I found and have been listening to xo marriage for almost a month now and Jimmy and Karen's story is so touching. The beginning of their marriage very much sound like my first marriage, my 2nd marriage ended due to his infidelity with my sister and my current marriage has a lot of contention from both of us. We've both dealt with a lot of pain emotionally and of a physically abusive 1st marriage myself. My husband has endured alot of emotional pain and I believe physical abuse from his father and at least 1 ex. He was even sent to prison for nearly 2 years for false claims of a terrible domestic violence incident that were false. I love him and I know he loves me but we always seem to be in defensive mode often ready to "pounce" as a way of protecting ourselves from more pain(in our own minds) I was raised in a Baptist Church my whole life with a Preacher for a grandfather whom I adored. I've always believed I God and salvation is the only way into the gates of Heaven. I was saved and baptized at 14 but because of many tragic loses and bad life choices and consequences I allowed myself to believe that God exists because I've seen miracles and blessings happen to other people however I felt I wasn't worthy of the abundance of blessings I see so many others enjoying everyday because my life was full of hurt which turned to resentment which turned to anger. Anywhoooo!!! I found Jimmy Evans and for the first time since I can remember 30+years) that I truly feel inspired and I feel hope for a brighter tomorrow in my marriage and in me personally. 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you Pastor Evans. God bless you and your family.

Please please please do some videos about emotional abuse. We’ve been married for 42 years and he has done silent treatments for 38 years. I asked him over and over back in the day-to get help, but he was like-It’s YOU‼️Another terrible thing was that he would get mad 2-3 times a day, but I learned early on that me getting angry “wasn’t allowed!” I’ve literally probably gotten mad one hand full of times. It’s sick, but I got off his rollercoaster a couple of years ago. Now he says-you need to forgive me. I tell him-yes-I’ve done that, but I’m not getting back on your rollercoaster until you get the healing you need. How does someone keep doing silent treatments for 38 years⁉️ He killed all intimacy. It’s so sad. I’ve now reached the point of just not engaging. He still has anger brewing in that chest of his. But I no longer try to help him with his disregulation. We have the money for him to go to counseling. Something really bad happened with him when he was young, but he hid it. It got way more “infected” and made him mean. I’m so at peace since I detached, but he feels entitled to lots of things. He loves listening to you and that’s why I’m asking you to please speak on the damage that emotional abuse causes.

    We are Six years divorced.
Something happened I don't rightly recall why we were so angry at each other. (I'm not playing the blame game here:) but apearantly it had built up over the 13yrs of our marriage. I learned that at the end of our marriage after I already filed for Divorce.
I'll say this, When serious threats of violence are made and attempted it's time for me too go..
    It was for the best?

He opens with, you can't believe God to change your spouse? But you can believe God to change you? Im sorry, but I think the wisest thing to do, is to try not to change your spouse yourself, but you pray for them and let God change them. God can do anything. I disagree with this

"You may have some issues that are in your marriage, or some things that need to be overcome, and so I want you to believe God for God to change you, not your spouse. YOU CAN'T BELIEVE GOD TO CHANGE YOUR SPOUSE, but you can believe God to change you." I would kindly request that someone specifically from this ministry to please help me understand that one line, you can't believe God to change your spouse. Why is this the case?

You have to change your mental diet about your spouse. How are the conversations you have with yourself about your spouse? Are you having constant arguments about them? Are you saying they are always like this or like that? Change the conversation within yourself and your spouse will reflect it. Those mental arguments brings it out of them. Ecclesiastes 10:20.

Love Jimmy's take on marital success, but I have to offer one suggestion. NEVER let the phrase, "God I give you permission to" leave your lips. Just ask him to do the thing. I fully understand the point you are making, but we don't give the almighty permission to do anything.

      He knocks as a courtesy.
He doesn't go where he is not wanted.
Revelation 3:20 is one of my favorite verses, and I appreciate you adding it to the discussion.
      My point is respect.
First analogy to come to mind, a courtroom. Everyone in the courtroom gives the judge respect and willingly let's the judge run the show. No one says, "I give you permission to decide what happens in this courtroom today"
It isn't a major issue, just a framing thing.
"God, I give you permission to take control"
      Or
      "God, please take control"
      These are different mindsets.

    The Gospel:
    Plain and
    Simple
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent
beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your
minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3
Ask someone today if they are saved and
you will most likely hear responses like these:
“I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I
have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been
baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good
and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually
knows the gospel that saves them. These use￾less phrases don’t describe a thing about what
the gospel is and has left a devastating effect
of people not knowing what it is that they are
saved from nor how they are saved; which
leaves a more serious effect of people ques￾tioning their salvation.
Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva￾tion that is in Christ with vague church
sounding phrases that do not communicate
anything. But rather present God’s word with
clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel:
    plain and simple.
Sin was passed upon all men by one man
Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin
(Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of
condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of
this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good
works one might do we are still found sinners
in the sight of our Creator God. And all un￾righteousness and those who follow get in￾dignation and wrath. We cannot be found
righteous for by God’s law we are found sin￾ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even
one law we are found guilty.
It is for this reason of not being able to
create our own righteousness and being born
in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus
3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in
the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross
2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath
and judgement that was intended for us sin￾ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial,
and resurrection on our behalf that we are
able to have peace with God and forgiveness
of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good
news is unto all but only those that believe in
it are made righteous in Christ (Romans
    3:22).
It is then after we have heard this good
news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit
and we are now part of Christ’s body the
    church (Eph 1:13)
There is nothing that we need to do, no
good works that are required, and no bad
works that can separate us from our new po￾sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
Faith and belief in this information from
    God’s word is the gospel.
The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your
heart. The gospel is not making him lord of
your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not
    being baptized with water.
So next time someone asks you if you are
saved. Give them the clear assured answer
“Yes! And let me tell you why

AMEN & thank you! This age of what you said in beginning had been taught for a long time. It's frustrating not to have more discipleship in our so called "Christian" churches? You have to search to find one that knows what salvation really means!
