It would be nice to see this soundtrack updated into the Unity ports of No Rest for the Living for all to enjoy. The expansion pack deserves to have it's own soundtrack instead of reusing Doom 2's ost in my opinion.
I finished NRFTL for the first time thanks to Doom + Doom II. I loved the wad and decided to listen this community midi. Each song is amazing. Staccato Slaughter has to be my favorite song, it slaps.
It might just be me(i'm stupid), but The Last Gatling Gun Rodeo reminds me of motoi sakuraba a little, especially 17:50 onwards. It's a cool track, cammybanana did a fantastic job.
This soundtrack is awesome and now affects the way I play NRFTL. Decino’s track makes me play the first level slowly, as I am in deep thought. Your own intermission screen is very relaxing. But now one of my favorite things to do is charge up Hell Mountain and storm the castle with Crammybanana’s adrenaline pumping track (and I’ve died quite several times because of foolish mistakes). Then I always take the secret exit in Hell Mountain so I can play the big fight in March of the Demons to the energetic music there (again I’ve died several times making foolish mistakes as I was caught up in the thrill).
"Staccato Slaughter" is an extremely fitting title. Once again, you absolutely crushed this, this time more in terms of pulling together so much talent
Nice to see NRFTL getting some love. On the Xbox this was actually my first introduction to "custom" Doom levels as I never played Final Doom back in the day.
God you really didn't skip a beat between the Master Levels midi pack and the NRftL midi pack did you? Now I'm curious if someone could pull off a Thy Flesh Consumed midi pack considering that also just reuses the main game's music, just like ML and NRftL did?

I love Dry Gulch so much! Starts out slow, but then ramps up significantly! Fantastic MIDI pack to everyone involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep! I wanted to do that old DOOM tradition of "taking inspiration from" (read: stealing) riffs from heavy metal. The starting riff is also based heavily on "She's Lost Control" by Joy Division. Since it's not a commercial release I can say that and not get sued, right? 😅
@@RogueAkai Immediately thought of Wasted Years and "Nightmare" by Crooked X with that riff, but I had no idea the opening riff was Joy Division! All I do know is that I need to hear more of these types of tracks in Doom MIDIs going forward. Absolute jam!
Level 2 and 8's drum made my face go >:c (in a good way, if you are a metal head you know exacly what i mean) also i love how 8 turns into black metal right after.
All done with that first playthrough. This expansion pack definitely does the levels better than the stock Doom II music. I'm gonna have Unbearable Torture stuck in my head for weeks now.
Level 2 and 8 are the best because they actually fit to doom. I'm not a fan of all the midis not fitting to hell and doom at all (many megawads have so happy music somehow) Level 2 also has a bit of a TNT feel. Could totally be on a TNT map I really like the intermission too though. It reminds me also of TNT's intermission
I really love this soundtrack! I was wondering if I could send you a .cfg file that I set up to get the .ogg soundtrack working on Crispy Doom. I tried creating an account on Doomworld but the website fails to send the confirmation email to me.
I remember playing no rest for the living map 1 when I only had the demo of doom 2 on the 360 good times and a fun deathmatch map i know it like that back of my hand
I don't know how you do it, Peter, but you manage to combine the ferocity of TGH's percussion with the lofty feel of stewboy's strings and establish a harmony between those two opposites. Not just here but in many of your other tracks. Is it a conscious effort or does it just come out on its own?
@@PeterLawrenceYT Wait wot? You never heard of Eric Baker or Stuart Rynn (respectively)? You're pulling my leg, 🅱eter... If this is legit, then we got a case of convergent evolution. Which is neat.

This is fantastic! I replayed No Rest For The Living with the new soundtrack and it was awesome! I know the Doomworld thread has the link to download the midis but is there any way to get the music in MP3 format?
It's a shame the new official port didn't incorporate the community music packs into the game... The Master Levels, Plutonia and NRFTL would have really benefitted from it.
Whoa, this is amazing! Being a lot newer to Doom than most people here (probably), I haven't played many custom wads yet, but this'll certainly be next, complete with new music! Also, I've been meaning to try my hand at composing, seeing as how I've been a musician for a good chunk of my life. What program did you use to make your tracks?
Peter Lawrence hm, I just looked at the price tag, and that’s, uh, a bit pricey, like you said. I’ll probably find another program, but thank you anyways!
@@admiraltaiga1844 Otherwise you might want to try sekaiju (another free software). That's what I used to make my songs and I've learned how to use it the month before the release, mostly by watching James Paddock's streams on twitch.

I feel the urge to give this pack a shot, after always hearing "Into Sandy's City" in a majority of the maps....
It only plays in Maps 5 and 7 in NRFTL, far as I'm aware, but yeah, can understand why you need a change of pace.
