i'm having fun just watching random youtubers and seeing how they deal with the combat. everyone has something different which i find great and seeing people use skills i never used, or using the same skills but in a different ways, is infinitely satisfying to me.
@@GameBreakerGod there is so much. my simple monkey brain only clicked a few things on my playthrough, like rifting out of longer animations like flare breath into a Titan punch as a counter or setting up satalite to shoot spam like Nero's summond swords during DT as i do some other combo's. or popping impulse before air combo keeps them up longer then explode them during air juggle to boot them up some more then pheonix dash up to slam down with the helmbreaker or titan slam if not extending the air combo more. or my personal favourite "face fck" combo of berserker ring, Wykes and Impulse. shreds will gauge and looks flashy as fck while doing it too. if my combo illiterate brain can come up with stuff like that, then combo people like yourself will be godlike with this game given time.
@@godsplayingfield freaking hell that stuff sounds like fun lol can you link me to a post of some of the combos you’ve been doing I’d like to see it!! oh bro you’re all in for a treat when I drop the combo mad there’s just three eikons I’ve mastered that’s Odin Shiva and Garuda so those will have as many cool set ups as possible
@@GameBreakerGod i aint an uploader (cause internet shit as is) so i never post anything. but a vid i've seen of a great combo is Gamer JayZ on youtube, who posted a fantastic combo vid (though i just saw it tbf lol) the Ramuh/Torgal/Zan combo at the start is my personal fav just for how stupidly high the enemy went lol i barely got used to Garuda and never really use Shiva so i am really looking forward to seeing that! i wouldnt say i mastered any Eikons, but my mains are Pheonix, Bahamut and Odin with a bit of Ramuh sprinkled in. the lightning rod ability is deceptively fcking awesome.
Another way to cancel out of arm of darkness real quick is to just.. switch eikons. You can switch to another eikon, use the garuda claw for an air combo, come back to odin and still get the odin riposte thing Just randomly happened with me when trying to no damage the liquid flame, got a burning blade parry, used downthrust, went over to odin and bam, got that special punish accidentaly.
This is what i do too. I switch out Odin for Garuda to do an air combo then go back to Odin to do the finisher. Glad to know other people thought of the same approach. I love this game.
I LUV this skill. IT can cancel ANY action, that in a game with action combat is a godsend and I abuse it like crazy AND u can shorten the cooldown. They did an AMAZING job with adding that skill.
This is literally just a little glimpse of what this move can do for us I’ve started working on my favourite combo set ups and mannnn oh man rift s is a must have
So I tested a bit and I think it’s not Rift Slip that extended the Odin punish, if you parry an enemy the Odin punish goes for a very long time. You can be outside the time freeze of the parry and still land the punish, and it’s super lenient but still this looks cooler. Edit : I also found that you don’t need to do any dodging or magic you just need to press circle then X+square. The animation skip itself when you do an attack afterwards
I’m not sure if you noticed but there’s a tech with ramuh if you stick with a lightning ball it prevents enemies from flying away with push back skills.
This damn game beckons me. It's always calling my name! Keep showcasing the sublime gameplay that comes with this genre bro. I'm literally exhausted defending this combat system from detractors that say it's so simplistic and has no depth. I'm not expecting everyone to have the muscle memory and dexterity that can take years to of experience with the genre to fully master, but damn... people gotta abandon that square button every once in awhile. I'm consistently surprised of the seemingly endless possibilities with this combat. I don't have Odin yet, but Shiva IMO may be the most OP as of right now with her dash that can freeze opponents in midair by gliding underneath them. Or after ignition while airborne and you dash forward over them, and have torgal kick them upwards as soon as they hit the ground, right into the trap. So many different combinations that you can follow up with. I also really like Bahamut's impulse mixed in with thunderstorm, heatwave, rooks gambit etc...
Anyone remember that kh2 boss fight people said was impossible till someone told them to try blocking making it one of the easiest fights in the game. I'm feeling that energy when it comes to this game for real
Well first off good video. I had no idea that rift slip will extend the enemy stun from parry. That's very useful to know. However, the majority of the video is spent explaining how to cancel Arm of Darkness (AoD) animation and I'm having a hard time understanding the advantage of doing this. From what I can tell, what's actually canceling AoD unsheathe / sheathe animation is the basic magic attack, rather than dodge, like was stated in the video. The thing is, while magic attack cancels the animation of AoD, that animation doesn't actually lock your character in any way to begin with. So you're able to AoD + jump, doge, attack, and swap eikons and use an ability, all without any trouble. So what then, is the purpose of doing this complicated input to cancel AoD animation when it doesn't need to be canceled to perform any other action? Am I missing something? For the record, it does look cool in a glitchy kind of way. Was that the intention? What I've found cool is that you can parry > rift slip > eikonic ability > AoD. Gives your abilities a really cool looking finisher, like how you did in the video near the end. It worked even with Gigaflare which surprised me.
If you have melee charged while you’re in the air with arm of darkness (it will have to be charged during another animation like charged magic or else you will just do the dark aerial attack) and you release it, you will teleport straight to the ground and then activate zantetsuken (rift slip will cancel this obviously). I feel like you could do something cool with that, but the arm of darkness charge time takes quite long so it’s a bit tricky
I always wondered why people said Rift Slip was soo good & after trying it myself, man this is soo broken that it is fun to get out of any situation while also setting up for another style combo. Sick tech.
i switched my loadout to the same thing you have and good fuckin lord, you can get zantetsuken soooo fast, and being able to constantly string stuff together with rift slip is absurd. nice vid
@3:22 it's an animation cancel; that's the term you were thinking of. It's a cool tech...you're basically drifting the rift. A Zan-tech-drift, if you will.
Amazing tech! I’m wondering can you pre charge your magic and as soon as you parry let go and press circle? The charged magic shot kinda pushes you back so I wonder if it can act as a dodge by itself and cancel the arm of darkness animation
Why do you cancel out of rooks gambit and not just use the move instead? If you’re going to dodge might as well do it normally right? Unless there’s a benefit to it that I’m not aware or for aesthetic purposes, just curious
@@jerm5466 but isn’t that the same as just getting a perfect dodge? Why would someone go thru the extra steps of using rook gambit and canceling it if they can just perfect dodge and save it
I was experimenting with steel counter and noticed something interesting. You are only able to switch out of arm of darkness mode and get regular sword attacks between doing the steel counter IF the enemy has a will gauge, If it's just a normal enemy it won't work. Dont know if this is intended or a bug.
Thanks for the info but I feel like most of the video talks about the party and Arm cancel. Was hoping to know more about how Rift Slip works, especially with other abilities.

Yeah you can with the accessory swift shot! This reduces magic charge time by 0.2 sec so yeap

A but I do own a scuff controller (back attachments)
