- With all this interest in Duffy at the moment its forced me to dig out some of my Bernard Butler videos .
Duffy related as ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler is her song writer and producer as well as being a fantastic guitarist .
His songs always managed to bring out the best in Mc Almonts voice in thier partnership after he left Suede and they do the same for Duffy .
Im also a great lover of Phil Spector and Roy Wood style of "wall of Sound" productions and Bernard Butler seems to be able to always pull it off and remind me of that stuff.
The best singer in Britain and the best songwriter of our generation. Timeless classic!
Had forgotten how stunning these two were,... going to buy this again. Totally sends you with his voice. Nothing else sounds like this!

Never heard this before - and once again Mr. McAlmont blows me away...and much as i love BB......David coud do this acapella and it would still blow your socks off....this man amazes me....daily. I love him....

Butler is one of those guitarists that influences me, inspite of the fact i only have the first two Suede albums. He has this carefully crafted style where he writes counter melodies to what the bass and vocals are doing that just fits, when it shouldn't!
I remember hearing this for the first time on radio 2 in the uk .
it was about 1995 . It stuck with me and is a life tune .

Gorgeous. Of course, the song was shortened for commercial reasons, but the full-length version on the their 1997 album was perfect. Never mind. I've got the CD for that!

Thank the lord these 2 met !!!...(and i'm someone who LOVES HEAVY METAL but every now and again i must have a softer side)...Who's to say that Ozzy Osborne or Bruce Dickenson from Iron Maiden haven't listened to these guys and have bought their album ??

isn't it unjust that class like this just falls by the wayside, yet we are force-fed with so much talentless shit thru the media. The voice and guitar should not gel; yet they do and it's heaven-sent.

@jwhite3028 Oh so stunning. Voice from Heaven. He would be what Grace Jones' baby brother would look like. OMG. What a duet that would be! These guys should be dominating the charts right now. But no, we have to put up with utter tat put out by the likes of Simon-I am Beelzebub's little wizard-Cowell. Scary.

easy - amazon have both their CDs. Try BB's own pair of CDs - a little less immediate but some great songs there as well
yeah right - she wrote the lyrics/melody and he didn't? He is credited as co-writer, which given the relative quality of music and lyrics on the Duffy tracks meant she wrote the lyrics (appalling at times) and he wrote the music (sublime at times, especially on Distant Dreamer). Duffy is cowriter on all songs, but I just wonder what her contribution was, with BB and people like Steve Brooker
