    Excellent video. Especially your explanation where and why wear occurs and the end result if not looked after. Good job.

      @@wendelinbittner9054 Most certainly! My secondary isn't moving AT ALL. I don't have a spring compressor, can't find one on amazon. I might just take it in for service. I just had to clean my primary which was CAKED in clay like grease, really nasty. My secondary doesn't open at all when revving so I think it's the same as the first, totally caked grease / dirty / seized.

    You're the only one to mention that sheave back and forth movement. I think mine a bit abnormal and gave vibration during take off. Can it be the one caused it?,

    • @wendelinbittner9054
      @wendelinbittner9054 Рік тому +1

      I can't be 100% certain but I would highly doubt that it's the cause of a vibration on takeoff. The movement back and forth is more a sign of wear in the pins or ramps. After too much wear the inner rivet heads can collide and tear off.

    If the secondary clutch in my 2003 kodiak 400 whines in low rpm only does that mean I should do this service? I serviced the rollers in the primary but now have a little whine that seams to be coming from the secondary. Well. That’s what it seems like trying to listen through the cover. Lol

      Hi Glen, its a little hard to say what the cause of the whine is. You could pull the cover off and run it in neutral or park and run the rpm that makes the sound and try and narrow down where the sound is coming from. I tend to think it won't be from the secondary but it's hard to say. It also could be a bad one way bearing behind the primary. Or a bad roller bearing behind either primary or secondary. Maybe a worn belt or contamination on the clutch faces. I'm just shooting out ideas of some things to try to find the whine location or cause.

      Thanks for the reply. I will pull cover again. I cleans primary clutch and regressed everything. Didn’t do anything to secondary. Will look it to. Thanks for the videos!

      Pulled the cover off. The belt is riding higher. I put a 1.5mm shim on the primary. But I was getting the wear noise before the shim kit. It actually started after a couple water crossings and some belt slippage trying to get the bike home. Could I have stretched the belt with the heat and water coming in the air intake for the cct?

      I will pull the secondary apart as I can only use one bolt to expand the secondary shives. The other bolt hole I can’t get it to run in and push out shives.

    Hello, do I put grease on the inside of the other sheave that slides on to the shaft?

    • @grizzlyclutchtools1712
      @grizzlyclutchtools1712  3 роки тому +1

      The splined shaft and sheave that goes on it does not actually need grease on it. You can put a slight film on it if you wish, this will help prevent corrosion a bit. But the 22mm nut holds the sheave on to the splined shaft and they turn together, so lubrication in that area is not super necessary. I hope that answers your question.

      @@grizzlyclutchtools1712 thats what I figured. I just have seen videos that put grease on the shafts and some that don't. I just looked it up on the maintenance book and it showed to put some in the collers
