@@SuttonsDaze There is a compilation video of little snippets of UA-camrs (including you) while using/reviewing the lids. For me anyway, it occasionally pops up while you are doing a canning video. And to be honest, I sometimes play the same video 2 or 3 times because sometimes you are my "radio show" at work. I don't want to miss the important stuff (all) so I replay when I get home.

I normally like your videos a lot. This is one of the things that I absolutely love and appreciate about your videos you show when something messes up. You don’t try to make everything look perfect like so many people in their videos do thank you so much because I truly believe that we can’t learn, unless we understand the mistakes, knowing the people with your experience, still have issues sometimes helps a lot

I use the grill to roast tomatoes in the summer, keeps the heat out of the house. I have a theory about what may have caused your siphoning problem, when you blend them which they tell you to do it adds a lot of air and foam to the product, try giving it more of a chance to settle before putting in jars, I find it makes a big difference for me. Get a victorious strainer, makes life easier, I have the hand crank one with different ends, takes out all the seeds and skins, love mine.

I’ve been watching your channel for months and have learned sooo much. This is my first year of ever canning and I did spaghetti sauce yesterday! I had canned green beans a few weeks ago and used the dial pressure gauge and hated it (all kinds of up and down temperature trying to keep the correct pressure).
Yesterday was my first day with the jiggler and I LOVED IT!!!!! It was much easier (in my mind) to control the “hula dance”.
Hopefully, next week will be ketchup and another batch of dilly beans.
Oh, I have the 23qt Presto that I use and a granite water bath canner. I also am having slight battle with my boyfriends mother who is a very healthy 80 year old and still cans every year. She has never pressured canned anything. (Like the green beans, she wanted to water bath for 3 hours). I gently persuaded her it was better to pressure can for a shorter amount of time. 😬
Thank you so much for the how to videos and the encouragement. And best of luck with your upcoming surgery! I had my bypass in 2001! And have not regretted it a day since!!!!!

Hello Leisa! I literally just just found your channel and am looking forward to checking out what other videos you have! Thanks so very much for posting this recipe for canning!! This recipe is identical to the the one I make, however, I have never made it for canning & would really love to have a recipe I can use all my ripe tomatoes in and make my favorite soup to put on the shelf! So thank you so very much for posting! I can't afford this canning book! I am in Alberta Canada and it looks like the book itself is almost $60 plus I have shipping on top of that! So ridiculous. Anyway, that is why I appreciate your video so much! However, at about 12:30 into the video you state you will put in the description box the processing time for people who are over 1000 feet, but I must be blind, I don't see it. For my elevation of about 2200 feet, I believe I would likely have to process at 15 lbs for one hour according to Ball. Can you please check the book & confirm for me Leisa? Thank you!!
One tip to save you some hassle, instead of putting the hot soup into the blender, try an immersion blender. That is what I do and it works great & saves me a lot of time! However, in order to use the immersion blender, you have to have one, & perhaps you don't & that is why you are using a blender🤣.

Great looking soup! I agree with you about not cutting the cherry tomatoes, they roast up perfect, maybe even better. I have discovered with my canning adventures (I think I am grade 1 maybe graduating to grade 2) I have chosen to leave out certain herbs/spices, things I feel can be added later . Really want a product on the shelf I can play with. Wish you well 🥂

      @nestpeeper Рік тому +2

@@ritahunter3177 You don't need to have the gauge checked on an AA. Go by the weight dancing for processing. Unless you manage to take a chunk out of the weight it will always be an accurate measure for 5-10-15 lbs. You just follow the table for weighted gauge times instead of dial gauge times :). You only use the gauge to see how fast your pressure is rising and when it is fully cool. If your AA has the older petcock (lever) instead of the weight you can get the tube and weight from AA and change it over.

I was wondering about the wine / acidity issue, because it is PC it doesn't need to be acidic, so is the wine just for flavour?
Also might the siphoning be due to the fact the whole canner doesn't cool down so well in hot weather, so despite the gauge going to 0 the jars needed more time to settle before the PC lid is lifted? removed?

When you blend the maters it adds allot of air into the maters , so it may look like you have an inch headspace, but more then likely it's less cause of the air loss, which causes the syphoning also. Just talking from experience and correcting that issue when I blend things first, then put in jars to can, I let my blended mater to cook, settle for the air to get out, it takes a while and allot of stirring. Your syphoning wasn't probably all that bad, the water wasn't that bad, your jar loss I believe was air escaping

Leisa I am trying to catch up on videos. I have a question. Why didn't you put in the basil? Is it preference or does it can up pretty pungent?

Hello, Thank you for this recipe. I just bought a ball book but realized this was not the book I bought. Can you let me know what Ball said about the sub for wine since its been a few weeks now? Thank you!

The other lids don’t have a ping pop anymore either. Their’s is because they don’t have enough sealing material. They’re almost scary to use and I’m looking forward to being able to get some FORJARS lids. I just can’t yet because of my budget! As I reread this I was amazed at how the auto voice recording mangled the first part of this. Hopefully I’ve corrected the errors and now it makes more sense at least!

Did you debubble your tomato soup, before adding lids, etc? Maybe, if you didn't, that caused the siphoning???

QUESTION...I believe you read broth 4c as ingredient. Did you add this to your soup? I didn't see it in the video? I hope to make this tomorrow with my frozen tomatoes. This recipe is different than the one in my ball canning book called roasted leek tomato soup.

After reviewing video I see where you added broth. Another question...is the basil to be fresh only or can you add dried store bought? About how much? I know you chose not to add basil? Just a preference or is there a reason it is best not to? Just trying to learn.:) thank you for teaching. ❤

Leisa, I've watched at least three or four other videos with the tomato soup and a couple of them mentioned that because of the problem with tomatoes having a tendency to swell, they filled their bottles only up to the neck and not the one-inch line to allow for the swelling. My question to you ... Is this safe? and if so, do you need to adjust the canning time for having less content in the jars? I know this video is already a year old, but I do hope you were able to save the soup in those jars that cyphoned. May God always Bless you with good health, safety, and prosperity in all you do. God Bless Leisa and thank you for all the wonderful videos. P.S. I am trying to find out how to order from Azure in my area. I also would like to know more about the Thrive Life. ~SuzyJC-in-Central-Southeastern-Ohio_09.06.2023~

Do you think this would work ok with tomatoes that have been frozen? (I’m freezing them now to gather more as I don’t have enough at one time.)
