You asked about our favorite tool. I am a 70 y/o female tool junkie. If I don’t have it I’m getting it, not really. I don’t buy mechanics tools. My brother made the mistake of leaving his reciprocal saw during a renovation of my house. By the time he returned the next day, I had cut a large opening in a wall waiting for him to finish out, but my favorite tool is my Ryobi drill. Thank you for this video. My refrigerator doors have been worrying me for over a year. 😘
Awesome! I was looking up how to tighten the freezer handle via the model # of my Maytag freezer and I came across your video. Needless to say, in minutes I FIXED it!! Thanks for your help from a sole-providing single mother who would rather learn to try to fix what I can than waste money I don't have. As for my favorite tools, I have a screwdriver with interchangeable heads I find it is often helpful, and failing that ages ago a family member gave me a compact little tool kit and it's also been pretty helpful. I also have a saved collection of Allan keys from this and that too. Thanks again! It's amazing how such a little thing can provide so much stress relief! 😊
Between you and my dear Amiga’s very handy husband, I was able to TIGHTEN my whirlpool fridge’s handles!!!!! You don’t understand- Hubby & I are so house repair INEPT, we have to hire people. Thank GOD for good friends who know what they’re doing, and people like YOU who share their talents in a very kind, user friendly way. God bless y’all!!!!
Thanks so much for leaving this video up! I was so glad to learn how easy it will be to tighten up the handle on my freezer drawer. You were showing on the video that the screw access was underneath was perfect!😄. And I loved the little jokes, too!😆
Ok mine was just tightened with a tiny Phillips head, but this video gave me the idea. It’s tight now, but I don’t have that can’t turn the screw anymore feeling…it just keeps spinning. At least handle isn’t loose anymore! Hope I didn’t mess it up. Thank you Sir. 👍
Thanks! I really needed to tighten mine up and I knew there was a little hole to poke something into, but I would never have known what to use if it were not for your video!
Perfect, that is what I love about putting out these videos. I used to live with things that loose appliance handles because I did not know what sort of tool it would require, but someone recently showed me how and I was amazed at how easy it was to fix once I learned how. I love sharing these tips so that it can help other people. Thank you for telling me that this helped you.
I'll add a very important improvement to this video....you WILL NOT be able to tighten using this method IF one of the screws INSIDE the handle is loose- aka the screw you cannot see in this video. Under the handle are either square or round mounting brackets that screw INTO your fridge AND THEN your handles go on top of these. The set screw in this video is for securing a handle that has come loose FROM one or both of these brackets. So for some people you will first need to use the hex key to loosen off both sides of your handle, then remove the handle completely off your fridge, then tighten the brackets that you will now see. Once this is done then you can put the handle back on and then tighten each set screw as per this video. This makes the repair 100% for those who have a screw or two loose :)
I think that is the problem with my handle. The hex nut under the handle is as tight as can be, so I'm not able to tighten it any more. Do you know of a video which shows your description? I wouldn't want to remove the handle and not see what to tighten.
Excellent point…my problem was the hidden screw under the handle..luckily I didn’t strip the hex screw that holds the handle to this hidden screw…thanks
Our old refrigerator had a Phillips screws on the loose handle that we cannot tighten the handle. Should we use longer screws? I think the holes are probably rounded.
Good question. I do not know much about tools hahaha. I learned that a hex key, Allen key or Allen wrench is a tool used to drive bolts and screws with hexagonal sockets in their heads. The Allen name is a registered trademark. It is amazing how those screws stay so hidden and then when we get a loose handle it is hard to figure out how to fix it.
hahaha, no butter knife. We just had a very nice storm, and with the sound of distant thunder and crickets, and the smell of fresh rain, it is going to be a very good sleeping night.
My door handle is the same as yours. My problem is the handle came off on one side. The whole screw came out of the door. Any Ideas on how to fix it? I would greatly be appreciated.
I have a loose handle on the bottom freezer drawer of my Miele KF 1913 SF fridge. Nothing is in the manual about tightening it and I see no screws from the outside. Ant tips?
The best advice is to call your local appliance store (as long as they sell the brand you have) and tell them you just need them to find out how to find the screw to tighten the handle. Most of those appliance stores are very very helpful over the phone, and no charge.
I have a new Refrigerator with White Plastic Handles no screws on the Side? Seems like you have to go in from the backside not sure but You made a good video for your type of refrigerator. Thumbs up anyways. P.S. I did find that I can just lift up on my handle and take it off and tighten the screws and then slide the handle back on for anyone that has the same type of Refrigerator.
You made me go look. My frig has the Phillips screw sets on the handles and the oven has one Phillips on each side on the internal oven part of the door. If someone I know has the Allen style, I'll tell them about your video. I'll bet within a month somebody will tell me they have a loose handle. Let's see....I think my favorite (and most used) tool is my ratchet screwdriver that came with standard, Phillips and torx bits that store in the handle.
I love those ratchet screwdrivers with extra bits in the handle. It is funny that they make appliances with different types of ways to tighten the handles. That is sort of frustrating because all handles get loose eventually.
Hi, all! Your faaavorite dumb ass here! Underneath the handle?!? Who knew? My handle had been loose for over two weeks so I just kept pulling from the tight side. All I needed was an Allen wrench. D'uh! Thanks, Frosty Life.
I tighten mine all the time and it gets tight at the moment but it comes loose like every 5 days and i have to tighten it again. Any ideas how to keep it tight?
I use the little tiny screw driver that is used for eyeglasses adjustments. Any pharmacy should have that available. Poke it in under the cap and pop it off.
If you have a hex key, or allen wrench you can tighten the screw and tighten the handle on your refrigerator, freezer, stove, oven, range, or dishwasher, or any other appliance. You can get the hex key or allen wrench at any hardware store or Menards.
I have these same handles and one of mine is loose....BUT when I turn the allen screw it doesn't budge or turn the screw. I've got the correct sized allen key but neither screws will turn. I'm putting lots of force into it as well but no action...help?
I am sorry, it would be very hard to know without actually seeing it. Sounds like a manufacturing problem. Maybe you can find screws that are just a little bit shorter.
It is sort of random that I come up with these HOW TO videos on my Vlog channel, but I am building a separate series of HOW TO videos that I create when I fix something that I think others would benefit from knowing how to do things. Hahaha, another quirky hobby of mine.
My problem for my 3 year old S S french door frig is the cheap plastic part at the top inside.A shelf has a crack but then I put heavy glass bottles in it.
We used to also have that same problem, and we had to order new plastic trays at least once a year. Our new fridge never has that problem, thank goodness.
My part that is weak is just before you close the left side door, look at the top and you may have a cheap plastic part that holds the doors closed. It's just above the top tray/shelf.I have to push on both of mine.I may just put duct tape on the bottom of that tray that is on the right door ( middle tray ).
What if you have a Frigidaire and the handle is loose but the screw goes inside the handle so how do you screw it in because there's no way to open the handle or any screws on the side
Problem with our freezer is that it is a drawer that pulls toward you rather than put. Our Allen wrench set is too fat to properly turn to tighten the “screw.”
If it's GE it's junk, either by poor design or bad assembly. I'll be buying a Fridgedaire to replace the GE of numerous problems, the loose handles for instance I find are screws into foam.. Holes for 4 screws in each handle, only two screws in each handlle. I found the ice & water dispenser filthy, not noticable or cleanable until disassembled for discarding. Online information is these take up a lot of room (duh) and are THE THING that goes wrong and requires a service call. Don't buy a refrigerator that needs water hook up. They are all shit.
Essentially, you have used this video to show how to tighten a screw. With your method this procedure would be implemented every 3-4 days for as long as you own the fridge.

Great videos & so thankful! Can you do videos for beginners like myself & basic fixing & tools required? Thanks again!
Thank you so much! I thought this was correct but had no idea on the bottom refrigerator handle !
thanks for the info, mate. 3/32" allen wrench is the size that worked for my frigidaire.
H1GRN1 Seems to be the standard size. Worked on my GE model too.
Thanks for the video I was going to use gorilla glue but I watched your video and all I needed was an Allen wrench.
Thanks! Fixed it in two seconds thanks to your video!
Very well explained. Thanks.
It worked great, really helpful for the single female. thanks
Perfect! Thanks.
4 years later still problem solving appreciate it even my kids are happy
thank u so much i had to fix the freezer handle since it recently fell off
This was very helpful and I fixed my handle that was loose on my fridge
Thank you it worked 1st try for me with the tool you demonstrated.😀👍

Our handles came off and I can’t figure out how to get them back in but I appreciate that you made this video anyway. :)

Great video. How do you prevent the screws from loosening again? I tried lock tight, but it didn't work out in the end.

do we turn it clockwise or anticlockwise on freezer door handles, as clockwise seems not working!! Thank you.

What about the bottom one I don't see that whole for allen wrench at the bottom handle
What is the size of the Allen wrench?
Does the Allan wrench has holes on the top or it’s flat ?
This Allen Wrench is flat on top.

this doesn't work for me. ive got a metric and an imperial allen set and nothing works! help?

I call them Hex keys because they are hexagon in shape... What size tool??? American or Metric?
It is good to have a standard set, and a metric set, because you will encounter both types of screws.
What size????
Thats my question too.
Tighten it down as tight as you can... Without tightening it too much😂
Money is round theres an allen on top but nothing on the bottom got a gap of 3/16 now, driving me nuts...
i do actually a lot of things with my swiss army knife =)
Oh yes, I used to have one of those. They are very handy.
And you can fix it at once before it breaks.
MY DOOR HANDLES ARE NOT ALIGHNED. ONE HANDLEIS LOWER OR HIGHER THAN THE OTHER BY 1/2 INCH
there are adjustment inside the door to align them, but not sure how but I think Whirlpool addresses that in the manual if you can download it
