding hair styling products when possible(because they dry out the hair), find a dry shampoo that won’t dry out your hair; NOT going to bed with wet hair; wearing a hat while under the sun/ uv protection; finding a proper hair brush that’s not too harsh; vitamines and what you eat also helps a lot.
She said that I should never done that at home, meanwhile I've never tried it again, but right now I'm experiencing hair loss due to stress, so you are also not alone in this journey and everything will be alright!
rogaine, nutrafol, stop blowdrying, only lift 3 levels max from your natural color...these are honestly the only things that will really help
No! Rogaine is not for bleach damage!
Hello miss Walnut! I was wondering if you keep your hair in a wrap for 20 mins before blow drying? It helps a lot! If you wait at least 20 mins it only takes half the time of blow drying then if you just dry off them immediately blow dry! Just a tip ☺️❤️
time to pull an amber rose, and start over from square one.
I’m so invested in Blair being a healthier and happier walnut
I went white blonde about 5 years ago and it’s still never been the same.. I’d say it was a lot of fun, so pretty, but so not worth it lmao
who is for a complete new short haircut?? Blair you are beautiful regardless of how your hair looks like, honestly.
after her divorce, my mum just shaved her blonde hair off and now has beautiful long dark hair.. idk I am always thinking this when watching your hair videos.
sending love and hugs from Czechia xx
Blair, don't forget supplements- they are also very important as you need to get everything your body needs (same goes for nails and skin)
I’m just wondering if her hair got bad after she went on that extreme diet
@@pearlsachiko2667 it's very likely, loosing your period and hair falling out are the most common indicators of extreme dieting
I have been washing my hair with clay for the past few months and it helps me a lot .My dandruff disappeared and my hair is much softer and shiner.
It's gonna sound gross but use coconut oil +castor oli+red onion 1-2 hrs before shower (this is what I do and it works really good, use it 2-3 a month)(heat it up together)
Also try rice water 3 times a month, keep the rice in water for a night and use in the morning
Trust me doing these two changed my life.
Hope u get hair back💖
2-3 times a week * the oil
Find a tutorial that's better.
And I know you will get results
i have overprocessed bleached hair and what is helping me is: i only shower my hair two days of the week and only those days i use heat on my hair ,i take inositol and collagen,i use olaplex 3 and AVYNA hialuronic acid hair line,i use a wet brush and use clip hair extensions everytime i go out 💕 sometimes i like to use olive oil as a hair mask and that helps too
Firts of all.
They make glass ampule breakers so you do not cut yourself when opening them.
Walnut! Whenever I wash my hair I mix either peppermint or rosemary essential oil into my shampoo and massage my scalp, it stimulates hair growth 😊
BLAIR BLAIR - ROSEMARY OIL!!!! Makes hair grow like crazy and natural…lemme know if u want tips to use ♥️
I love the olaplex no.3, it’s been saving my hair after I ruined it. The 6 and 7 are a game changer too!
I’ve been growing out my hair too for almost 2 years now. I’ve tried SO many things and wanted to share the things that worked for me in case it will help anyone else.
1. Make sure you’re eating enough vegetables and fruit for natural vitamins
2. Eating protein helped more for me than putting olaplex on my hair.
3. Stop bleaching (this should probably be the first point but I’m too lazy to rewrite this comment)
4. Use hair oil regularly
5. Wash hair less and use lots of conditioner (try not to use too many protein or strengthening hair products because hair can have too much protein and snap)
6. Get regular hair trims
7. Do not use a round brush or any brush while blow drying (hair is at its weakest when it’s wet and can snap)
8. Use silk hair ties
9. Do not put hair in tight ponytail or bun if your hair is snapping off (I lost a lot of hair when I was platinum blonde because it snapped off over time when wearing ponytails)
How often do you wash it?
I would say once or twice a week is enough 😘😘😘
@@josyb2508 I wash mine once every week to week and a half. ♥️
I would try and go darker.
I know it’s sooo sucked out at this point but: ✨rice water✨really does it thing for stronger and longer hair
(that'll be a project)
Blair, you'd look beautiful with your natural dark hair.
I stopped dyeing it for a year and my hair grew and was finally in a decent condition,
It was the first time in my life I felt like a damaged my hair and there's no way back.
Any hair products with beer are also a good idea.
hi i have always had super long and thick hair. i live on the beach and am constantly in the sun and ocean. i stopped taking care of my hair and it got super knotted and it got very thin and brittle. now my hair is super thick and down past my butt. here’s some super practical and pretty low maintenance things i did/still do to get my hair healthy and maintain it:
1) shampoo your hair as little as possible and condition it often
2) find a conditioner with no alcohol because that can dry out the hair
3) put it in a braid every night before bed and use satin pillow sheets
4) put one drop of castor oil in your hands and run throughout the ends of your hair
5 ) use a t-shirt after a shower instead of a towel
6) avoid heat at all costs (including blow dryers if you can)
7) only brush it when necessary - never rip the hair while brushing (tip: start from the bottom and work your way up)
the beauty of hair is it always grows back. remember to be easy on yourself during this time and see this as a journey of learning a new meaning of self love!! you are beautiful!!!
When I burned my hair off the only think that helped it grow out healthy was chopping it off (all the damaged hair GONE) cause most of the time it doesn’t let your hair grow, it does grow but it will keep breaking off
So you have to just cut it 😔
After that, taking a lot of biotin will help it grow out faster and healthy
GIRL! aphogee 2 step protein treatment!!! literally saved my hair, it was falling out and breaking off from bleach and I SWEAR by this!!!
Function of beauty products; coconut oil masking; silk pillow case; honey mixed with silicone-free conditioner; olaplex #3 and 7
As a registered nurse, some medications I use come in glass vials like your rosemary oil. At work we use 4x4 dressings to snap the neck of the bottle. The best household item I can recommend is fold some paper towel in a 4x4 square and use that to snap the neck.
Ampoule.
make sure you wrap your hair in a silk wrap while you sleep if you aren't already! you look beautiful blaire 💕 it'll all be alright soon
I followed so many videos but the only things that worked for me were:
▫️ganier shea butter & banana hair mask (or any other mask), mix with argon oil. Put on dry hair and leave on overnight. Wear in a silk bonnet if you can and wash out with cold water in the morning.
◽️wear protective hair styles when you sleep. So much hair damage occurs when you sleep from all the tossing and turning. low bun or braid
◽️the ordinary peptide serum for the broken hair strands (it’s really good)
◽️no hair drying, I just let it air dry, or hair dry on cold and put in a bun or braid during the day to stop touching it too much. I hope these help 💗💗💗
BLAIR! Try the curly girl method! I know your hair isn’t curly, but the process is about being gentle and making your hair as healthy as possible!
