I've never seen DIY Instructional Videos as Descriptive and Visual as Yours. Thanks to you and your Camera Man for putting the effort and quality in to these videos! It helps a lot, especially since im a Visual Learner. Side Note - I was gonna have one of those cables custom built for a bench machine i have for $25 but now i know how to make one :D
I had to order there pulleys off Amazon. Couldn't find them anywhere. Building the power rack now. This way I can put the top 4×4 on a table and drill the holes. Makes it a lot easier. I don't have the skills of DIY Duke here to drill above my head. The man is amazing
I watched several videos on home made cable systems and this is the first one I didn't give me visions of catastrophic failure. Putting the pulleys on top of the rack using bolts, instead of hanging them below it using (drywall?) screws makes so much more sense. Great Job!
I am a buff dude and I really appreciate your videos . Love watching them . I was only able to build the bench press which it was challenging hehehe as I am totally a buff dude with no hands skills at all except lifting weights hehe. Thanks so much sir for your friendly and educational videos . I wish I can be good with my hands like you . All respect and appreciation ..👍👍💪💪
It does take a while to acquire those skill sets and it sounds like you're on your way to building things. "Rome wasn't built in a day" as the saying goes so dont be discouraged because anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it. Thank you also. 💪😀
As a fellow DIYer, these videos are awesome. Some people can just follow these easy to follow instructions and go build some equipment. Other more DIY inclined people like me like to build upon these ideas and make some really good equipment. Keep it up Buff family!!
I found you and the Buff Dudes about a week ago and it has been AMAZING! I thought I was going to have to spend thousands of dollars to get a home made gym in my basement. I'm going to see if my friend who is handy has Duke can put his skills to use for me and help me create my own basement gym. Thank you for the videos Duke and for the Buff Dudes videos on workouts and the examples of what exercises are best for the areas you're working out. You guys Rock! please keep making more videos! Thanks and take care!
I love this channel. I'm going to attempt some of the builds, but even if I wasn't, it's still great. You have to like a channel that's got a really likeable person behind it. Keep up the great work.
six GERES actually that's the poster from the movie "Predator" Was never in the military. Have a great respect for those who were which includes many family members.
i just built the power rack and it looks awesome and feels very sturdy. time to do all you other diy's. thanks alot for the videos you remind me alot of my dad cool, calm, and wise.
Nice CJ in the background. I watch these videos for the weights but its awesome to see all the old rigs you have. Like the old bronco in the other video (Power rack or bench video) I have an 83 CJ-7. Love those rigs.
built this last week. thanks so much for video. I just put pull up bars front and back and clipped pulleys to them. This keeps weight on the uprights and not the joint of the crossing beams. Plus the pulley system can slide over to side when not in use... or even off.
thank you soo very much for making these videos i wish i would of found them sooner. thhe power rack and the pully is truley amizing and i cannot wait to build these items!!
That's some serious work you've made there . Awesome garage gym. What i would like to see though is a power tower for people like me who don't have enough space for a power rack
I made something similar...for a weight tray, I used old floor lamp base (these are usually found under the decorative covering) with a 18" eye rod/screw. Worked perfectly
one of the best and awesome videos i`ve ever seen, i don`t wanna talk about this channel tho, it won my heart a long time ago. good stuffs and great knowledge sir. you and your family are helping us to achieve things that we thought we could not gain. thanks from the core of my heart ! respect ! :)
The other day I was complaining about doing a DIY now after reading your comment I will remind myself that there are people like yourself that enjoy them. Thank you for giving me the motivation to continue. There is a saying, "Iron sharpens iron." Indeed it does.
Good job Buff Dad! I just subscribed to Buff Dudes and you're just as entertaining and informative as your boys. Good job on those too! Keep the videos coming!
If you run the cables just below the cross members instead of over, you only need 2 pulleys rather than 4. You can also use larger diameter pulleys, which work more smoothly.
had he put pulleys underneath he would shortened his max cable travel considerably- plus had the cable coming down inside the power rack posts. I would have put a block under the front pulley bringing it even further out in front
When is you're video for the fly cable attachment for the power rack coming out? I'm making a materials and price list so I can start buying materials to start making the power rack. I have enjoyed all your diy exercise equipment videos. Thank you for making and posting them.
Thanks for the video mate. Going to see what I can do tomorrow and hopefully add this. Will change a few things like how the weights are attached. But overall mate a very good job and thank you for the insight.
thank im going to build a power rack thank for the step by step instructions wish i seen this just buy a home multi gym with lap pulldown ur the man good video
One thing you yanks are good at is home garage and basement building projects. The stuff you have access to there is way above a lot of countries though
Awesome, I'll be doing that once I've built mine. It got me thinking though. If you did two more of those cable attachments, exactly the same on the back (one to the right, one to the left), and had some sort of metal cap that involves the rack hole from the outside - perhaps a metal cap outside, one inside and some pipe/bolt through the hole - with a pulley from the inside, you'd potentially have a adjustable two-sided cable attachment. I don't really think I was that clear, I tried though. I'm not sure if the wood would take either. Anyway, awesome work.
Hi, Erik here from Karlstad, Sweden. Love your videos and I would appreciate if you could make a video of which common basic tools you use, or just make videos of how-to-build-things. After watching your videos I bought a speed square, tape measure, corded drill driver and a vise grip and I have become very inspired to build things (such as decking and a small cottage). Thank you so much for your videos, they have inspired me a lot. /Erik
im gonna download all these videos so one day I can teach my son to build things like this, with his hands, like a real man, yes that was a fairy tail anime refrence
Just found this gem, looks great! but might not hurt to add another roller as a guide halfway up to help prevent that weight from swinging around so much.
If the pulley system was mounted side-to-side front-to-back, then you could mount additional pulleys on the spotter bars and pull from any direction rather than just down.
DIY Duke If I wanted to add on a low pulley, would I be able to just anchor another pulley attachment on the inside base board of the back 4x4 centered with the pulley attachment already anchored at the top and just re feed the same cable over that existing back top attachment, straight down to the new base attachment? And thank you DIY Duke for all your hard work with these projects, you've got me addicted on wanting to complete this, such an incredible, practical design.
What I plan to do on mine is have the top horizontal pieces extend out roughly 3.5" then add another 4x4 across the rack. This will give you more room out front when doing pull-downs, etc so your hands or knuckles aren't hitting the vertical beams.
Less pulleys. perhaps some of you have thought of this. instead of 4 pulleys, use only 2. 1 at the bottom of the front top 4x4 and 1 at the bottom of the lower rear 2x6. I'm going to try it today on mine. my thinking is that you'll have a high bar pulley for lat pulldowns and low bar pulley for cable curls. just a thought.
Just as a heads up, the center cable clamp is backwards. The saddle goes over the live end, and the ubolt goes over the dead end. This way the ubolt crimps the dead end and doesn't allow it to slip.
I making a wooden power rack and I want make one system pull down your ideas go help me when the second version? I, m french and I have 59 years your vidéos on training or dye are very Good and very hilarious thank you man!
I'm really enjoying these videos. I built my own rack already. Unfortunately I have ana even lower ceiling. Any idea what I could do with only about 2 inches space above the beams? I really would love to add this option.
I hear you on the low ceiling -sucks. What I did first was to attach the pulley to the pull up bar then would need to put a pull up bar on the back of the power rack and you have the same set up except below so the low ceiling won't affect you. They sell pulleys with a ring you can attach a hook to then slip the pull up bar through.
DIY Duke That's a good idea, which I can work with. Thanks Duke. And keep upthe good work. It's really inspiring. I think without you and your sons I would have never got into weight lifting.
Adding this to my metal rack with 2x2 beams that are hollow. The pulleys on the top can be secured by washers and nuts just like the video but how do I secure the pulleys on the sides? I’m drilling into a hollow beam and the fasteners can’t go all the way through or they’ll be in the way of the bolts for the pulleys on top
Duke must be a teacher he's very detailed about everything and very informative. He should have a show on the home channel!!!
Thanks to Buff Mom for shooting and editing the videos including this one and the many exciting ones coming up.
DIY Duke God bless the Buff clan!
+DIY Duke wish my family like you all buff
DIY Duke U good? U seem a little twitchy.
Michael Mota He has a disorder where his hand is just twitchy like that, he mentioned that in a video.
DIY Duke, you're the man! You seem like a super cool dad. Buff Dudes are quite lucky!
thanks Bert
Bert Macklin FBI totally agree!
Which is it pal, Bert or Paul?
I am actually astounded by your skills. This is literally a family of talent, from editing to handsomeness to muscles to nutrition, to etc..
I had to order there pulleys off Amazon. Couldn't find them anywhere. Building the power rack now. This way I can put the top 4×4 on a table and drill the holes. Makes it a lot easier. I don't have the skills of DIY Duke here to drill above my head. The man is amazing
I just added my cable attachment and was not liking the final product. Your idea solved my delimena. Great video. Thank you.
I watched several videos on home made cable systems and this is the first one I didn't give me visions of catastrophic failure. Putting the pulleys on top of the rack using bolts, instead of hanging them below it using (drywall?) screws makes so much more sense. Great Job!
I enjoy these vids so much.
thank you
me tooooooooooo!!!!! addicted to this channel thoooooooo
Best diy channel on UA-cam
Thank you 😀

I feel like "Innovative" was the word you were going for
awesome video!! and that's a sick power rack!! can't believe its home made.
thanks bdawg

Happy to hear you'll be able to have your own home gym. Glad we could help with that.
this guy makes me miss my grandpa....he was so similar, even had the shakes.
Anyone else here because corona closed your gym and you're trying to add a pull down cable for your homemade power rack?
I’m going to start building mine this weekend
Just built my power rack yesterday!
Just added a cable system to my Titan rack.
My racks almost done lmao
Anybody from Europe with the measurements? It's very confusing to build the powerrack otherwise :C
I love this channel.
I'm going to attempt some of the builds, but even if I wasn't, it's still great.
You have to like a channel that's got a really likeable person behind it. Keep up the great work.
thanks Gary
Saw that military related poster. Thanks so much for your service if that's a picture of you and your teammates! Absolutely awesome!

All of your videos are fascinating to watch sir. Thank you from across the pond in Scotland.
great to hear from Scotland-thank you
Nice CJ in the background. I watch these videos for the weights but its awesome to see all the old rigs you have. Like the old bronco in the other video (Power rack or bench video) I have an 83 CJ-7. Love those rigs.
Awesome Vid- When I saw the power rack I thought it was begging for a cable system. Great DIY tips too.
That's what I thought too Steele. Now I want to expand on that.
A last reaction was superb sir
Thank you
You are a good profesor and u explain each detal ,from dominican republic
Thank you Yovani 😀
I loved the mid episode change of look haha! Awesome stuff!
Yeah get tired of seeing the same guy in the mirror
built this last week. thanks so much for video. I just put pull up bars front and back and clipped pulleys to them. This keeps weight on the uprights and not the joint of the crossing beams. Plus the pulley system can slide over to side when not in use... or even off.
Very solid base/frame/rack whatever you call it. Nice!!!
😀
thank you soo very much for making these videos i wish i would of found them sooner. thhe power rack and the pully is truley amizing and i cannot wait to build these items!!
+scotie100 you're very welcome, thanks for commenting.
Thanks for this video. I've been struggling to replace cable exercises. This means I don't have to.
The best creative builder I've seen. Keep it up thanks so much!
That's some serious work you've made there . Awesome garage gym. What i would like to see though is a power tower for people like me who don't have enough space for a power rack
Put a cover on that electrical box!!!!! Great vid Buff Dad!
I made something similar...for a weight tray, I used old floor lamp base (these are usually found under the decorative covering) with a 18" eye rod/screw. Worked perfectly
Quality stuff as ever Duke, thanks for doing these, great resource! Always fun to make your own equipment.
Thank you Dermot.
Buff dude DIY Dave, that was amazing! Haha it's perfect! Simple but yet so effective
Sorry I meant Duke!

nicely said sir .. these are some heavy words indeed !
Make a bottom one for bicep exercises
if you put it on the side instead of up front. you can put a pully at the bottom and use a cable extension to connect it to the main cable
Power rack + cable addition will be my first project in my new house!
A NEW house-congratulations.
Good job Buff Dad! I just subscribed to Buff Dudes and you're just as entertaining and informative as your boys. Good job on those too! Keep the videos coming!
you are great man. I own The Boot Fitness Camp in Central Fl. and thought I was a genious coming up with this one of stuff, and here you are. lol
Great stuff guys please keep up the good work!

if you can add a pull up attachment to your pull down attachment, then this is a definite build for me.
I love the jeep cj in the background and the jeep crome grill cover over the window, I have the same thing.
Thanks, it was a 3 year project and was happy to get it done 78 CJ5. 😃

I'm seeing what you mean Gabriel and definitely want to add a double cable. Thank you.
Great video as expected! Greetings from your fan in Brazil
thiago sena thanks Thiago.
This might be the damn best UA-cam video I've ever seen! Thank you!!!!
Love that Predator poster!!
💪
Thanks for taking the time to show how to do it from A to Z.
Hey, you look like Walter White!
You're welcome 😀

Great video. Next time, how about make lat pulldown, that´s gonna be awesome.
+Ronaldo Ferreyra This IS a lat pulldown..
+Ronaldo Ferreyra There is a pull up bar attachment
There is cool, cooler, and then DIY Duke
awesome project
Great job looking good
Just found this gem, looks great! but might not hurt to add another roller as a guide halfway up to help prevent that weight from swinging around so much.

Hi there, Appreciated for sharing knowledge.

Nice Deliverance poster
Any way to make it also useful for a low row ?
This is just great!!DIY!!Thanks for the video.
Thankyou too for watching.
These videos are awesome! More!!!
Richard Cranston building gym equipment... awesome! you should paint it light blue :D
+Francisco Murillo ha ha, true blue for sure
really gooooood videos man! good job!
I recommend using the higher rated pulley in both positions due to doubling of load after adding force and counterforce
Great job! 😎
This is one of my favourites
Thanks Luke.
This dude is really awesone
+Ozgurys thank you
Thank you so much for these empowering videos! so creative!
An additional length of cable and a 3 in pulley and a load bearing link can add a row pull/ bicep curl upgrade
What a great video. Also different type of cable attachment can be purchased separately from eBay or Amazon
Keep up the good work!
I just discovered your videos for the power rack.. 1 word: Amazing!
Can you also add some type of 'add on' to store the weights plates on the sides?
Thankyou, yes you could using the same 3/4 in pipe add a weight storage rack which actually counter balance the power rack, great idea 💪
buff dude you do awesome work can you make a leg extensions machine
I making a wooden power rack and I want make one system pull down your ideas go help me when the second version? I, m french and I have 59 years your vidéos on training or dye are very Good and very hilarious thank you man!
buff dad you're so awesome .
everyone should have a pops like this
I'm really enjoying these videos.

That's a good idea, which I can work with. Thanks Duke. And keep upthe good work. It's really inspiring. I think without you and your sons I would have never got into weight lifting.
I'm glad you did, it's good to feel healthy and good about yourself. And it's a good example for others too.
fantastic! keep em coming! good stuff
+Nick Isaacs thanks Nick

DIY Duke. What a hero
Thankyou 😀💪
This guy is a legend.. 👊👍💪
