Found out cost more to ship here vs buying new. Told like 5000 dollars to move a bedroom set from long island New York to Puerto Rico. Found out just buy new. Vs move it from long island to Puerto Rico
Yes, that was my same experience. I sold everything and bought new stuff here. All of the homes that I have rented are furnished, so I only bought a more comfortable couch and bed.
Hi Jen....I just stumbled upon this video after recently subbing. It's very interesting and informational and I thank you for the content. I will check out the other links you have shared as well. I hope to be moving - retiring from West Coast USA to PR sometime in the next 2 years. Will be looking for more information on buying a home, etc. in the coming months. I'm curious to know if you could compare and contrast Palmas Del Mar and Cabo Rojo. I've never been to PDM, but have stayed in the Combate area of CR several times and really liked it. Gracias otra vez!
Glad you safely moved to Cabo Rojo. I used La Rosa del Monte Moving Company when I moved to the island and was very pleased. I payed around $2,000 something to ship 23 boxes from Chicago to Puerto Rico and that included the insurance. My parents used that company too, over 43 years ago when they relocated to the island.
For anyone moving from the mainland US to PR, check U-Pack. I used them to move from California to Florida, and then I shipped a large amount of furniture to Ponce. They are very reliable and great customer service. They bring a trailer to your house, you pack it. You get a base price for the first, say 15 feet and an additional charge per lineal foot thereafter, so you only pay for the space you use. Once it is packed to your satisfaction, they come pick it up and my shipment took only about a week and a half from Tallahassee to Ponce, door to door. There is just a brief customs form to fill out and you unload the trailer. Cost was about $4700. Still, compare shipping costs, of course. U-Pack just makes it very convenient, and you can, and should pack it to the ceiling of the trailer and cushion it all well.
I've been living here and paying off my RS Camaro Convertible that's currently still on the mainland, and because it's a very low mileage car I have owned and maintained, and the excise taxes have dropped to a reasonable amount I'm willing to pay, I'll be moving it here. Because Delta's weight limits for luggage flying in are higher than departing, I loaded up inexpensive luggage every time I flew in, moving clothes and keepsakes, but I started with an inflatable mattress and a folding chair and table when I closed on my house, after living in a furnished condo in Condado. Now I've got so much stuff, too!
I am moving to Puerto Rico in April. I was told by an official that the import tax on my 2 year old Tesla would be $13,680. Is the excise tax different than this? No, mentioned that an electric car was not taxed. I decided to sell my Tesla instead of ship it.
Electric Vehicles do not have an excise tax. Here is more information about shipping vehicles and a link to estimate taxes (on non EV). jentheredonethat.com/moving-and-shipping-items-to-puerto-rico/

Me and my brother received our vaccine shots so my brother when he gets time to get away from the hospital he is going to visit them quickly and I'm going to try to sneak down there for a weekend I get my second shot January 11th and he gets his shot his second shot a week after that. I can recommend you a lady from Manhattan who ended up moving her practice down there for Dentistry her name is Zully de Jesus she's in the Buena Vista building across the street from the mall I believe she's on the second floor. Super Nova, they are working hard on drug trafficking along the coasts from those who contribute with nothing but drugs and being a public burden. Eventually, it will be better, just stop the plague and curse of the island for a better Puerto Rico.
You moved to an area that's far from the Metro Area. Why? But the West is less expensive and the people is more friendly. No Best Buy and no Costco available (if you need those).

Welcome to my neighborhood my parents live nearby there on route 102 mile marker 24 in a newer development. Thank you for the information on the shipping I was trying to ship something from Buffalo New York through Amazon and it ended up coming back to me a month later. I told my mom to stop the UPS guy to ask him exactly what's the name of the development or the street but I have an address I don't know where else to ship everything. I think the Dentistry is called dream smiles. Lots of people from Western New York live in that area you'll see lots of Sabres and Buffalo Bills fans and also some giant fans over the winter you need to go to my favorite beach buye beach
Oh, I know exactly the area where your parents live, it is so beautiful there! Thanks for the Dentist recommendation! See you at Beach Buye!
Palmas is a beautiful place Why do you move to Cabo Rojo?
I have a new project on the West coast.
@@JenThereDoneThat thanks Jen for your videos. I moved from Michigan to San Juan and i am going to look into a condo at Palmas. I like the bike paths and open feel there but worry about being too far from San Juan when family come and visit...
Yeah nice.........nice.........n..I....c...e............real nice.....
Thank you!
Did you buy a home or are you in a resort type place
Now you’re talking, Palmas is not the real PR....good luck in Cabo Rojo, beautiful pueblo. 💙💙🇵🇷🇵🇷💙💙
how is the crime there
Super Nova, they are working hard on drug trafficking along the coasts from those who contribute with nothing but drugs and being a public burden. Eventually, it will be better, just stop the plague and curse of the island for a better Puerto Rico.
You moved to an area that's far from the Metro Area. Why? But the West is less expensive and the people is more friendly. No Best Buy and no Costco available (if you need those).
I avoid the metro area anyway, except for certain Doctor's appointments.
Sweetie the valume is too low

@@JenThereDoneThat Jen it's not about hate. Once you teach yourself the history of the struggle perhaps you will understand. Jen you are not the first or the last who invite others as if PR is a free for all. Its not until you find out adios.
This is great! Would love to hear more about Rincón!
