The Android unit gets a signal from the cars iDrive. Automaticaly switches it. Hence you use the lead from the box for camera power instaed of the reversing light.
The android box will not work without an iDrive. Once you have the box installed change the setting on tbe Android unit to aftermarket camera. Put the car in reverse and see if the screen switches over.
