A committed carnivore very happily married for many years to a committed vegetarian before she was taken too early by cancer (nothing to do with her diet!). To all the trolls out there "If you have nothing positive to say, at least be quiet". Keep up the great work Mark - your positivity helps make the world a better place.

Through lockdown I got myself very overweight (101kg @ 173cm) a lot of beer and junk food.
One evening i started to get pain in my chest, made my wife rush me to A&E. Turns out I was being paranoid, although my blood pressure was 220/140. Pretty ridiculous for a 30 year old.
I’m sure it was chance(definitely not my algorithm) made me stumble across one of your videos the next day.
Seeing how far you’d come made me realise I can do it too.
It started with 1.6km round my local park at 8:00km, lying on the ground being sick from the effort. Determination and will power got me to running my first marathon last year and finishing just under 4 hours. The enjoyment I get from life now and improvement even in mental health is worth the hard work it took.

220/140 that was angina, and you were headed for the grave in a year or so. Fasting and low carb can help loads to get that BP down, I used to have the same problem.

@@LaMereACaniche thanks. Yeah bro. I’ll never go back. It’s so much more than a diet or a quick fix, more of a lifestyle change. I still enjoy myself and still have treats, takeaways etc but the difference is they’re earned now rather than just whenever I want.
I found making sure I’ve earned my treat also makes it guilt free. Before I’d go on terrible binge eating days. I felt rubbish, to make myself feel better I’d eat junk food (a whole pack of donuts from Tesco). I would feel better for a small moment then feel bad that I’d just eaten all the junk food. Guess what I did to make myself feel better! Eat more rubbish. Horrible cycle that makes no sense.
Now I run three times a week, after going and smashing 20k on a Sunday morning I feel ok to have the odd Chinese on a Sunday night. Works for me anyway.
I’m a hard core carnivore. To the point where I host a wildly popular event every year called Meat Fest where we eat a variety of traditional and exotic meat dishes and it’s just heavenly. That said, I feel everyone should be respected, vegans included. This Henrik is giving us meat eaters a terrible name, and I can’t help but feel motivated to do what I can to stick it to him. Long live Betty!

As a fellow 50+ year old runner, UA-camr, and recipient of "hatred" on my own channel I applaud you for calling out the tosser.........Henrik. There is too much of it on UA-cam where sad , little people with no life, dreams or goals hang out to spread negativity and shine a light on nothing except themselves. Rest in knowledge though that 99% of your audience is in fact here for all of the right reasons. Just keep on being you and ignore the prats ( as hard as it can be some times. )

Short story from my side. For ~4-5 years I was living in low carb/keto bubble. I'd say I never saw any vegans comming to the comments and insulting carnivores or keto community. I never saw then even sharing some valuabe information which would be helpful for me to turn on my critical thinking earlier. But when I went whole foods plant based (at age 46 huh) and started to educate myself by asking questions sometimes - bloddy hell, I was amazed how much carnivore advocates come to the vegan/plant based sources just to bark their "amazing" health stories and that they feel the best in their life with LDL of 300. It's almost impossible to ask question without being attacked by them. Few days ago I asked the question about the suplementation for my 8 and 9 year old daughters who decided to go vegan BEFORE me - wow, I thought that carnivores will sent the police my way to arrest me for child abuse (as thei call it). Damn.
It’s an odd one. I’d not think to comment on a local butchers face book page - but if I mention vegan cookies on mine I get grief 😂

Started watching 2ish years ago, and ran my first ultra 5 weeks ago, Old Ghost road ultra (85km) and was super sick, watched your videos before shooting out to trail run all the time because if I lacked inspo you gave it to me by running with your pup.
Come to NZ and do some runs, you'd absolutely love it and would recommend Old ghost road before it gets stupidly popular, the race is homegrown is destined to get famous in a few years!

A year ago I was a very overweight middle aged man struggling with the motivation to make myself healthier, the algorithm must have sensed a disturbance in the force and suggested one of your videos. Fast forward to today and I have lost over 7 stone, am running everyday and am fitter and happier than I have been for the past 25 years. Thankyou for being one of the few fitness youtubers who are entertaining as well as being motivational. Keep up the smashing work!

While I have never considered being vegan, I never understood how there are individuals that opposed it so much. Regardless if you’re a vegan or not, you still need to manage your diet correctly. Eating 2 pounds of vegan or non-vegan cookies every day is going to you up. So as long as Mark or other vegans keeps being responsible, give them the kudos they deserve.

Bone density: I've recently been diagnosed coeliac, completely out of the blue, and have just had my first bone density scan - they'll be done every 2 years from here on out, as osteoporosis is apparently a big issue for coeliacs.
The tool used is a dual intensity X-Ray machine; the same machine used for body composition scans.

This is absolutely brilliant! I was vegetarian for 6,5 years until it no longer fit my lifestyle and health, but I try to eat ecological and freefarm sourced meat when I can now - and Betty is quite a motivation to keep going with that, what a sweetie! Loving this approach generally, but I hope it doesn't become a series, I don't want the trolls to become used to the attention. But I would accept more pigs.
