It sure looks like it was meant to hold a ribbon.
Thats what i thought as well a choker maybe with a little heart in the middle. Airhugs of positive loving energy to you and every one else
It looks like the top of some army medals i have as well.
Maybe holding a watch . I seen vintage watches, usually with an upside down dial, that could be warn like a brooch. I think nurses used to wear them a lot. Just a guess though.
I think it is a medal ribbon bar, and quite an old one.
Using pipes to grow teeny tiny succulents would be cute
Best UA-cam channel in the world!!
Wonderful and wonder-filled finds + entertaining and informative videos! Simply the best!
I'm probably not the only one that is very much looking forward to your Etsy shop reopening. Thank you ladies!
Loved the Ladybird!
Hi, i think the glass fragments are from 1900 moon glass brooch they were very popular , thank you for the beautiful video.🌙.
That little pin thing looks a lot like what our childhood rewards for Sunday school accomplishments were hung from.
That's exactly what I thought! An older friend, now gone, showed me a series of little ribbons that hooked together and were held at the top by something just like that.
I think your glass fang or tooth is meant to be a crescent moon from the remainder of the wire - so not quite so macabre as you suggested! Thanks Alex and Gail for taking us on your treasure hunts.🌙
That's what I was thinking as well, and the loop at the top of the pin holds the other end of the moon 🌙🌙🌙 🙂🙂🙂
I think the fang is actually an elephant tusk.
I will always be astounded by how you see those tiny seed beads! I adore your videos!
Definetly a tiddlywinks master.
I played tiddlywinks with my daughters when they were little. I found a modern version at a dollar store with a variety of old school games. We always had some much fun laughing at wayward disks flying all around and a good amount of competition 😊 lovely memories ❤ we really enjoyed playing old fashioned games I was gifted the game board my great grandfather made. It is a card table sized “trouble “ or “aggravation “ game (that’s the modern name) they called it “Wahoo” because when you won you yelled “Wahoo!” I love playing games ❤
my first thought at that bone disk was tiddlywinks too..the way that one side was shaped seemed to imply it..
My lovely Larks.. You took my though Covid here in Maine and I am eternally grateful!! I love ❤️ the intro so much.. The things you have found!!?? Amazing!! ❤❤😊😊😮😮
had a thought about that 1st find. On American military uniforms, marksman badges were hung from them by tiny rings
Lovely finds Ladies, the sweetheart brooch is amazing but it was the rose and anchor button that gave me goosebumps!. I have painted that design in various forms many times over the years in memory of my late parents. Mothers name was Rose and Father was in the Navy so the rose and anchor became their symbols for me. Fab video 😃💗 x
Nice found... thanks for sharing this video.. greeting from Indonesian traditional gold prospecting 🇮🇩🌼🌺👍
I just love the music you play in the background. It's just lovely. I even liked the drunken sailor song, I got a "wee" laugh.
Great finds ☺
I love the glass pumpkin 🎃
You guys found my brooch. Lol.Great finds you two.❤
Your channel has everything. You two do an amazing job with the music, the visuals and the commentary! Thank you for making it so interesting and relaxing as well!
I had a Donald Duck Tiddlywinks bought for me in the late 60's. It was by Sands games I think, and had different coloured plastic Tiddlywinks and a little metal cup. The only thing 'Donald Duck' about it, was there was a picture of him on top of the box! This was in Australia, probably a birthday or Christmas pressie.
I left a comment on your old video where you found the pin with the piece you are saying is a tooth, and mentioned it seems it should actually be a crescent moon cracked in half, as I have one from a box of family items. If you took the piece you found in this video and slipped it into the other end of the pin you found, where there is a matching metal wrap to hold it, even though they aren't from the same pin, you should see it would come together to hold the 2 ends to create a crescent moon. At least, that is what it looked to be from when you found the initial pin.
Thanks for a wonderful treasure hunt, as always, love the MARY broach and the beautiful buttons. My grandmother had a Tiddledy Wink game in the basement along with stacks of board games going back to the 40's or 50's. I do not remember what kind of material they were made from, but I don't think it was bone.
yes I agree the glass items are so stunning.... everything is so interesting, I love learning about new information from any period of time. xx
My Grandson hears the Intro and knows I’m watching you.. He’s 13 and love’s History!!
I loved playing Tiddley Winks when I was a kid!!! Haven't thought of that for years!!! ❤🥰🥰🥰
Such a beautiful day ladies! Thank you for taking me along! Have a safe happy week! Enjoy family! Keep creating! Blessings 🇨🇦🩷🩷🦋🙏🕊️🌹🌸🥰
I use those ribbon hangers in my historical reenactment, I make fantasy versions of the ribbons that would have hung on them for steampunks/goths!
The token is beautiful and must have taken a lot of time to make for their loved one. Lovely other bits and I too love stopple boppers as Alex would say. Stay safe you two.
We also call that flower you're speaking of "Queen Anne's Lace" here in the US, too.
Another lovely afternoon with you two. Thank you ❤😊🌈
Beautiful tiny treasure you both found. I love the hearts pin says Mary that was awesome! Great day for you both ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
Hi Gail and Alex, I love your videos and I really enjoy watching your adventures and your amazing finds. I love how you get excited and treasure these interesting little things that most people would step over and not notice their beauty. Thank you for taking me along with you. I don’t get out very much at all anymore because of mobility issues. I used to love walking on the beach and I have a few pieces of sea glass. I love your sea glass finds, they are so beautiful and I have to admit I would love to go with you and find a few more coloured pieces for my little collection. Anyway have a wonderful day and here’s to uncovering many more treasures. Take care my friends and have fun. Much love to you both and heaps of hugs from Australia.
❤️❤️🐨❤️❤️ 😘
That’s a ribbon or medal holder (like a candidate or convention delegate would wear) and sometimes had a small chain wing pin tack to enhance the ribbon. My grandma had them in the 1920s for various groups she belonged to.
I wanted to add to Alex’s musing on Queen Anne’s Lace that it got its name because in the center of the flower there is usually a few florets of pink or red.
That was a reminder that she had been beheaded.
I look forward to your next video.
Thank you ladies.
Gale and Alex, your videos are so precious , I always enjoy them , they are very relaxing to watch . Love all the gems you find , have a great week .🧡💛💚💥
☑
What an amazing, hand-made find! That is so special.
I feel like it would be absolutely adorable for you to use the ribbon pin backings to hang curtains or miniature macrame or something in a doll house 😮
Wrong mudlarkers! 😊
The "fang/claw" pendant looks like it was meant to represent the moon, possible reason made of uranium glass to glow in the dark like the crescent moon in the night sky. Wonderful historic finds ladies.
I was thinking the same thing!
I'm drooling over the black moon phases pottery shard.
Hello ladies, its been a while since I commented, such a pleasure to share your adventures, I remember playing tiddly winks when I was a child, we had so much fun trying to get our winks into the bowl first, we'd also sit on opposite sides of the table and try to blow a ping pong ball into each others goal first but too much laughing and spittle made it quite competitive, my mother loved it and laughed along with us as she watched, I miss those days of simple, innocent fun. Thanks for sharing and stirring fond memories, cheers!!! 🥰😘💕👍🙏🦴🌸💮🏵🌺🌼
In these times of world change and the never ending bad news this channel is a breath of fresh air god bless you. x
Hey there ladies.
Another fantastic film with some fantastic finds.
A while ago I found a black pipe, initially I thought it was just burnt in a fire, but after cleaning I found it was made of grey clay and glazed black. The black pipe bowl has a detailed stockinged boot kicking a football for a heal. Beautiful! I asked around the usual suspects that frequent the same area and eventually I met an old school bottle digger, he told me that there was a company in Germany that used to manufacture these sort of grey clay pipes coated in black. Always learning ladies, I love this hobby and I love watching the enjoyment you get finding articles from the past and resurrecting the history behind them ❤
When I was a child I found a very old Tiddlywinks game box in my grandparents attic. I asked if it was one of my mothers old games and was told that she and siblings would have played with it but it was a childhood game of my Grandmother's. It dated back to the 1880-1890s time period. I have never seen another one that was a original from that time. Thank you for the memories!
I really love it when I get to watch you guys searching for items.
The bar must be part of a medal, and the bone disc, maybe a bone folder? For putting in a crisp fold in paper? Oh, a tiddlywink! Lol! I was a bit off.
💖Luv ya bunches, Gail and Alex 💖
Marvelous episode! Thank you all for making and sharing this.
Mary is one of our family names. So, being the last Mary in our family, I really love that brooch!!
I remember having a tiddlywinks game made of colorful plastic when I was a child back in the mid 1950’s.
Heyguys, coming to you from Westchester, NY, and when Alex found her piece of claw and egg pipe I started thinking. I wonder what it would look like if you made a drawing of the piece that you found ,with your own imagination filling in the rest of the pipe.. I think with the talent, that you've so fortunately inherited, a detailed drawing of a claw and egg pipe would look brilliant.
Yes I thought it could be for holding the ribbon of a medal 🏅
Oh the Mary brooch is so precious 🙏 how sweet is that ❤️❤️ a little piece of history and love ❤️
I think the little metal part at the beginning of the video is used to hold a sampler. A long piece of ribbon like embroidery that is hanging on the wall. Some are small, and others are a bit wide.
My mom has several of them, and they all hang with that type of metal. Most of them are made from silver or silver plated.
That's very interesting, thankyou for sharing 💐🙂
Absolutely loved this episode! Especially the finding of the Tiddly wink. I grew up in the 60s here in the United States and I remember playing tiddlywinks at my grandma's house but it was a much newer version they were made out of plastic! We love your show love watching and seeing all the Fantastic Finds have a blessed day.❤
HI GAIL AND ALEX!! IT'S INCREDIBLE TO SEE HOW SOMETHING SO SMALL CAN NOT ONLY BE SPOTTED BY ALEX, BUT BE TOTALLY SUPERB LITTLE GEM. WE ARE NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT SUCH THINGS, BUT YOU'VE MADE IT WONDERFUL TO FIND. THOSE BLACK BUTTONS ARE TINY BUT FABULOUS FINDS. HOW YOU SPOT THEM ARE BEYOND ME. HA HA!! LOVE THE BROOCH WITH MARY AND THE HEARTS. LOVE THE ORIENTAL POTTERY, SO PRETTY. WELL, THANKS FOR SHARING AND STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY ❤️ 🙏
The phases of the moon pottery piece will make an amazing pendant, very witchy looking
I love your channel!! I wish I had somewhere to go to look for ancient treasures!
The lady hand with dog would make a great pendant!!
The faux tiger tooth was popular during the “raj” period in late 1880s. They would have a gold or silver crown cap with a ring fitting for a pendant and sometimes fitted with matching end cap. They also made similar tiger claw pieces.
Oh, the Mary pin is an amazing find!
Two ribbon holders with a clasp or claw and ring would make a perfect base for a chocker out of old lace, woven metal wires, old chain fragments or threaded beads with a little charm or pendant in the front. That china fragment is likely imported with the East Indian Co. A beautiful celadon glaze with butterflies, perhaps a Famille Rose or Vert piece originally.
Definately Chinese, not faux Chinese.
Cur and set in silver linked together would make a smashing statement bracelet! Never seen anything like the stone brooch, butnthe motif is alot like a type of Scottish Luckenbooth. What a labour of love. Imagining a miner far from home making this in his spare time is very moving.
Love your tiny treasures 💕
The buddleia is beautiful and the wild raspberries look delicious.
Hello Gail, hello Alex glass bottle stoppers are some of my favorite of your finds.
Thank you both for another fascinating video! I've been watching as I've been using a drop spindle to make knitting yarn, so we've all kind of taken a little trip back in time haven't we?
Hi Gail & Alex ,Lovely pin,I keep thinking M . Scott.love your finds, the shed are great.love your videos please it keep me very happy. As a senior it's better watching than any other shows on tv.

Two sweethearts,lost in time🥲
I just love your video's love the Mary Brouch..wonderful find's.
first item maybe game related? like a chip. ow we call it in Holland, "vlooienspel". how fun
Is the bone disc possibly an old pick for a stringed instrument? Possibly a samisen, guitar, sitar, mandolin, or a type of lap harp like a zither?
It’s from a medal or pendant of some sort. Very good condition too 🫶😊
Amazing find and fantastic to actually meet you guys this weekend at detectorcon 2023, shan’t forget you guys any time soon, wasn’t much but really hope you liked your little gifts Alex 😊🫶🙏✌️❤️
Lovely to meet you too - thanks so much for the gifts!
The round bone thing is quite common actually.... it's a thingamajig 🤓
The little bit you mention at 1:13 looks like a military ribbon and medal pin !
Great day & treasures! 🎉 The beautiful Mary Sweetheart pin is my favorite. Tiny treasures are adorable. 🌻
1:11 looks like a note "keeper" paper roller...or ""frame" to a embroidery to hang up...
Great video girls alway good fun with lots of fab finds x
Thanks guys! ❤
I love the Mary brooch.i have a silver one for my granddaughter with Nellie on.cracking finds ladies 😊xx
That is a very nice brooch with the name Mary on it. It looks like some sort of Celtic lettering. Maybe if you could match up that lettering it could tell you how old it is. Let us know what you find out about it. Those wild lilacs are beautiful! Thank you for filming the flowers.
From a little model Elephant? We know how much the Victorian’s loved their toy Zoo’s
❤ the Mary pin, so Sweet 🧁🙋♀️
Is it a pick for a stringed instrument?! The bevel made me think of that.
* Small number but wonderful quality finds.. So many buttons & beads to make bead & Wire crafts with.. Love your searches to find what things were..
What a beautiful day together and all the finds
another lovely video, so many ecclectic finds. Great to see the history item from normal lives. Well done, have a great week.
You are both so good at spotting those tiny treasures! Beautiful Love token! The typeface looks quite Medieval. I really like the stopple boppers, too. They’re so pretty.
Yeah your first find does look like it holds a ribbon that a medal hangs from
Loads of fun thank you ladies ! Mary Pin? looks like a stamper or Wax tamper. Take care ladies!
I played Tiddily Winks as a child. They were plastic of course in the '60's. About 55-60 years ago for this old lady. I was trying to teach my grandpeeps the game a couple of months ago. I think they need another year or two under their belts to grasp the concept a bit better though. Your videos are still a favorite of mine❣
We played tiddly winks, too, as kids!
Great finds. I love your cat so pretty
Always love to see the variety of mourning buttons, so many pretty pieces!
Outstanding video thanks for sharing with us. ❤
I'm pretty sure it belonged to Mary, Queen of Scots, and is worth an absolute fortune.
You two found a lot of really cool finds. Those jet buttons are beautiful. Such a pretty kitty. . I really enjoy your videos .pretty beads too . Mary pin was neat too.
We had a game in the 1970s or 80s in the U.S. called Tiddlywinks. Same game, plastic pieces. That’s wild it was an old game played with bone pieces!
Codd marbles, pipe bowls and bottle stops, oh my! You could sell sets! Love watching!❤🇺🇸
