With the release of the more affordable version of the 8bitdo Ultimate controller, a lot more people have been watching this video! I thought it might be a good idea to leave a pinned comment explaining the difference between the controller reviewed in this video and 8bitdo's recent release: This controller is the 8bitdo ultimate Bluetooth controller, whereas the new release is the 8bitdo Ultimate C controller The C controller lacks the Bluetooth capabilities of the Bluetooth version, only providing the 2.4g adapter The C version is not customizable in the ultimate software, and does not have multiple button mapping profiles The C version doesn't include the cool charging stand The C version does not have programmable back buttons The C controller is substantially cheaper, so if you don't mind missing features, it's a good option The C version also has a wired edition, which may have lower latency than the 2.4g edition in some cases
I've read the switch has a laggy usb implementation on the switch hardware itself so wireless is actually in this case faster. Few reviews test the input lag on pc software emulating a switch connection. Gulikit fell behind 8bitdo ultimate wireless and Nintendo pro still ahead in terms of input lag. Numbers are never compared with a wired controller in any reviewers video so its still a who knows conclusion. Games like smash have built in frame delays so it's not entirely a deal breaker. But game by game case is not conclusive. Glad to see controllers moving in the right direction.
C version has regular potentiometer analog sticks too, no hall effect. But if you know how to solder, you can buy magnetic sticks and solder them on your pro or even this ultimate c.
Wow I have never had stick drift in my pro controller. Didn't even consider that Nintendo once again used thin filament for the potentiometers which results in decreased useful life. A little concerning since Nintendo used to never have stick drift issues and you would think the pro controller wouldn't be either with the larger form factor than the slim form factor of the joy-con controllers. Are you sure it's not a faulty component or simply dust? Notice that stick drift is a symptom and the problem can range from simple to complex. You may not have actual stick drift prognosis but a symptom instead. I would try cleaning or just replace the bad control stick.
Just subbed. I have the 8bitdo for close to a year now. Love the controller. Bought it for the hall effect control sticks so it wouldn't drift. But watching this video I actually learned that you could turn the switch on with the controller which was one of the small gripes I had with it. As soon as you mentioned 'shake the controller' I screamed "WHAT!?" and immediately grabbed the controller and tried it. Couldn't believe the switch turned on. Feel like a fool because I always manually pushed the power on the switch and then pushed the button on the controller to sync lol. Fantastic work and great video.
If you keep the adapter inside of the dock and plug the dock into a USB port on your computer it can be your signal hub for when you are playing games on PC. So if you're like me and keep your tower under your desk then the computer can still get great signal to the controller through the dock. It really makes switching from the Switch to PC play a ton easier.
@@breakmon218 Don't listen to them, there's nothing backing up what they said. They didn't even say what it supposedly "interferes" with. I've had an 8bitdo pro controller for 2 years with the dongle connected straight into my PC under my desk and I've had 0 connectivity issues. In fact, my mouse, my headset and my controller are all wireless, and all have their own dongles, and none have any issues whatsoever even when using all 3 at the same time.
@@radamstep I think the "interference" they're talking about is instability when there's too many devices plugged in at the same time. I've had it happen multiple times before when I had 5 devices plugged in. My controller will work, but my keyboard suddenly stops working, then both will work, but then my mic stops working. The system tries to pick and choose which device wants to work first. The safe limit is 3. Anything more than that should require a powered external hub.
Really goes to show you how well Nintendo did from the GET GO with their controller and confidently stood behind their price. Although - Hall effect sticks with no drift is pretty nice! And I’m personally not a huge fan of the mushy buttons on the Nintendo Pro Controller. But that’s an excellent point about the battery. Also Nintendo wins with the comfort. It’s just amazing how much they got right. I think we really took it for granted.
Agreed! I only recently realized that all the changes I wanted for the Pro Controller were additions, not necessarily improvements on what was already there. The only big change I would want is non-drifting sticks, which speaks volumes for the quality of the controller in just about every other area.
I think even though the 8bitdo ultimate has nearly HALF the battery life of a normal pro controller, the included dock fixes this. Depleted batteries will really only ever be a problem when you constantly forget to put it on there.
Helpful and very well done for a first proper video! Looks like the perfect controller for me, I’ve been eyeing it for awhile but I wanted to make sure it worked for splatoon. I have unusual hands so a more straight shaped controller fits better, the nexigo joypad fits my hands perfectly, but both that and a $15 third party controller has started to drift.
Great video. I just ordered the Switch Pro controller based on your assessment. I have larger hands and recognize the fatigue I would suffer using the smaller 8bitdo controller.

Great review! It is unfortunate Nintendo chose a "lower-quality" standard for the thumbstick but in terms of worn out or drift i think it is understandable regardless even if magnetic or not an issue might occur. What I am particular is the D-pad issue that persist before and I guess it does still? I read that there were new models that Ninentdo seemed to have changed the d-pad design underneath coz i am more into fighting games and my experience from OG SNES/Sega Genesis d-pad's are top tier.
Thanks! Yeah, Nintendo's D-pads have weirdly regressed over several console generations. Like you said, the best D-pads are on their oldest consoles! It's true, later models of the Switch pro controller made a small change to fix how mushy the D-pad is. It really didn't change much, sadly. I've tried to fix it myself by opening up the D-pad and adding more material to the contact point in the middle, which did help a little bit. It's a bummer that they had the best D-pad figured out and then never integrated it into their new controllers.
1. I want a symmetrical left right thumb sticks. 2. Micro switches for all buttons, except triggers maybe. 3. 4 back buttons. 4. Swappable sticks with different height. Combined with all gear it's already have, this will be a real ultimate pro controller.
The lower battery life isn't really a issue since usually you would just put it on your dock after a gaming session anyway and the shape and size, well it just depends if you have bigger or smaller hands so if you have smaller hands this is definitely a must-get.
Got this yesterday because i got royally annoyed by the stick drift on the right analog camera side my nintendo pro controller. Now playing good knowing that the stick drift won't bother me anymore. Still keeping the old pro controller in case gulikit makes hall sensor sticks replacement for it. Gulikit makes those hall effect sticks for this 8bitdo controller in an article i read back so i was convinced to buy this.
this is great, really needed to know if this controller will feel bigger/better in my hands compared to the switch controller. Good to know its smaller and feels worse, won't be grabbing one but great review@
I have bought the 8bitdo Ultimate Controller. For me this is my primaryt goto controller. I play a lot of games that used the d-pad not for movement, but for other independent functions. The Switch Pro Controller's d-pad is such garbage, that I often unintentionally hit multiple functions at the same time. This can be really frustrating, especially in more action heavy games or when it uses consumables. This makes games more difficult to play and only because I am fighting the hardware and not get something challenging in a game. The d-pad on the 8bitdo just works leagues better and it makes games more fun to play. I can actually immerse myself into a game and not have that immersion broken, because I am fighting unreliable hardware. Even with the shortcommings of the 8bitdo controller has towards the Pro Controller, it still makes playing games a lot more fun. And in the end that is what matters most to me.
Agreed! The Switch Pro D-pad may be the worst D-Pad Nintendo has ever made. Weird that they use a worse design now than they did back on the original NES controller.
I have small hands and the 8BitDo does actually fit my hands better, I do wish the grips where more spread out but It's not too bad for me. I have another 3rd part controller, a Hori wireless one, and that one is too big for my hands. Personally, I love the face buttons on the 8Bitdo, the shape and distance are perfect for when I need to mash two buttons together, other face buttons have sharp edges that hurt my finger. Also, while the Switch pro does have better battery, The 8Bitdo doesn't have bad battery life, it's rated for about 20 hours, which is still pretty good, and so much better than other 3rd party controllers.
I don’t have big hands and I feel the same way about the form factor. the switch pro controller is the most comfortable modern controller that I’m aware of. I can use it for hours with no fatigue and I can’t say the same for any other modern controller. I do like the 8bitdo over the Xbox controller in every way tho, so the 8bitdo has become my dedicated PC controller and I stick to the switch pro for switch games
If you have large hands you can improve the feel by adding silicone grip covers. I believe (but am not sure) that PlayVital’s Switch Pro kit is compatible.
@@FrameTwo I didn't try it myself but someone on reddit did it and posted a photo of it. They basically cut the controller cover apart at the grips by following the lines. If I come across the photo again I'll link it...

Though the d-pad is better than the Switch Pro d-pad, I wouldn't say it's the best one out there. I've been using the 8bitdo controller since making this video, and I've gotten used to it in spite of my hand size. What system/games are you going to use the d-pad for? The music is from Splatoon 2's expansion!
The reason why I want this ultimate controller it’s because its price point it is actually the cheapest way for me to get a wireless controller for the Nintendo switch with a dock. If I get the official Nintendo pro controller that’s £60 plus the price for whatever I can find for that however, this controller this 8bitdo control for about the same price, £6 found it slightly cheaper gives me a good controller with a dock for the same price. I’m practically getting the dock for free Plus the ability to use it on PC as our nice bonus but kind of redundant for me because I don’t have a PC but it’s the fact I can if I want to in future
I think the Pro controller (thou it can be used with you PC as well) is a better controll for eith exlusivly or majority use on Switch, with the 8bitduo is a better controller for people thinking about getting a Switch + PC controller who intend on using it on PC a bit more.
I think it might be the other way around. The 8bitdo has been a terrible controller on PC for me (atleast for getting it to run as a Switch controller).
No. The ABXY membrane is too thin and rips after couple years use, leaving you with stuck buttons. My experience of 8bitdo is similar to this user quote: "Asked 8bitdo earlier yesterday. The controller also uses the same old 8bitdo membrane pad under the ABXY, L1 and R1. I've been through three 8bitdo controllers and the pads of those buttons tend to rip, especially with more intense games. When they rip, they will get stuck sometimes or won't rise back up at all. The face button pads are easy to replace since they use pads similar to SNES controllers, but I don't know if there's a similar pad for the shoulder buttons and have just scavenged the pads from my older 8bitdo controllers. They apparently used to let you buy replacement pads if you live in the USA, but I don't know if that's true anymore."
That's wild! I hadn't heard to many complaints while researching 8bitdo, but most of my research was around the Ultimate controller...so I guess it makes sense that I didn't see anything about whimpy button membranes, since it hasn't been out all that long.

@@qu3tzal790 Well, that's just it. They are all designed to last a small finite period and break just after warranty. Currently using a latest MS XBOX controller, that I desoldered the rumble motors out of. Seems to be fine for now, but these will be vulnerable to drift like anything else apart from the hall effect sticks. But as I stated, 8bitdo controllers are prone to membrane tears by design. Just need a decent non corrupt manufacturer to come out and storm the market.
The real reason why I bought this controller (even though I already have a pro controller) is because of the D-pad. I love side-scrolling games and playing Tetris, but it's really uncomfortable with the Nintendo D-pad. It's a shame that such a beautiful controller has so many missed inputs with the D-pad.
I really hope that 8bitdo makes a more premium controller. This controller was a step in the right direction and has a ton of value with the Hall effect joysticks, 2.4ghz and Bluetooth modes, customizable, and the dock. But I agree with you about the form factor of the controller. I have large hands as well and do wish it was more inline with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers ergonomics. The things I would love to see in a more premium controller would be: Trigger Stops - able to switch between digital and analog triggers (I play more games that don't utilize any sort of analog trigger, so with games that have digital trigger inputs it feels weird and makes inputs feel sloppy. Even with customizing the dead zones, having no immediate thing to hit against is a downside) Larger and flatter face buttons like the Switch Pro Controller Larger form factor for my hands, along with the grips being angled like the Pro Controller
I totally agree. After using it for months playing PC games, I haven't needed the analog triggers once. Like you said, the travel on the triggers is a bit irritating if you need to tap them for a single input. Trigger stops would be really nice! Maybe I'll print out some stops to slip in there and calibrate the deadzones to match. There's gotta be a way to rig it up.
@@arielguzman9336 It's half a solution, when I need to time trigger presses in succession with a digital trigger it's easy to get into a rythym because you have the end of the trigger to press against. With an analog trigger with a low threshold for input, it makes it more cumbersome to press just far enough, then release the trigger. Analog triggers also make tapping the button harder because there isn't the feedback that you pressed the button all the way.
Loving my 8bitdo, sticks feel nice and the grip is cool. I use to keep having to replace my Xbox controller for my pc, I wish I knew about this controller before going through 3 xbox controllers haha I only came across this recently because I bought a switch. I think it's worth it.

Sorry for the late response! My glove size is a little over 8.5 inches. The way you measure that is by wrapping a string around your hand just below knuckles across the top part of your palm (the string doesn't wrap around your thumb). O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O TTTTTTT OOOOOOOO OOOOOOOO OOOOOOO OOOOO The T's are where the measuring tape/string goes. You then clench your fist and take the measurement.
Excellent video. I have small hands and I hate the Pro controller's D-pad so I think I'm going to get the 8bitdo Ultimate. I have the 8bitdo Pro 2, and I love that D-pad, but I prefer the XBox layout. And just in case you haven't already, on your Switch go to System Settings - Controllers and Sensors - Update Controllers. I had 2 brand new Switch Pro controllers and both of them had stick drift out of the box, and the controller update fixed both of them.
@larryvgs Sounds like the Ultimate controller will be a great fit for you! As a heads up though, the version with the Xbox layout doesn't necessarily work with the Switch, I've heard. You might want to research that a bit more if you're planning on using it with your Switch. Sadly, the problem I have with my Pro Controller is that the inside of the stick is deteriorating. I've cleaned it out once, which helped for a little while, but updating it didn't change much sadly.
@@FrameTwo Sorry to hear for you it's a stick wear issue and not an update issue. Not a biggie for me if XBox layout doesn't work with the Switch. I just want a controller with a decent D-pad in the lower left mainly for retro 2D games on emulators, and the best for control so far for me has been the latest XBox controller, but I like the traditional cross D-Pad on the 8bitdo Pro 2 better than the new circular XBox shaped D-pad. I'm a big fan of Montezuma's Revenge, and without a good D-pad those jumps and quick moves are impossible.

Thanks! I've heard of the Wizard Joycons before, and I am intrigued by them. After some cursory research, they do seem to boast a lot of the same features as the 8bitdo ultimate. I didn't realize that they had Hall effects joysticks until now, so I'm intrigued! Also, if they are the same exact shape as a classic GC controller, then I think they would fit in my hands much better than the 8bitdo ultimate. I'll have to look into them!
Fair point. I wouldn't have had an argument when I made the video, but unfortunately the dock stopped working a little under a year after getting it. Now the battery life matters more than I expected!
What a weird design choice for the body of the 8Bitdo Ultimate Controller, especially when you consider that they got the form factor right with the 8BitDo Pro 2. The 8BitDo Pro 2 has a nice curvature to the grip and is very comfortable for large hands. I recommend that controller as long as you don't mind its PlayStation-style analog stick layout and the fact that its analog sticks aren't magnetic. Thank you for helping me to steer clear of the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller. It looks like it would not be a good fit for my large hands. Really well-done video by the way. I was surprised to hear that this is your first attempt at a video of this type. The voiceover was clear, and the editing was on point for the most part.
I have large hands and wont ever use another controller. Steering clear might be a big loss in your book. Im 6'2" pushing 200 and wear a a size 13 shoe..and also have worked a fair bit of construction.. I can promise my hands are quite large.
Really on the line between this controller and the dkpro 2, both have the hall sensor, but the dk doesn't have back buttons, but the form factor for the dk is better looking. :/
I actually started making one, but sadly my skills were a bit lacking in 3d modeling to properly finish it. I still plan to do so, but I've started working on other projects to get better at modeling before I go back.
Same! I thought it might be fun to try and 3d print a new shell for the controller to make it more comfortable, but it has ended up being extremely difficult to model. It's a fantastic controller otherwise, so I'll keep searching for ways to fix the form factor.
It took me a while to find out why mine didn't wake up the switch. It can only wake it on bluetooth mode (only after you paired it once), not in 2.4ghz.
I don't really have plans to review any powerA controllers unless they come out with one that has hall effects sticks. This is mostly thanks to my vendetta against stick drift! I know PowerA offers a lot of options, so I'm not really sure where I'd even begin.
The face buttons on both controllers are a little mushier than the joycon buttons. The 8bitdo Ultimate controller's buttons are a bit more tactile than the Pro controller's, and they also have a minutely shorter travel distance compared to the Pro controller's face buttons. Personally, I like the less mushy buttons, but I don't really like clicky buttons like the ones on the joycons. Hope this helps!
Assuming it's the same adapter as the one they sell individually (I'm nearly certain it is), you can connect a Xbox controller to the adapter, but each adapter only supports one controller at a time. I think I understood your question fully, but let me know if I missed something!
Well I brought the ultimate bluetooth yesterday and I'm not sure if it's worth it. since I'm used to playstation layout. Also, I don't like the dpad for the fighting games.
Yeah this isn't even a contest they cost the same and you get way more tailored to the hardcore gamer Hal sensor sticks being the biggest selling point it feels so much more accurate it's much more high quality and you get a dock and app support who cares about nfc and hd rumble that's what I got joycons for anyway I'll take the 8bitdo ultimate and Gulikit king king 2 over a switch pro any day the pro controller is a $70 rip off this late in the game Gulikit joycons Hal Sticks are phenomenal as well I've put them in my personal switch my 3 nephew's switch and my parents switch yeah much better than buying new $80 joycons that'll have the same problem in a few months time
The only reason this is a debate for me is because analog triggers feel so out of place on switch, if the ultimate had digital triggers it would be no contest for me
Analog triggers are certainly a novelty. Not many games use them, and I don't think there is anything on the switch compatible with these triggers. I personally set the dead zone so that I have to move the triggers less than a millimeter for it to register, so there is essentially no travel necessary for the Switch to register a button press. I like the idea of analog triggers, but I agree that they do feel out of place.
If you're referring to the version with the XBox button layout, I don't think the Bluetooth works with the Switch. I'm unsure if it works with the 2.4g adapter plugged in though. The version with the Nintendo button layout works with everything including the Switch. It's a strange difference, but it does look like the Switch compatible one is a little pricier in most stores, sadly.

In my case I have never had stick drift in any of my controllers except the joycons they always have stick drift and then I have to buy a new pair it gets really annoying I mean I figured a way how to fix it but it was just germx and it comes back still and then I have to put more germx I wish I didn't have to do that but I guess that's what I have to do
Joycons are the worst drift-wise. I replaced several of them before deciding it wasn't worth using them. Someone claimed a fix by putting something inside the joycon between the shell and the back of the stick to put pressure on it. I haven't tried it myself, but it might be worth looking into if you still use joycons consistently.

I think it does if you use the 2.4g adapter...if it has a USB port. That said, 8bitdo does make an adapter that allows any of their controllers to connect to the PlayStation classic.
The 2.4 is a little more responsive. In the tests I did I had a hard time noticing a huge difference to be honest, but I didn't test very rigorously since on either band the controller functioned just as quickly as (if not faster than) other wireless controllers I've tried. I almost always use the 2.4g usb, and I haven't had any issues with latency.
@@Pienterr It may be worth noting you can't use the Gyro in the 2.4 mode due to it using standered Xinput drivers in that mode. Depending on what you intened on using the controller for.
I was so disappointed with this product. It just constantly connects and disconnects (for PC) and no amount of trouble shooting with 8bitdo support fixed it. No such issues with my stock Xbox for windows controller (with the windows wireless adaptor). None of these reviews have mentioned this issue despite it being widely reported on Reddit by many users. Great video!
I agree, mine has been unusable as a Switch controller on Yuzu. It works great as an Xbox controller…but it took forever for me to get the Bluetooth to work and it kept dropping…I used the old firmware to get 2.4G to run in Switch mode and I dropped signal a lot too. Via usb c cord it only reads as an Xbox controller. So it has been an awful controller to use for Switch emulation. Not sure how I didn’t see any of this mentioned in the reviews, especially since it is supposed to be a Switch+PC controller Ironically, I bought this to replace my pro controller that I’ve had since it launched (been getting some drift)…and now I just went back to it for now.
That is Trackmania 2020! It's a great game that I've streamed quite a bit. I first heard about it from a UA-camr named Wirtual. I would highly recommend his channel.
One of the biggest problem with this controller and that you don't mention in your video is the fact that you can't use the gyroscope and the analog triggers at the same time on PC. Either you have your controller detected as a Switch controller with gyro but no analog trigger, or you have it detected as an XBOX controller with analog triggers but no gyro. I even believe that a mode disables the functionality of the other so that the problem can not even be resolved via software. And for a controller offering both technologies, it's a huge waste, especially knowing that the DUALSHOCK 4 has already offered this functionality for a long time.
It's not bad. I didn't notice too many instances where I hit multiple directions at once. That said, I didn't test it extensively because it seemed pretty run-of-the-mill. Other 8-bitdo controllers have better D-pads, which is a little disappointing since this is supposed to be the 'ultimate controller'.
Can’t recommend the Ultimate controller enough personally. I have hands a touch on the small side, but I think unless you have huge hands you’re fine. Buy at a place where it’s able to be easily returned if you want to test, but it’s great.

6:38 Yeah, Flight sim people, as well actual RC pilots who fly things, All use Hall Effect gimbals. Essentially a fancier version of our Hall effect joysticks. They are known to last forever. I know its only "theory" in the gaming world, but if you look outside to the Drone and RC flight world, they have been using hall effects for decades... Also, the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast used them lmao... Hall effects are nothing new.. Just ignored by big Game companies to sell more controllers... Scummy.
I guess my hands mustn't be that big. I have always preferred the kinds of controllers that a lot of Americans seem to have a problem with. I have never loved big chunky Xbox style controllers.
I recently tried a controller that has the same form factor as a Xbox controller, and I can see what you mean. Even though it fits in my hands great, it forces my pointer fingers to rest on the triggers. In games that use the shoulder buttons (I play a lot that use them) I have to uncomfortably stretch my pointer fingers to reach them. I was a little disappointed because I heard that Xbox controllers were the peak form factor. I favor this 8bitdo controller over them by a long shot.
I'm not trying to deny that you feel the controller is so uncomfortable for you because that would be silly. That being said, I just don't understand what people are talking about with this controller being uncomfortable. It feels almost exactly the same as the Pro controller. The angle change is not so pronounced to make it that drastic. I do think it's weird though that every reviewer that says that it's uncomfortable says that while showing B-roll of them holding the controller in the most uncomfortable position possible so that they can get a shot of them playing with it. This is gonna sound weird but did you ever think of switching up your grip? I've been playing games since the 80s and back then controllers didn't have hand grips. You couldn't "grip" the controller without accidentally hitting a button or 2. You needed to let the controller rest in your hands. Try this grip: Ring and pinky fingers wrapped loosely around the grips. Middle fingers at the back of the controller, supporting the controller. Index fingers resting on the triggers. In this position you don't need to "grip" the controller it just rests in your hands and in turn your hands are able to rest. I play with all controllers with similar "grips" and have no issues. And yes I too have large hands... Not Michael Jordan large mind you, but my glove size definitely is large. A change in grip may help.
Fair points, but when I try this grip you've mentioned, my thumbs land much higher on the face of the controller than I would like. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your description, but do your fingers line up with the back paddles with that grip? It's definitely possible that the controller is uncomfortable because of my unwillingness to switch grips.

I've been using this controller pretty much exclusively for about a month now and the only time it feels even a bit uncomfortable is when I try to hold it like a playstation controller. Are you going to use it for the Switch or emulating the Switch on PC/PC Gaming? I personally think the 8bitdo is a rough controller for PC emulation, but it feels premium tho.
Got the 8bitdo Ultimate and not sure how people keep calling it the best controller ever…maybe if all you’re going to do is play the Switch. I personally bought it to use as a dedicated Yuzu controller for my gaming PC and it has been terrible at that. Googled every possible solution and it has been a downright awful experience for me.
Dang, that sucks! I've been using it almost exclusively for PC gaming and I haven't had many issues. It occasionally disconnects, but that is pretty rare, and it reconnects quickly. What kind of problems are you having with it?
@@FrameTwo Bought it to use for Yuzu emulation on PC. The controller was only recognized as a Switch controller with Bluetooth which dropped signal a lot. Wired and 2.4G worked well but was X-Input and only recognized as an Xbox Controller so gyro didn’t work. I tried the older firmware that allows Switch mode on 2.4G but that dropped signal just as bad as Bluetooth (2.4G worked well with X-input). Ended up going back to my pro controller that I’ve had since launch. Sure it is getting some drift, but at least it works great as a Switch controller when plugged in or via Bluetooth.
The pro+ is better, connects to more devices, bar xbox because fuck bluetooth and fuck being able to connect hearing aids or any normal controller amirite also the macro for the paddles override all other input, making them pretty fucking useless
Guys, dont buy this controller if you need to press and use R1 R2 allll the time, it's really small and would hurt your fingers, i use it to play Nioh 2 and man.. my finger hurts, because the Top 4 buttons is small so you need to use your top part of your finger to press it all the time, which you need to press harder than Pro controller since the top button is larger, you can use your 2 part of finger to press it.

With the release of the more affordable version of the 8bitdo Ultimate controller, a lot more people have been watching this video! I thought it might be a good idea to leave a pinned comment explaining the difference between the controller reviewed in this video and 8bitdo's recent release:
This controller is the 8bitdo ultimate Bluetooth controller, whereas the new release is the 8bitdo Ultimate C controller
The C controller lacks the Bluetooth capabilities of the Bluetooth version, only providing the 2.4g adapter
The C version is not customizable in the ultimate software, and does not have multiple button mapping profiles
The C version doesn't include the cool charging stand
The C version does not have programmable back buttons
The C controller is substantially cheaper, so if you don't mind missing features, it's a good option
The C version also has a wired edition, which may have lower latency than the 2.4g edition in some cases
I've read the switch has a laggy usb implementation on the switch hardware itself so wireless is actually in this case faster.
Few reviews test the input lag on pc software emulating a switch connection.
Gulikit fell behind 8bitdo ultimate wireless and Nintendo pro still ahead in terms of input lag.
Numbers are never compared with a wired controller in any reviewers video so its still a who knows conclusion.
Games like smash have built in frame delays so it's not entirely a deal breaker. But game by game case is not conclusive.

C version has regular potentiometer analog sticks too, no hall effect. But if you know how to solder, you can buy magnetic sticks and solder them on your pro or even this ultimate c.
Wow I have never had stick drift in my pro controller. Didn't even consider that Nintendo once again used thin filament for the potentiometers which results in decreased useful life. A little concerning since Nintendo used to never have stick drift issues and you would think the pro controller wouldn't be either with the larger form factor than the slim form factor of the joy-con controllers. Are you sure it's not a faulty component or simply dust? Notice that stick drift is a symptom and the problem can range from simple to complex. You may not have actual stick drift prognosis but a symptom instead. I would try cleaning or just replace the bad control stick.

Just subbed. I have the 8bitdo for close to a year now. Love the controller. Bought it for the hall effect control sticks so it wouldn't drift. But watching this video I actually learned that you could turn the switch on with the controller which was one of the small gripes I had with it. As soon as you mentioned 'shake the controller' I screamed "WHAT!?" and immediately grabbed the controller and tried it. Couldn't believe the switch turned on. Feel like a fool because I always manually pushed the power on the switch and then pushed the button on the controller to sync lol.

If you keep the adapter inside of the dock and plug the dock into a USB port on your computer it can be your signal hub for when you are playing games on PC.
So if you're like me and keep your tower under your desk then the computer can still get great signal to the controller through the dock.
It really makes switching from the Switch to PC play a ton easier.
Plus you shouldn't plug any 2.4 recievers directly into your PC, as it can, and most likely will cause interferences.

I've had an 8bitdo pro controller for 2 years with the dongle connected straight into my PC under my desk and I've had 0 connectivity issues.
In fact, my mouse, my headset and my controller are all wireless, and all have their own dongles, and none have any issues whatsoever even when using all 3 at the same time.
@@radamstep I think the "interference" they're talking about is instability when there's too many devices plugged in at the same time.
I've had it happen multiple times before when I had 5 devices plugged in. My controller will work, but my keyboard suddenly stops working, then both will work, but then my mic stops working. The system tries to pick and choose which device wants to work first.
The safe limit is 3. Anything more than that should require a powered external hub.
Really goes to show you how well Nintendo did from the GET GO with their controller and confidently stood behind their price. Although - Hall effect sticks with no drift is pretty nice! And I’m personally not a huge fan of the mushy buttons on the Nintendo Pro Controller. But that’s an excellent point about the battery. Also Nintendo wins with the comfort. It’s just amazing how much they got right. I think we really took it for granted.
Agreed! I only recently realized that all the changes I wanted for the Pro Controller were additions, not necessarily improvements on what was already there. The only big change I would want is non-drifting sticks, which speaks volumes for the quality of the controller in just about every other area.

I think even though the 8bitdo ultimate has nearly HALF the battery life of a normal pro controller, the included dock fixes this. Depleted batteries will really only ever be a problem when you constantly forget to put it on there.

Helpful and very well done for a first proper video! Looks like the perfect controller for me, I’ve been eyeing it for awhile but I wanted to make sure it worked for splatoon. I have unusual hands so a more straight shaped controller fits better, the nexigo joypad fits my hands perfectly, but both that and a $15 third party controller has started to drift.

Great review! It is unfortunate Nintendo chose a "lower-quality" standard for the thumbstick but in terms of worn out or drift i think it is understandable regardless even if magnetic or not an issue might occur. What I am particular is the D-pad issue that persist before and I guess it does still? I read that there were new models that Ninentdo seemed to have changed the d-pad design underneath coz i am more into fighting games and my experience from OG SNES/Sega Genesis d-pad's are top tier.
Thanks! Yeah, Nintendo's D-pads have weirdly regressed over several console generations. Like you said, the best D-pads are on their oldest consoles! It's true, later models of the Switch pro controller made a small change to fix how mushy the D-pad is. It really didn't change much, sadly. I've tried to fix it myself by opening up the D-pad and adding more material to the contact point in the middle, which did help a little bit. It's a bummer that they had the best D-pad figured out and then never integrated it into their new controllers.
Great video! Considering my hands are small I don't think I will have issues.
1. I want a symmetrical left right thumb sticks.
2. Micro switches for all buttons, except triggers maybe.
3. 4 back buttons.
4. Swappable sticks with different height.
Combined with all gear it's already have, this will be a real ultimate pro controller.
The lower battery life isn't really a issue since usually you would just put it on your dock after a gaming session anyway and the shape and size, well it just depends if you have bigger or smaller hands so if you have smaller hands this is definitely a must-get.
Got this yesterday because i got royally annoyed by the stick drift on the right analog camera side my nintendo pro controller. Now playing good knowing that the stick drift won't bother me anymore. Still keeping the old pro controller in case gulikit makes hall sensor sticks replacement for it. Gulikit makes those hall effect sticks for this 8bitdo controller in an article i read back so i was convinced to buy this.
Oh yes it most surely is the best controller period especially if you got small hands like me it's the whole kit and caboodle with the phone app

I have bought the 8bitdo Ultimate Controller. For me this is my primaryt goto controller. I play a lot of games that used the d-pad not for movement, but for other independent functions. The Switch Pro Controller's d-pad is such garbage, that I often unintentionally hit multiple functions at the same time. This can be really frustrating, especially in more action heavy games or when it uses consumables. This makes games more difficult to play and only because I am fighting the hardware and not get something challenging in a game.
The d-pad on the 8bitdo just works leagues better and it makes games more fun to play. I can actually immerse myself into a game and not have that immersion broken, because I am fighting unreliable hardware. Even with the shortcommings of the 8bitdo controller has towards the Pro Controller, it still makes playing games a lot more fun. And in the end that is what matters most to me.
Agreed! The Switch Pro D-pad may be the worst D-Pad Nintendo has ever made. Weird that they use a worse design now than they did back on the original NES controller.

I have small hands and the 8BitDo does actually fit my hands better, I do wish the grips where more spread out but It's not too bad for me. I have another 3rd part controller, a Hori wireless one, and that one is too big for my hands. Personally, I love the face buttons on the 8Bitdo, the shape and distance are perfect for when I need to mash two buttons together, other face buttons have sharp edges that hurt my finger. Also, while the Switch pro does have better battery, The 8Bitdo doesn't have bad battery life, it's rated for about 20 hours, which is still pretty good, and so much better than other 3rd party controllers.

I don’t have big hands and I feel the same way about the form factor. the switch pro controller is the most comfortable modern controller that I’m aware of. I can use it for hours with no fatigue and I can’t say the same for any other modern controller. I do like the 8bitdo over the Xbox controller in every way tho, so the 8bitdo has become my dedicated PC controller and I stick to the switch pro for switch games

Though the d-pad is better than the Switch Pro d-pad, I wouldn't say it's the best one out there. I've been using the 8bitdo controller since making this video, and I've gotten used to it in spite of my hand size. What system/games are you going to use the d-pad for?

The reason why I want this ultimate controller it’s because its price point it is actually the cheapest way for me to get a wireless controller for the Nintendo switch with a dock. If I get the official Nintendo pro controller that’s £60 plus the price for whatever I can find for that however, this controller this 8bitdo control for about the same price, £6 found it slightly cheaper gives me a good controller with a dock for the same price. I’m practically getting the dock for free
Plus the ability to use it on PC as our nice bonus but kind of redundant for me because I don’t have a PC but it’s the fact I can if I want to in future
I think the Pro controller (thou it can be used with you PC as well) is a better controll for eith exlusivly or majority use on Switch, with the 8bitduo is a better controller for people thinking about getting a Switch + PC controller who intend on using it on PC a bit more.

No. The ABXY membrane is too thin and rips after couple years use, leaving you with stuck buttons. My experience of 8bitdo is similar to this user quote: "Asked 8bitdo earlier yesterday. The controller also uses the same old 8bitdo membrane pad under the ABXY, L1 and R1. I've been through three 8bitdo controllers and the pads of those buttons tend to rip, especially with more intense games. When they rip, they will get stuck sometimes or won't rise back up at all. The face button pads are easy to replace since they use pads similar to SNES controllers, but I don't know if there's a similar pad for the shoulder buttons and have just scavenged the pads from my older 8bitdo controllers. They apparently used to let you buy replacement pads if you live in the USA, but I don't know if that's true anymore."
That's wild! I hadn't heard to many complaints while researching 8bitdo, but most of my research was around the Ultimate controller...so I guess it makes sense that I didn't see anything about whimpy button membranes, since it hasn't been out all that long.

@@qu3tzal790 Well, that's just it. They are all designed to last a small finite period and break just after warranty. Currently using a latest MS XBOX controller, that I desoldered the rumble motors out of. Seems to be fine for now, but these will be vulnerable to drift like anything else apart from the hall effect sticks. But as I stated, 8bitdo controllers are prone to membrane tears by design. Just need a decent non corrupt manufacturer to come out and storm the market.

The real reason why I bought this controller (even though I already have a pro controller) is because of the D-pad. I love side-scrolling games and playing Tetris, but it's really uncomfortable with the Nintendo D-pad. It's a shame that such a beautiful controller has so many missed inputs with the D-pad.
I really hope that 8bitdo makes a more premium controller. This controller was a step in the right direction and has a ton of value with the Hall effect joysticks, 2.4ghz and Bluetooth modes, customizable, and the dock.
But I agree with you about the form factor of the controller. I have large hands as well and do wish it was more inline with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers ergonomics. The things I would love to see in a more premium controller would be:
Trigger Stops - able to switch between digital and analog triggers (I play more games that don't utilize any sort of analog trigger, so with games that have digital trigger inputs it feels weird and makes inputs feel sloppy. Even with customizing the dead zones, having no immediate thing to hit against is a downside)
Larger and flatter face buttons like the Switch Pro Controller
Larger form factor for my hands, along with the grips being angled like the Pro Controller
I totally agree. After using it for months playing PC games, I haven't needed the analog triggers once. Like you said, the travel on the triggers is a bit irritating if you need to tap them for a single input. Trigger stops would be really nice! Maybe I'll print out some stops to slip in there and calibrate the deadzones to match. There's gotta be a way to rig it up.
Remap the triggers to a slight tap on the ultimate software problem solved…
@@arielguzman9336 It's half a solution, when I need to time trigger presses in succession with a digital trigger it's easy to get into a rythym because you have the end of the trigger to press against.
With an analog trigger with a low threshold for input, it makes it more cumbersome to press just far enough, then release the trigger. Analog triggers also make tapping the button harder because there isn't the feedback that you pressed the button all the way.
Loving my 8bitdo, sticks feel nice and the grip is cool. I use to keep having to replace my Xbox controller for my pc, I wish I knew about this controller before going through 3 xbox controllers haha I only came across this recently because I bought a switch. I think it's worth it.

Sorry for the late response! My glove size is a little over 8.5 inches. The way you measure that is by wrapping a string around your hand just below knuckles across the top part of your palm (the string doesn't wrap around your thumb).

Excellent video. I have small hands and I hate the Pro controller's D-pad so I think I'm going to get the 8bitdo Ultimate. I have the 8bitdo Pro 2, and I love that D-pad, but I prefer the XBox layout. And just in case you haven't already, on your Switch go to System Settings - Controllers and Sensors - Update Controllers. I had 2 brand new Switch Pro controllers and both of them had stick drift out of the box, and the controller update fixed both of them.
@larryvgs Sounds like the Ultimate controller will be a great fit for you! As a heads up though, the version with the Xbox layout doesn't necessarily work with the Switch, I've heard. You might want to research that a bit more if you're planning on using it with your Switch. Sadly, the problem I have with my Pro Controller is that the inside of the stick is deteriorating. I've cleaned it out once, which helped for a little while, but updating it didn't change much sadly.
@@FrameTwo Sorry to hear for you it's a stick wear issue and not an update issue. Not a biggie for me if XBox layout doesn't work with the Switch. I just want a controller with a decent D-pad in the lower left mainly for retro 2D games on emulators, and the best for control so far for me has been the latest XBox controller, but I like the traditional cross D-Pad on the 8bitdo Pro 2 better than the new circular XBox shaped D-pad. I'm a big fan of Montezuma's Revenge, and without a good D-pad those jumps and quick moves are impossible.

Thanks! I've heard of the Wizard Joycons before, and I am intrigued by them. After some cursory research, they do seem to boast a lot of the same features as the 8bitdo ultimate. I didn't realize that they had Hall effects joysticks until now, so I'm intrigued! Also, if they are the same exact shape as a classic GC controller, then I think they would fit in my hands much better than the 8bitdo ultimate. I'll have to look into them!

Fair point. I wouldn't have had an argument when I made the video, but unfortunately the dock stopped working a little under a year after getting it. Now the battery life matters more than I expected!

What a weird design choice for the body of the 8Bitdo Ultimate Controller, especially when you consider that they got the form factor right with the 8BitDo Pro 2. The 8BitDo Pro 2 has a nice curvature to the grip and is very comfortable for large hands. I recommend that controller as long as you don't mind its PlayStation-style analog stick layout and the fact that its analog sticks aren't magnetic.
Thank you for helping me to steer clear of the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller. It looks like it would not be a good fit for my large hands.

I have large hands and wont ever use another controller. Steering clear might be a big loss in your book. Im 6'2" pushing 200 and wear a a size 13 shoe..and also have worked a fair bit of construction.. I can promise my hands are quite large.
Really on the line between this controller and the dkpro 2, both have the hall sensor, but the dk doesn't have back buttons, but the form factor for the dk is better looking. :/
The pro controller has longer shoulder buttons which make it more comfortable to use imo.

The only thing that is making me second guess getting this controller is my big hands, so I would love to see a 3d printed shell.
I actually started making one, but sadly my skills were a bit lacking in 3d modeling to properly finish it. I still plan to do so, but I've started working on other projects to get better at modeling before I go back.
I have the 8BitDo ultimate and my only complaint is the form factor. The grip angle is awful when playing for a long period of time.
Same! I thought it might be fun to try and 3d print a new shell for the controller to make it more comfortable, but it has ended up being extremely difficult to model. It's a fantastic controller otherwise, so I'll keep searching for ways to fix the form factor.
It took me a while to find out why mine didn't wake up the switch.
It can only wake it on bluetooth mode (only after you paired it once), not in 2.4ghz.

I don't really have plans to review any powerA controllers unless they come out with one that has hall effects sticks. This is mostly thanks to my vendetta against stick drift! I know PowerA offers a lot of options, so I'm not really sure where I'd even begin.

How are the buttons in the ultimate and pro controllers compared to joycons? Are they mushy?
The face buttons on both controllers are a little mushier than the joycon buttons. The 8bitdo Ultimate controller's buttons are a bit more tactile than the Pro controller's, and they also have a minutely shorter travel distance compared to the Pro controller's face buttons. Personally, I like the less mushy buttons, but I don't really like clicky buttons like the ones on the joycons. Hope this helps!

Assuming it's the same adapter as the one they sell individually (I'm nearly certain it is), you can connect a Xbox controller to the adapter, but each adapter only supports one controller at a time. I think I understood your question fully, but let me know if I missed something!
Well I brought the ultimate bluetooth yesterday and I'm not sure if it's worth it. since I'm used to playstation layout. Also, I don't like the dpad for the fighting games.
That's rough. I'm used to the controller layout myself, but if you prefer the PlayStation layout, it could be really annoying.
Yeah this isn't even a contest they cost the same and you get way more tailored to the hardcore gamer Hal sensor sticks being the biggest selling point it feels so much more accurate it's much more high quality and you get a dock and app support who cares about nfc and hd rumble that's what I got joycons for anyway I'll take the 8bitdo ultimate and Gulikit king king 2 over a switch pro any day the pro controller is a $70 rip off this late in the game Gulikit joycons Hal Sticks are phenomenal as well I've put them in my personal switch my 3 nephew's switch and my parents switch yeah much better than buying new $80 joycons that'll have the same problem in a few months time
The only reason this is a debate for me is because analog triggers feel so out of place on switch, if the ultimate had digital triggers it would be no contest for me
Analog triggers are certainly a novelty. Not many games use them, and I don't think there is anything on the switch compatible with these triggers. I personally set the dead zone so that I have to move the triggers less than a millimeter for it to register, so there is essentially no travel necessary for the Switch to register a button press. I like the idea of analog triggers, but I agree that they do feel out of place.

If you're referring to the version with the XBox button layout, I don't think the Bluetooth works with the Switch. I'm unsure if it works with the 2.4g adapter plugged in though. The version with the Nintendo button layout works with everything including the Switch. It's a strange difference, but it does look like the Switch compatible one is a little pricier in most stores, sadly.

In my case I have never had stick drift in any of my controllers except the joycons they always have stick drift and then I have to buy a new pair it gets really annoying I mean I figured a way how to fix it but it was just germx and it comes back still and then I have to put more germx I wish I didn't have to do that but I guess that's what I have to do
Joycons are the worst drift-wise. I replaced several of them before deciding it wasn't worth using them. Someone claimed a fix by putting something inside the joycon between the shell and the back of the stick to put pressure on it. I haven't tried it myself, but it might be worth looking into if you still use joycons consistently.

I think it does if you use the 2.4g adapter...if it has a USB port. That said, 8bitdo does make an adapter that allows any of their controllers to connect to the PlayStation classic.

How much latency diference between bluetooth and 2.4 ghz usb?
The 2.4 is a little more responsive. In the tests I did I had a hard time noticing a huge difference to be honest, but I didn't test very rigorously since on either band the controller functioned just as quickly as (if not faster than) other wireless controllers I've tried. I almost always use the 2.4g usb, and I haven't had any issues with latency.

@@Pienterr It may be worth noting you can't use the Gyro in the 2.4 mode due to it using standered Xinput drivers in that mode. Depending on what you intened on using the controller for.

I was so disappointed with this product. It just constantly connects and disconnects (for PC) and no amount of trouble shooting with 8bitdo support fixed it. No such issues with my stock Xbox for windows controller (with the windows wireless adaptor). None of these reviews have mentioned this issue despite it being widely reported on Reddit by many users.

I agree, mine has been unusable as a Switch controller on Yuzu. It works great as an Xbox controller…but it took forever for me to get the Bluetooth to work and it kept dropping…I used the old firmware to get 2.4G to run in Switch mode and I dropped signal a lot too. Via usb c cord it only reads as an Xbox controller. So it has been an awful controller to use for Switch emulation. Not sure how I didn’t see any of this mentioned in the reviews, especially since it is supposed to be a Switch+PC controller
Ironically, I bought this to replace my pro controller that I’ve had since it launched (been getting some drift)…and now I just went back to it for now.

One of the biggest problem with this controller and that you don't mention in your video is the fact that you can't use the gyroscope and the analog triggers at the same time on PC. Either you have your controller detected as a Switch controller with gyro but no analog trigger, or you have it detected as an XBOX controller with analog triggers but no gyro. I even believe that a mode disables the functionality of the other so that the problem can not even be resolved via software.
And for a controller offering both technologies, it's a huge waste, especially knowing that the DUALSHOCK 4 has already offered this functionality for a long time.
That's wild! I hadn't tried a game that supports both so I had no idea. What a weird design decision....

It's not bad. I didn't notice too many instances where I hit multiple directions at once. That said, I didn't test it extensively because it seemed pretty run-of-the-mill. Other 8-bitdo controllers have better D-pads, which is a little disappointing since this is supposed to be the 'ultimate controller'.
Can’t recommend the Ultimate controller enough personally. I have hands a touch on the small side, but I think unless you have huge hands you’re fine.
Buy at a place where it’s able to be easily returned if you want to test, but it’s great.
I couldn't agree more! My opinion of the controller has only improved with use, which speaks volumes considering it doesn't fit in my hands super well.
6:38 Yeah, Flight sim people, as well actual RC pilots who fly things, All use Hall Effect gimbals. Essentially a fancier version of our Hall effect joysticks. They are known to last forever. I know its only "theory" in the gaming world, but if you look outside to the Drone and RC flight world, they have been using hall effects for decades... Also, the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast used them lmao... Hall effects are nothing new.. Just ignored by big Game companies to sell more controllers... Scummy.
I guess my hands mustn't be that big. I have always preferred the kinds of controllers that a lot of Americans seem to have a problem with. I have never loved big chunky Xbox style controllers.
I recently tried a controller that has the same form factor as a Xbox controller, and I can see what you mean. Even though it fits in my hands great, it forces my pointer fingers to rest on the triggers. In games that use the shoulder buttons (I play a lot that use them) I have to uncomfortably stretch my pointer fingers to reach them. I was a little disappointed because I heard that Xbox controllers were the peak form factor. I favor this 8bitdo controller over them by a long shot.

I'm not trying to deny that you feel the controller is so uncomfortable for you because that would be silly.
That being said, I just don't understand what people are talking about with this controller being uncomfortable. It feels almost exactly the same as the Pro controller. The angle change is not so pronounced to make it that drastic.
I do think it's weird though that every reviewer that says that it's uncomfortable says that while showing B-roll of them holding the controller in the most uncomfortable position possible so that they can get a shot of them playing with it.
This is gonna sound weird but did you ever think of switching up your grip?
I've been playing games since the 80s and back then controllers didn't have hand grips. You couldn't "grip" the controller without accidentally hitting a button or 2. You needed to let the controller rest in your hands.
Try this grip:
Ring and pinky fingers wrapped loosely around the grips.
Middle fingers at the back of the controller, supporting the controller.
Index fingers resting on the triggers.
In this position you don't need to "grip" the controller it just rests in your hands and in turn your hands are able to rest.
I play with all controllers with similar "grips" and have no issues. And yes I too have large hands... Not Michael Jordan large mind you, but my glove size definitely is large.
A change in grip may help.
Fair points, but when I try this grip you've mentioned, my thumbs land much higher on the face of the controller than I would like. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your description, but do your fingers line up with the back paddles with that grip? It's definitely possible that the controller is uncomfortable because of my unwillingness to switch grips.
@@FrameTwo my ring fingers sit on the buttons. But because the controller is just resting in my hands I don't have to worry about accidentally pushing them.
I've been using this controller pretty much exclusively for about a month now and the only time it feels even a bit uncomfortable is when I try to hold it like a playstation controller. If that makes sense.

Got the 8bitdo Ultimate and not sure how people keep calling it the best controller ever…maybe if all you’re going to do is play the Switch. I personally bought it to use as a dedicated Yuzu controller for my gaming PC and it has been terrible at that. Googled every possible solution and it has been a downright awful experience for me.
Dang, that sucks! I've been using it almost exclusively for PC gaming and I haven't had many issues. It occasionally disconnects, but that is pretty rare, and it reconnects quickly. What kind of problems are you having with it?
@@FrameTwo Bought it to use for Yuzu emulation on PC. The controller was only recognized as a Switch controller with Bluetooth which dropped signal a lot. Wired and 2.4G worked well but was X-Input and only recognized as an Xbox Controller so gyro didn’t work. I tried the older firmware that allows Switch mode on 2.4G but that dropped signal just as bad as Bluetooth (2.4G worked well with X-input).
Ended up going back to my pro controller that I’ve had since launch. Sure it is getting some drift, but at least it works great as a Switch controller when plugged in or via Bluetooth.

Not having the option to choose if it overrides other inputs is a bit annoying as I can see use cases for it doing and not doing so.

Guys, dont buy this controller if you need to press and use R1 R2 allll the time, it's really small and would hurt your fingers, i use it to play Nioh 2 and man.. my finger hurts, because the Top 4 buttons is small so you need to use your top part of your finger to press it all the time, which you need to press harder than Pro controller since the top button is larger, you can use your 2 part of finger to press it.
