I believe it was a remake of a southern movie. I think it deserved more sucess as it dealt with some serious issues. Marital rape and abuse is no joke.

I am happy that the nepotism magic has worked on the industry, with talent getting to pedal forward after a lot of hurdles- rajkumar rao finding stardom and popularity after 6-7 years, vicky kaushal after 8 years, karthik after 7-8 years, nawazuddin siddiqui after 11 years and ayushman khurana after 6 years! can't measure the happiness i feel given the patience and "junoon" each of them nurtured to stick around and keep trying! each of them are self made! way to go !!
SRK became successful right from his first movie and so are PC and DP. What do you have to say about that? Talent bhi honi chahiye and also the audience should be able to relate to the characters and the acting of the actors. Also you have to be at the right time with the right project. Irrfaan Khan and SRK have debuted on TV at around the same time and migrated to BW also around the same time but Irrfaan unfortunately took like 20 years to get a main lead role in a mainstream- ish movie. That’s why Ranbir, Ranveer and Ayushmaan have more commercial success than a RKR or a Vicky!

This is REAL struggle. 5 plus hours commuting both ways just to audition and getting humiliated. Changing cloths at a train station. Not having money for a portfolio and cropping images. A 2,500 rupees cheque to bring a big smile to his face and keep the fire and hope going. This compared to star kids who get an assistant director post with Dharma, or SLB, or some other bg name production house and then call it get a launch. LOL

More important than knowledge about film making, is to know acting! Go to acting school to learn acting and emote with your eyes and body language. Yes you can learn being on set, but being an AD or responsible for maintaining continuity from one scene to another will not help you become a successful actor. One doesnt necessarily need to go to acting school or theatre to be a good actor BUT any of these 'star' kids who start as ADs for Dharma and then go on to get launched by the same production house definitely . The 'star' kids like Hrithik, Ranbir, Shahid and a few more are a rare breed and they have also struggled before becoming the good actors they are today. Can you name handful of 'star' kids in recent times who have become or are good to great actors?
