We love the trope of one person against forty three trained assassins/bodyguards who patiently wait their turns to get slaughtered LOL
works for Marvel, Matrix, LotR and Star Wars but those movies are declared fantasy so it works :)
Even the Bourne trilogy had a bit more to offer than a 90 pound girl taking multiple beatings from trained men.
I like Helen Mirren's character :D That is a good role for a strong woman.
@@crabjockey in matrix literally everyone in group fights attacks at the same time. Its not this trope whatsover.
LotR barely has these situations if at all. Ill need a timestamp.
@@squattingheads matrix reloaded, neo with a stop sign in a courtyard.
LotR, they do fight simultaneously, I agree. however, recall the battle of Helm's deep when Gimli and Legolas are counting their kills into the twenties. One character is dispatching many foes seemingly with ease.
did we watch the same video? i thought the choreography was great. there was no "waiting" and mostly focused on luck and agility. rather than the odd strength cut. she uses the gun most of the time.
@@dallassegno her with a gun or the pole from the bar was really the only saving grace. But over powering a man's arms simply wouldn't work. More likely, because she doesn't weigh much, she would lift herself off the ground rather than force an arm to move.
You would think after the first minute of the fight that you couldn't walk over all the bodies. They forgot to tell her it was the bodyguards awards dinner.
Exactly.
They were lousy at their jobs so no awards for them!
- She has no education. And we need a different profile.
- (cites Chekhov)
- OMG that's hilarious. You are in the business. Approved.
Yeah that was the candidate selection strategy at the KGB, no doubt.

With that much plot armor, who would have thought that your gun wouldn't work 🤷
I wouldn't bother to check my gun either if I know I'm the main character 🤣

My goodness Helen is such an incredible actress. I have adored her for many years. So I guess I am biased. Going to have to seek out this movie to watch it.
whose Helen? What about the tall blonde? Now thats INCREDIBLE!
@@trevorregay9283 Helen Mirren. I'm an old coot so I tend to fancy women closer to my age. But yes, Sasha would be quiet appealing if I were 20-30 years younger.
It is essentially a remake of La Femme Nikita, by the writer director of both, Luc Besson. I think he did it because he knew he could do the action sequences far far better than he could for his first major movie. But, given that caveat, it's an excellent movie for the kind of movie it is (if you're looking for _slow family drama,_ this ain't it... )
I highly recommend it if you are interested in an Action picture. Luc Besson is excellent at those, and always has been. Offhand, you can trust anything by Besson as a writer-director-producer -- especially if he did at least two of those. The only two films of his I'd classify as "weak" are _Joan of Arc_ and _The Family._
Now, I'll grant not everyone likes him as much as I do, and would at least take issue with _Valerian,_ but I think it was just less than everyone hoped, and isn't at all bad... peeps just expected too much.
There are several of his films where there were a number of sequels, not claiming the later numbers are _as good_ ( _TheTransporter, Banlieu 13,_ and _Taxi_ come to mind), but even those are "ok".
@@nickbrutanna9973 I finally watched "ANИA" and oh my goodness was I completely immersed. I'll be recommending this one to my friends!!!
I would never have recognised her if her name wasn't in the blurb.
"It takes more than intelligence to act intelligently!"
👌
Anna failed the assignment when she neglected to inspect her firearm!
Well she kinda looks like Olivia Thrilby in Dredd and since she got a pass despite losing her gun, I guess Anna got one too just to keep it consistent!😁
One of the best things in this fight was sort of her weight, or lack of, being on display. Sometimes the action gets so "girl power" that it just ignores physics entirely, a 200ish lbs mass of bodyguard running into a 120ish mass of protagonist would send them crashing into all sorts of stuff. Making that realism happen and having her still wreck shop was masterful.
Girl poooooower auiiiiii!!! :D
Sorry, but this is still so "girl power" that you have to be really "wanting" to see any realism here.

This episode is stupid at every single frame. A list of its stupidities would comprise an encyclopedia (a Big Soviet one, perhaps).
@@InconspicuousChap yes, but its a lot of fun to watch this hot chick kick some ass though........
Better yet she should know what a loaded gun feels like.
@@nilomyki Could have been filled with dummy rounds.

Everyone! ua-cam.com/video/9ntOce4kEJg/v-deo.html

And how many young stuntmen are there in France?
Everyone has stormtrooper aim. 😂
I saw this on The True Story Channel. So I know it's truly happened just this way.
That's one sharp fork.
Hilarious to watch the random shit the people in the background are doing the fight, just to make it look busy :D
Veers into fantasy fighting after the first fantastic opening scene and initial fight. Then, it turns into a cartoon.
Another film where there are so many cuts that it's impossible to make any sense of the fight scene. And what kind of assassin doesn't check an anonymous weapon first thing upon getting it? Obviously they wanted her to fail, but why put their target on the defensive when she does? Dumb.
Being able to quote from a book does not make one intelligent. That is just a good memory.
Respectfully, the point of that exchange went over your head.
@@amoose3582 Respectfully, I understood more than you imagine. Scripture is to be lived not quoted. This pastor and his church will implode on their own. Actual Christians, those who enact Christlike virtues in their own lives, will stop coming and it will shut down. Oh wait, that already happened. Now, if you could stop being a pillock for a moment in your sordid life, maybe you will put your brain in gear before you comment next time. Have a nice day.
One day, there will be an action sequence in a hollywood movie where the protagonist is attacked by 3 or more bandits and loses instead of stunt doubles generously stepping up one at a time, taking slaps to the face and going flying. Because that's how it actually works in real life.
@@robkingsbury2780 Yeah, but john Wick sets up a " not quite real world " with its direction and the inclusion of myth and legend. Of course the continental. It's fine for movies to push the "This is pretty much a Comic, enjoy" vibe. But often we get movies that take themselves serious in all facets expect for the physical realities. If you bend more rules than just that the movies generally feel a lot better.
My gripe here is it required a lot of camera switches to make it less obvious how outmatched she should have been. If they had a her controlling the fight with positioning it would have been a much cooler fight scene. But hey, it's pretty much a Comic, enjoy.
The movie, is pretty good. Popcorn and Beer style...
Either way it's a damn movie you're gonna have to ignore your disbelief
@@robkingsbury2780Wait, do you really think an action movie can’t be done, without a protagonist who can slaughter 2 dozen people with their bare hands?
@@robkingsbury2780 Or… get this… he just uses tactics to pick people off one by one and doesn’t take on more than a small group of people at a time.
And honestly, the first Taken movie wasn’t even that bad with this. All of the fight scenes I can remember, only had him take on a few people at a time, usually with some environmental factor delaying their ability to come at him all at once. Some of them even had him struggle quite heavily with just one person at a time.
And have you seen the original Die Hard movie? As much plot armor as he had, there still wasn’t a single moment where he was casually stomping people in hand to hand. Ironically, I think the first Fast and Furious movie was even more grounded than that.
I mean hell… there are action movies like Enemy of State where the protagonist has NO combat ability, whatsoever.
I would say that one fight scene in Atomic Blonde was pretty good. Charlize was getting cooked in that fight too honestly. She just thankfully made it out alive.
Anna Wick.... Aggressively beautiful
I haven't seen John Wick or The Transporter do any better than that. Awesome fight scene!
3:25 Hey, it's the Hollywood strangle! Learned about that from a Tom Scott video.
This looks forking excellent.
Anna is magnificent ❤

That's why you always check a weapon, even when your boss hands it to you on your first mission. I would have failed her even after she wasted the target and his reinforced platoon of bodyguards.
Keep in mind that if this weren't, in fact, a scripted piece of well-choreographed entertainment intended to instil a sense of dramatic tension into what might have otherwise been a pretty boring scene, the actual test would have been how well she adapted to the situation once it all went to hell... I don't think we should condemn poor unsuspecting Anna based on her poor sense of tactical field expertise.
The whole scene is bullshit. You could tell the difference between a loaded automatic and an empty automatic just by the weight of the damned gun.
@@Raven.flight You are 100% correct! If you have had actual training and experience in handling weapons, as well as some discipline and a sense of self preservation, you would have made sure that you knew the status of that weapon before you left the vehicle and long before you stepped into your targets face.
@@dpeasehead You and Raven.flight are absolutely right. Have a nice day.
@@Raven.flight
Except it could have been loaded with "popcaps" or the equivalent, which would have added weight but not done anything when fired. I'm sure that whoever would have been handing her the gun could not have possibly figured this out, even though I just came up with an obvious solution on the fly...
But hey, you want to hate a piece of action-thriller for not being "perfectly realistic enough" for you, so by all means, _loathe away..._
LOLZ. 😛
I LOVE that punch at 4.45! so powerful and raw!
She said... "Stick a fork in it. Done."
this is one of the all time fight scene... Sasha Luss shows strength and speed (part of the credit goes to directing and action design of course) with her slim body, salute to her. and Lus Besson can really surprise people every time with his unique sense of seeing actors with potentials
Despite some obviously exaggerated action scenes and fights, this movie makes Red Sparrow look like a teen TV drama, in terms of believability and immersion.
5:36 after realizing she's on a real clock this time.
She's so lucky that the dozen armed bodyguards all run outside of cover directly into her line of fire, weapons still holstered.
This was a great movie!
Shes is a perfect Nina Willians
There were still restaurant patrons "running for cover" for the full 5 minutes, and very close to the action. IRL, within 30 seconds of the first gunshot, the place would have been emptied out of everybody except combatants.
such good choreography in this movie
Indeed. It's a dance, not a fight.
great scene. great film and actors.
For a killer not checking if the gun isn't loaded before the mission is ludicrous 😂😂😂😂 lol
Bravissimo❤ 🥰🤗
Gostei tem ação eu vou quere assistir
Lol always found it hilarious when a 100lb girl takes multiples dudes twice her size lol slamming their heads on tables like it's nothing
Agreed. Don’t usually care much for realism in movies on the whole, but a scrawny young woman throwing guys two and a bit times her weight seems a little too silly.
that's a high quality fork
Adversity is a good teacher indeed.
Brilliant film, thoroughly enjoyed it. The first assignment in the restaurant was the best fight scene imho and Sasha is so beautiful! Well done Luc Besson!
5:58 Yeah, that's possible. LOL
The worst kill of a guy in this scene
The actress is badass
She goes full weasel!
How have I never seen this movie?!?
This action scene is very well choreographed and shot. I love the main actress Sasha Luss. I actually watched this movie mainly because I thought she was really hot. However, the rest of this movie is purposefulness and unfocused. The lesbian direction that the movie took was also a turn off. Not my cup of tea.
A gun without all bullets feels lighter.
I think we just found the female version of John Wick 😂😂
Still, it’s a fun movie. Youre right of course. All such movies the guards never Bum Rush the hero.
It's weird because every person I know who are familiar with guns always do the same thing when they are ever first handed a gun, and that's checking it. But for some reason in these movies these so-called professionals never seem to care about verifying the condition of firearms they are given...
thats one super sexy assassin :)
i haven't watched this movie but judging by this scene they did "strong female character" correctly, which is refreshing to see now-a-days,
she doesn't overpower the men physically, but she uses technique and skill to take them down.
It's still strong female nonsense. She would've lost 1 on 1 against any of those men in real life, never mind all 40-something of them.
And she uses every gun she can get her hands on!👍
Makes up for not checking the one she was handed.😬
And it looks just as stupid
One can’t deny that Russia makes sturdy cutlery.
Great acting, by HM. Good choreography, not great, but good. Worth seeing more of. Sucker for female assassins. Like Nikita.
i think nice move if john wick and anna collab
Black widow dans une réalité parallèle.😊
The thumbnail made think this was a Dredd clip, that’s all YT has been showing me this week
Me too.
Best action film made for the last 10 years. Just brilliant.
I have not seen this movie, first time watching this scene, I thought they set her up to be very smart and cunning, so when they gave her this mission on the spot, no recon, no planning, I was expecting her to do something out of the box and witty. Instead, she played the mission how I played all my video game missions, give up the stealth, just go straight in, button smash and pray for lucky crits, and a cheat code here and there too. (like the 360 no scope behind her back, using the wall hack at the end would have help tho) ... and she is not even chasing after the guy that killed her dog...!!
Video Super 💯💯❤️❤️😊😊👍👍 .
I think I preferred the version with Bridget Fonda, Although the versions with Anne Parillaud (in French) and the TV version with Peta Wilson were also very good.
Everybody had a gun but they choose to grab her.... Interesting!
And everyone waited their turn!
Not since Team America World Police has 'acting' been named a crucial skill for a spy. Except in this film, they mean it seriously.
Seen this twice, great movie.
So, let's get it right: She doesn't check the weapon she's just been handed; she goes full Jason Statham and defeats an entire restaurant-full of armed bodyguards twice her weight, who for some reason not only queue up to attack her with their bare hands or makeshift weapons instead of shooting her from behind as they had a hundred chances to do; when they do shoot, they only do it from a distance and their aim is so bad they look like they're auditioning for Star Wars; and finally, having been clocked on the head from behind with a bloody great brass object, she beats this huge bloke (who has been where, all this time?) as he's choking her, with a dinner fork (which she magically locates by pure feel while being throttled). By puncturing the two-inch layer of fat on his chest?
Right.
One thing I'll say for this clip, it saved me the trouble of enduring the actual movie. 😁
John Wick needs to marry this woman.
And if she had just checked her weapon on the way into the restaurant, I guess Helen Mirren would've handed over a coupla mags? Goodish scene, in a heavily indebted 'Atomic Blonde' kinda way.
She really forked the crap out of that one guy.
It's really funny to see this action scene at a restaurant that is literally in 2 steps from KGB headquarter. 😁
At 4:39. Anna "dishing out" some punishment. 😃
03:40 мёртвый охранник вероятно резко полегчал😂? Что-бы так носить на руках килограмм 100 - здоровья немерено 😂.
Why does the Helen Mirren character (Olga) remind me Edna from "The Incredibles"?
She makes Reacher look bush league.
i clicked this with the hope it would maybe excite me to watch a movie again, its been a while, but na... perhaps im too critical, and realistic... if you are that good, you would check your gun first... also it wouldn't go click click twice, just once...
Was very interested to watch Ava starring Jessica Chastain but it doesn't seem to be available
First time I've seen anything of this movie. Now going to watch Nikita instead.
Жизненноо😂😂😂🎉
She got her ass beat, she wasn't snarky and all self confident through out. Fell for the empty gun trap. That is an acceptable level of girl boss.
Based on the french movie "Nikita" off course.
And I thought "M" was cuddly.
2:30 Anachronism. There WERE no "Phones" to be grabbed, while there was a KGB. First cellphone service started in Moscow in 1994. KGB was disbanded in 1991.
Lord that is a lot of bodyguards, I would have quit.
It's the suit-maker from "The Incredibles!"
Can´t believe she would make just a rookie mistake. If you put a gun anywhere on your body, you want to know in what loaded condition it is. You also notice the weight of a loaded or unloaded gun etc. Cool scene though
I was actually interested in this a Femme Fatale , and possibly a good one... only to have it all crash down in the fight scene, it takes everyone ages to scatter from the area and its like there is a bazzilion body guards and waiter staff body guards... like holy hell..
you mean to tell me she went into a conflict wihout knowing the condition of her weapons.
The coat alone would have restricted her movements. Pure fantasy.
Girl bosses, so stunning and brave
Good for a few chuckles (petite woman taking down dudes).
So this is NIKITA?
Was the entire restaurant filled with this man’s entourage?
LOL
I wouldn't have ever guessed that grim old lady is Helen Mirren.
silliness
Five minutes? I might as well take the shot from here...
