Hi from Scandinavia. I love Albania. In March I visit for the 8th time. I have made extremely good Albanian friends there. Tirana is a vibe! I always miss it when I'm not there. Gonna retire in 3 years and spend as much time as possible there. 🙏
Who would have thought that one day americans would want to retire in Albania…what does say about the West? I am Albanian from Tirana, and after so many years living in the States, I am ready to go back and live amongst the people and community that cares about you, not to mention the beautiful landscape and mild weather….and not because it is only cheap.
Would be good to find out how much Albania is already under the control of the WEF (like most western countries are now). WEF free - means living in freedom. How's Albania faring?
Not everyone will find Albania appealing. The most valuable suggestion is to personally visit the country and experience it firsthand. Thank you for sharing👍💕
@@ashvoj Every country has its + and it’s - but if you’re looking for a good place to get sun , hiking or beaches Albania it’s the best . In my opinion only driving culture is a bit “stressful” but manageable since the whole Balkans have that Russian driving culture.

Hi. I’ve just discovered this country so I’m pretty new to it. Is their currency is euro? Do people spend money in grocery and everything else in euro?
I used to go to the Adriatic sometimes for seafood and also there's a restaurant on the end of a Pier with excellent seafood and it was about the same as Pelikan
I can't say that I ever specifically looked for motivation. It's easier with me: I love money and the life and opportunities it gives me 😌 Being in a life when I had no fucking money at all, when I had to ask all my friends and acquaintances with requests to borrow money, and when ordering rolls was a holiday for me, my love for money kept me from putting up with such hardships in life. But even when I start to make money by my algorithms and had forgotten what saving and saving was all about, again, my love for dough gave me just a fucking boost of motivation to do whatever it took to keep going, just so I wouldn't go back to poverty😣
Wife and I were there in Tirana for 2 days a couple years ago, liked it a lot. This was an interesting interview and makes me want to try retirement there.
Toni I appreciate your input about your experience living in Albania. I’m from the US currently living in Puerto Rico and considering taking a vacation to Albania stay a couple of months and take it from there. I’m retired so I can stay indefinitely. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to traveling to Albania my next vacation…. ❤
I am scared reading this comment section, I am Albanian and 24, I would like to retire and live in Vlora or Saranda, but I am afraid when the time comes all the coast would have been purchased by our new foreign friends 😜
They showed the investment properties in the coastal towns & theysaid how they are vacant when it’s not summer season. They said that they are still tons of properties. No one has bought the developers are unable to sell
Vlora is byvthe sea and apartments areceven more affordable. Saranda has the most beautifully crystal waters.. a heRthy plate of thick chicken soup can be found for.$3. Very filling and healthy.
Now, of course, I look at everything with a smile on my face. I realize that I was essentially happy that it wasn't getting worse. I am shocked of myself in the past, as soon as I let my brain get so oxidized - I do not know, luckily I found the strength to face the truth and admit that I am living in poverty and if I do nothing, there I will stay... Fortunately, I didn't stay there like many😏

The hallmark of people living in wealth and prosperity is determination and persistence, and it is the absence of these qualities, in my opinion, that distinguishes poor people from rich people. I am a simple guy, who had no rich parents or anyone who could arrange somewhere, I had to achieve everything on my own, with my own brains. Based on what she is saying, I would budget $1500 a month as a newbie and then see if you can comfortably lower that as you learn the ropes.
I'm interested to find out. Back in 2010 had an awesome friend from albania in china. Always talked so wonderfully of his home. Loved his personality. Might just visit this year.
It looks like it. Honestly I am tired of living in Portugal. Yes there are beautiful sandy beaches but the ocean is so cold all year round, that it's impossible to swim, so what's the point of even going to the beach. There is basically no expat community or much of a social life either, especially if you only speak basic Portuguese. The accommodations are not up to standards, usually no AC or central heater and it gets cold in the winter. Life has gotten expensive also and the services are not that great. For instance, restaurants won't serve you before noon sharp so I never go out because I like to eat early. And about Portuguese culture, I have come to realize that I am not interested in it. So I am looking for an alternative. I will check out Tirana in November.
I just looked and you should be able to find an apartment for 600-800 per month staying in Tirana through Airbnb. If you decide to live there, you could find rentals cheaper with a lease. Good luck!

Hello AF, I just retired and am planning to leave California and search for a cost effective place to hang my hat. I heard Toni say that the expats meet on Friday night there in Tirana and I was wondering if I may be so bold as to find out where and what time. If there is a coordinator for the group, is there a way I can contact them?
Been to Albania twice now. Just spent two weeks in Tirana in May. Loved it and thinking of moving there. Thanks for this informative video. I’m curious as to the general area where Toni lives. I stayed close to Mother Teresa Hospital and it was a decent area. Does Toni have any neighborhood areas that she recommends?
A few months ago people were recommending Georgia as a good place to retire. But look at it today, May 15, with the protests & riots. How could we know if Albania might be next?
Well I hope you don't have to move again because Albania the prices are going to go sky high I understand from a friend that moved there and her apartment went from 300 Euros to 700 euros and it's just not feasible for her anymore and also for the actual people that live there the albanians themselves it's it's very disconcerting they're going to become very expensive so I'm just afraid that people should know that when you're retiring and you don't work that you might have to either get a job or look for another country after a while I hope it lasts a long time for you but my friends having a hard time she retired at 62
It is unfortunate however many people that can't afford to live in their home country are moving abroad daily so that they can live comfortably. When the average house in and around the Toronto area is 1.1 million dollars, people will continually to move out because they simply can't afford living there any longer. Thank you for this information and I hope your friend is doing well!
A bottle of wine in Europe is so much cheaper in the supermarkets than in the US, curious what a bottle of wine is in Albania, and also the cost of a glass of wine in a bar or restaurant?
Hello and thank you for your show very well done. I have a question for Toni? After watching your show I am more enticed to trying out Albanian. I recently retired and currently I live in playa del Carmen Mexico. Playa has become so much more expensive and I would like to try Albania for all of those reasons you talked on your show. Is there a way that I can get in touch with Toni so that I can ask her some questions since she lives there? I thank you so much for your information 😊❤ and a great show.
Everyone budgets differently. Some people prefer to walk (like me) rather than have a car. Some people pay out of pocket for healthcare rather than pay for insurance. These are basic costs based on the retiree or expat interviewed. Thank you for viewing @annas.5794
@@adventurefreaksss : Agreed, but if you get a serious illness in Albania you're out of luck, not bcs of the doctors but bcs of the condition of the health system; medications also would be better to be brought from out of country. I absolutely love Albania btw and visit a few times per year :-)
The income requirement for the retirement visa is $1000 per month, but is that per person? What about married couples? My husband makes the requirement, but I don't. Do they allow spouses on the primary's visa, or must they meet the requirement separately?
If you're a couple in Albania you can save a large amount of money and live like a king. All your monthly spending it will be less than 1000 bucks and you can eat every day good food in restaurants and enjoy life.
My advice don't go in touristic cities like Saranda and Vlore but you should stay mainly in Tirana,Durres or Shkoder when cost of living is much much cheaper. In Tirana you can find good accommodation for less than 350$ per month and in small towns it is way cheaper. Avoid airBnB and stick to local real estates .Sad but true.
THE problem with retiring in such a beautiful place is that eventually you will become less and less mobile, requiring ever more daily attention, along with increasing health care. Without any kind of support network of family and friends, then what?
Many expats and retirees share how easy it is to connect with the locals and other expats within their community. Some have shared that it is easier to make those connections than from their home country. I think it depends on your personality, if you find it difficulty to connect and experience and primarily stick to yourself, staying close to home and family may be the best option. Thank you for viewing!
Hello, How are you doing today? I hope well. Is there any way I could get Ms Toni contact info? I am flying into Tirana in October and would love to meet up with her, if she has the time for coffee or drinks at expat meeting? Thank you. Monte, from US.
I see all these enthousiastic video's, but no one is telling how the procedure is to get permit to stay. We are in our eighties and travel around. Everybody wants a lot of money but no real help. We want to come here to spend our money and have some pleasant years in freedom!
I need to interview you for the podcast. Let me know if interested as I"d love to have you as a guest. Send me an email at adventurefreaksss@gmail.com. Thank you! Ré
They won't let you stay !!! -- They have this thing called "visa laws" - and they have limits ! -- Financial requirements also ? -- One year - then what ? - - - Retirement $12,000/year. --?-- SS income enough ??? - - - Rent is the deal breaker for me !!! > I'll take the Philippines - where rent can still be had for under $100/mo in many places -&- the overall cost of living can be 70% below the US average for many somewhat frugal expats !!!!! ❤🙏👍 3 years on a tourist visa & unlimited renewals after only a 24 hour departure !!! 🤗
I'm amazed that in our modern world, people can have salaries of 1500-2000 dollars and be willing to put up with that! That's the money I leave in a restaurant every day when I eat out! And somehow people manage to live on it for a month😱 I can't imagine how horrible and disgusting such a life can be, when every day you have to wake up and face poverty and problems🤭 When you have to choose between milk or eggs at the store, not being able to buy both! And all you have to do is choose one or the other, putting up with a suffocating sense of hopelessnes
I loved Albania and the people there but those wild dogs everywhere made me leave after a year. I'm sure I'm not the only person who is in this category.
What's cheap for Americans it's expensive for most of us. The problem is when Americans arrive, cost of life goes up, for everyone. And it seems that they are colonizing all Europe now. Were can we possibly go? Burundi?
Great video and the interview with Tony was informative. I am traveling to Albania and I would to contact Tony. Is it possible to get your email or her email before I leave NY? Thank you.

$3-15 for a bottle in grocery store. $2.75 - $3.00 for a large wine in a restaurant.
thanks@@shea5702
I suggest you Rakia 🙂
Is that like Uzo?

Hello and thank you for your show very well done. I have a question for Toni?
After watching your show I am more enticed to trying out Albanian. I recently retired and currently I live in playa del Carmen Mexico. Playa has become so much more expensive and I would like to try Albania for all of those reasons you talked on your show. Is there a way that I can get in touch with Toni so that I can ask her some questions since she lives there? I thank you so much for your information 😊❤ and a great show.
Will be exploring Albania in October/November, was there in May, would love to to connect with Tony Cacioppo. Is it possible? I
Did she give up medicare and her USA residency? These are important questions for retirees. Thanks
You don't lose your citizenship when you move abroad. If you live abroad you can stop paying A and B and if you come back you can re start.
Living in Tirana would cost you more than 1K. The lady is not talking about health insurance, car costs, going out and/or travel expenses.
I absolutely love Albania btw and visit a few times per year :-)
I’m so waiting to retire back in Albania, it’s pity I’m just 33 😂 but yes, I’m def growing old there.
I am definitely going there in 2025
The income requirement for the retirement visa is $1000 per month, but is that per person? What about married couples? My husband makes the requirement, but I don't. Do they allow spouses on the primary's visa, or must they meet the requirement separately?
Good questions. I could not find clarity on this yet however if I do, I will let you know. Thank you for viewing!
@@blackeagle7947 Do you live in Albania? Always looking for guests with cost of living perspectives. Thank you for viewing our content!
how is the airport?
top notch!
Healthcare? DID SHE GIVE UP HAVING MEDICARE DEDUCTED FROM HER SOCIAL SECURITY? PLEASE ask this. Thx
You can request that of CMS, yes.
I couldn’t understand which country she lived in for 5 years
THE problem with retiring in such a beautiful place is that eventually you will become less and less mobile, requiring ever more daily attention, along with increasing health care.
Croatia sounds better but is probably more expensive
Croatia has gotten costly
@@searchingforhappy Still interesting country. How about Argentina or Spain for retirement?
much more expensive..

Not sure on this. You'd have to consult a tax specialist. Thanks for viewing!

Hello, How are you doing today? I hope well. Is there any way I could get Ms Toni contact info? I am flying into Tirana in October and would love to meet up with her, if she has the time for coffee or drinks at expat meeting? Thank you. Monte, from US.
Toni didn’t provide any contact info for inquiries. Maybe she’ll reply to your message!
I see all these enthousiastic video's, but no one is telling how the procedure is to get permit to stay. We are in our eighties and travel around. Everybody wants a lot of money but no real help. We want to come here to spend our money and have some pleasant years in freedom!
We have a few videos on this in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Mexico. Thank you!
I live on the beach in vlore Albania 🇦🇱 with 1000 euro you live like 12.000 dollars a month in usa and better

US citizens get a 365-day visa. That's a great deal.
@@boink800 Not if your old and want to retire permanently ? Why should you have to leave ? Other countries have much better 'deals' for retirement !
@@KB3TLE Who needs the retirement visa? They give you a 365-day visa which works the same way as a retirement visa.
@@KB3TLE ~ I agree with the lady. Too damn HOT in SE Asia 🥵
@@jamescalifornia2964 Mostly true - but there are a few areas in the Philippines with enough elevation for very comfortable weather !
That is not poverty in Albania. If you spend that much in a restaurant I feel sorry for your standards.

Burundi?
Thailand or the Philippines is still cheap @@GiuseppinaMabiliaVP
Good point. It’s cheaper to live in southern Spain near the beach.

$1000 a month??
I live far cheaper than that in London / UK !!
Share with the viewers how they can live in London for less than 1000. I'm very curious:)
Let's just hope Albania doesn't become californicated and thus affordable only to the wealthy elite.
It's expensive 1000dollars , I live in south france and I paye less 😮 the healt insurance also is very expensive ,it's cheaper in France 😂 wake up guys it's albania it‹s not even a europeen contry ,even greece is chipper with better life😊

$600/month will get you a seaview apartment.
600/month is to much let's say 350 or 400$ in cities like Durres,Shkoder Lezhe or Divjake. Saranda and Vlore are overrated.
