pretty much the same concept shown in this video except with a live, viable virus. the main difference (or shall I say benefits) is that with a vaccine, you would be able to create memory cells (such as memory T cells and memory B cells) that specifically target the spike protein, without having to be infected by the virus. this allows your immune system to effectively recognize antigens after an initial exposure and helps mount a much quicker and more efficient response against a specific virus, which is why hospitalizations amongst vaccinated individuals are low. do note that the adapative immune response takes days and sometimes weeks to mobilize without vaccination. this is because it takes time for naive B and T cells with the appropriate antigen specificities to be identified and activated. with vaccination, this step is basically skipped because circulating memory cells will immediately differentiate into plasma cells and helper T cells if infected by the virus, which is what leads to a stronger immune response. sometimes, the immune response is strong enough that the individual may not even realize that they have been exposed to a virus or before an infection becomes established.
