Always consummate results from the master craftsman. If you want boots to present themselves as quintessential British with uppers bar non then they deserve leather footbed solid shanks and a midsole of quality leather and an outsole FM JR along with solid brass toe plates split welts and leather stacked heels with brass nail flourish and darkened brown leather and artisan stamps! Bedo...Steve...you represent the cobbling craft and leather works repair to the Grand Master Level....you should be a member in the British Guild. Or perhaps there should be a Utube Guild for Cobblers. You have my vote for first class standards and execution. Thanks for the Video. The boots are fit for an Officer and a gentleman!
Excellent job. Just a tip for any of your viewers who are thinking of buying Crockett and Jones or Tricker’s footwear - they can be a little snug, particularly for slip-on styles. It’s worth paying attention to the size guides on their websites as they may recommend going a half size up from normal. Crockett actually include instructions to measure feet and if customers are unsure, they suggest sending them the measurements for them to advise.
Slip on styles need to fit a little snug. Once they stretch you can't just do the laces up a little tighter so they should initially be tighter than a lace-up shoe or a boot.
Steve, I'm from the UK I have a pair of crockett and jones and their repair shop at the factory told me this cannot be done to my shoes that they made unbelievable. Keep up the great work.
Why would I love your work? It’s mad. Maybe because my wife’s family, in the Victorian era, were shoe and boot makers from Kettering in Northamptonshire. Keep it up, Steve.
Great work Steve…loved the shirt & tie in the teardown stage. Grateful that you showed the little ramp to stich over the cut out for the French tips. Gerry
Great job, another fantastic video. You are getting real good with the camera. Those closeups of that ramp on the toe so the machine would not get stuck were awesome. Another example of the amazing things you can do and how your experience has made you the expert that you are.
Steve: The small 'ramp' when stitching is exactly why I love this channel. Innovation or problem solving is key to any successful business or project. Very clever. Simple solution. Thanks.
Those are some really beautifully made boots and by changing the size to fit the customers wider foot along with the awesome dyed JR soles and brass tips just put these over the top SPECTACULAR!!! TYFS
Mr. Bedo, Steve I am from Oklahoma and have enjoyed your UA-cam videos for over a year. I will be 71 this year when you release a new video I will talk Cowboy boots with you and people who follow you on UA-cam. Best wishes and blessings for your videos you’re my favorite of the few I follow, Sincerely Doc ( nickname from Vietnam service)
Steve, you are really an excellent craftsman, you pay full attention to the repairs, making an extra effort to make the repair really high-quality. Congratulations, you are truly an outstanding example of someone who loves his job and at the same time knows the job inside out. If by any chance you read the comments, best regards and keep it up.
I've got the second winter season on my Danners that you recrafted. They are holding up wonderfully. I would have been on my second recraft from the Danner's shop. It was well worth the wait. It's such a joy to lace them up every morning. Hammer Time!
Great video of you upgrading those boots. I was surprised that you were nervous about stitching the soles considering your level of expertise. It's actually nice to hear you admitted that to your audience rather than playing it cool. Thanks.
As always a great job. I'm very impressed on your telephone ediquete.on requesting for Time and waiting for a response before putting the phone on hold..as a former customer service manager.i seen it to often where I'm asked to hold and before I can say anything they just put me on hold..shows me that they don't really care.. again great job.nice to seeing someone putting pride in his work.
Well that's cheered me up. In bed suffering from Civic, yes it's still about. Wasn't sure it was possible to add value to high quality boot, but you certainly show high quality hand work can do that
Steve, cold water is use for inflammation while hot water or heat is used for blood flow and helps the bodies muscles relax, according to my family doctor.
Happy to see you work on a pair of C&J and that they're put together reasonably. I spent a long while trying to figure out a good middle ground with shoes and have am very happy with this brand. Have bought many pairs. They become comfortable quick, price point is ok and the service in their main London shop is very, very good. This would be my #1 British shoe brand recommendation. I have the same pair of Coniston and would recommend them. The only thing is that this pebble grain leather may not be the best for a shaft as it never really becomes super soft, so it takes a long while in the beginning to make the shaft a bit pliable and not awkward walking down stairs.
The uppers of these boots looks just like my father's RAF 1960s boots. I mean, identical! He used to spit and polish the toe caps until they looked like glass. I seem to remember he used a hot spoon... 🤔🙄😳 Great video. 😁
Great work as always Steve. I really love Crockett and Jones products, it's always great the rare times you have them on the channel. Nice to see the internal materials quality is still top notch in them
Beautiful job, really amazing. My 13yo CJs have gradually gone from width E to G over the years. If I knew then what you can do I would have send them to you immediately 👍👍👍
Well, I'm VERY upset that you used a new utility knife blade.....you deprived me (and yourself) of triggering people and having them lose their minds.LOLOL. Great fix on the boots!! Have a great day my friend.
Steve I love crocket and Jones shoes a great English quality shoe company as are many others a great repair as always the c&j brogues I had in 82 lasted till 2002 then not knowing a cobbler and the fact you could send them back to the factory for repair I dumped them in the trash 😢 and started again 😮
As far as the stress in your fingers or hands during sewing, you might want to soak your hands or place them in a heated moist hand towel for a few minutes ( 10 min) it can help to relax the muscles & tendons. Then you can exercise your fingers and hands, gently. Then again if there is swelling then you can try COOL water soak for few minutes. See which feels better. BTW don’t think I’ve ever seen you with a tie on. You look very distinguished & handsome. The boots turned out fantastic. Love the fact that they were made out of QUALITY material.
If the Rapid-E is a "crapshoot", what dictates when you use it over another machine? Does it do a better job on certain soles, or jobs? I imagine you have a reason for sticking with it? Cheers
That's beautiful clean work Steve... and all planned to succeed. Doing my brother's C&J cap toes next, resole, re-heel and sand down some cracks that the previous owner probably caused by only using wax... and caking it on the vamps! They have thick horrible Toppy type things on the outsoles at the moment that ruin the look and function of the shoe. I'd imagine the outsoles were shot so these abomination were stuck on.
You warm your hands before working and ice afterwards. You want the fingers and joints warm before you start and you ice to prevent swelling afterwards to start the recovery process.
I aways wondered what was the outcome of that competition! Congrats on winning "the gold"; did you do a follow-up video? As always, fantastic job, Steve! 👍💞
It’s pretty awesome how you’ve kind of backed your way into being a fully skilled shoe maker over the years. I know, I know “I only do repairs.” 😛
Good work!
I like that you always apologize for being so busy. I always say...cry when the phone doesn't ring...not when it does. Another beautiful job.
Thank you for sharing your families history. People understand one another better when you can appreciate each culture.

The last shape can behave a bit different depending on the style with CJ. Im a 9.5 in boots and derbies but had to have a loafer in a 10..

@@ahpadt same thing here, I have 9.5 Grasmere but just sent them back because they are too small. Just tried a pair of Coniston and 9.5 was perfect

Great job as always man!! Thanks to show us all your videos.... they're addictive. I follow you from Spain.
Those boots are true works of art, Steve!
Great work Steve…loved the shirt & tie in the teardown stage. Grateful that you showed the little ramp to stich over the cut out for the French tips. Gerry
I loved that he shows us all those amazing tips and tricks of his trade!!! It really demonstrates how much of a professional Steve really is IMHO.
What a great job. This is what ARTISANS do. Outstanding!
You are a true cobbler. A craft that is going away. Keep it up.

Another one! Steve, the customer put the boots in the right hands. Your craftsmanship is unbelievable.💪🏼👊🏼🤙🏼
Beautiful job Steve!
Very nice to see new boots of good construction and good materials. Witness marks are key for alignment on re-assembly. Very nice work there Kemosabe.
Loving the green stitches, my man! Great work!
Nice boots. Thanks for talking us through the process of resizing them.
Great video of you upgrading those boots. I was surprised that you were nervous about stitching the soles considering your level of expertise. It's actually nice to hear you admitted that to your audience rather than playing it cool. Thanks.
Another amazing job Steve
Thanks Steve. Beautiful Boots. Love the Triumphs
Everytime I watch theses videos I am surprised everytime how much is involved in construction of shoes

OMG, they look like an absolutely brand new pair!!! Gorgeous!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I absolutely love those boots. Great job once again from the master craftsman himself.
Loved and missed the hammertime ornament!!
Yet again you knocked it out of the park. Great project Steve, those great looking boots are solid for years of wear. Shine on.
Didn’t know you could resize shoes! Good to know! Nice looking boot! Hugz, Tree

I like it when you comment, good or bad parts of a shoe. I enjoy your program.
Good job!! Lets continue!

Superb
Steve you are an awesome cobbler, and cute to "boot" pun intended.
More stories please
I would like a pair of Crockett & Jones. I am dreading late spring / summer though, as I'll have to stop wearing my boots as much.
Steve use's a fresh blade? What is this world coming to?😰😅😰😅 Great transformation.
Wow, as new! 👍👏👊
I aways wondered what was the outcome of that competition! Congrats on winning "the gold"; did you do a follow-up video? As always, fantastic job, Steve! 👍💞
Good content. 👍
Hahahaha hey man thanks for the sign! 🍺
*DAD JOKE OF THE DAY*
7:35 Cobbler says, while stitching a welt: “This is my _last_ one.”
nice.
Man, I'm thinking that Crockett & Jones may be better than my Aldens.
All dressed up!
The goat
A new blade, well there goes the budget.
