I have more faith in airplanes than in humanity. I might be in love with planes, especially jumbo jets, but I’ll never have to worry about them betraying me!🥰 An ex-friend/significant other can take back all of the good things you did together, but no one can steal the fun of flying on sonic jumbo jets nor undo the memories of such flights! Really, what are the chances of something going wrong on your flight such as an engine failure vs someone you’re rather close to mistreating you? *_Weird how the Q400 sounds more like a fighter jet than than the jetliners here despite being a prop!_*
@@Nimbus342 Yeah! I was expecting a grating buzzing or humming more than that harsh whooshing whir which is similar to what most fighter jets sound like without afterburners on! Forget the non-Q Dash 8s which were much louder, their propellers made an awful dissonant droning sound which sounded more like the thunderous roar of a big jetliner than the bass-boosted buzz/hum of other props, yet still sounding incredibly different from both. The most annoying thing about them was that they emitted an ear-piercingly loud howling whistle similar to that of certain private jets but louder and slightly less smooth. The non-Q Dash 8 also made an whooshing sound like that of jets instead of a whirring sound like with other turboprops making it sound even more like a jet. The whooshing sound by the way is caused by the plane displacing the air around it as it moves. Jets have much more aerodynamic noise because they're bigger so they displace more air and they're faster so they displace this air more violently. The whir of turboprops comes from some aerodynamic noise, prop wash, and the turbine exhaust noise. Jetliners are actually the loudest of them all, but they're so low-pitched that we can barely hear most of it due to the fact that our ears are less sensitive to lower frequencies than higher ones. For instance, the 747 is 140 dB while Concorde measured in at 119.4 dB, but people still perceived the latter to be twice as loud despite being more than 20 dB quieter due it being so much higher in pitch which gave it that earraping-like tearing sound. The same goes for fighter jets with their afterburners on! But the real question is; what are your thoughts on the first two parts of my comment?
@@Nimbus342 Exactly, that's why engineers strive to construct planes to be as safe and efficient as possible and growing more advanced by the month! Imagine what the Wright brothers would've thought about the planes we have today!
