You need:
○ USB (2.0) stick with 2GB - 16GB of storage
○ Up to 2 hours of time
○ A Mazda 3 with an ok battery
Windows is recommended for handling the USB stick.

I'm thinking about doing a new video series on preparing, updating v70+, and changing hardware on the Mazda 3 to get genuine Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. What are your thoughts?

I think that would be a great idea. Many steps online don’t have videos to go along with them.
Question: if one switches fw from JP M to another region like EU N or 4A N would that be a problem in terms of bricking the CMU or would certain features just not work like before like fm frequencies displayed?

Are the hardware upgrades a requirement of v70+?
ecm2147 The hardware upgrade (new USB ports) is not necessary for 70+ firmware but 70+ firmware is necessary for the hardware upgrade (which is essential for Android Auto / Apple CarPlay).
I installed the NA 59.00.502A upgrade on my CX-5 2017 and it worked perfectly! Took about 20 minutes to do the whole process. Thanks for this great Infotainment Upgrade video !
I think this video is clear, well-paced and unambiguous. I like that you mentioned specific thing that should not be done during the whole process. (The ”mazda3 update land” comment made me chuckle btw)

Great video. Really helpful. It failed a couple of times so I had to start again. Had me pretty scared. Worked perfectly 3rd time around.

Terrific guide - Hands down, really just amazing.
I updated from "55.00.760 NA N" to "59.00.760 NA N" in less than 40 minutes. I assume this is based on the fact that I was updating from a closer image file (maybe?). Either way, following the steps works perfectly.
Thank you again for this!!!!! Mazda wanted $230 for this, being as I recently hit my mileage for the lease. I will just manually do them myself going forward.

Just did this on my Mazda 3 (Australian) with the cmu150_ADR56.00.513 software update. The car turned itself off at about 30% of the OS update but as soon as i turned the car on again it continued from about 20% so I continued the update with the engine on and it worked! Cheers

This is the good procedure, ive worked in a Mazda Dealership! WE really use Fat32 thumb drives ahaha, but we actualy put a battery charger while doing the upgrades

Boom Shalaka hello there I had a question seeing as you have worked at a Mazda place. What is the test code to get to the toggle screens and to activate the WLAN on the 2017 cx5s ?
is it recommended to rely on the battery? Or maybe I should drive around with I-stop disabled to fill up the juice?
Do you guys update all cars that go in for service, or do you need to ask/inform the owner first. I'm asking this because mine is modded with Android Auto and I don't want the dealer messing it up.

few tips:
- didn't work with three different usb dongles, until i took one of them and formatted using gparted in linux (ubuntu), copied files and it worked..
- during the upgrade, i left the car, came back 45 minutes later, and the car was in sleep mode (screen black, turned off, orange light was off), i turned on the car and the MZD connect asked to check if the dongle is still connected, and resumed the upgrade at 20%
-everything else as shown in video

SO I see you have uploaded v56 for the EU. Do you have a NA version? The previous link no longer works.
I did the update yesterday. I stayed in the car all the time and pressed the brake as instructed. Nevertheless the car turned off after some time. After a restart the update continued but I also changed the volume and pressed the mute button from time to time during the second try. After that it worked flawlessly.
Same with me - I am guessing you're in a manual. Need to press the clutch pedel to keep it alive. Brake has no effect

Great video Hype. I have a question.. my North American 2014 Mazda 3 GT shows OS 30.00.300. I have cmu150_NA_55.00.753A on file. You mentioned in your thread that I need to have the correct version with correct suffixes. How do I know if I need versions with "A" or "N" or etc?

Mostly just a more stable system. A new and important feature for me was that when muting the cars navigation system that the left speaker doesn't mute playing music anymore.

Do I need to press the break pedal every 20 mins during the Reinstallation Package install as you indicated to do during the failsafe install?
Patrick Gamet Yes you should press the pedal every x minutes to interrupt the automatic standby. Depending on how long flashing of either package takes you might or might not have to do it.

I don't know. Someone else just commented that it worked on a Mazda 2. I suggest you consult some Mazda forums about it.

Hi, do you know what are the versions for a car bought in South America? I guess EU is European Union, NA is North America, and then there is some ADR which should be the rest. Can you confirm?

When formatting the drive on a Mac, do you use ExFat or MS-DOS (FAT)? Which scheme (GUID or Master Boot Record)?
In macOS use the MS-DOS/FAT option with Master Boot Record.
Hallo super erklärt!Jedoch stellen sich mir trotzdem ein paar fragen.AVC DTC,was hat das ein bzw. ausschalten zu bedeuten bzw was ist das ? Und dauert das Update ca.2 Stunden ? Muss ich da Angst haben zu vergessen jedes Mal nach 20 min einmal die Bremse zu drücken damit mir das Display nicht ausgeht? :/
Kamil P Was die Abkürzungen bedeuten weiss ich selber nicht. Diese sind aus einer anderen Anleitung übernommen.
Und ja du musst immer wieder die Bremse Pedale betätigen, damit nichts abbricht. Hat bei dir das Update geklappt?
Dtc stehen für diagnostic trouble codes. Also für fehlerspeichereinträge.

Hi Peter, ne deutsche Version vom Video wird's nicht geben. Bei UA-cam gibt es die Möglichkeit Untertitel in verschiedenen Sprachen für Videos einzureichen. Wenn das jemand auf deutsch machen würde, wäre ich sehr dankbar.
Zum Zeitpunkt als ich das Video gemacht hab war 56.00.512 die aktuellste Version für EU. ADR ist für andere Gebiete und kann möglicherweise Probleme mit der verbauten Hardware von EU-Modellen verursachen. Deutsche Sprache gibt es bei ADR auch nicht. Ich empfehle dir nur die aktuellste Version für EU zu installieren.
