    Thank for the video! I have an '84 Caprice (305-engine). The idle is a bit rough at times, although I've been told that the carburetor needs to be rebuilt, I might as well replace the EGR. Your video showed me how easy it is to do!

    Watched your video last weekend. Immediately went out to the garage and tested my egr. It’s good but tons of carbon build up. Cleaned as much as possible and vacuumed out the ports to the engine. Worked pretty good

    Dude this is crazy as fuck 🙃 I watch all your 85 caprice videos, learning stuff to work on my own 85 caprice and I just spent countless hours around a month before you uploaded this specific video figuring out the EGR valve system, replacing the thermostat+housing, replacing the entirety of my vacuum hoses and 3 new sensors and set it all up to factory specs after it being dilapidated since the car was built/mechanics Making shortcuts by capping ports etc. Learned on my own about that EGR valve yeah but I sure would've loved to have this video out just a month sooner 🤣 love your videos. You have shown me sooo much more than any repair manual or internet forum. Hope you continue your 1985 caprice videos for as long as you can make them. 👍👍

    Nice video . Just changed the fuel pump on mine. I’m having the same exact symptoms but mine also stalls out when I put it in reverse and when I come to a complete stop sometimes. I’m wondering if this could be the issue… Bought the car with a Avs 2 Edelbrock carburetor

    • @LongologoProductions
      @LongologoProductions  6 місяців тому

      @therealnickd3011: those are the symptoms I had that led me to replacing the EGR valve. Other thoughts: make sure the fuel filter isn’t clogged, and check all the hoses running to/from that aftermarket carb-I’m not sure if that’s messing with any sensors. Mine still has the original connections for all the rudimentary sensors and emissions stuff.

    Great video bud! I have a Chevy Caprice 1985, and all the wiring are messed up by previous owners. I need any advise to rewire EVERYTHING correctly. Any advises?

    • @LongologoProductions
      @LongologoProductions  2 роки тому

      @SasiExpLosioN: thanks! The wiring is surprisingly complex in my view. I would suggest getting a copy or reprint of the shop manual, which has lots of color-coded diagrams showing all the connections. Does your car work or is the wiring so messed up that the car won’t even run?

      @@LongologoProductions The wiring are messed up but the car is running, I want to make the car to manufacture status especially on the wiring. If you have any reference like shop manual it will be great. Note: I bought the car without engine, I installed a 350 v8 gasoline.

      @LongologoProductions  2 роки тому

      @@SasiExpLosioN : there are some shop manual reprints and CDs on Amazon - search for “1985 caprice shop manual” and see the first four or five hits. If you bought the car without the engine and put in a 350cid v8 (original police package option or after-market non-Chevrolet?) that might make it very difficult to get to an OEM state with the car. MAYBE if it’s an original Chevy 350 v8. There is info for all the different engine options, carburetor, TBI, etc in the manual such that maybe you could redo all the connections. But that sounds like it would be a HUGE project. Also, I’m not sure what the emissions components are or were in your region and maybe different. I have maintained the original emissions reducing components on mine and I can tell you there are a lot of wires and hoses for all those parts - it looks like a rats nest. But when everything is working properly it’s really smooth. Sorry I don’t use Telegram. Definitely check out Amazon or eBay to pick up a shop manual.

    Do you daily drive your Caprice? If you do in a major US city, do keep it parked in a safe place where LE can safeguard it to keep roaches away from stealing it.

      @@DominiAeternum : 12-14mpg is low. What engine do you have? 305 v8 w/ carburetor? That was originally rated 17mpg city (I think). Either this carb and engine was tuned too rich, or the headgasket is slowly but surely going out. It idles at like 2600 rpm I believe, think that's way too fast according to the sticker on top of the radiator cowl. Someone wanted power not efficiency with this one I believe

    • @LongologoProductions

      slightly less than 4 gallons, and that it likely because our fuel is required to have added ethanol here, which negatively affects gas mileage on old cars.
