"There is nothing the busy man is less busied with than living: there is nothing that is harder to learn. […] They lose the day in expectation of the night, and the night in fear of the dawn. […] By great toil they attain what they wish, and with anxiety hold what they have attained; meanwhile they take no account of time that will never more return. […] Reasons for anxiety will never be lacking, whether born of prosperity or of wretchedness. […] The condition of all who are preoccupied is wretched, but most wretched is the condition of those who labour at preoccupations that are not even their own, who regulate their sleep by that of another, their walk by the pace of another […]. If these wish to know how short their life is, let them reflect how small a part of it is their own. […] It’s not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it.”

I have always wondered why people(including me) often fall prey to the societal norms of living life. Often we forget that following those norms , is living someone else's life. With every passing day I am trying to break free of these shackles. There seem to be a small minority of humans who truly understand the shortness of life and are willing to do everything possible to attain peace. I strongly feel you are amongst these elite humans .

Hi Avhirup, yes, I think most people probably feel that they would like to live differently but are afraid of what they might lose if they make a change. But I think appreciating the brevity of life can help us to be a little braver as we can see more clearly that time is much more valuable than anything else.
