He was great. He one of my favorite fighter. Karate style makes MMA more interesting. Add more dimension to MMA. Like the philly shell or Peek a boo styles in boxing. Everybody don't need to be Muy Thai style fighters to be champ.

Lyoto has been consistent as a martial artist and still looks great for his longevity in his career. Most of his opponents have retired or let themselves go. He's up there with GSP in terms of discipline and professionalism.

Machida controlou a luta em pé e qdo teve oportunidade botou no singolegue e levou para o chão. E no fim do terceiro round só não finalizou pq o gongo tocou. Parabéns, Machida. 40 anos e ainda tem muito para nos dar.
Acho que ele não conseguiria finalizar mesmo se tivesse mais tempo. Ele não tinha encaixado bem a finalização nem conseguiu acabar com a respiração do cara kkkk
Looked like Rafael might've been too powerful for Lyoto, but everything taken together, I'd at least like to say that Machida sealed a victory with that last takedown.
Karate is legit. It works on the highest level of MMA. Wonderboy is past his Prime and dominate elite MMA fighters. Imagine Wonderboy in MMA in his Prime. GSP claimed his back ground is Karate and he doesn't like sacrifice movement because of it. He is also one of the best MMA fighters of all time. Karate won UFC belts and on of the best MMA fighter of all time had Karate background. You can't get more legit than that. I think Karate makes MMA more interesting. It's like the Peek-a-boo style or Philly Shell style in boxing. They all work and they all have their strength and weakness, but these styles can also win belts.
Ive always loved watching lyoto. His style is meant more for being faster. I feel thats why he won at lhw so much because he was faster than anyone else. Now that he fights at middleweight others being even close in speed makes him lose more imo. But hes older now. Love the guy
its good to see MACHIDA win again. going against young talented guys today may prove tough for an aging icon like him but i still wanna see the old LYOTO MACHIDA.
