"Universal Studios Logo" - Brian Tyler (retrospective)

- Arranging and conducting the Universal Studios logo music was one of the true honors of my life and it continues to make me smile every time I watch a Universal movie and hear it once again. I can never thank Mike Knobloch and Donna Langley from Universal Pictures enough for entrusting me with this incredible task 8 years ago. And seeing all these amazing musicians and singers making a beautiful sound has me missing the communal experience of recording in a room together. We will all be back, until then much love to everyone ❤️❤️ #briantyler #conducting #orchestra
Think of the orchestra as well. Can you imagine going to the cinema and hearing this and be like "Yeah I played the tuba for that"
Imagine what Wayne Bergeron thinks when he’s watching any Disney movie
@@LandDie 😂😂
Also think every voice actors watch the movie and be like" Yeah thats my voice"
TheGreatestDuck orchestra directors never let the wrong note get through thankfully😂
HECK YEAH since I play tuba!!
Imagine how many times this music is played in a day around the world
yes, same as other popular music.
Probably 0 during corona time 😭
@@EnzoDigaspero Peak season actually.
Shahid mangalore I can tell ya. No. It’s not 😭
ED. You ever hear of dvds or I don’t know... EVERY STREAMING SERVICE
And now due to the reduce in pollution we can actually see the universal logo in the sky. Good times
"Did anybody else see those big letters flying by?"

you're so funny omg omg omg... noone ever heard that before
@@SandroGarcia96 wow you must be a real fun person
Oh no hearing this makes me feel like I am going to watch a blockbuster but there is none right now.
So go backwards and see the ones you skipped!
i need recommendations :DDD
@@palasthazhorif8676 it has absolutely no bearing on Universal, but I'm gonna see Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets right now. It looks incredible.
That's what they think when they play it 🤷🏻♂️
:(
Am I the only one that didn’t know there was a full sized choir/chorus in the tune?
edit: choir -> choir/chorus
lol, i wonder if they added the chorus (not choir) in this later verison
Marcos Merodio yeah I had no idea
now i cant unhear
wow it took you that long.
Nope I didn’t know that either
Everybody gangster ‘till universal intro goes for longer than 12 seconds
I don't get the reference, but want to know!

No wonder the sound was so rich and deep. It was played by a group of, maybe hundreds of people. AWESOME!!
You should be proud we listening to this every day
It’s the only enjoyment i get when i put on Minions film for my sis.
@@JeremyBX HAHAHHA
Me when I see the Universal logo: *Oh, man. This movie about to be fucking lit!!!*
Me when I see the Illumination logo and hear a squeaky toy: *Oh...I just remembered I’m watching Pets 2*
I Love This Logo. I Listen To It Every Day.
Every human and animal can probably hum to this with perfection.
Even minions
xD

A whole orchestra
Hands down, my absolute favourite studio intro
I went to universal studios hollywood back in 2012 and one of the attractions played this. They played it really loud and it sounded incredible. It was my first time seeing and hearing it. It was the highlight of the trip for me
NathansVideos46 Same here
Now we have 700$ apple wheels
awesome man! makes the atmosphere feel BIG.
@@kshitijdutt8000 how does it has any relation to what Nathan said

0:09 that choir gives me goosebumps
Me too
Having this tune in the beginning definitely indicates that the quality of the movie is gonna be outstandingly fantastic
No to be confused, The Fanfare was originally composed by Jerry Goldsmith in 1997.
Upside Down let’s not forget that. That is my favorite film fanfare; so I’m glad they kept his original idea and only tweaked it.
The first movie to feature it was I think The Lost World
I knew Tyler didn't compose the fanfare, but I didn't know Goldsmith actually composed it. That's pretty cool!
@@TBStudios91 You’re right👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Imagine if one of those letters destroy the ISS.
Indeed.. words are truly the most powerful weapon 😆
Lmao
What if it fell down to earth
"were to destroy"
So what part did you have
I was the BUM BUM guy
Oh, cool
Lol first like.
Road to 10k :-)
That's the best part, it's so iconic!
his hand movements and the music is like matching up a spastic cat to accordion music
This soundtrack is like an appetizer before the main course! In this case, action movie!
I can't even watch this without thinking about the minions singing this. No, seriously. They really did that.
*Awesome version, Brian! WELL DONE; 5 stars and beyond!* 🎶🤘🌞🏆🎶
I never thought about the logo music being composed. I always just assumed it was like a musical gift from god.
Nothing will beat the flute player attempting 20th Centuries theme :3
Wow we love tyler
I always feel like I have to stand up at the cinema when this comes on
Still absolutly increadible. very good intro song!
Can you imagine watching a movie and each time being able to say, “That’s me!”
Cool cool cool.
The best intro for films
*20th Century Fox:* "Hold my beer"
and John Williams lined up Star with the Logo for 20th century Fox
Nah. Universal theme is better. The 20th Century one sounds more like old Hollywood.
And the two versions of 20th Century Fox: The original, shorter one, and the longer one which is properly referred to as "The Cinemascope Extension". I agree with Rylan that Fox's logo is more 'Old Hollywood" stylized, which is what makes it so great . Universal's logo has always been changed many times, reflecting the actual era of its' films. See the opening logo on "Xanadu" to see all of the variations up to the 80's, including the unique one that I have only seen on "Xanadu".
Got to be one of the greatest honours in film music!!
no cap
I can’t wait for the longer upgrade in a few decades
Im having a goose bumps...
Exhilarating! That’s satisfyingly good!
One word for this "clean"
Back to the Future Fanfare music with by Brian Tyler
Thank you for respect the Original and making it even better! :)
woo hoo! I'm glad they brought you on board for this! you have elevated the original into the modern age of movies!
It's amazing Hollywood are sooo much experience of this
drugs much?
Les frissons !
I remember watching a longer version of this, but can't find it now.
I wish the full theme would play before each movie. Be proud and bold: universal, creator of the ducu
I wish they would play nothing. The theme adds nothing to the art.
@@guitarslim56 yeah it does. It makes you feel you are at the movies. Pavlov’s dogs and all that
i'm so emotional because it's real.
Love you Brian....
You know that you're gonna watch awesome movies if they are started this way.
Fun fact!
This video has the proof that the Universal 2012 prototype logo exists!
This is honestly my favorite version of the logo instrumental
Imagine actually hearing the ,,Ok, let's roll it" every time the scene gets played. 😂
It would be Epic 😂
it's strange feeling, we usually perceived the universal opening (visually) and now we seeing people played it. cool but strange
I like the old intro better (without the ascending bass line).
That song gives me chills...but that 100th anniversary version 🔥🔥🔥
00:15 Gives me chills every time
He's great, he's staggering, he's spectacular ,he's awesome ,he's...
No words.
How about crediting Jerry Goldsmith? THE creator for the theme?
Because this is not a video about the composition.
This is the most charming conductor I have seen, no one . also it's huge honour to me !
Very good !!!
Man I wonder what it’s like being an actor and being part of movie history
It's nice. You don't have to pay for parking.
My favourite Universal theme by a country mile!
It's perfect i liked
A huge honor ... to conduct it. So? ... who wrote it? Composers never get their deserved credit ...
Yes they do. They receive checks.
@@guitarslim56 That is not credit. That is compensation.
youre just AMAZING
THANKYOU MAN YOU MADE A MASTERPIECE ❤👏👏👏👏
His career high in 1999 was composing for the Dennis Rodman and Dane Cook action movie SIMON SEZ.
Dude's come a long way!
Had the conductor said "Wingardium Leviosa", the players would have been flying
Not true. Nobody knows what that means.
How are they going to make an even more epic version at the next anniversary? This can't be topped that easy.
Congratulations Brian. What an honour to be so ingrained in the tapestry of this business we call show.
his music for f1 is just faya🔥
0:08 That`s my favourite part in that intro, and the whole intro is one of the best in my opinion.
Hello Mr Tyler, will you ever come back to make video game soundtracks like far cry 3 and assassin's creed 4 black flag? I loved the soundtrack from those titles.
The titanic effort that used to be put into entertaining people has been replaced by TikToks.
@Airbus A380 screen-time which used to be dominated by movies and tv has for 99% been replaced by smartphones and pop-culture apps. I'm nostalgic but yet realistic to the transition.
@Airbus A380 haha don't be the last silent film actor when everyone has gone on to talkies...
@Airbus A380 pushed viewers onto the platforms away from the cinemas thats for sure! Not a film coming out in cinema this year! Why the hostility to me personally? :(
Jerry Goldsmith!💐
Universal has the best logo and the best music, excellent design work, the lyrics are impressive when they appear and the music is spectacular, great direction.
La mejor pu*!!#@ intro del cine señores.. que alguien me diga lo contrario le mando a la motico 😌😁
Now I wonder how that minions version was made
I get teary eyes when I hear that theme song.it’s so iconic
I want a 3 Minute Version of that. Not a loop, but like the Thing in the end. A version like that, but still recognizable
Second time they're just showing off.
I love this music because I feel like I’m about to watch an awesome movie
Composer dude looks like Rick Grimes
It's so weird seeing this composed. You get used to it so much that it sounds like they just took a radom video of a ochestra and just edited the audio of the logo in
alright, fellas. great work, all we gotta do is put some bass-boost to it. 👏👏
If I hear the longer epic version, I will be like, “This movie better be good or I will call BT for my money back!”
I didn't know Brian Tyler composed the Universal Pictures anthem. I barely knew him cause of F1
He didn’t.
Saw this in London back in 2018 (at least I'm pretty sure you played this)! Hope one day to get my chance to write for film as well.
Todo un espectáculo musical para mostrar una falsa Tierra giratoria 😉🙄😅
Minions : Pa pa pa pa pa pa pa pa....
There's probably more pressure on this than most creations, considering this will be heard before every Universal movie from like 2012 on out and it's also supposed to follow the iconic tune that went before it. - It might not be that difficult, but ya gotta do it and get it right.
Sad on the occasions when the Universal logo and theme turns out to be the highlight of the movie and it's all downhill from there. Maybe they need to make a dinky version played on a comb kazoo for those occasions. Possibly with an added yodeler.
This song is better than 90% of the songs produced
Omg that my favorite song of intro universal
It’s often hard to forget how many people are involved in producing music pieces like this
For you, but not for me.
You did a great job conducting this. Well done.
Universal Pictures (2012) music by Alan Silvestri
Is that a 2012 Universal logo prototype?
Is it me or it feels like with every new decade that goes by the studios try to ramp up their logo wars?
Every once in a while there's a different/remastered music, different intros and whatnot.
0:01 0:02 Universal Fanfare
it's just a cheap pompous fake to which you can't even say whether it's music
Man... seeing Jim Thatcher and the late Brian O'Connor in the horn section there at 0:21... Legends...
How cool would it be if the theme was different for certain movies where if the movie was really huge it would play like the last version!
Imagine being nearby and hearing that and thinking damn I wonder what movie they're watching 😹
