    For the upper crown I would have enclosed the space entirely. Otherwise it will just become a constant dust and grease trap. I might still have used the trim and just extended it upwards at the end to give that nice 3D effect (english is not my first language so this is propably not the best analogy) and avoid making it look like there should have been more height to the cabinets.

    When I install crown I extend it so that the front edge above the doors is flush with the face of the door so that it doesn't look like the doors stick out. the mitre then lines up with the front corner of the doors not the cabinet. Great work, thanks for sharing.

    on that face frame notch you couldve either used a hand held jigsaw easy, or some 1/4" scribe on the bottom and wall. Thats what we use, I install cabinets.

    For the corner crown joints try using hot melt polyurethane adhesive , PUR adhesive. Super strong no pins required. I have used it to pre make dentil blocks. Also running crown on bull nose corners. Pre fab is the way to go.
    Great job!

    Hi, on the rcs cabinets with the lip edge, how do you make them meet each other if one is 15 depth and another 12? Do you add a side board to meet the lip edge, insert a filler, or do you just go ahead and push together? By lip edge I'm referring to the edge you chipped out in this video.

    Very nice, also the snug fits. Why didn't you block the top of the cabinets altogether? I'm trying to so this on mine with simple plinths because having the space up there somehow entices it for storage, while dust collects in unhygienic amounts up there. Why does this seem standard for kitchens, not to go ceiling height?

  • @john.french

    Nice chisels! I would have used CA glue with activator instead to avoid that yellow color glue on the miters. Plus it's fast setting and strong.

      @@StudPack Also, you ever use "dummy doors" for the side of the cabinets that are visible, such as a break for the window over the kitchen sink? I asked a contractor that I was considering and he had never heard of it.

    Hope to can help answer a question for me, with a small 1/16-1/8” gap in some places above my painted gray kitchen cabinets, once the gaps are filled do you paint them to match the color of the cabinets or the ceiling white?

    • @StudPack
      @StudPack  2 роки тому +1

      I think I'd bring the ceiling color down over the caulk. I think that would easier and you'd have a better line between the white and gray

    I don't get it? 5:55 if ur putting a white panel over the original one to hide nails, why the heck nail that too? that's pointless especially that the nails are anyway visible - that's just a double job with the same result. Why not simply glue it?
