I had just saved it to keep for future ref. and increase my pc knowledge.. :) i b 1 of the dumb guys :) you make videos for, and I could tell you were a computer guy...and not a hack..and not peddling PAID software. So i'm subscribed, wanted to thank you and will be looking forward to more computer guy stuff. :)
As a tech with over 30 years experience myself, two things I would have done different. 1) Run in SMWN. Like for real. You have over 30 years experience, you should be able to tell people how to get to SMWN so that even 90 year old grandma can do it and being on UA-cam with the added ability to have it on video is just being lazy and does not have the benefit of a clear environment. 2) Run not just TRON script but RKill as ADMIN this goes without saying. A good video and kudos for what you are trying to do, but I do question some of your methods as this is the kind of thing a Garage Tech does vs those that have worked in a call center/helpdesk/corporate support would do things. Overall a lot of the same tools I would use manually in a script it's just I would have done this a bit different even knowing who the target audience is.
Remember when feeding trolls and the brand-boozeld , no good deed goes un punished . I though it was a great video, especially about not every good tool has to cost money as the brand-boozeld people seem to believe . That video got my sub.
I once had a rather well known security UA-camr tell me I was shilling for keepass because I suggested that over the online password manager they were suggesting that ended up getting hacked. Like AYCG said I didn't understand how I can shill for a free software or even why I would shill for them since they are not paying for advertising anywhere else.
I am retired now, was a network security engineer for almost 40 years and my advice is to just ignore the trolls, everything you said was bang on. In rare cases you will need to do something more to solve some ransomware, but for most bugs/malware/viruses...you nailed the best way to get rid of them. Good job.
I too am a retired Cyber Security engineer for one the largest companies in the UK for the past 42 years and what you have advise is very helpful thank you. Sure we sold customers some great products to protect them but not everyone can afford services like CrowdStrike and Zscaler security.
@@smokescreen2146 Yes, it is. "You don't swat mosquitos with an atomic bomb." Like he said, John Q. Public doesn't know how to format his hard drive and re-install his programs and restore his data. John Q. Public is lucky if he has a backup at all. If the tron script happens to not clean the system, THEN he can format the hard drive and go to all the trouble of re-installing his software and restoring your data.
I don't speak English and I don't understand, but I translated the gist. You are a person who "walks the earth" and tries to help many lost people. Many thanks for your work, which I also use on a work machine. I wish you good health and peace! Helping others covers a very good soul.
I have maintained my PCs since 1990 and I have only had to take my PC to a tech twice in those 33 years. I did not go to school or take any PC classes. I have learned from people like you and have been very pleased with my results. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me and all the others, like me, who appreciated what you do for us. Please try not to let haters steal your joy.
I do this for a living, all day, every day. I know this guy personally, and can vouch that he truly does know what he's talking about. Are there other, more complicated ways to do it? Sure! But for the average user with an average consumer PC, his advice is always spot on. Plus, I'd guess that he's been doing this longer than most, if not all, those trolls have probably even been alive! 🙄 Great follow up, bro - you're nicer than I would have been. 😂
I appreciate that, Eric. I think most people just assume that the geek way is always better. For them, it is. They don't pay attention to the name of the channel or who it's made for. So I always try to address that, but also acknowledge when they are right ;)
Nice video! Almost a "set it and forget it approach", eh? As someone who has fixed Windows PC problems over 25 years now [for free], I've only seen a few people who actually 'stuck around' to observe what I was doing or what software I was using, etc. Usually after 10 minutes or so, that curiosity is gone and they just want the blasted thing fixed. Most folks just want their PC working again! After watching your earlier video on Tron script I downloaded and examined it To my surprise - I've used almost every single tool in it and still do. First video was informative and useful, as was this one. Sorry the trolls felt the need make themselves known
Thank you. I don't normally put much weight into what they say, especially when they are technically correct. But then.y target audience, which are basically "noobs" their brains melted with "just install Linxu" or "clone your hard drive and run a NAS box", I have to step in. This is not what my ideal audience wants. John Q. Farmer, the 4th generation soybean farmer, just wants his computer to work. That's all he wants. Thx for your comment, much appreciated! 👍💪
I just watched the video you're referencing this morning. It looked pretty good to me! I've been doing PC work (mainly malware removal) for about 20 years now, I don't own any purchased software, so I've literally been making a living using FREE/Opensource software!
Thanks for both the great informative videos regarding Tron! You really helped make a VERY noticeable improvement in a laptop I was on the verge of trashing because it had gotten so slow to respond. Ignore the haters, we do appreciate you taking time to put this information out. I used it on my office computer as well.
I just love the "Windows Antivirus is good enough" comments. People who say that have clearly never worked in a repair shop because they'd know that some people need more robust protection from their online habits and lack of savvy.
Agreed! For *some* people, maybe even *most* people, yes. But too many people like to dabble and click and explore. Those people need an actual AV. Simple as that
I've never trusted Windows Defender. To do so in my view regardless of how little one uses their computer is a complete recipe to get hacked, get nasties and you name it. Maybe they have improved the software over the years however considering how quickly Microsoft rush through everything to do with their software, tweak stuff that actually isn't broken and cause other major issues as a result, there is no way on this this earth that I would trust them to develop a fully secure anti virus programme!!!!
LOL. "I'm not exactly sure how you can push software that's free." That statement was worth the whole video view. Great work - please keep it up....I for one really appreciate it.🏆
Some of these young techies think they know everything after being a tech for couple of years. I have been doing this for 32 years and am still learning a few things here and there. I knew about rkill but not Tron. I'm sure your advice will help non techie folks save a few bills. Thanks for the info.
Thank you so much! My computer just got infected, I found your video and it saved me the cost of having to pay a professional to do the job. I am so happy I took the time to watch it. You're a real life saver! Much appreciated 😊🎉🎉🎉
Been there, worn the T shirt. All you are doing is trying to help people by giving information. What we do with the information is our choice. Thank you for your help, advice and consideration.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Seems that no matter what I do to help, there will always be trolls or, at best, know-it-alls. I make videos for novices, not experts, and it's the experts that always want to take my simple stuff and make it hugely complicated. I think this video was just a way for me to vent LOL 😂
The only thing I must say is thanks a lot man !!! I saw your previous video and you saved my life with your advice about tronscript; I've an old desktop PC which is using Windows 7; it was very slow and I didn't even use Avast or Malwarebites on it, because it always got frozen, so I had to inactivate the antivirus in order to navegate through the internet (which made my computer more vulnerable). I saw you video and I gave Tronscript a chance, and it was like magic; my PC is virus free and is fast again; I even are using Avast free without any issues to navegate through internet. THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR RECOMENDATION MATE !!!
Super antispyware is like malwarebytes, but not as resource hungry, and its found trojans that malwarebites missed, and visa versa, i run both a couple of times a week, then turn them off
@@g4wwk-k2fI forgot about SAS. I will look into it again. It's been years. But I've always trusted MBAM since it absolutely saved my PC years ago, when it had an early version of a GUI (looked like Win98).
The updates you gave in the first couple of minutes of this video alone where fine. Don't give those trolls a podium, for every intelligent thing you say, they can say 20 stupid things, and if you keep defending... they win.
06:14 - Agree with your response on this one. The fact that you can customise things doesn't mean you have to, or that doing so proves some kind of deeper understanding. Some of us are quite content with many of the default settings/layouts. I'd don't quite have the 40 years experience of one of the other respondents, but I'm clocking 35 years and change in IT - 17 years in Internet Security - and on my Windows installs I basically reduce the default icon size & scaling, swap out the desktop for a plain colour and turn off the news function. Everything else I leave as it is - but then I run Windows where I have to and all my other machines use Linux ;o)
I'm not a techie kind of person, but about the time of WfW 3.11, I realized that I should NOT customize my own machine, because that would slow me down whenever I was working on another one (which happened not infrequently in my case). Learn how to be efficient with what Microsoft gives you. Don't get around much any more, so I set up Cinnamon to my tastes, just a bit.
Well I know that video did help me very much. Someone had remote access on my laptop. Thankfully I saw it right away in real time. I shutdown my laptop for over a month. I don't have the money right now to pay to have it fixed. Your information helped me fix my laptop for free. Thank you very much!
That is awesome to hear! I don't usually promote software unless I've thoroughly tested and verified it. I knew my viewers would benefit from it! Thanks so much for your comment! :)
Don't worry about the tools bro. Obviously they haven't a clue what they are talking about. I have been working on Comps since about 1995 and lately some of the tech has gotten away from me but viruses and the like are still pretty much like they always have been. It is just awesome that they are so easy to remove now because I remember back in the day having to manually remove them from various places on the machine and it could take hours trying to find them like the run files in the registry and anywhere else you can think of. The ones I had trouble with were the nasty ones that would get in your host files. Anyway that's all under the bridge now with all the great FREE OPEN SOURCE stuff out there. I have never paid for any cleaner of any kind and I never will and I never!...let me repeat...never! get viruses on my computers. Your video was just plain awesome and extremely helpful to people who are not very computer literate. Keep up the great work!
I, myself, Like you have been in the Tech field for over 30 years. When I saw your video on Tron and rkill, I chuckled just a little cause I use this method and have been using this method for quite some time. It works. enough said. You were quite a bit more friendly with your responses from the neighboring trolls. hehe. Myself, I doubt I'd have been so nice about it, but at the same time I understand that adding fuel to a fire makes a bigger fire...So I like the presentation you gave first video, with the exception of a couple things I thought needed noting, but as for a lot of people being "Non-Tech" folks, this is one of the easiest ways to rid your PC of malware and viruses. So Great job.
Thank you for the honest and objective feedback. I'm not a UA-camr. I'm a PC guy who makes videos on UA-cam, so I do make mistakes from time to time, and try to acknowledge them for my viewers. Trolls will be Trolls. I don't mind them voicing their opinions, but as you know, the average Joe out there can't do all the things they suggest, and those people are my primary audience. It was just good (and mostly correct) comments, just placed on the wrong channel. That's how I see it
Thank you for sharing your expertise on computers and software. You helped me learn a new way of protecting our home pcs. Thanks again....good critiques can help but trolling never does.
I got great use from your original video. Installed the two programs onto a usb stick to have handy for my pc, laptop, and moms pc. Two thumbs up Computer Guy.
Your video saved me a lot of frustration. I was not able to remove the "PC app store" because the uninstall file was missing. I was dumb and needed WhatsApp on my computer to talk to a few people. Doing it on my cell was becoming laborious. I chose the first option to install "WhatsApp" and that came bundled with "PC Store". I didn't even want to use "WhatsApp" a Facebook group, Discord or even an email would have been much easier.
I've been in IT since 1980. You do a great job. It's never too late to see what the other IT guys are doing and pick up a new trick here and there. Tron script from you is one of them. [respect]
Very gentle version of telling the haters to take a powder. And I can vouch for your advice about Tronscript, though I'm really not a huge fan of anything McAfee..
Thanks! My laptop is finally back to a decent speed. Without your video I was looking at a complete factory reset because a restore had even failed. Great job. You got a subscribe, a thumbs up, and some tangible support.
I refurb laptops as a hobby and sometimes its so hard to diagnose quite what is wrong sometimes. This is really helpful, so thank you for this video and your channel.
I just found your channel and loved it! I am a computer enthusiast, and although you may say that your channel was not made for me, I have to tell you that I find it very educational and entertaining. I love Tron because even if I know what I am doing, it just saves me time, and does other maintenance tasks that I didn't even consider before. Everyone is a critic, and trolls need not be fed.
I watch this channel to refresh some of the methods I forgotten to use or better faster easier solutions can be discovered. You can never stop learning.
dude I used the tron vid, I was about to buy a computer this black friday. I no longer need a new computer. it works as good as new, no lag of any kind while 4 hours ago it was lagging as if I was on dial up. thank you very much! needles to say auto-subscribed.
I watched your first video, and yes CCleaner did put me off as it was found with a virus, so thanks for the update, and I love your retort against stupid remarks, and if I was still using Windows this would be good, but I am now with Linux, as I can't run Windows 11 on my Lenovo T430 that I love so Thanks Bob from the UK
Thank you sir. I appreciate what you're doing. Now all I gotta do is slow the TRON vid so I can follow it better. This is not an argument on any vid you're making. I'm just an ol'' man (66) enjoying my computer, and trying to keep it safe. 🙂 I have also taken the liberty in subscribing to the channel.
Honestly I was uneasy about using the links you provided on that video but then I say what the heck I've got nothing else to loose. black fridays is in few days. It totally work. Fear mongering is rampant about free software. combine that with lack of computer knowledge and you have companies like dell charging north of 150 for one time help. I'm glad I took the chance.
Damn i just learn that i must turn off Kaspersky and restart before using Tron. Oh well ! Nothing bad happen, i will know next time. I feel like i lost something on my task bar, but can't figure out what. Thanks for letting me know about Tron. It's very useful to clean and make my pc work a little better.
Don't let them get to you. I can say that I ran these two programs on my computer. No viruses were found but when Tron had finished it did correct some other issues. Couldn't get my Dymo printer to connect, tried several attempts. But when Tron finished it connected with no problem and my computer runs better on no "Blue Screen". Keep up the great work. Thanks,
I just discovered your videos and I think they are great! I know a few things about Windows but mostly just enough to get in trouble. Your videos now get me out of trouble as I'm sure they do for many others. I now subscribe to your page to make sure I've got all of your videos handy when I need them. Keep up the great work and ignore the trolls.
Scott, along with many others, is providing a valuable service to those less inclined or unable to learn the inner workings of computer software. To expect every video to be a complete, irrefutable, and completely error-free lesson is unreasonable and, frankly, impossible. My first computer was a (1986) Tandy 1000SX with 5-1/4 floppies and NO HardDrive, with which I learned DOS Basic and developed some of my own programs. Since then, I've used every Microsoft OS version (except Win 10, graduating straight from 8.1 to 11) and "built" 3 computers. I still watch every, single one of Ask Your Computer Guy's videos and learn something, and most often lots of things, from each one. If the know-it-alls of the computer world can;t think before they speak when finding criticism about a certain video, they reveal more about themselves than the content creator they're criticizing. Watch and learn, friends.
I've worked on computers for 18 years now. I haven't heard about Tron script until now! I definitely appreciate what you do. Everybody that does this sort of thing has their own methods, it's a closed minded individual who is not willing to try something different and an outright ass that criticises others who are willing to help. Keep doing what you do, it's a good thing!
I got out of the Navy in 1981. I started in the field of computers in 1982 and am still working as a Lead Software Engineer and Solutions Architect (I'd rather be hands on than in management) for one of the largest IT companies in the world. I'd say I have experience. I also say this man is legit and is helping people at their level. Not all computer geeks need to prove how smart they are on a daily basis. Great job!
You are a great teacher. You are so easy to understand because you speak slowly so that slow learners like myself can follow you. No matter how good you are there are always going to be people out there who will criticize you because they are jealous or whatever other reason. Just be assured that there are more people out here who appreciate you, than there are jerks like that. Thank you.
I was surprised to find a video of you responding to all of the backlash from that video. Personally I think you did a few things during the video that I did not agree with, such as: -Running multiple processing heavy Programs at once (puts strain on the computer but may possibly be faster overall) -Running a Clean/Defrag Process at the start of the job (this is personal preference, in terms of actual results you wont gain too much from optimizing and cleaning the system afterwards but you will still catch more. Also defrags and cleans can move around cleverly hidden programs, actually helping them to stay hidden from scans.) -Not running other types of scans/checking other areas. eg repairing drives, checking network drives/firewalls/physically connected devices. -Not configuring Tron Script to run custom parameters for your use case. (You addressed this one! great job!) -Using CCleaner with the default options despite its bad rep. (again you addressed this one and peoples concerns, Great job!) --------------------- Aside from those issues, yoy explained everything very simply and spoke very well. You seem very knowledgeable about this area of computers and I dont doubt your skill despite your actions. Also I am not claiming to know any more about this than the average user. Overall, great video and I am very happy you made a response video! Great Job recommending Tron Script, I like what it offers, you may have also liked to mention that it has other functions such as patching and editing things on your computer for protection and extra bloat removal/tracking. Adding to this, you may want to repeat to people that open source doesnt mean bad, it simply means the code is readable and usually able to be taken and used freely. Great Stuff!
Thank you so much for helping people. I don't have any problems with my computer at this time but I'm very glad to know what to do in case I do have a problem in the future.
Don't get discouraged by the trolls. I've been it IT all my life, since PC's first came out and your channel is very helpful. I refer people to your videos all the time. Keep up the good work.
thank you, my friend! I'm not perfect and sometimes I misspeak (and sometimes I'm flat out wrong) ...but I've done this a long time and won't stop because of a few people that just want to show they are "smarter" than "that guy on UA-cam". I will just keep making videos and the haters can keep hating :)
@4:28 - To be fair - I an am old computer head. As a Mindspring tech rep from prior to the 56K modem days (like when the building got a T1 line, we all cheered), I can honestly say that I HAVE walked customers thorough reinstalling DUN (i won't explain that) and on 3 or 4 occasions - reinstalling Windows over a POTS line and speaking with a real human - providing that they had either a valid install disk or the .cab files in their proper directory (old heads will understand.) When the tech was that good, I thrived. When calls became about numbers, i left.
I watched the video you are referring to. I didn't see anything wrong with it. In fact, if for no other reason, I thought it was a good maintenance video for people to follow to set up a regular computer maintenance routine. I do mine around every six months or so. Sooner if my machine starts running rough. I dont find computer anti-virus software of any kind to be all that reassuring. There is no such thing as 100% protection from virus or malware. (no, I am not saying dont install one. Any protection is better than no protection.) If you are connected to the internet, you WILL get Malware and various viruses. (plus the every day occurrence of having broken/dead registry links from normal everyday use.) Knowing how to deal with the most common of these can save you money in bench fees you could have taken care of yourself. Not to mention the self satisfying feeling that you learned something you didn't know anything about before. For instance, I'll be looking into the Tronscript program to add to my arsenal of cleaning software. (many of which you have already mentioned in your video.) I think people just get confused between everyday annoyances, and dangerous software written specifically to cripple your computer. Those programs require more specific attention and are dangerous even to experienced repair techs. I found your video to be an excellent walkthrough for the most aggravating problems that can be taken care of by the average user.
Good point about AV software. It's like masks against respiratory diseases: no perfect answer, but they shift the odds in your favour, and pro sports teams will spend a lot of money to get a 5% improvement in their chances.
Thank you, I am "that farmer" who understands almost nothing when I get into trouble such as this. When I watched how it is done, I kept saying to myself, I can do this.
Repair shop tech here. Have used ccleaner for years. Love it. as you said, its for getting the trash off your pc so the other programs can run better. If you don't have haters, your not doing something right.
I think you are great, and I don't need to know everything just how to follow your instructions. Let thoses other people go make their own video. Keep up the good work at helping people like me!
Your video was helpful and informative. Your tips were good for a wide variety of issues. There will always be trolls. Ignore them. There really is no one click fix all so every bit of solution that actually makes a difference is a plus. I mean if they really want to be picky, tell them to run something like a real time debugger that loads before windows and watch the assembly code to really make a surgical strike step by step as everything loads up. The guide was clear enough that my grandmother could follow it. Don't let the haters deter you. Sensible people appreciate your efforts. 👍
I worry a bit about fully automated PC tools cause, especially in the old days (win xp etc) I saw so many people essentially "repair" their computers to death, and "clean" their computers to death. Norton's was a *great* program on mac, but then when I started using and working on windows pc's and there was this "registry" thing... lol that was a whole new nightmare and what I quickly discovered was, in the hands of somebody who didn't know what they were doing, norton could be a flat out pc killer. So, yeah, it was safe to *scan* a computer with most of those automated tools, but *then* you really needed to go over each and every one of the "suggested fixes" to see what the things were actually planning to do to "fix" the "problem". And a lot of times the so called problems were NOT actual problems, and the FIXes often could make matters worse, or even cause new problems. And, man, so many people were essentially *addicted* to making sure their computers were *completely clean* and had no *errors* and were *fully optimized*, and would have multiple different products trying to do essentially the same job, which often resulted in a total clusterfu... well, a *reeeeeally* big mess lol Anyway, these fears are largely based on experiences from a decade or more ago, but even though I know the technology has surely advanced accordingly, they still linger. I'm glad you've made this video to help others, and hey, it might even help me some day! :D I hope I never need it, but having seen TRON in the theater back when it came out, I love the reference and it's one I can remember ;D But I'm hesitant to use it myself. It's sort of like how I used to know a guy who was *REALLY* good at cleaning house. I mean, there was NO question that he was good at what he did. But... His idea of what things are important, or necessary, and what has value and what doesn't, differed from mine. So what invariably happened was, whenever he came over and helped clean up the house, was later on I'd find stuff missing, and after looking around everywhere I'd end up back at my trash cans, having to dig out a bunch of stuff that was *important to me*, but was useless clutter/junk to him. (I have a lot of hobbies, and having a lot of hobbies, means you have to have a lot of hobby related stuff lol) And that's largely what I fear. Is that if I use an automated repair tool/cleaner/etc, I might find myself later having issues and I won't know what's missing, or broken, or changed, because *I* wasn't the one who did it (whatever it was). But I know a guy who's addicted to downloading free games and modified game exe's cause he is totally addicted to cheating and essentially playing every game in god mode, and that means 90% of the sites he visits are probably loaded with mallware bombs and honey traps, and... If HE needs me to fix his computer again, I'd have no qualms about using this to sort out the issues lol just pull the pin and run ;) I do need to look up something to check my PC though... Not because I know of any particular issue with it... But rather *the opposite*. As in, the longer I go without "catching" anything from the internet, while doing practically nothing to prevent it (other than just windows defender and reasonably safe browsing habits), the more i get the nagging suspicion that maybe something HAS snuck onto my system and it's just really good at hiding... lol So I think I might look up at least a nice *scan* tool. I've used mallwarebytes before when I've felt a need to check something, but it's been a long time. I'll probably start there. anyway, take care and pbbt the trolls! ;D
Thank you for the valuable information you share. Please do not waste time by reading unfair and illogical critics and please share more helpful information.
Never mind the trolls! I appreciate your work, just came cross the channel today and already shared a link to your video. I have a brand new computer, and you better believe I'll make the emergency recovery folder as you suggested. THANK YOU
Retired IT guy here, ignore the critics. Your target audience would have been able to follow your actions and make a good attempt at resolving their issues. Good work bro, keep the good advice coming.
What most people don't understand about open-source software is besides being free, as a user of the software you can make suggestions for improvements or new features. You don't have to be a program. You can also report on anything in the software that isn't work. Open-source software is always changing.
Interesting video. Some people have what us Aussies call: Tall poppy syndrome!!! In other words they have to knock down someone who either knows more than them or are better than them. Keep it up. I accidently came across your channel yesterday and made a few comments and you were so quick to reply that I'm gobsmacked to say the least. Now to my comments if I may. I tried Tron script on 2 different computers. Computer A, my own new laptop. and Computer B a friend's computer who doesn't run any anti virus programme, the Malwarebytes had stopped because she didn't elect to run the free version after the trial period however does run CCleaner (which I installed ages ago for her). Here are my results: I'll start with computer B first: Computer B: (Friend's computer - running Windows 10, 4GB Ram). Basically the Trons scrpt ran however except for RKill and Malwarebytes programmes it brought up the error messages: Unable to find the exe files for the other viurs removal programmes it runs. Also said it couldn't find CCleaner exe file. I simply clicked okay and let the software keep running. Overall results: The script freed up approximately 1.2 GB of space on her SSD hard drive, even after reinstalling Malwarebytes prior to running the script and doing the Windows update. Hence whilst the script couldn't find the actual virus removal programmes except for Malwarebytes, it certainly cleaned up her SSD drive. Also noted that none of the Windows settings I had changed prior to running the script were affected. My computer: (Running Windows 11, 32GB Ram): Well. I restarted the computer prior to running Tron and nothing happened. Then in the early stages of running Tron I got a message that there was a Windows update to be downloaded and installed so I clicked out of this, rather than do the update. Basically Tron ran beautifully for about an hour or two however than got hung up on Windows disk clean (which I've since learnt can be a common problem) in stage 1. Basically stayed on the same for over 13 hours. So I ended up closing the programme and shut down the laptop. When I rebooted the computer I went into Updates and the update was not there. Only a HP USB update which had been there prior to installing Tron which will not update. Computer rebooted perfectly and all settings maintained. Conclusion: Before using Tron, do the Windows updates and then turn off the update for 7 days and see whether this will resolve this stalling issue in Tron. From what I understand, when I reopen Tron again, the software will pick up where it left off and hopefully will go along it's merry way. So I'll give this a wee go and see what happens. Overall whilst Tron didn't do all the checking on my friend's computer (which I ran the programme twice to see what would happen) and appeared to stall/hang at a specific point on my computer, it is definitely worth a try. The software can recover a small amount of disk space for other uses and will be good. PS: I've also downloaded the Virtoy (or whatever this software is called) and placed on a USB and included Windows 10 (so if something happens to my friend's computer I'm able to help her) and Windows 11 (if something happens to my computer) and also Linux Mint. Plus did as you suggested and placed a personal folder on this USB stick for an important folder I maintain specific files in. I had never heard of FBackup however, I'm impressed with this software also. I don't know about anyone else however, this is my experience with the Tron software and I'm happy. So ignore the naysayers and the trolls and simply do your thing. Whilst I'm not a computer tech, I do love learning new things re computers and in many instances I can get myself out of trouble relatively quickly. Mainly because I was cyber stalked and cyber hacked for 3 years and my IT friend (who has now passed away) taught me a hellva lot and had been in the IT game for over 20 years. Believe me I learnt the value of running software which will help maintain a clean computer. And, quite frankly the naysayers are probably people who probably run a lot of these viruses and should crawl back under the rock they came from. My 2 cents worth. Well maybe a few dollars worth!!!
Definitely a few dollars worth! Sorry Tron didn't give the expected results. There are lots of variables, including level of infection (or not), current configuration and security levels, etc. I appreciate the comment about the naysayers. We have what we call here "armchair quarterbacks" - in other words, people who sit on the couch watching professional football and then screaming how THEY could have made that pass. It happens. I don't normally let it get to me, and I welcome comments from anyone who disagrees with me (or in the case of Ventoy, has a better way). What I won't accept is idiots who leave stupid, misleading or hateful comments just because of their own ignorance or inadequacies. Further, my VIEWERS read these comments. They come to this channel for accurate and helpful information, for free, and I don't need armchair quarterbacks who don't know what they are saying, influencing MY community I've worked so hard to build. On a final note, I'm sorry about your friend. But look at how much he taught you...that's something to hold onto ❤️
@@AskYourComputerGuy Many thanks. Update: After clearing out the updates (software distribution folder) and a couple of other minor tweaks, including checking no updates had to be undertaken, as well as setting for not wanting updates for 3 weeks, I again rebooted the computer and opened up Tron. As I was informed by another channel, the Tron software picked up where it left off and went along it's merry way. This time, it was able to do the Windows checks easily and went through the remainder of its processes. It started the Malwarebyes scan all by itself (as I was in noddy land at the time) and completed this check. Basically I got a lovely green screen saying Tron had done it's work. Yea. I think what I will do is simply run this programme every few months (unless I'm advised I have an infection that my usual programmes can't remove) and I then know that it will be okay. In Conclusion: Tron is definitely worth checking one's computer out to ensure all okay. However, if it does hang in the Windows disk check for say 10 hours, simply close the programme and shutdown the computer for a time. Check there are not pending updates that have to be downloaded and installed. Turn off Windows updates for at least 3 weeks. Then clear out the Software Distribution folder in C drive/Windows/Software Distribution. (This is a very safe action to do and will not interfere with Windows). Reboot the computer and open up the Tron software and it will pick up where it left off. Please note: Ensure you don't click anywhere in the command window whilst Tron is running or appears has paused in its processes as this will cause Tron to hang. And, before you undertake the above steps ensure you have left more than enough time for Tron to do its thing. Mine was left for 13 hours, so I would suggest you leave it around this long. It may work doing these steps earlier however, then this is at your own risk. Many thanks for the video and all the info. Very greatly appreciated.
^^^ this! With one caveat...restart your PC before running TronScript, as you want to make sure you have all the Windows updates finished before running. Here's a little secret. Don't tell anyone. Me and a buddy of mine, a crypto and cybersecurity expert, are going to take TronScript and make it 100x better - user friendly with easy to use and follow steps. Stay tuned!
@@AskYourComputerGuy Wow. I'll be waiting with baited breath so to speak!!!! Apologies, reboot is Aussie slang for restart. Thanks for picking this up.
You are brilliant. There are so many dickheads out there and they expose themselves buy stupid comments. I agree Tron is great software and has saved me many times. My favourite saying in life is."Never worry about what people think as most don't " Thanks again.
I despise people that are an expert that look down their nose at anyone that is not as familiar with their field of expertise. Listening to most tech savvy people talking about computers sounds like a foreign language to me. I don't understand 9/10ths what they are talking about and as such I like and appreciate presentations like yours. A classic example of the tech jargon that is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike to the laymen like me is, when talking about cleaning up a computer, being advised to: Uninstall any unnecessary programmes. WARNING - Don't remove any programmes if you don't know what they are as they may harm the way that your computer functions" (or words to that effect). But I don't know what programmes are necessary and those that are not. Consequently I don't remove any because I don't want my computer to stop functioning. Ergo I am non the wiser than I was before receiving the advice and nothing changes.
Probably best to ignore the trolls.. Just do what you do, regardless bud.. There is always somebody better but there is not another you.. Thanks again for the content and keep on truckin..
I appreciate that! I can handle the personal insults. What I can't handle is commenters putting out bad information on my channel, especially when they are 100% wrong. They don't have 30 years experience doing this. They Google something and that becomes their "facts". When I ask to cite sources, they never do 😂
I do agree that the original video was a bit clickbaity and absolutist, and I appreciate the corrections. Otherwise, yes, Tronscript and rkill (which Tronscript uses) are good ways to clean most malware/virus infections, and can easily be used by most non-tech-savvy people. So, good job on the videos letting folks know about them. :) (this coming from a 42-year IT Consultant and dev ;) )
the click bait and all that fluff around it is needed here, on youtube, so it is visible, gets people attention, and pleases the algorithm so to speak, being it mainly tron focused branding for the video, i worry it wouldnt even get to the people whom it might concern
I must admit I did raise an eyebrow when I saw Ccleaner used but your explanation that is was only used to clean the temps made sense. I did find the comment about techs only use customised windows desktops hilarious though as most windows uses (target audience) will change the colour of the task bar to an hideous fuchsia colour, swap the wallpaper to a picture of their dog or grand kids and call it "customised". Even if the user ran something like a debloat script Windows is still a Microsoft product and is pretty much locked down meaning you are only turning things off which is hardly customisation. If you want a fully customised desktop you would be on Arch or other Linux distro not Windows and probably not need a tech video to help you out in the first place. Other than that the video was legit and should be of use to some none Pc experts. Nice work.
People are ignorant. I just learned about tronscrip. It's running as I type this. So far it's removed at least 4 Trojans. Amazing program. Edit just want to add:I'm no dummy when it comes to computers.(I torrent games to test out hence the Trojans) Sure I could have downloaded and launched all the programs separately that tronscrip runs, but why do that when tronscrip does it for you with a simple command, it's an amazingly easy to use program.. My laptop even had a blue screen driver error in the middle and tronscrip recognized where it left off and continued no problem.
Not gonna lie this guys video helped me out so much I’m new into this computer world and I was trying to download a shader for Minecraft and all of a sudden my computer was slow 😂
30+yr PC support vet here. I hear a lot of Dunning-Kruger effect in these comments ('reinstall windows' lol, i tell newer guys in my group, reimaging is admission of defeat😉)(before anyone @'s me, yes i know there's a time & place to reimage, but it's not as often as people do it). I try not to make assumptions about people, but looking back at my own career & personal growth, I absolutely went through a phase where I was overly impressed with my own tech skills & convinced I knew it all. Then I got a job that took me out of IT & into PACS. I was immediately out of my waters, got to work with bona-fide, literal _geniuses_ , & got a grander scale scope of the world. I went in cocky & was quickly chastened. I grew technically, & as an individual; learned humility & am grateful for it. I've since returned to IT but now in healthcare, where my PACS experience is invaluable. I had a moment a couple weeks ago thinking back on my younger self, & older guys chiding me about experience, & then realized, oh shit-- now I'm the older guy 😂
LOL if you only knew how many comments I get DAILY that start with "old man"...one day these pups will learn nothing beats actual experience. You don't get that from a piece of paper 💪
@@AskYourComputerGuy I had a young guy shadowing me a couple months ago-- mid-20s, only about 2-3 yrs into tech work, only 1 other job in a very small scale org, very green still-- & he got to be with me while I dug into a particularly screwy problem with a Citrix-based application. I pulled up regedit & he's suddenly like, "whoa, wait, what is this? r-e-g-e-d-i-t?" & I'm thinking to myself, is this guy trolling me?? Had to stop & roll with it, he'd simply never needed it before, had to learn about it for the 1st time sometime, gave him the broad strokes. He asked me later how I knew what kinds of things I needed to look at to troubleshoot the issue, & all I could tell him, it just comes with time & experience, you just have to learn what tools are available to you & when to use them. It just comes in time. I've kinda taken him under my wing now, try to give him useful tidbits here & there (edit: feeling like something could've come out wrong, I don't want to seem condescending about the guy, & neither that I'm shoving my ideas upon him. I just try to give the guy the information he needs at the moment, & maybe expand a little here & there)🖖
I do. Just gets to me sometimes when I try hard to put quality FREE information out there...just hate armchair quarterbacks. I'll get over it. Thx for the support! 💪
If there's one thing I found 99% of the time with people like B.Gregory , is they failed at something, and felt they deserved the recognition others are getting for the same thing.
Perhaps - I've just learned that people troll because they're lacking something deep down. Some may be just having a crap week. And some people are ugly...just to be ugly 🤷♂️
Tron is excellent. It works perfectly. It was easy to use & it made my windows 10 work perfectly afterwords. & Yes it did get rid of a lot of useless windows bloat-ware which is fine by me. I would use it again if necessary & I recommend it to anyone. Just be sure you know how to prepare to use it & what to expect.
Disregard any of the negative comments what you did was provide a valid service these other people are mostly just idiots trying to throw their two cents in to make themselves sound important. As a computer technician of 16 years I actually do know what I'm talkin about :-) keep up the good work you can't make everybody happy
Thanks! I appreciate your support! It's tough sometimes when you make content for a certain type of user and all the other "tech people" suggest that's what's best for THEM is best for the novice. They're not usually wrong, but they are speaking fluent Russian to French people and getting mad because the French "just don't get it". So I press on and keep making content for the novices and deal with the haters
Watch the video that started it all! 😂 ua-cam.com/video/9hWwY8Lo4ag/v-deo.html
Fantastic! I appreciate your support and glad you enjoy the content :)
Thank you! Glad you appreciated the video for what I was trying to explain ;)
One of the for sure things in life is that there will always be someone who is unhappy about everything.
Ain't that the truth!!! LOL
Good job.
Thank you! 💪
I too am a retired Cyber Security engineer for one the largest companies in the UK for the past 42 years and what you have advise is very helpful thank you. Sure we sold customers some great products to protect them but not everyone can afford services like CrowdStrike and Zscaler security.
Is TRON better than a disk reformat? Some trojans can persist even with a reformat and clean Windows install...
@@smokescreen2146also ask this in the main thread
Thank you for such kind words! I appreciate it!
It's a daily grind to take the hate comments with ones like yours. But I'm glad you appreciate my efforts ❤️👍💪
Well done on your achievements. There are people that did go to school and they have less achieved than yourself.
@annespacedroid thank you! 👍
I do this for a living, all day, every day.
That's the way to do it...if you can!
Thanks for both the great informative videos regarding Tron! You really helped make a VERY noticeable improvement in a laptop I was on the verge of trashing because it had gotten so slow to respond. Ignore the haters, we do appreciate you taking time to put this information out. I used it on my office computer as well.
Fantastic! So glad to hear that, and thank you for the compliments! ;)
^^^ this, ladies and gentlemen! Read it twice.
Sounds like it!
LOL. "I'm not exactly sure how you can push software that's free." That statement was worth the whole video view. Great work - please keep it up....I for one really appreciate it.🏆
LOL thanks brother 😂💪
Some of these young techies think they know everything after being a tech for couple of years. I have been doing this for 32 years and am still learning a few things here and there. I knew about rkill but not Tron. I'm sure your advice will help non techie folks save a few bills. Thanks for the info.
^^^ yes, this...exactly! ^^^
Thank you so much! My computer just got infected, I found your video and it saved me the cost of having to pay a professional to do the job. I am so happy I took the time to watch it. You're a real life saver! Much appreciated 😊🎉🎉🎉
That makes me so happy!!!
Boom!!!!! Awesome!
Super antispyware is like malwarebytes, but not as resource hungry, and its found
trojans that malwarebites missed, and visa versa, i run both a couple of times a week,
then turn them off
@@g4wwk-k2fI forgot about SAS. I will look into it again. It's been years. But I've always trusted MBAM since it absolutely saved my PC years ago, when it had an early version of a GUI (looked like Win98).
The updates you gave in the first couple of minutes of this video alone where fine. Don't give those trolls a podium, for every intelligent thing you say, they can say 20 stupid things, and if you keep defending... they win.
Probably true 👍😂
thaks man, signing off from twitter right now..
I have ran most of the individual programs by themselves over the years but a master script saved me a ton of time.
Well I know that video did help me very much. Someone had remote access on my laptop. Thankfully I saw it right away in real time. I shutdown my laptop for over a month. I don't have the money right now to pay to have it fixed. Your information helped me fix my laptop for free. Thank you very much!
Heck yeah! 💪💪💪
It helped and worked for me. Thank you for helping me out. Can't please everyone.
Agreed and thank you! 👍
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge; please disregard any unconstructive comments.
Always try 👍
Agreed! Thank you so much for watching :)
I got great use from your original video. Installed the two programs onto a usb stick to have handy for my pc, laptop, and moms pc. Two thumbs up Computer Guy.
Boom!!! 💪💪💪
Thank you for helping us who are not computer-savvy seniors.
You're welcome! ❤️
I've been in IT since 1980. You do a great job. It's never too late to see what the other IT guys are doing and pick up a new trick here and there. Tron script from you is one of them. [respect]
Much appreciated 👍
Very gentle version of telling the haters to take a powder. And I can vouch for your advice about Tronscript, though I'm really not a huge fan of anything McAfee..
Same, but McAfee stinger is WAY better than McAfee AV. 100%

Thank you! I appreciate that :)
Thank you for the support! Glad you find my content enjoyable! 👍

Fantastic! So glad to hear this :)
I only discovered your channel recently and your videos are just pitched right for me. Thanks for the videos, most helpful.
Glad you enjoy what I do ❤️
Just found your vids which I'm finding very helpful. Slowly going through and picking what I need. Great work
Thank you so much! Glad to help :)
Thanks, Bob! I'll likely be making a "Linux vs Windows" video in the future...I'll expect you to chime in ;) 💪
Thank you sir.

Oh well ! Nothing bad happen, i will know next time.

Thanks,
I appreciate that :)
I just discovered your videos and I think they are great! I know a few things about Windows but mostly just enough to get in trouble.
Thank you for the support my friend ❤️
I've worked on computers for 18 years now. I haven't heard about Tron script until now! I definitely appreciate what you do. Everybody that does this sort of thing has their own methods, it's a closed minded individual who is not willing to try something different and an outright ass that criticises others who are willing to help. Keep doing what you do, it's a good thing!
Thank you, I appreciate that! 💪 👍
Great job!
Thank you, sir! I appreciate that! And thank you for your service 🍺
Thank you.
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate the support - days like today, I really needed that encouragement ❤️👍💪
Can't please everyone! Keep the faith and the good works! 😎✌
I was surprised to find a video of you responding to all of the backlash from that video.
Personally I think you did a few things during the video that I did not agree with, such as:
-Running multiple processing heavy Programs at once (puts strain on the computer but may possibly be faster overall)
-Running a Clean/Defrag Process at the start of the job (this is personal preference, in terms of actual results you wont gain too much from optimizing and cleaning the system afterwards but you will still catch more. Also defrags and cleans can move around cleverly hidden programs, actually helping them to stay hidden from scans.)
-Not running other types of scans/checking other areas. eg repairing drives, checking network drives/firewalls/physically connected devices.
-Not configuring Tron Script to run custom parameters for your use case. (You addressed this one! great job!)
-Using CCleaner with the default options despite its bad rep. (again you addressed this one and peoples concerns, Great job!)
---------------------
Aside from those issues, yoy explained everything very simply and spoke very well.
Great comment, and I appreciate your input very much! 💪
It sounds like you and I are both in the business pushing 3 decades doing this. Keep it up. You're doing good videos here.
Thank you! Needed that support today 💪
Thank you so much for helping people. I don't have any problems with my computer at this time but I'm very glad to know what to do in case I do have a problem in the future.
Thanks, I appreciate that! 💪
Don't get discouraged by the trolls. I've been it IT all my life, since PC's first came out and your channel is very helpful. I refer people to your videos all the time. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, that means a lot 👍
Thats hilarious - actual adults dont customise nothing on their windows box. Thats for kiddies. You are doing a great job!.
You'll always find haters and those who think they are superiors but actually are not! You did a good job and your channel is informative and useful!
Thank you so much!
Don't let these know it alls get to you man. I appreciate you.
thank you, my friend!
I think you are squared away, glad I found the channel. Keep doing what your doing.
Thank you, my friend 💪
Thanks for all the info. Too many Trolls who really seem to have an omnipotent brain. Keep up the good work and thanks for the time and effort!
You bet
Your vids provide information and advice of great value to a typical user like me. Thank you. Now carry on! 😊✌️
Thank you! I appreciate that :)
This fellow REALLY is GREAT. Make no mistake about it!
Thank you! That means a TON, I appreciate it, my friend!
been a fan of your contents for a while. hope to see some malware remover contents for smartphones :))
Thank you so much, ran it all on my wife's laptop , worked great!!!
Fantastic!!! ❤️
You're awesome! I consider myself a computer guy and I probably don't know half as you do. Ignore the youtube hate! Subbed!
Thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you, I am "that farmer" who understands almost nothing when I get into trouble such as this. When I watched how it is done, I kept saying to myself, I can do this.
That's what I try to instill in my viewers - you CAN do this, with me guiding you 👍
Thanks for the video from spain. Really usefull. Apreciate you take your time.
Glad it was helpful!
almost roste them all but as a IT student ,man you know your stuff.
Thanks...only been doing it 30+ years LOL 👍💪
Just found your Chanel today.. and you have my respect. Have a nice day
Thank you, I appreciate you stopping in 👍
Repair shop tech here. Have used ccleaner for years. Love it. as you said, its for getting the trash off your pc so the other programs can run better. If you don't have haters, your not doing something right.
running tron as I watch this....
LOL probably true! 😂
ignore those trolls, its people like you that really help us. Keep us the good work
Thank you ❤️
I think you are great, and I don't need to know everything just how to follow your instructions. Let thoses other people go make their own video. Keep up the good work at helping people like me!
Thanks LOL! I appreciate that 👍
Your video was helpful and informative. 👍
I appreciate that so much! 🍺
This video is very informing, i had a browser hijacker on a laptop and now it runs perfectly
Excellent!
And, man, so many people were essentially *addicted* to making sure their computers were *completely clean* and had no *errors* and were *fully optimized*, and would have multiple different products trying to do essentially the same job, which often resulted in a total clusterfu... well, a *reeeeeally* big mess lol
Anyway, these fears are largely based on experiences from a decade or more ago, but even though I know the technology has surely advanced accordingly, they still linger.
I'm glad you've made this video to help others, and hey, it might even help me some day! :D I hope I never need it, but having seen TRON in the theater back when it came out, I love the reference and it's one I can remember ;D
But I'm hesitant to use it myself.
(I have a lot of hobbies, and having a lot of hobbies, means you have to have a lot of hobby related stuff lol)
And that's largely what I fear.
If HE needs me to fix his computer again, I'd have no qualms about using this to sort out the issues lol
just pull the pin and run ;)
I do need to look up something to check my PC though... Not because I know of any particular issue with it... But rather *the opposite*.
As in, the longer I go without "catching" anything from the internet, while doing practically nothing to prevent it (other than just windows defender and reasonably safe browsing habits), the more i get the nagging suspicion that maybe something HAS snuck onto my system and it's just really good at hiding... lol
So I think I might look up at least a nice *scan* tool. I've used mallwarebytes before when I've felt a need to check something, but it's been a long time. I'll probably start there.
anyway, take care and pbbt the trolls! ;D
Then let's hope that you never need to use it 💪👍
Thank you for the valuable information you share. Please do not waste time by reading unfair and illogical critics and please share more helpful information.
I appreciate that! 💪
Never mind the trolls! I appreciate your work, just came cross the channel today and already shared a link to your video. I have a brand new computer, and you better believe I'll make the emergency recovery folder as you suggested. THANK YOU
Awesomeness! Thank you 👍
Retired IT guy here, ignore the critics. Your target audience would have been able to follow your actions and make a good attempt at resolving their issues. Good work bro, keep the good advice coming.
Thanks, brother - that means a lot 👍
Thank you for sharing and helping us how to get rid of all the nasty virus and malware and stay safe on the internet.
Excellent contents. Luv it. :)
Thank you so much! :)
What most people don't understand about open-source software is besides being free, as a user of the software you can make suggestions for improvements or new features. You don't have to be a program. You can also report on anything in the software that isn't work. Open-source software is always changing.
Agreed
Wonderful, will use some of these ideas in my armoury ! Thank you !
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Here are my results: I'll start with computer B first:
Computer B: (Friend's computer - running Windows 10, 4GB Ram).
Conclusion:
Before using Tron, do the Windows updates and then turn off the update for 7 days and see whether this will resolve this stalling issue in Tron.
Update:
After clearing out the updates (software distribution folder) and a couple of other minor tweaks, including checking no updates had to be undertaken, as well as setting for not wanting updates for 3 weeks, I again rebooted the computer and opened up Tron.
In Conclusion:
Tron is definitely worth checking one's computer out to ensure all okay.
👍💪😁
I despise people that are an expert that look down their nose at anyone that is not as familiar with their field of expertise.
Listening to most tech savvy people talking about computers sounds like a foreign language to me.
I don't understand 9/10ths what they are talking about and as such I like and appreciate presentations like yours.
A classic example of the tech jargon that is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike to the laymen like me is, when talking about cleaning up a computer, being advised to:
Uninstall any unnecessary programmes.
I completely understand! I try to make videos for those people like you, not people like me 😁
Probably best to ignore the trolls..
(this coming from a 42-year IT Consultant and dev ;) )
Thank you, my friend. I appreciate that :)
the click bait and all that fluff around it is needed here, on youtube, so it is visible, gets people attention, and pleases the algorithm so to speak, being it mainly tron focused branding for the video, i worry it wouldnt even get to the people whom it might concern
Nice work.
Thank you 😁
People are ignorant.
Awesome!
I just try to give the guy the information he needs at the moment, & maybe expand a little here & there)🖖
Appreciate your tips and recommendations. Ignore the many people who thinks they know better, but don't.
I appreciate that 💪
Great response to the nay-sayers! And you didn't use any curse words. Good job.
Hey, thanks! 😂
Ur a hero for computer newbies forget about those trolls
Agreed!
Thanks for your informative videos. Keep the free knowledge coming. Appreciated
Thank you! I appreciate that 👍
Disregard any of the negative comments what you did was provide a valid service these other people are mostly just idiots trying to throw their two cents in to make themselves sound important.
Most of the troll comments were scammers .. you just fixed thier little red wagon ..good job ..
LOL 😂
I loved that video!! You helped me also my mom and girlfriend!
Glad I could help!
