Hi everyone. A lot of you are asking about an update to this video as the tool has been updated. But I unfortunately don't have an AMD laptop where I can demonstrate it on and more importantly the new UXTU is something that I don't prefer. Infact the main feature which is the curve optimizer doesn't even work properly whereas it clearly works with the older version. I recommend you to continue using the version I showed in the video and the link to it is available in the description. Please download that and use. It's just better and more user friendly.
Thank you so much, i had difficulties downloading the latest update of this software, so i resulted in downloading the older version like you mentioned, its much easier to install and use.

Deeptesh, your content is really well made and well explained. You should have hundreds of thousands of views. Cheers from Brazil! One question though: I have a Dell G15 with a 5600h and no matter how much I try it doesn't seem to have much difference whether I use just the temp limiter or more complex methods, sometimes I get even higher Cinebench results by just limiting the temp when compared to using TDP or other methods. The clock hardly goes above 3.6Ghz (it spikes to 4.2Ghz just in the beginning of the bench). Could that be due to the poor thermals from the Dell G15? I have the 1.6 Bios and was thinking that maybe a earlier bios could have less throttling which would allow me more headroom to play with AATU. Do I have to install the "installdriver.exe" that comes inside the application folder? Also, have you checked the latest updates of the AATU (now Universal x86 Tuning Utility)? The Undervolting option seem to be usable only in the adaptative mode now.
Hi Calvin, Thanks for your comment! 5600H as far as I have seen in many laptops does not support true undervolting(curve optimiser option). But limiting the TDP or capping the thermal throttling temp definitely works and it should work for you. One thing though the 5600H does not hit 4GHz all core. It hits 4.2Ghz on a single core but all core is like 3.6-3.7Ghz. But it performs better than 4600H is because 5600H is Zen 3 and 4600H is Zen 2 and Zen 3 has better IPC than Zen 2. So I feel all is good for you - all you have to see are the temps. But I don't think there is anything wrong with your laptop and you don't have to install any other things. It all what I showed.

What's with the talk in the beginning? There is nothing wrong with buying high end gaming laptops, especially on sale. 1. You do know that manufacturers put more cooling into higher end models, right? Unless it's max q. And in reverse - low end laptops often get very weak cooling, a couple of tiny heatpipes and barely any airvents for pushing the hot air out which results in terrible temps. I've seen high end laptops being way cooler than cheaper laptops with lower and GPUs and vice versa. So it comes done to an individual laptop. 2. 3070 ti is not a "super high end" GPU, it's upper-mid range, as there are also 3080 and 3080 ti. 3070 ti on laptops is an excellent choice, as it's the smallest scam by Nvidia - its specs are the closest to its desktop version compared to other laptop GPUs which are way more cut down one way or another. 3070 ti on the other hand, only has a few % less cores and the same memory amount as the desktop 3070 ti. It's practically a desktop 3070 put in a laptop, albeit with lower power limits and clockspeeds. 3. Like with cooling, battery life depends on a specific laptop. a 3060 laptop can have terrible battery life if it has Nvidia optimus disabled and the GPU is active all the time and manufacturer didn't bother providing proper power optimizations. On the other hand, some laptops with Nvidia optimus+AMD CPUs (like 6800h), Asus ROG Strix G15 for example, can get up to 9-10 hours of watching youtube, despite a high-powered GPU. So unless you're talking about gaming on battery(which is always a terrible idea) GPU class and power has no effect on battery life.
Bro why are you getting emotional lmao. 3070ti is super high end because it draws 150W to perform at it's best. Anything that is this power demanding is high end and so that means there will be after effects. And the talk at the beginning was to explain the quirks of owning a high end gaming laptop especially to those who are buying these as first time gaming laptops. Setting expectations for them. I have a telegram group where people panick seeing high temps, so I needed to set their expectations straight. High end gaming laptops have high end cooling - But the power requirements of today's Intel CPUs plus high end RTX cards or the dense design of AMD CPUs means , the current cooling technology is simply not able to keep up with the TDP requirements unless they sound like a jet engine. So it's common to see high temperatures on laptops like even the MSI GT77 Titan with some of the most beefiest cooling. So my talk at the beginning was to set expectations and warn about the quirks of owning high end gaming laptops and what they should do to mitigate the usual issues with such machines. Your long comment has nothing to do with what I said at the beginning.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH yes, and there are higher end 3080 and 3080 ti which draw up to 175 watts. So 3070 ti is not "super high end". 3070 ti in my friend's Legion 5 pro is actually *cooler* than my other friend's desktop RTX 2070. Yeah, in max performance, 150w mode. "the current cooling technology is simply not able to keep up with the TDP requirements" which is why power limits are set accordingly to a laptop's cooling by a laptop manufacturer. The reason I got "emotional" is because it looks like you're talking people out of buying higher end laptops because of high temps, but the truth is - it depends on a laptop. I've seen low end laptops overheating like heck, simply because the manufacturer saved too much on cooling. You're right about noise though - they are generally louder, not by much though. Legion 5 pro is able to push twice as much heat out of itself compared to my Dell G3 while being quieter. As for CPUs - mid range i7 12700h can draw up to 150-160 watts in max load. So getting a higher end i9 12900HX for example wouldn't exactly be much different - again it would be about power limits set by the manufacturer. "Your long comment has nothing to do with what I said at the beginning." I directly respond to the points you make in the beginning, so it has everything to do with it. People need to watch reviews, not avoid high end laptops. And the point about battery life is objectively wrong, as GPU class has nothing to do with battery life because discrete graphics is completely off in Optimus mode and consumes no power. Anyway, aside from that - good video, I'm glad when people push undervolting to the masses.
I´ve just discovered this app thanks to your video, but i´ve been undervolting for ages. There is no way -35 in all cores is stable! Maybe for a few games, but you will have random crashes and corruption in the long term. You should test core per core with OCCT, it´s free and easy to use, it even tells you which core failed. Nice video nonetheless!
Hi, great video! I have a question, my laptop has this software called Lenovo Vantage and it has 3 profiles: eco, smart and max performance. Should I uninstall it? Is it possible that it interferes with my configurations in this tuning Utility? Thanks
Why don't you just use Lenovo Vantage and use the mode that allows you to choose TDP manually? Choose various TDPs do your tests to find the best balance of thermals and performance.
How old is your lenovo? For the past 2-3 years lenovo went full China and their products suck. The firmware they use, the mobo, and software are all proprietary and lock you out of most setting. No chance of changing really anything you want. This program, Intel xtu, throttlestop, the firmware overrides anything you really try. I have friends with new legion towers and laptops and we've called so many times and put in so many tickets and they just won't unlock the settings you need to really fine tune the system. Hell some lenovo legions you can't even really properly set fan speeds....
You need vantage to enable smart charging which cap your battery at 80%. I definitely would not recommended keeping the battery at full juice all the time especially when you do heavy task and the device heats up. Would recommend keeping it at intelligent cooling and disable its autostart.
@@DeepteshLovesTECHthank you, then if i understood correctly, i set my 54 watts, then i set temperatures limits like 70C, and then undervolting. You mean baseline like stock base clocks of cpu?
Undervolting and tdp limit are 2 separate things. Undervolting tries to allow cpu to run the same freq with lower power draw. Tdp limit caps max power drawn by cpu
Bro which is better under 80k? Asus Tuf Dash F15 or Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3i or Acer Nitro 5 (either with R5 7535HS or i5 12500H) College use could be rough but not sure I want to see a 2nd best option after MSI Alpha 15
Excellent video, actually the best I could find on this topic. Still a bit confused cuz I have 6800h and they say on uxtu discord that you can't undervolt it. What would you suggest for this cpu ?
Yes you cannot undervolt it. Only R9 models can be undervolted as far as I understand. For you the best course of action is to simply put a temperature cap of your choice and your CPU will behave accordingly to maintain that.
In this video are you talking about integrated AMD graphics or dedicated? I have the 7840u Ryzen 7, with no dedicated graphics and want to lower my temps without sacrificing performance much.
Question! The ryzen 7945hx is a so-called dragon range cpu meaning it is meant to run hot (anywhere from 90C-100) in order to sustain the highest possible clockspeed over long time (the intel ones can only do short boosts with the high clockspeeds). Does this mean if I understand it correctly,, that if I do this to the 7945hx (undervolt), then I will get less performance because the cpu is not working at those temps?
Yes DragonRange and all other AMD laptop CPUs are built for 95C sustained.. some brands push it to 100C. But AMD CPUs retain 95% of the performance even if you drop the power to half! 7945HX at 65W = 90% of the performance of 7945HX at 127W. But anyways what you are doing is proper undervolting using "Curve Optimiser" option. This will lower power draw, temps and increase performance. Start with -10, then -15 and so on to see how far you can push it.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH I see, then the only one problem remains. The program you are using has been collaberated with other programs to become the newly released "universal x86" and the homepage states that Dragonrange cpus are NOT supported at the moment. Do you know if the dragonrange cpu work on the program showncase in this video? PS: I have ordered a new laptop (4090 with 7945hx) and I wont get it until 1-2 weeks
@@DeepteshLovesTECH weird, I installed cinebench and x86 just before the eastern vacation (didnt bring the laptop with me) and I simply couldnt get it to work, used hwinfo64 program and regardless of what I adjusted, nothing changed, not the tdp, the temps, the clock speeds, nothing. Oh well, I will give it another go when I get back, maybe try installing x86 through your link.
Sure man whatever works. But in my method we don't lose CPU performance. Instead we increase it without increasing temps. But I don't think all laptops accept the undervolting.
So even if I have it in autostart I have to select a profile and apply every time I start the system? There is no possibility to autostart it minimized and have the last used profile applied by default?
I have a lenovo legion pro 5 gen 8 Ry 7745xh/rtx 4070 and cannot find an undervolt tutorial that works with ryzenn 7745 dragon range cpus atm. is there a way using the lenovo bios or vantage to undervolt my cpu as all ryzen programs and undervolts listed arent compatible with 7745xh
which curve optimizer? AATU wont recognize the cpu and the AMD programs like ryzen master also wont load for the cpu. So Im not sure what would be suggested?. Lenovo BIOS has very very minimal options and the only other thing would be a custom profile in Vantage.@@DeepteshLovesTECH
cold you do one tutorial with the update? I cant use this one. I have Mechrevo dragon 16k r7 7735hs 4060 140w and the temperatures from cpu are pretty high like 90-99 centigrades on god of war for example. I got down these temperatures with the new update on "adaptative mode" but i want to do it in general modes. Thanks
hey thanks a lot for your veido it was very informational but you didn't quite explain how to do custom undervolting. you did better explaining GPU undervoltiong in your other video, so I wanted to ask can you make a video or short on how to exactly undervolt using Universal app for AMD?
@@DeepteshLovesTECH no I watched the whole video but this one did no specify how to test and manually undervolt exactly like the GPU video but no worries thx for help
Great video man, I have a lenovo legion 5 with amd 5600h and I put a limit on 45w with -10. And doing the test with cinebench and cpu-z it works, I mean from 100°c no is 85°c but when playing sometimes the temperature reaches 100° even with the temp limit set on 95°. Do u know why this happen?
@@CubikingFBGaming Hey, I was testing and didn't notice any difference putting -20 and 0, so I think it doesn't. But lowering the tdp to 40 (like the guy does in the video with 47) you can drop temps from 100 to 90 (I'm using not top quality thermal paste tho). You lose some perfomance, but it's worth it Imo.
I have a RTX 3050 and Ryzen 5-5600H laptop (Acer Nitro), after watching many vids and tutorials and reading forums/reddit, I realized that Undervolting has been locked on both CPU and GPU. Is it even possible to undervolt nowadays?
Hello. I have Ryzen 7 7735HS on the Asus TUF A15. I have followed your guide and already on -50 at the curve optimizer settings, still no bluescreen however I am still capped at 95C on Cinebench. Is there a way to keep it below 90C?
Then it's not working for you. The other way is to go to the custom preset section and apply a CPU temp cap like I have shown in the video. Apply 85C or 90C, whatever is your choice.
@@kcdg017 I think laptops with their own command centers like Armory Crate/Omen command centers etc etc clash with Ryzen controller/AATU. Just a theory. If nothing works for you.. go to Armory Crate, CPU -> Manual Mode. Set all the CPU TDP options to 35W or 30W..
Hello.
Anyway, aside from that - good video, I'm glad when people push undervolting to the masses.
finally found this video.
do you prefer the new intel hx cpus or the new ryzen 7 cpus?
So setting up temp and power limits works great with this tool, the undervolting sadly doesnt work at all on my ideapad 5 14alc05 with 5700U

Same here, Ideapad 3 with Ryzen 7 5700u, curve optimizer does nothing
Anyone here with a Ryzen 6800h? Wich configuration did you apply? Mine with 45w and -10mv crashs all the time.
As far as I know the 6800H cannot be undervolted.
@@DeepteshLovesTECHwhat about 7840h?
I´ve just discovered this app thanks to your video, but i´ve been undervolting for ages. There is no way -35 in all cores is stable! Maybe for a few games, but you will have random crashes and corruption in the long term. You should test core per core with OCCT, it´s free and easy to use, it even tells you which core failed. Nice video nonetheless!
I have had a couple crashes in Cinebench R23 10 mins, some time after this video..but not in games. Yea -35 is over ambitious.
hello, can you do an update with the last version please ? thank you very much
How to undervolt MSI bravo 5600h 5500m laptop? do we want to enable cpu unlocking in the BIOS?
@@Taithland Its an IdeaPad 5 Flex with the 7730u CPU launched in January 2023
You need vantage to enable smart charging which cap your battery at 80%. I definitely would not recommended keeping the battery at full juice all the time especially when you do heavy task and the device heats up. Would recommend keeping it at intelligent cooling and disable its autostart.
Thanks for this brother .

dont understand, if i limit with 30 watts i can undervolt or not ? or undervolting need to do with full limit of power ?
You can set any max TDP + undervolt.
So 55W + undervolt or 45W + undervolt etc.
55W was set to get the baseline.
@@CubikingFBGaming Thank you

Excellent video, actually the best I could find on this topic. Still a bit confused cuz I have 6800h and they say on uxtu discord that you can't undervolt it. What would you suggest for this cpu ?
Yes you cannot undervolt it.
Only R9 models can be undervolted as far as I understand.
For you the best course of action is to simply put a temperature cap of your choice and your CPU will behave accordingly to maintain that.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH thanks a lot 🙏
Hey there, thanks for the thorough explanation. Any idea if that will work with an 7840u, specifically in a Lenovo P14s GEN 4?
Except curve optimizer option that I showed at the end, rest all will work.
In this video are you talking about integrated AMD graphics or dedicated? I have the 7840u Ryzen 7, with no dedicated graphics and want to lower my temps without sacrificing performance much.
I'm talking about the CPU, not the GPU. The whole video I talk about the CPU temps.
@@joffy9373Yes the version I showed here supports Dragon range. I have linked the version I used in the video. Check the description.
Oh well, I will give it another go when I get back, maybe try installing x86 through your link.
can this help with power throttles? Like while gaming my gpu seems to drop usage and cpu goes 100% as if my game is running on battery
Awesome video as always !
I controlled the temps using ryzen controller, how does that compare to this AATU.
P.S. - Bought the omen 16 in the sale
Same options are there. Right now what is working for you.. continue with that.
But ryzen controller is discontinued.
Ryzen Controller basically limit the temps and underclocking, not undervolting. It actually will affect performance.
I used g-helper to lower the watts of the cpu and turned off turbo boost seems easier
Yes you can setup the presets to be auto-applied on battery or on power.
Is this an official utility? Or like ryzen controller?
There is no official utility. This is closer though. It's a mini version of Ryzen master.
Is curve optimizer not working for the 7745HX?
which curve optimizer? AATU wont recognize the cpu and the AMD programs like ryzen master also wont load for the cpu. So Im not sure what would be suggested?. Lenovo BIOS has very very minimal options and the only other thing would be a custom profile in Vantage.@@DeepteshLovesTECH
Bro even after undervolting to -30 in all cores while gaming temps still hits 95 degrees in my msi bravo 15 ryzen 5 5600h

I don't understand i need to create and use game present setting and then undervolt? Or use them like two different presets?
Presets remembers what you have customised. Presets offered by default has nothing to do with undervolting.
When you make further changes to a default preset, you are just making a new preset.

Hi
May I know cpu undervolting/curve optimiser option works for 5600H?
@@CubikingFBGaming Hey, I was testing and didn't notice any difference putting -20 and 0, so I think it doesn't. But lowering the tdp to 40 (like the guy does in the video with 47) you can drop temps from 100 to 90 (I'm using not top quality thermal paste tho). You lose some perfomance, but it's worth it Imo.

Then it's not working for you. The other way is to go to the custom preset section and apply a CPU temp cap like I have shown in the video. Apply 85C or 90C, whatever is your choice.
