    I own Crockett and Jones. Outstanding craftsmanship and I am thinking of buying a pair of shell cordovan in burgundy, but I am concerned about the lack of color consistency especially in the toes.

    You have a GREAT choice! Quick question, Out of the J. Crew Color 8 and this, which one do you prefer yourself? And which one would you recommend to others? Is there a difference in the build quality and comfort? Also when the time comes to resole Crocket & Jones, where will you get it done? Is the C&J dealer in the US that does it for them? Or your neighborhood cobbler?

      House Ape thanks! I like the build quality of C&j better, but the fit on my Alden’s are better and they have a better resolving option, as you noted. I plan to have my C&j s resoled by a local cobbler

      Thanks very much for your feedback. I have one more question for you, since you have quite a lot of experience with shell cordovan. The only time I've tried on a Shell cordovan boot (and while the look was absolutely gorgeous), it was making a squeaking sound louder than a baby's squeeze toy! I assume it was because it was brand new but how long does that noise last? and is there a way to expedite its departure? Thanks a bunch.

      House Ape I actually haven’t experienced that. What was the brand? I wonder if the fit wasn’t right.

    G'day Sir!
    Thank you for this video, can I ask a question regarding sizing,
    I am 6.5 (normal width) in trickers ( snug/perfect fit)
    I am eyeing a C&J Carlisle in 240 last, which is on eBay,
    The size is 6 EE width,
    Do you think this will fit me well?
    Sincerely,
    Bien

      I wish I could help but I do not have any experience with trickers. Good luck

    Great review. I am a 9.5D US and sized down to a 9D for the BB Peal Cordovans in your review - 240 last. I just ordered some C&J Pembrokes - 341 Last - from London in an 8.5E. Do you think I got the sizing right?

      Yes, I bet you got it right. How did they turn out?

    Could you demonstrate some of your shell cordovan care routines, including what products you use and procedures to go through. These pairs of shoes you have are in fantastic conditions.

    Thanks for your review. Are these Peal & Co boots (240 last) comparable to the C&J branded Harlech boots (341 last)? They look quite similar, though the Peal & Co have the rubber soles. It also looks similar to the Coniston on the 325 last, but the price point is much lower, and if the Peal is based on the 325, BB seems to be making a huge markup.

    Dear Daddyos, could you do an X-year review on the boot? We would like to see how it looks now.

    Dear Daddyos, could you please do an X-year review on this boot? I am considering whether to buy a pair recently, thanks.

    Many thanks for sharing. Just get an exact pair like the one in the video; would greatly appreciate your expert advice on a few questions:
    1) I usually wear Allen Edmond 8E in their Park Ave (not sure about the last). For this particular C&J boots, what size should I go for? The one I have is 8D, but not sure if 7 1/2 D would be better.
    2) How could I know the best fitting for my boots. I have it on my foot, but don't know the criteria.
    3) Are they eligible for C&J's re-crafting service? If not, how can we get a soles and cork replaced?
    Many thanks --

      Hi Mason Wayne,
      1) I'd go for 8D since you wear an "E" width on the AE #1 last. If they seem to be slightly too big, you can always wear thick socks (which is what I do with certain of my winter shoes / boots) or add an insole.
      2) The best way to tell if it fits well is where the ball of your foot falls in the shoe (it should be at the widest point of the shoe), if there is enough toe room, and if there is slippage at the heel.
      3) I believe so, but I have not tried. Worst case, you can find competent cobblers locally or use a mail-order cobbler who will gladly do the work (probably for less than C&J would charge).

      Thank you so much for your answers. They are very informative. I decided to keep the boots in 8D. Given the particular sole this boot has, do you think it is even possible to install shoe taps on the heel?

    • @daddyosreviews
      @daddyosreviews  7 років тому

      Yes, I have seen it done. You will need the cobbler to install them with small screws rather than nails.

    These vs Alden vs Carmina which is 1, 2, 3?

    • @daddyosreviews
      @daddyosreviews  4 роки тому

      I’ve never had carmine, but I would rank C&J equal to or slightly nicer than Alden

    Great video. what's your recommendation for sizing in Alden and C&J for someone like myself with a 11.5D Brannock...?? Thanks in advance!

    • @daddyosreviews
      @daddyosreviews  8 років тому

      +Jordan Antonoff for Alden, it's going to depend on the last. See aldenofsandiego.com/alden-faq/sizing/
      For c&j, it will depend on the last and model. For c&j shoes on 325 last either 11.5d or 11d. For boots on the 325 last, 11d. For other lasts I recommend 11.5 d these are US sizes (c&j for Ralph Lauren or brooks brothers), U.K. Are different

    Any new update on these are they holding up well for you?

    • @rbrown5141
      @rbrown5141 5 років тому

      I am looking at a used pair on eBay they are the same color (burgundy) as yours. However since they are a few years old now they look like a cigar brown, which is unique wanted to see if yours are looking that way now as well?

    • @daddyosreviews
      @daddyosreviews  5 років тому

      Hi Robert, I actually don’t have these anymore. I could not get the right fit due to my foot shape vs the last these are made on. So, after much internal debate, I decided to let these go. I have noticed that they generally turn a great shade of brown though, so good luck!

    Great vid! I have Aldens and AE (Dalton boot) but I would love to try the CJ Skye. Do you have any Trickers boots?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @daddyosreviews
      @daddyosreviews  8 років тому

      +Mason R good eye - they are very similar to the skye - but they are the "lindrick" marketed by Ralph Lauren and made by C&j. No trickers in my current lineup, but may try them sometime.

    you should not lace your boots that way. you're pulling the leather between the eyelets and therefore damaging it. go for army lacing instead.
