- Could this actually be the finest small mountain in Scotland? Being a stand-alone mountain, it gives you spectacular views of Assynt’s glaciated landscape in every direction. With its pinnacled ridge and steep gullies, it may not be as tall as a munro but it is an absolute spectacle.

Your camp with Monty brought me here. Wasn't prepared for how awesome this video would turn out to be. Started off standard and gradually became epically visionary, almost hallucinogenic. You're bolder than me, camping up there in such unpredictable weather, but, wow, how it paid off. You'll surely remember that for the rest of your life. Brilliant photography and drone work, capturing the show nature decided to lay on for you. Glorious stuff!

I'm not ashamed to say it, there were bits in that where I was welling up, it was just so jaw-droppingly beautiful Mari. I can't think of another UA-camr with a better knack for finding the absolute best spots and photographing them so well, and with such genuine joy. I'm sorry you had a rough night with the old condensation though - it's such an unpredictable phenomenon eh? Oh, and 'wee hours' - you're definitely an honorary Scot by now! I must say, the condensation caught me off guard. I was prepared for maybe a little bit of condensation so I left the mesh door fully-opened during the night but I still had it pretty bad.
@@FunsizedEarthling aw shucks ☺️. Hopefully the conditions you had were a ‘perfect storm’ for the moisture, and that is as bad as it’ll ever get? It must be a worry though, especially with the down bag you need on a winter trip like that. Fingers crossed it doesn’t happen again that bad! Take care pal 👍

I was referred to this video by Ben H. Lovely video. Scotland is so beautiful. What I liked: 1) Spectacular panoramic views, 2) More pans of scenery than talking, 3) A brief view of your meal, rather than 30 tedious minutes of showing us how you cooked it (although your title sort of implies that you did), and 4) In an arena dominated by men, you, as a lone female, trekking. What I didn't like: You on the edge of the cliff, and the point-of-view shot looking over it -- eeeek! :)

Mari that was one heck of a ballsey pitch - no chance I'd have pitched where you did lol. But wow! How good did your Soulo look - that's when red tents are priceless, those stunning backdrops, the covering of snow, summit camping, looking chilled out and relaxed to the max. I've heard from many that the Soulo's are renowned for condensation issues - but you know what? When I was up there with my Kuiu I had the same problems with condensation as well, no amount of venting would have kept the inner of my fly dry, it's just the damp overnight/morning atmosphere up there. I'll get in touch regarding a meet-up soon Mari, just need to get my off-time authorised for the next few months. Great video and great camp. Donna :)
Yes, but I’m still beating myself up for not finding the spot you camped on! Haha. I should not complain though, really, coz this spot was also very good. I didn’t have the same immense sky show that you had but I loved the dusting of snow I had here so really, I should stop complaining and just be grateful. Haha.
I’ve heard the same about the Soulo a hundred times before and always wondered as I’ve never had the same problem with mine…until this particular camp. Must be all the surrounding lochs and lochans contributing to the damp air.
No pressure, Donna…I’ve used up all my Annual Leave this year so will probably have to be next year. 😬

Incredible Mari and that probably doesn't describe the camp well enough. The exposure itself and the slim ridge kind of brought you closer to the vast open void and vistas. A sensation for sure. One step that way or that way and you were on different sides of the mountain. Good going. Loved that. Mark

My wife and I have not been camping in Scotland yet, although we did some cycling in 2019.
Most of our camping so far is in the Peak District or Lake District.

Epic camping spot there Mari and the views worth just going up to Scotland for that. You pick some great camping spots. Looks cold. How was the route up and down. You take snow chains for ya boots? I use to take crampons but found them mostly not much good in UK winters. I think all tents suffer from Condensation at some point. Hope your well look forward to your next one. Richard
Hey, Richie! Thanks so much. The route was pretty easygoing, path was excellent so no bother underfoot. I didn’t take crampons as it wasn’t gonna be heavy snow and ice on this small mountain. I was planning on going up Beinn Alligin that day but weather forecast changed for that munro so i went here instead. ☺️ Are you well? Any Christmas adventures planned?
