Excellent video. More complete than my deal for my 2017 CX5 gave. The only issue I have with the Info System is that for satellite radio in Canada, the song / artist text gets cut off and the station art tags do not show. Almost every other car model shows that information (Kia, Ford, etc.). A small thing but when you spend hours a day in the car, it becomes a big thing. Are there any plans for Mazda to upgrade the software as I really feel if you are paying for their premium package, it should at least meet what their competition has.

Mazda's got one the of cleanest dashes, love it. Simple clean. The screen is perfect and exactly where it should be, as that's where I would put my phone, now I can keep my phone in my pocket!

Lots of questions here not answered. Like using navigation with radio?
When entering a street name the system picks up the incorrect street and won’t allow me to continue entering the correct spelling of the street or location, the keyboard seems to close not allowing the full spelling of the street or suburb to be entered .
Great video. Activate text notification off the iPhone go into settings, Bluetooth, Mazda then enable notifications hope that helps thanks again for the video very informative.

you can get texts witht 2 moves go to bluetooth in your iphone setings find mazda and click (i) on right side then turn on notifications , done, sometimes iphone restart is required to start working.

4:53 Warning Guidance had nothing to do with HD Radio. If your Low Fuel, Check Engine, Service Interval, Tire Pressure, or other warning lights come on, this menu will further explain what that light means.

Is there an update to enable MirrorLink or Android Auto/Apple Carplay? That would be a way to use your phones navigation while making good use of the MZD Connect screen :)
you have to update the firmware before you install CP/AA. you can update the frimware yourself. It has to be v70 otherwise it won't work. i am adding the link for the mazda forum where you will find all the info how to install CarPlay/Android Auto. Then you just need to buy the new aux hub and two cables. Again all info is in the forum.

I would like to know what year your Mazda is as some of the features you're showing I don't see on my 2016 CX5. Also, I know you were trying to cover alot but this ws a bit too fast-paced for me as I would have liked to have known that in order to play music from Pandora, does that mean I would have needed to play it from my phone meaning have the pandora app on my phone and then used bluetooth so I could play it from the radio? I'm lost there in how to use those other features such as aha stitcher, pandora, etc.

In Mazda three infotainment system to get your iPhone to work with notifications. Go into settings, Bluetooth, Mazda then enable notifications. Hope that helps

Considering a 2017 or 2018 Mazda6 so I'm researching features. Looks like you can operate your iphone through the touchscreen but he didn't cover any of that in this video. Question is, does the Mazda system allow you to see and change Apple Music tracks, playlists and what not from the touch screen? And if so, how much functionality is available via the Mazda touchscreen. For example, can you see next up or set the repeat/shuffle features from the in-car screen? Can you see your playlists, library, or use Apple Music's browse feature? Just curious.

Fast paced and comprehensive. Thanks. One question. Is there a way to edit the address of a favorite place from just the address numbers/street to the name of that location? For example, instead of saying in voice command the entire address number/street, is there a way to edit that so that I can say the name of the person who lives at that location while in voice command?

Yes you can rename them as a favorite. Very easy to do. Go to previous destination, hold down the star to save as a favorite. And then it will be included on your favorite list under the navigation tab. Once renamed you can call it out through voice command.

Pretty much the only different in the exterior is the side marker light on the 2016 being a triangle but on the 2017 model its more like a line extending from the projector.

Since Mazda 2 & Mazda CX3 are much the same as Toyota Yaris iA, I wonder if the Yaris ia has the Mazda connect system also?
yes it does. It's built by Mazda at their factory in Mexico but sold by Toyota since they now have a partnership. They Yaris iA is a Mazda 2 sedan

Excellent video and very comprehensive. One question. I have a 2017 Mazda CX-3 with the navigation. Is there a way to hide the bottom menu buttons so they stay hidden when the nav screen is displayed, without having to hit the "hide" button each time the car is turned on or screen is changed? I want to have them hidden permanently unless I need to have them displayed. Thanks.

What languages can you choose?
I have watched videos looked trough the manual. I have seen in all Mazda videos how you can change just about every option. The option I haven't seen is something that should be there if it's in a phone why wouldn't it be in a car navigation system? If there is a way to turn up the sound on the navigation iv'e yet to find it. I turn down the music and it does nothing for navigation sound. Why can't it be as loud as the voice option. This is very disappointing feature for me. I don't like not hearing the navigation. Is this a glitch or just the way it's supposed to be. HELP please.

no, not the fog.
GPS is not showing any traffic - beside the history stuff. That's mostly useless as about anyone knows where there's always traffic everyday.. What the traffic feature is use for is to know if there's an accident or a delay on a route where usually the traffic is not that bad, and the Mazda system can't do that while such feature is available these days on about any cheap GPS.
Mazda Traffic GPS feature is simply not working and it is being advertise as this option is a key feature.

They will include it on 2019 Mazda 3 coming out in November 2018. However, it is already a part of Mazda 6 208 version.
Ive got a question guys. Will help me out alot. I have a mazda cx5. When you use the sat nav, when the audio directs or alerts you where to go.. does the alert/warning speaker warn you only on the right side of the car speakers?? At the same time the left side would be the music/radio and it will lower in volume? Then resume both sides of speakers going back to normal volume after the sat nav warning/guidance finish speaking?
The navigation only plays on the driver's side speakers. I'm in the US, so that's the left side for me.

Just got the confirmation! The mute act as an "off" button. They didnt add a "off" feature because it would have turned off all the bluetooth feature and connectivity.

while you display the map? yes it can.
the radio is always active and will lover volume if there is a turn indication coming soon.

12:52 it's nothing to do with the car, the texts and notifications menus work fine on my Android. It is clearly an iOS issue.
Rhys Jackson not sure if this is still relevant but if you go into your phone settings and go to Bluetooth it will come up with my devices. Click the blue I button next to Mazda and make sure show notifications is on. It seems to turn off with some iOS updates
For the i Touring version, the Security Settings are displayed or just shows an empty window?
Have a 2016 Mazda 6, nav system often locks up, I'll have no satellites tracking me and when it is working it will have me driving in corn fields, into rivers and when I'm on a main road it will have me driving on streets in subdivisions. It works about 20 percent of the time. What give?

I'd suggest format the Navigation SD card (in the small compartment between the driver and front passenger seats) and add the navigation maps again to it....I have the same model/year car.....better have the dealership format and add the navigation again back to the SD card....
It was a bad CPU which was replaced and it works fine.

I asked this Q to the Mazda Canada FB page and they said that Android Auto and CarPlay are coming 'soon' to all models (no fixed date though)....but the good thing is that they said that existing Mazda Connect systems will be upgradable to it too thru the dealerships......hope that really turns out to be the case!

This system crashes often and the screen and the CMU breaks often. It cost me $1000 twice to replace the CMU.
what is that battery icon on the display it shows low on my cx 5 how I fix that??

I have the new CX5 and this Nav system is basically useless. Searching for streets is painful. I often can't even find the street I am looking for. I use google maps now because this system gets 1 out of 10 stars. Great car... weak nav system.

As a 2017 CX5 owner, I think the nav system is great. It doesn't do a great job of giving you ideas of where to go (for example if you search for "shoe", it will only give you stores with "shoe" in the title, which not all shoe stores do), but if you know where you're going, or want to search within a pre-defined category, it does fine.

No, you should get in and drive one, it's in the best possible place, definitely not an afterthought.
the screen position is perfect, i love that its high up so you dont have to look to far away from the road, you should test drive a mazda.. the quality of the interior is amazing
It's in the perfect place! Just look to the right a little and there it is! You can still see everything in the road from your peripheral vision!
The satnav on my 2019 UK spec CX5 is so basic that its actually embarrassing. The graphics are poor and route direction is woeful. Terrible, just terrible, a £70 off the shelf plug in gives a better road layout and clearer more up to date maps. Mazda, you should be ashamed of yourselves for putting such rubbish in your cars.
