"I hope you had a good time, I had mine. If I were you I'd see a doctor in good time" How could you not love a guy who writes a lyric like that? Harry was so witty and such a great singer songwriter. RIP Schmilsson.
What a beautiful piece of Harry's story. I enjoyed every raspy second... Then I put on Aerial Ballet to hear what and absolute gift he had. Love you, Harry. I miss you brother.
Harry Nilsson was an American Treasure. I always cherish anything I hear from him. Anyone who says he lost it at the end is wrong wrong wrong. These final recordings bring both laughs and tears. Gawd bless ya Harry. I'm sure your the life of the party whereever you are.
I kind of wonder about that life of the party personality, I feel this is part of what beought him to a shortened life. I wish he hadn't left us so soon. Oh Harry we all miss you so much. ❤️

I’m so glad this is here. Harry is the best. To have access to this album is wonderful I can’t thank you enough. So glad to hear these songs Harry was working on up to his unfortunate early passing. The only song on Losst and Founnd is Lost and Found. I prefer these unpolished versions of these unreleased tracks to the Losst and Founnd album.
Well, I had to wait about 4 years but at least I got my question answered - Mark Hudson did a terrific job following through with Harry's production notes and releasing "Losst & Founnd" (2019 Omnivore Records) - and yes, Hudson pulls off the sensitive task of presenting Harry in the best way - there is some clean up on the vocals, some correction in the pacing, added punch to the overall production, but it's nonetheless Harry! The wait has been long, perhaps too long and possibly a detriment to the album's exposure - as if it wasn't difficult enough to get and hold anyone's attention in this present day mess we're in. It would've also been nice if the release of this album coincided with Harry's induction into the Hall Of Fame (which never happened) but I digress - this is still very much a special gift not to be taken for granted! Will there be a Losst 2? There's certainly more material, but enough for another album? Time will tell... let's just hope we don't have to wait another 25 years to find out...
I'm glad that it came out, and I'm glad it was done, but I have to say that some of the production on Losst was APPALLINGLY BAD. Maybe the producer did the best he could, but the title track has some of the most amateurish cuts (Losst: 1:27'ish) that I've ever heard.... …. and I wouldn't care, but for the fact it was a cobbled together as some sort of ham-fisted "political" track. For all of the editing done, who knows what Harry even meant to say. (For what it's worth, I think he'd have agreed with the sentiment expressed in the finished track, Losst and Founnd. I just don't think it's well put-together, and I don't think we should count it as something Harry said.) It's an authorized remix, no better or worse.
Adam Hammack I personally would’ve liked if the album was titled “Papa’s Got A Brown New Robe” (which I understand might’ve been the working title?) but the fact that it ended up being “Lost and Found” certainly works as well - although not one of my favorite tracks musically (it tends to sound dated - reminds me a bit of Neil Diamond’s “Coming To America”) lyrically it does seem ironically “contemporary “ - coincidentally or by design is a moot point - it fits because, well, it fits!
Thanks for posting this. I was surprised how good it is. Thinking about all the hardships he was facing while making this album like his health problems and having literally all his savings stolen from him makes me respect him even more.
Wikipedia discusses this. Basically his financial advisor embezzled from him and she hid how bad off he was. For example, she would remove foreclosure notices from his house. Nilsson said in court that he went to bed thinking he was worth $5 million and woke up the next day with $300 in checking.
Listening to "Try, Try, Try" as I type this. Hot Damn, thank you so much for making this available! Harry is my absolute hands down favorite ... whatever that means ... but I truly mean it.
So how come no one other than Timberbanktunes has managed to figure out a way to make Harry's final recordings available to those of us who've wanted to listen for YEARS?!? It's not like we've not been standing around with fists full of money waiting to pay anyone for the privilege...... Well, the hell with 'em all and thank you Timberbanktunes!
I heard this yesterday (2019dec13) on SiriusXM's Beatles channel (ch18). I don't know where they found out about it -- and it took me several listens to figure out why they played it on that channel.
The final album was actually released on November 22, 2019, under the title "Losst And Found," on the Omnivore Recordings label. You can find the official copy here: www.amazon.com/Losst-Founnd-Harry-Nilsson/dp/B07Y4MRQXW The final album is more polished than this, but it's a completely different set of songs, except for 'Lost and Found' and this is actually a wonderful complement to this one.
Thanks for sharing this, it is so fascinating to hear how many ways of expressing himself Harry had in his music, this album touchs me in a very specific way, what a world...
Thank you. This is great to hear. Puts Flash Harry into perspective in a way - that didn't feel like a final statement. Well, I Don't Need You did, but it was a cover (albeit a fab cover!). Nilsson never lost his voice or ability to emote.
Been waiting to hear this for many years thanks for posting. These songs have great melodies and clever lyrics like all of his songs. Some occasional moments of his vocal ability but man, why did God take one of the greatest voices of all time. I would put his voice up against anyone.
This is the album I've been waiting for since Son of Schmilsson. I thought his songwriting abilities went into decline after that, except for a few songs. These are wonderful. Thanks you so much for posting. If Mark Hudson's tapes are anything like this, I wish he'd release them. That goes for the demos on your shelf too. Keep us in the loop!
So good to know someone else appreciates Son of Schmilsson, my absolute favourite from Harry and in my Top 10 all time favourite albums by anyone. Such a fun album.
Nilsson did sing Newman. ..and the influence particularly in lullaby is there for everyone to see...Harry looked and listened to many artist's work and where some of them walked with their readings.. Harry simply ran....
The reason for Harry sounding off , sounding different on these recordings is not because of his problems with drink or his health , he damaged his vocal chords recording the John Lennon joint venture "Pussy Cats ", Harry's voice was never the same after that . He was John lemons favourite singer , Paul McCartney said in the same interview , when asked who his favourite group was , "Nilsson " , McCartney said , ha. But it's unfortunate that John Lennon had an admittedly unknowing role in ruining one of the greatest voices , ever, in the history of the music business . God rest , Harry and God bless , we'll never see your like again .
Same Harry Nilsson humor. "245 lb Man" is brilliant with its accordion, harmonica or calliope playing in carnival style. Harry singing like he was portly...it's charming in a sad way. Back in the 70's Harry would have garnered air time with this -- because back then even radio had a sense of humor. "Woman O Woman," is excellent too. Typical Nilsson creativity with his songwriting and vocal expertise. While his voice may have diminished through the years because of his alcohol intake -- Harry's songwriting abilities never suffered. His melodic sense was fine tuned, his lyrics were biting. Many of these songs have wonderful potential....even today. I wish Tom Waits would cover "It's All In the Mind," -- it would be perfect for him. An album like this is a gold mine for a singer who doesn't write his/her own material but today's artists are too vain to do that. Everyone thinks they can write their own songs....how wrong can they be?
Yep. Same irreverent Harry. Third sentence ur comment 👍 No telling where this album could have gone if he'd collaborated with Richard Perry again. Though the vocals in this wouldn't be quite the same.

I've been a Nilsson fan since '71, few voices are in his class, he'd have made a contribution to a Beatles reunion, he recorded with all but Paul. RIP.
kocham go. Dlaczego tak mało ludzi go słucha? Dlaczego jest tak mało wejść na ten album? Dlaczego Harry Nilsson ma tak mało wejść, odsłon, kliknięć? Ja, kobieta, uwielbiam go słuchać nawet cały dzień. Absolutnie nie nudzi się. Jest mistrzem w dźwiękach. Każdy utwór ciekawy. Gdy jęczy, sapie, grymasi, stęka, cmoka, piszczy, to wszystko ma smak, pobudza wyobraźnię. Fantastyczny Harry Nilsson. Nie wierzę, że taki artysta już nie żyje. / I love him. Why are so few people listening to him? Why are there so few entries on this album? Why does Harry Nilsson have so few hits, hits, clicks? I, a woman, love to listen to him all day. Absolutely not bored. He is a master in sounds. Every song is interesting. When he moans, wheezes, fussy, groans, cmoka, squeaks, it all has a taste, stimulates the imagination. Fantastic Harry Nilsson. I do not believe that such an artist is dead.
These are brilliant songs, just like the rest of Harry Nilsson's catalog. Whoever wants to say his voice sounds great is very kind, but the poor guy beat the crap out of it! The crazy thing is that he was so good that no one else could have pulled off these songs because he was such a unique singer. The problem is that just as you don't internally see yourself aging Harry wrote these songs for his voice when he was young and healthy. He sadly didn't have that youthful voice in these recordings. They are great songs, though.
+weaktearecords I think it fits his legacy stylistically, and I enjoy listening to this album a lot, not just the lyrics, but the way his voice sounds here. I actually really like it. I see what you mean though but I just think his voice fits here more sensitive to the state of his life/body at that Point in his life.
I'm with you, max. While, medically speaking, he really damaged his voice, and while it lost much of that sweet youthful quality that drew so many of us in in the first place, this later voice is so raw and authentic that it breaks the heart in a way that the sweet voice never could.
I've got all his early stuff on vinyl. Don't know why, or how, I lost touch with him (probably concentrating on Scott Walker), and it was years after his death that I learned that he'd died. I'm the sort of person who's more interested in a person's music and not interested in their private life, so I didn't know this late stuff existed. Being so used to his beautiful clear enunciation on the early stuff it comes as a sad shock to hear him slurring through what would otherwise be beautiful songs.
That is the truth. Mark Hudson is in possession of many of Harry Nilsson's unreleased material. The problem was all of the legal squabbles between various family members and Sony Music who purchased RCA Records. Some of the tunes here can be found on a release of Harry's songs on an album called "Lossed And Founnd" which was compiled and produced by Mark Hudson and released in 2019. It is on the Omnivore label and the production is fairly raw, but it may have been intended that way to give it that bootleg feel that for some reason seems popular. I bought it and enjoyed the original material but to be honest I would prefer richer production values because Harry was a stickler for high quality production and that is likely what caught the attention of the Beatles.
@@justiceforall6412 The funny thing is I can't even remember how I came across the information of its existence, just that when I saw it, I knew I had to own it and ordered it immediately. I know it wasn't Amazon, but I found it on Amazon later, where they have both the CD and the vinyl. I originally bought the CD, but I purchased the vinyl later from Amazon. I have not yet put it on a turntable. I have many albums I have not broken the packaging on. Mostly they are reissues or remasters. Being a collector has its weird things going.
Joseph Wagner Parts of this album is coming out on CD officially, although with (possibly) new overdubs and newly remastered audio, in November this year. Digital release is coming out soon. Look up "Lost and Found" here on UA-cam or online.
So can someone fill me in? I know of at least two other latter day Nilsson songs that I thought were from these sessions... "UCLA" and a terrific song called "Animal Farm"... not from these sessions?
+jzerony I think you're correct. As far as I know (and I've done quite a bit of research) there was never an official track listing for what would have been the album he was working on. All of this stuff has been available on the For the Love of Harry blog (an amazing site). I'm guessing the person who posted this just put them in an order that flowed well. If there's any proof to the contrary, I would love to know!
It sounds like they put the finishing touches on UCLA and Animal Farm for the compilation those went on. I am excited for that to be done to this whole album. Replace cheesy synths with real parts if necessary. I wonder, would the producers dare auto-tune any of Harry's off-key moments from this? If Brown New Robe ever comes out officially, we can refer to this rough bootleg to know, I guess.
Yeah, it is heartbreaking when a beautuful guy like Harry is gone now because of too much partying. Harry, we needed to tuck you in a bit earlier my man, and give you your health. Better in my opinion to have you shorten your party times and lengthen your life. Oh Harry. 💔🌹

Being a collector has its weird things going.
its all in the mind
no. a sad ending, but with some great sparks of his old self. Try Try Try... his last great song.
HARRY NILSSON DID IT BEST BABY
Why didn't they release this album? It's a keeper!
All this is on CD!
Could you upload the entire album? This is such a tease
Sounds like demo versions to me. Upon further review, definitely demos rather than the proper studio recordings
Reminiscence even to the Beatles. Great tunes! "Try try try" might have been a vehicle for Ringo as well.
Omnivore Records has to put this out!

;) Download it from right here.
Sad to hear this.. his voice was really completely gone by then.
but his creative talent.....?
Lost and Found is the truth
Latter-day Harry sounds like latter-day Brian Wilson. Still interesting, but cannot get those high notes anymore at all.
fuck yes.
Is this available on CD or as a download anywhere?
You can download it from right here. Google Listen to UA-cam.
Joseph Wagner Parts of this album is coming out on CD officially, although with (possibly) new overdubs and newly remastered audio, in November this year. Digital release is coming out soon. Look up "Lost and Found" here on UA-cam or online.
@@henryjohnson1071 sadly missing a few songs from here :-(
So can someone fill me in?
Try Try Try sounds so much like modern Brian Wilson lead vocals!
Accelerated Evolution More like Brian Wilson in 1976
superhit
crazy harry blew out his vocal chords working with john lennon in the mid 70s...
Yeah, it is heartbreaking when a beautuful guy like Harry is gone now because of too much partying. Harry, we needed to tuck you in a bit earlier my man, and give you your health. Better in my opinion to have you shorten your party times and lengthen your life. Oh Harry. 💔🌹
Try Try Try is his "All You Need Is Love", isn't it?
he went from sounding like the bettles to sounding like the pogues.
