Jamie, after watching your Christmas/Holiday vid I was so impressed with your cabin. So last eve and today has been spent binge watching your cabin build. Your cabin is a work of art, creating a warm rustic charm that captivates the beholder. I’ve watched Shawn James and the Outsider build their cabins but yours has been the most interesting. The fact you did this completely on your own, the hours of hard work you put into it, your patience and attention to detail is beyond remarkable. I am in awe of you. I sincerely hope you get hours, years, of enjoyment at it, listening to the sounds of nature surrounding you in the forest as you drink your tea and rock in your chair. I can understand why you enjoy the fall and winter to spend time there, the wood crackling in the fire, the peace and calm there. Thank you for sharing this with us. I hope you relax and enjoy before starting your next project, you definitely earned it.
Really appreciate the kind words. I'm glad you found the channel and build videos interesting. I'm a fan of both Shawn James and the Outsider's work as well. It's a big reason I decided to build a cabin in the woods. Looking forward to sharing more videos soon. Take care!!
Little by little I am understanding the assembly system of the walls. I think you are doing an extraordinary job. The cabin, every day, is more beautiful and complete. And the place where you are building your little shelter is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your work and your dream with us. All the best! Good job!
I'm a porch person, so I was sort of sad to see the back deck disappear, but the bedroom was needed more. Wonderful work. The tortoise won the race after all!
I love the engineering of this cabin. It's definitely going to be sturdy! Always wanted a cabin in the mountains myself. But I'm too old and disabled to do much anymore. So I'll just watch your efforts.
The forests here in Kentucky are breaking out in awesome shades of new growth as I'm sure it is where you are. You are really making progress and it continues to be exciting to watch. The guitar music for your videos is Great. Thanks for sharing.
The one thing I don't need is a cooking lesson, I enjoy very much watching you and your skills build and add on to it. and I enjoy hearing you talk during the build or at least. at times. ''''''''''''''''''''''Gary, 89 yr old Oh USA
Them joints get any tighter you ain't gona need any screws,LOL can't figer if your lumber-logs are getting heaver or your getting older , GREAT JOB, best thing on you tube
I am still amazed and mesmerized by the uniqueness of your cabin building technique. That is a lot of trips to haul in the 2 x 8's, but I am sure you will be greatly rewarded in the end. The cabin will be awesome. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Regards, Randy at Coyote Sticks in Arizona.
Nice addition to an already nice little cabin. Step by step is the best approach. Trying to go big too soon can be overwhelming. Way to go! I like that even when things don't go exactly as planned you don't get frustrated and give up or throw a fit. That's determination. Good job! Keep on keeping on!
Thanks. Adding a little at a time is manageable. I try not to get too far ahead of myself thinking about the work that needs to be done and try to just enjoy being out there.
So cool to see a solid wood walls with no windows. I know you are putting windows in because I saw the outlines. Love were your locating the windows too. Keep up the good work 👏.
I believe he did the corners in two different ways (and he mentions what he's doing in a video previously, I think the secondish video after he started the bedroom walls?), but I think you can make out more or less what he's doing with the bedroom walls around 15:14 in the video, if you don't want to try and dig up his exact explanation.
Thanks. At the end of this video I show the corners.ua-cam.com/video/wbQNNdKqE7k/v-deo.html I'll try to do a close up on next one as well. Thanks for watching 👍
Been enjoying watching this build. So much like our woods right here in central Pa. Would love someday to have a piece of ground to do something similar. Thanks for having us along, you've done a great job with your build and your videos.
Dear Jamie, I am truly in love with your craftsmanship, skills and ideas! You have inspired me to think and do the same, try to build a cabin on a piece of land I just bought. Would it be possible to see your project on paper in details? Sorry if I am asking for too much, just want to get a grip on how and where to start. Thank you for your amazing work that you share with us!
Wow bro that place is really looking great man I wished I could come out and build one right beside you and enjoy myself out there that really looks great you have done a fabulous job man I think I should be the number one cabin in the United States because it looks that good All right I'm going to continue watching take care I want to watch some more talk soon
I sure wish you would get a reciprocating saw for some of those cuts you make. You scare the hell out of me with some of those circular saw cuts. I had a friend that lost three finger in a split second because he thought he had control of it. Be safe, I don't think you could finish your project with ONE hand.
Are the 2X8's treated lumber or rough-cut lumber? I guess my question is how much of your lumber was treated overall? I'm inspired by your work. That cabin should be there for decades over.
I am really interested in how it goes together may build a bunk house at the back of my property looks like the lumber logs would’ve just thing I looking for
If I may ask, did you have to do any weight calculations, to see if the footings/stilts you built on would hold the weight of all the wood in the cabin? Great progress and it's looking good!
No weight test. I just figured double 2x10 rim beams sitting on top of 6x6 posts every 4 feet could pretty much hold any weight since the weight would be evenly distributed. It "feels" solid and shows no signs of failure or movement at all.
@The Off Grid Experience also I can't believe that after watching all your videos you never broke down and bought the Dewalt electric caulking gun. I bought one for just one job. Lol. You.must have forearms of steel after squriting all that liquid nails.

Thanks! I had planned to start the bridge by now but am running behind. Maybe I'll show where it will be on next video.

Thanks 👍 It's getting there!

Is there not going to be any type of windows in the bedroom ???
There is. You can see the outlines if you look close at the back wall.
But is "Acqua della Roccia" the name of the area where you are building? Greetings from Italy. Nice work!
Thanks. It's what I named my property. Hope to visit Italy someday and see where my grandparents came from.
Are the 2X8's treated lumber or rough-cut lumber? I guess my question is how much of your lumber was treated overall? I'm inspired by your work. That cabin should be there for decades over.
Only treated lumber used was on foundation 6x6 posts. All else is untreated.

It's also the story of "The Little Engine That Could." :)

Looks really well made. Love your work. Are you putting windows in your bedroom?
Yes. Should be cut out next video.

How many more rows will ye put up. It's gonna be a very nice cabin
Probably 2 more more. It will be a shed roof that slopes down from cabin.
what is the tent you pass by in the videos?
It's a little camp spot by the creek that was the first thing I put on the property.
1:26 on May 1, 2023. Could you please tell me which video shows the specs for the 3 boards wedged for walls? Or could you please tell me exact design measurements and size screws used? Thanks!
Not sure I understand your question? The walls are all three 2x8's glued and screwed using 2.5" screws.
The middle one that s sandwiched. Does it have to be a certain measurement sticking out, like 2 inches or 1 and a half or ? To be more clear, does the tongue and groove have to certain measurement? Thanks!
@@annchandler3855 yes, the middle tongue board is offset 2". Thanks 👍
Did you select the lumber before delivery because I know they should be as straight as possible with very little crown if any.
Lumber was delivered on pallets unseen. I've been fortunate to get some good batches.
@@TheOffGridExperience those 2×8's at three together must be close tov200 pounds.
How long do you expect the two by eights to last with the weather and bugs how many years?
Decades, hopefully.
Did you use pressure treated wood for the wall construction?
All regular wood. No pressure treated was used except foundation posts.
@@TheOffGridExperience are you concerned with weather warpage over time being non treated wood?
Where do you get the at the stuff.

What are you using four inches screws
You were using the stove tool upside down.. The flat end should be straight out and handle should point up

Trailer ?
Too much weight and not enough room.
