    After exploring the libs in this review and other specific reviews that stem from it by Cory, I purchased a number of the libs including InSession Creator Series consisting of 3,...Taiko, World Percussion and Drumatics, and also their Simmer, Shake, Strike lib . And then I also purchased Strezov Lightning X3M. After searching over the past few years for these types of libs, these are the best I've found. I'm very happy with all! Thanks Cory!

    Thank you so much for this video! You make great content, lot's of audio examples, really gives a good impression of what the libraries ar capable of. I also was looking for some good taikos like, 8dio's taiko ensemble or HZ percussion, but they both seemed (to me) a little too expensive. So I'm really considering Taiko creator, especially now its on sale! I never heard of it before, so thanks again!

      HZ Percussion is an expensive disappointment.

    • @samuelwittke511
      @samuelwittke511 4 роки тому +2

      I also agree, HZ Percussion is not the best installment for percussion. Too much ambience in the close mics, sometimes not enough dynamic capabilities...you can get the same sounds as from HZ with Apocalypse Perc Ensemble (Dhols, Doumbek Ensemble, Snares, Bassdrums) and Drums of the Deep 1(Taikos and Orchestral Bassdrums are sounding soo similar to HZ).

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  4 роки тому +3

      @@samuelwittke511 True, plus a few libraries (some on this list) emulate certain ensembles and recording techniques that HZ uses and they do it better than the HZ library for some reason. I find everyone wants to be HZ these days, including HZ, so there are a lot of libraries around that make the actual HZ libraries rather moot at this point.

    • @nickpouwels7282
      @nickpouwels7282 4 роки тому

      Thank you for your thoughts on HZ percussion, seems not the worth the price. But how do these libraries compare to 8dio's epic ensemble percussion or Heavyocity's master session libraries? I already have Damage, Action Strikes and Stormdrum 2 and 3.

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  4 роки тому +2

      @@nickpouwels7282 Heavyocity's Master Session libraries are basically re-hashes of what can be heard in Damage and the actual content you get in each volume is nowhere near the value for money it should be. 8Dio's Epic series was recorded by the Soundiron team back when they were called Tonehammer and Apocalypse Percussion is basically a re-imagining of those libraries at a drastically reduced price.

    CinePerc is probably the BEST general library around. Many composers agree. I run CinePerc, Hans Zimmer, and Damage 2 - and have everything covered I could ever dream of. All of the libraries here seem to be small/niche libraries which means you need tons of them to get the full pallet.

    Hi Cory, thanks for this video, I'm in a bit of a dilemma with which orchestral percussion to invest in. I'd love to get OT Berlin Percussion however it's a bit out of my budget, unless they do another 40% off sale. Then there's True Strike 1 which has great reviews and is very affordable, but I don't have any other products from Project Same so might not be as easy blending in with the rest of my palette. Then there's also Spitfire Percussion, not mentioned in this video, I wonder what are your thoughts on this library? It would blend a bit better with my other Spitfire libraries but I know it's also quite an old library too

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  4 роки тому +3

      Spitfire's Percussion is average. Recording percussion to tape kills the clarity of the transients. True Strike is still the best option if you don't want to spent big on OT's percussion. I find True Strike fits wherever I need it to. If the track I'm making is a little darker it's easy enough to EQ some highs out of your True Strike parts or just chuck a tape emulator on them and mix the wetness to taste. I don't think you'll be disappointed with a True Strike purchase, it's always a good investment.

    Hey Cory. Thanks so much for this excellent video! What do you think of CinePerc? I am thinking about using it as an all-rounder. Would you recommend an all-rounder or multiple more specific individual sample libraries like the ones mentioned in this video?

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  4 роки тому +2

      An all rounder is good to have - Cineperc is pretty expensive but it does have a bunch of sounds in the one place. Eventually you'll probably want something more specific for certain tasks which is where libraries like Flying Hand Percussion and DM307 come in handy. It's kind of a draw - pay $600 for Cineperc or pay $500 for True Strike, Flying Hand Percussion and Taiko Creator... It really depends on how flexible you want your selection to be.

    • @fp-music
      @fp-music 4 роки тому

      @@CoryPelizzariThanks for the reply. I would get an EDU discount on CinePerc reducing the price to $350. To me it is very attractive that the samples were all recorded in one room. That way I could avoid certain balance issues. But I guess you're right, having specific libraries that execute certain tasks very well will be more helpful in the long run.

    Those are all war percussions. Can you suggest soft percussions to use in songs?

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  4 роки тому +9

      They're not all war percussions - there's an orchestral percussion library, a hand percussion library, taikos and ensembles played with mallets and brushes.
      If you want soft percussion just play the drums at soft dynamics. If instead you're actually looking for a library that specifically focuses on percussion that's been muffled and played with soft mallets and brushes... That's not really something you'll find (perhaps we'll need to fill that gap in the market).
      For now, try using a library like Drumatic Creator (it's affordable) and apply a high cut at about 5khz, then play only soft dynamics and add a compressor to bring up the volume. Then add a transient shaper and increase the sustain - you'll get a soft sustained percussion sound.
      I should just do a video on this.

    • @ultrasonicrec
      @ultrasonicrec 4 роки тому

      @@CoryPelizzari Yes this is very missing point in the market. Available Orchestral drums are just intended to use for orchestral/cinematic instrumental.
      But we need percussions that can be used in songs. I have invested a lot of time to find one but Couldn't.
      We producers really need soft cinematic/orchestral drums to make deep songs 🙁
      For example the one Hans Zimmer used at the start of "Now we are free"

      What do you think of spitfires BBC symphony orchestra core? I’m just getting into scoring and I already have Albion one. I’m looking to upgrade my sounds and have thought about going with the entire cinematic studio line (strings, solo strings, brass, woodwinds and piano), as well as project Sam true strike. But that bbcso is tempting because it seems like an incredible value

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  3 роки тому +2

      @@johnoskam5514 Yes, it seems like incredible value, but there are three factors at play here if you're considering professional level composing. 1) The amount of instruments provided in BBCSO and the price point means that inevitably it won't have the depth of quality that individual libraries like the Cinematic Studio Series has. 2) Spitfire are known for having inconsistent quality in their sample editing, especially in the short notes (they're notorious for programming sloppy shorts and including dud samples). 3) BBCSO tends to cater for standard classical writing with quick flourishes and simply can't handle more modern styles of emotive/slow building/expressive passages.

      @@johnoskam5514 For the most part, yeah. But you have to be prepared for the learning curve that comes with playing and programming those libraries. You can take or leave the piano. Personally I've found Simple Sam's Signature Grand (with all the effects turned off in Kontakt) to be my go to nowadays. Also when it comes to an all in one orchestral package, Nucleus from Audio Imperia is one of the best you can get. Healthy range of essential ensembles and solos with high polish and smooth legatos.

    Thanks for sharing the video! Let me tell you something important:
    God loves you! God loves us !
    He is no respecter of persons! because God wants us all to be saved! and let us go to the knowledge of the "Truth"
    God wants to save us from eternal damnation,
    which we all deserve because of sin,
    Who entered the world through Adam, and through sin entered into death,
    and thus death passed to all human beings,
    therefore, we are all "Sinners"
    But God's Love was so great for us, that he sent his only Son (Jesus Christ), gave him to this world, to die and rise again for all of us! No respect of persons!
    so that everyone who believes in Jesus Christ does not go to eternal punishment, but rather has “Eternal Life! “
    Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures;
    and he was buried, and he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures
    Jesus Christ came to call sinners to “Repent! “
    and, whoever believes in Him, has “Eternal Life! “But whoever refuses to believe in Jesus Christ, the wrath of God abides on him.
    Then, as by Adam's transgression, condemnation came to all human beings, in the same way, by the justice of Jesus Christ, justification of life came to all human beings!
    for all of us who believe in “The Only Savior of the world!
    The Only Mediator between God and us! The Lord Jesus Christ! “
    All of us who trust in Him; we have “Eternal Life! “
    Let's all read the Word of God! mainly the Gospels;
    Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
    and let us pray to God, our Heavenly Father, every day…
    God loves you! God loves us! Only to Him be the Glory Forever! Amen!
