Thanks too for that commentary on Temple of Doom’s treatment of Hindu culture. I watched that with my 9 year old recently and I felt like I had to pause the film and do some explaining.
Having seen Dial of Destiny, I would say , Voller was the one using the artifact for political means. Indy was looking for transcendence Helena was in it for the fortune and glory!
