This was great! Came here looking for something to send a friend who hasn't been doing this for 20 years saw a couple by random people that just move so slow I couldn't stand it found this one and it even included every little nuance of suggestion I was going to make thank you well done.

    THANK YOU!
I needed to see the "finger work" on how you do it... to see where I was going wrong!
Was able to get it right after just 2-3 connectors!!!

Your video saved me a lot of hassle. When I built our house, I wired it for POE security cameras. Turns out when I got to the 12th camera, it wouldn't work. I feared the worst, thinking I crimped or damaged a wire somewhere within the walls or underground conduit. Thankfully, it was just the crimp where it plugs into the NVR that was bad. I followed your video and it works great now. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video! I'm going to school for a Network Administration degree and I was told to look up how to make the Cat-5 Cable. Funny enough, I actually already knew how. I had to do this for an engineering job I worked for back when I was doing assembly work. A great refresher though! Love the video ending also, very unique!

If the blue insulation doesn't go under the wide plastic part, remove the cable and shorten the wires, until it does. It is important for the outer insulation to go into the plug, as it is used to secure the whole cable to the jack / plug.

That crimping tool he's using has 2 blades in the handle. If you use it to cut the wires from step 1, it will be the perfect length for the connector.

Great video. I would like to say that it looks like the crimp tool has a set of parallel blades on it that could be used to do the trimming of the cable instead of having to use a separate pair of scissors.

Thanks for the tut, just checking if I'm doing something wrong lol. Turns out I just need more practice x)
P.S. I don't want to be _that_ person... But you definitely can throw out scissors and rotary tool and just do it with crimper (+connectors and wire) as the tool usually already has the cutting/stripping razor blades on it. Of course it will be less comfortable, but I don't want people to think that you need lots of tools to begin with this process. I believe there's some videos out there where people crimp rj-45 with a flat screwdriver 😆

Can you please explain me why the color code is exactly like this? I tried to do O+O / G+G / B+B / BR+BR and it came out only with 90mbps speed, but if i'm following the correct color code it gives me almost gigabit. Just curious why the blue has to be mixed with green and green with blue. Thanks in advance :)

      Signal crosstalk on the conductors.
The main difference between cat5e and cat6 is that cat6 has thick plastic shielding inside the cable separating the conductor pairs. The goal is minimizing crosstalk.

Hi, i have a question, i have a new analog Dvr (bnc connectors in the back means analog?) ., connecting the camera to dvr With baluns that have full RJ45 connectors for video and power , WOULD making a test connecting with a **CrossOver** Erthnet cable *accidentally* for a minute or two, would it damage any equipment ?? , the baluns at either end ? , the Dvr ? , the camera ? ., you know, doing that is crossing video and power in the loop. Please help ! Thanks !!

😂😂 absolute pain in the ass. Over $100 tied up in crimper , cable, and ends. The wire kept breaking or coming out of order. $16 for a 75 foot cable from Amazon and just rolled up the extra.
    Never again
