I was at Newlands for the one test. Mitch Johnson tore us to shreds. He was just too good. It was something I feel priviledged to have witnessed. Obviously I back SA everytime as that's my home but to witness those Mitch Jonson thunderbolts in person was something special. Personally, I think it was the tache.

That Australia vs South Africa series was epic, two absolutely amazing teams and Australia was able to win it largely thanks to Johnson and Clarke. Was only 3 tests for memory but deserved 5!
I miss that South African team, so many greats and they were deservedly the top test team in the world for quite a while around 2013 era

Gotta love a clown that thinks baseball is tougher than cricket. You mean the game where the ball weighs about half as much and the fielders need to wear a special glove to catch the ball? What a drongo you are.

Plenty more where they came from, some I'd say even more fierce - in the preceding Ahes tour he mentally disintegrated England, won the series single-handed. Trott went home early - mentally shot. A few retired. And re South Africa, Graeme Smith (one very tough hombre') was on receiving end of a few of the most terrifying examples. Johnson dismissed him with a few murderous balls, and also broke his hand - twice possibly. I have some recall of Kallis retiring hurt after receiving a Johnson bouncer. He was an up and down bowler - but when he was on, as frightening a fast bowler as there's ever been. That includes Thompson and the entire peak Windies cartel.

Felt sorry for Mclaren who endured a career ending series here against a Johnson who was never as good prior to or after this season (incuding the Ashes prior to this). On another pathway he might have debuted against another team and ended up wirh a useful test career ,maybe averaging 30 with bat and ball.

That is one of the most outlandish calls since ET phoned home. Johnson was twice voted International player of the year. He tormented the south africans on there on deck in 2009 and 2014. Johnson had one poor ashes tour at home and away and other than that he was all time great. Johnson bowled in the absolute worst era for bowlers where the world went crazy with flat decks offering nothing and even in that era he had batsman backing away or zero footwork in full protective gear like they were facing the Windies of the 80s or jeff thomson. Its absolute slander to think Johnson had 1-2 good series and didn't bowl like that again or prior. The fact teams had to try and nullify johnson with media bashing and constant crowd sledging and producing pitches that were lifeless from day 1 shows how much of a threat he was every time he bowled.
