The sheet steel on the roof is EXACTLY as it should be for a cabin. Shouldnt look shiny and new, it ahold have some surface rust and make the cabin look like it's been there awhile.
It's a lil small for me. I mean I'm a sasquatch, but youve made it work for you and thats what counts. And brother you need an EG4 solar minisplit to cool that place down. My parents have a place near Pickwick dam and there's no way I'd make it in later July or any of August without AC. You'll throw rocks at that Amazon fan....
Keep up the great content. We love it.
I have watched you from the beginning and every time was so Intrigued just how you went about your beautiful and peaceful homestead. It’s truly amazing and for a woman Perspective you really have good taste. I love how clean you are as well. Always looking forward when you give us another video. Thank you for sharing and taking your time out to share your journey. Love from 🇺🇸
Thanks for following along 👍 Much appreciated!
It's been fun watching over the last 2.5 years.
I never get tired of seeing this cabin and admiring all of your hard work!
Your channel is like therapy. I watch every video from start to finish. Can't say that about any other UA-cam channel. Looking forward to this next project!
Awesome, looks like it's been there 150 years.
EXCELLENT!!!, CANT WAIT TO SEE THE NEXT CABIN BUILD, WE LIVE IN INDIANA AND WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE BUILT JUST LIKE THIS. WE WOULD LIKE TO BE TOTALLY OFF-GRID SOMEDAY. THANK YOU FOR TAKING US ALONG ON THIS JOURNEY 😊
Glad to see you back. I've missed your videos. Tom Ireland
My husband was from Tennessee and some of their old Homestead look like the cabin you built
You have a beautiful place!
Thank you for sharing! God bless you and your family!🧚🏻🧚🏻🧚🏻❤️
Thank you! You too!
What a great video. From opening with the sound of the stream until the closing with the sound of the stream. Mission accomplished. The perfect, beautiful and creatively build hideaway that blends into the forest like it has always been there. Just looking at it evokes a peaceful feeling. Cannot wait to tag along for the future build. Your videos really do have a little something for everyone's taste. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Much appreciated 👍
your cabin is one of my favorites! what a great system you've built for yourself and your family. ❤
Greetings ‼️Hey « ALONE » .. you’ve imagined & created this AMAZING off grid cabin / you sure can be very proud of your accomplishments. Absolutely « FANTASTIC » job. ❤ from Québec
Thank you very much!
@@TheOffGridExperience You well deserve all reconnaissances ‼️
I would live in that the rest of my days!
Congratulations on your accomplishment. It must feel SO good to be making this video. I'm happy for you. Loved learning from this cabin. My fav part is the river rock wall behind your stove. ...what a view that is to sit in front of! Well done and thanks for sharing. ..it was also nice to hear your voice. It's also nice to watch videos that are peacefully quiet while so informative. Great job!
Thank you. The stone wall is probably my favorite thing in the cabin as well.
Thank you for the detailed explanation. Well done. I enjoyed watching all the videos of the build.
Practical, functional & so steep in pioneer Americana. A 6/12 roof over your head? Will shed off all sorts of precipitation, those multi purpose stoves makes a wonderful home. Thank you for sharing.
You have built a beautiful, cozy house that blends harmoniously into nature.😊
Very cool! Can’t wait for the next build!
AWESOME!
the handmade "logs" are brilliant..
Thanks 👍
I have fantasized about building a home..and this method definitely makes it concievable
Great build, man. Looking forward to your next one too!
This one is the cream on top! I've enjoyed watching all of the videos on this build. I'm looking forward to the next log cabin! Thanks for the tour!

Good to see your video back!!!!! Welcome back!
We’re building our cabin now. Love your videos and we have learned alot.so Thank you . Ours is 20x30. Me & my Bf are building it. Some heavy boards. Couldn’t imagine doing it alone.
PERFECT PERFECT ! BRAVO ! ❤
Can’t wait to see the new log cabin mate!
Thanks. Me either.
I've been watching your cabin build for quite some time this has to be one of the most stunning cabin builds I've ever seen on UA-cam I look forward to your videos great content keep it coming
Love the cabin!
Your place looks great! I've enjoyed watching you build everything and I look forward to seeing you begin your log cabin. Thanks so much for capturing all of this hard work for our enjoyment and learning experience. May our God continue to bless your efforts.
GREAT JOB!! TOP🔝👍👍👍👍
I remember watching you build this cabin originally and it really looks great. I myself am still working on a 16x26 log cabin (3 1/2 years now ) and want to wish you luck in your future project. It’s a lot of work to do mostly alone but incredibly rewarding when completed! Enjoy.
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Great cabin build.
I've followed from the start.... I've said it before but I'm saying it again. This is one of the most impressive cabins I have ever scene. Great job! Look forward to seeing what comes next.
Wow, thanks!
Well done. It’s cool seeing the fruits of your labor. Came out amazing. Excellent video brother.
Much appreciated
What a great job. Loved this series!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great planning, you really did a good job! What a piece full place.
Wow this is really a log cabin of sorts , so interesting !!! ❤
It looks amazing. You did a great job 👏 👍
You were building your cabin the same time I was doing a total renovation on my 1942 bungalow with help from my 77 yr dad & son. We'd watch videos when we took breaks.
Dad & I found the 2x8 method very interesting. Both of us prefer the look of milled square logs & thought how much easier the 2x8 would be for us.
The question we had was where did u get get lumber & was it kiln dried?
We spent hours going through bins at Lowes & Hone Deppt trying to find wood that wasn't warped & twist. $10 for a 2x4 stud and you couldn't find a straight one. Trying to find 1" board without twist was a nightmare. I used 1x6 for my trim, $25. Due to pandemic shortages we had to hook the trailer up and spend a day hitting up every lumber store within 2 hours of the house.
Beautiful cabin.., thanks for sharing your building journey!!!
Thanks for watching!
I love it, been following you along on this project and am looking forward to your next project.
More to come!
I appreciated very much the work you've done. Thanks so much for sharing!
Amazing job on that beautiful cabin sir !!
Good video thanks I would like to see a video on how you cut and connect the wall corners together.
This video shows the better way to do corners. I wish I did it this way on the main cabin shell.
ua-cam.com/video/wbQNNdKqE7k/v-deo.html
I have enjoyed watching the building process. Nice job.
Thanks 👍
I'm so jealous!
Beautiful in its simplicity and elegant in design. I’d love to spend a few days there myself. Very excited for the future home and to follow that adventure. Really amazing thought and execution went into this labour of love. Kudos to you 🇨🇦🥰👋
Thank you 👍
Awesome video with the many different ideas, lots to think about when building, well thought out build!!
Thanks 👍
Linda cabana. Parabéns 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Longtime subscriber. Cabin looks great and very well done explanations/walkthrough video!!
Thanks for following along. It's about to get very interesting 👍
I absolutely love this cabin! The way you did the boards is just ingenious! And it is just beautiful I mean truly beautiful
the best cabin on youtube. perfekt job.
Thanks 👍
You build my dream cabin. What an amazing job you did👍👍 I have been watching since you first started building this cabin. Keep up the amazing work you do and I look forward to watching you build your next cabin. Cheers from Ontario Canada
Thank you. Much more to come 👍

Un super travail de titan j'adore la construction de cette cabane idem pour vos vidéos
Thank you 👍
Finally I'm found this kind of Cabin you build 😊❤💘
Gorgeous and Peaceful place that's why I'm so inlove with your cabin, should I live there
#mydreamwishlist 🎯
#inlovetinyhouse❤
Absolutely enjoy watching your
Tiny Cabin perfect 💘💞💖
Love your music selections and your commentary, just not at the same time. Sometimes have to replay a couple lines to understand what you said. Still love the channel and am anticipating the new build. Thanks for sharing.
For the roof and the rain catchment system. What chemicals did you use on the sheet metal? Does that come into play for drinking or does the filer system catch all of that? I'm in a similar scenario and was curious. Thank you.
Good question. I did not use any chemicals or rust the bedroom roof. That's where the rainwater comes from.
Enjoy your videos and looking forward to the new cabin build.. what is your opinion of the John Deere gator?
I have nothing but good things to say about it. The amount of material I hauled up and down hills with no issues is pretty impressive.
PUERTO RICO FIRST
Are you using solar panels or a gasoline generator to charge your Bluetti batteries?
How do you charge your Bluetti's, and do you have a short on JD Gator E?
Great inspiration and detail explanations. Was all the lumber untreated store bought or is there also saw milled rough cut?
All store bought. Next cabin will be completely different with hardly anything store bought.
Great. Build video, But unfortunately 50+ years ago my dad help a neighbor rebuild his shed which used the same way of sandwiching wood together. And 40 yes ago me & friend built a 12X25 ft shed with scaffold boards which are 9x2 in by 13ft
Too bad youtube wasn't around or you guys would be the first 👍
It looks like you might have built the rocking chair you have on the porch. Do you have a video on that or a link to plans for it that you can share?
Actually bought it from a local woodworker. They are nice chairs. Maybe someday I'll try and build one.
Im in Maine, where we get some pretty harsh winters. I would LOVE to use this method, but I worry about moisture/condensation on the interior of the roof in the real cold months. Any thoughts?
No issues with condensation. I have vents on each gable end above ridge beam that allows air to circulate.
Do you live there year round?
I love the wall block design!
It's just a weekend/hunt cabin right now 👍
I've watched you do this from the floor up, and a fantastic job it is.
I am wondering if you've kept a running total on the expense so far? And how much it has cost you minus the land cost.
This video is pretty accurate:
ua-cam.com/video/Xxxw0mC60A4/v-deo.htmlsi=shb68n7IRV5PP7bN
Where is the link to a video for your electrical? I've been looking through the library you've got and can't seem to find anything that shows how to install the battery/generator.
I don't have electricity. Just a generator which I power my lights and other things with.
Been following since you started that cabin. Absolutely amazing and I love it, brother. I would move there to live out the rest of my days there.
I have a question for you, though, if you don’t mind?!
When I see this cabin, I imagine what I’d do to be prepared for certain situations. My question is:
What kind of plans do you have to protect your cabin against wildfires?? Do you have fire breaks in the forest or what?
Thank you in advance for your time and your response. 😊
We get a ton of rain in Tn, so I haven't really thought about it. It's always pretty damp and humid.
I'm hoping the burning of the logs helps protect against fire.
@@TheOffGridExperience unfortunately, you know how weird the weather’s been lately. Dry in spots where it’s normally not and vice versa. Just something to think about. As a person who prepares, I try to suggest alternatives for preparedness. 😉
Did you pin between the lumber logs to keep walls plumb or simply rely upon the tongue and groove engagement?
I just checked it with a level as I built it up.
Thank you for the video. I’ve been watching for a couple years. I am also building by log cabin in the upper peninsula Michigan. How does it heat in the winter time? Can you keep it warm in there?
Stays plenty warm with stove going.
@@TheOffGridExperience thank you
Hello, I have been a very enthusiastic viewer of your house since construction began. I live in Austria and would like to ask you, how do you keep your water supply ice-free in winter?
Kind regards Franz from Austria😃
I'll let you know. I haven't had the rainwater set up until a couple months ago.
You've done a nice job with the interior. What is the typical interior temperature on a hot Summer day with and without the fan? Thanks.
It's about 10-15⁰ cooler inside with no fan on.
@@TheOffGridExperience Thanks. That's pretty good.
Do you have any additional insulation other than the laminated 2 x 8 and if so how do they hold up in the winter and summer for heat retention
No other insulation in the walls. Just the three 2x8s. Once it heats up, the walls hold the heat pretty good.
How do you recharche your inside generator, you say nothing about that, do you have an outside dieselgenerator to recharge the generator inside, because that electrick has to be recharged? Greetings from Pattaya Thailand.
Excellent cabin build.
A question I have how do you charge your solor system?
Solar panels and a Honda gas generator and sometimes I charge at my house.
I didn’t catch, how do you charge the bluetti units? Was it off a solar screen or off a gas powered generator or at home of A/C?
I really enjoyed the videos, very relaxing to watch. Great job ! Speaking as an old retired man, It would be hard to get motivated to build another, I think I’d just sit and enjoy this one. 😅
Is there a triangular gap between the porch roof and porch ceiling along the side allowing for and open space? You might want to tack a piece over the north and south sides it to seal it from varmints or birds nesting. Look forward to your next endeavor.
Have you had trouble with carpenter bees ?
Did you use wood glue or construction adhesive to put the boards together?
Construction adhesive.
Have you kept a tally on the cost of materials and will you have solar or electricity in your new build coming up?
It's a little bit over the amount I had listed in the "How I Built This Cabin" video. Not much though.
Also, why’d you choose the Bluetti over the Jackery? Just curious. 😊
They are both good. Just like Bluetti a bit more.
How much money to build it?
how do you charge your bluetti?
Solar panels, honda gas generator amd sometimes charge it at home.
🖐👍👏🤝
How do you recharge the Bluetti?
@@randycarey-walden8530 solar panels and gas generator.
Did you say at one time that you aren't allowed to live in this full time?
Only when my wife gets mad at me....😂
@@TheOffGridExperience enough said 😂🤣😂
Where is this cabin???
Watch the first of the video!
Tennessee duh
Are there things that wish you would have done different
The corners of the main shell were not done like I did the bedroom, which was a better way to do it so you have no gaps.
What do you do with the bags of shit?
Haha....garbage.
What does your dad think of your cabin?
Wish he were still here to see it....
I don't think you know what a generator is.
As long as the squirrels and rabbits in the power wheel under the cabin keep running, the generator works fine.
Ah for the days when man could build his own cabin and not have the govt hanging out in his pockets.
The music should be more subtle, it overpowers the narration and is an unnecessary distraction, and grates on my nerves, please tone it way down in future videos, it definitely creates a “Deliverence” vibe. Nice cabin build, I would like more windows upstairs, to take in the views and sunlight in the daytime and view the stars at night while I drift off to sleep.
Does your wife not like the cabin
She likes it in the fall/winter.
