Sedans don't technically have a "door" for a boot/trunk because only the trunk area opens, not the glass. Hence, sedans are commonly referred to as four-door. Same with coupes without a fastback-style rear end, they're "two-door".
TL;DR - hatchback/fastback/wagon/shooting-brake = 3/5 door
sedan/coupe = 2/4 door
