    Love how they just kept the overbank curve even though they're not using it anymore

      Honestly I think it's funny as a little psych out

      Ads to the fear factor seeing a unattached track

      Honestly that just makes me sad I’ll never get to do it with the overbank

    I hope they keep that overbank curve. That's just sick. And I really appreciate Dollywood's desire to ensure the ride remains comfortable for people. I rode the old Mystery Mine and that vertical drop into the overbank was insanely uncomfortable.

    its more intense than it seems

    I remember when I rode on this coaster. For me, it’s scary because of both the actual roller coaster the story behind it. To be in an abandoned, presumably haunted, mine from the 1900s and having the canary die while you’re inside is just wild to think about. I legit cowered in fear when the sign fell onto the exit because I thought debris would fall onto my head.

    Definitely a smoother experience overall, just rode it today. Still my favorite ride in the park.

    Tbh, I closed my eyes for this ride bc I was very scared, because I was 10 years old ( I’m older now ) and it’s nice to see the POV of it

    If anyone is curious why they removed the overbank is cause it was uncomfortable and put a lot of stress on the track, if they didn’t find a way to fix it mystery mine would be shut down.

    Just rode it twice today and I’m not sure exactly what part it was it may have been around 0:25 but it’s makes my head bag from side to side but I thought it was kind of funny when it happened. I love the part where the fire shoots out and then it’s a huge drop in the pitch black. Had a blast and got to ride a bunch of the other rides too.

      mhm this ride has always had that its something in the brakes I think

  • @Calakapepe
    @Calakapepe 3 роки тому +8

    12 years and THEN they decide to axe a part of the ride that wasn't even the biggest culprit of the headbanging XD
    The curvy bunny hills before & the turn after the MCBR are where I got the most banging

    The change to this ride Might have had something to do with the injury of a park guest in the summer of 2019 when a part of the old overpass I believe a chain fell and hit a passerby this probably is the main reason but is definitely one reason to change it since the old overpass was made of wood and was replaced by a metal support beams

    • @ItsDannyRobbins
      @ItsDannyRobbins Рік тому +1

      This is inaccurate. The theming on the trestle that gave the appearance of broken beams before was completely extra, and the metal frame you see it supported by in this clip was always there. They removed the theming elements after that incident with the decor coming loose, but the trestle was never actually made of wood.
      The change in the layout to exclude the horseshoe turn was done to minimize stress and maintenance on the ride vehicles, as well as remedy the segment of the ride gp guests complained about the most.

      The old section was a huge whiplash moment but the real reason they took it out was because the tight transitions where causing damage to the track and car assembly

    • @lyrafay279
      @lyrafay279 3 роки тому +5

      The old one was super cool but this one feels better just because they kept the old track part and it scares people and when ur turning it feels like ur not going to

    I went on vacation to Tennessee and visited Dollywood and I had a blast I also rode this ride but heres a quick warning if you are planning to go... ⚠️In video it msy not look scary but in real life when i rode it... It was TERRIFYING absolutely TERRIFYING it goes SOOOO FREAKING FAST!⚠️ I love this ride! Go in it if you have the courage to… the drops are insane

  • @teddym2808
    @teddym2808 3 роки тому +5

    Way to go Dollywood.. instead of putting the latest Euro Fighter trains with lap bars, you neuter the whole ride. It was never supposed to be a family ride.

    honestly the new edited section has no character, G's, or an eycatcher moment, semms redundant. don't know why they didn't put in more ideas into that part

      You and I feel the same way. It was an okay ride, but the new turnaround is so docile and lame. Surely they could've made a more exciting turn.

    • @mr.noride7226
      @mr.noride7226 2 роки тому +1

      Instead of taking out the steep drop and overbanked turn, they should have just installed LAPBARS and the head banging would be gone.

    • @cup_and_cone
      @cup_and_cone 2 роки тому

      @@mr.noride7226 Lapbars would be good, but that would require new cars (no way to retrofit them), which I doubt Dollywood would want to buy. That ride has like 8 cars they'd have to buy. And after the Free Fall incident with Gerstlauer, I doubt they would want even less restriction.
