Its just to show how much more bloodthirsty Zira was compared to Scar's goal of just being King.
They did a good job disguising the original with all the humorous interjections by the two other lion children. If you just pay attention to the lyrics and ignore the kiddy comedic relief, its pretty underrated and beautiful

Oh, wow, only having one singer and therefore reworking the siblings’ lines for Zira so that Nuka saying “Sleep, you little termite! I mean, precious little thing...” becomes Zira weirdly sincerely saying “Sleep, my little termite - I mean, precious little thing...” is still weirdly fitting, considering despite all the attention and investment she gives Kovu, she actually kinda sees him strictly as a means to an end and basically has zero investment in him as a person. While she realizes she’s been a terrible mom when Nuka dies... she just scapegoats Kovu instead of actually extending that to him, too, even.

Hercules would like a word.
Generally speaking villain songs arent very restrained and can go intense, but hero songs tend to be mostly tied to the hero's journey which makes them somewhat more predictable.
That being said there are AMAZING hero/heroine songs that are easily a match for villain songs. Make a Man Out of You, Go The Distance, I Won't Say I am in Love, From Zero To Hero, Part of Their World, Remember Me, Let Me Show You The World, I Won't Be Silent... I could go on forever.

Morgan Gobin Sister's a big Kung Fu Panda fan, so I ended up watching some behind the scenes content and the guy who played Tai-Lung is described by the people from the studio to be one of the friendliest people they worked with during production, so yeah, it's not beyond plausibility

This kind of stuff is in a lot of the older Disney movies. They deal with a lot of really dark themes, in some pretty damn subtle ways.
In the original ending she refuses help and kills herself, smiling maniacally as she falls to her death. Her last words when offered help? Take a swing at her grin and said "No, never!"

The 15+ seconds of silence at the end really adds to the uneasiness one feels when listening to this. Like, the song was already disturbing due to how insane Zira is. Then the cover adds to the insanity. And the silence at the end gives a sense of forboding.
Especially because Jon usually ends his videos with a message thanking the fans for watching, or a short preview of another song that you can check out.
That menacing evil laugh at the end is creepy yet awesome. He'd be the best Disney villain in any movie ever.
