Fun fact: Jim in his Twitch Stream claimed that he was eliminated because producers wanted him to start drama with Robert, but he said "fuck no" and producers wanted him out for that. Seems like he gave up on the show after viewing this more of a drama show than a cooking show.

    - Also we only saw what was on camera and on film. We never saw what happened behind scenes
    - Not only that , when Red team lost two services in a row , Ramsay mentioned that “red tean you guys shrink” , and put Micheal to that team , and mentioned the lack of leadership of Chris

Donya was on thin ice leading up to that nomination after she struggled to say that Sandra was the weakest chef on the red team during the final 10 and Chef Ramsay let her know that. Donya was a better cook than Jason but her lack of confidence during the tail end of her run and her failures to delegate her own course during charity night doesn't really translate to being a head chef, which is what caused her to be eliminated.

Before judging what constitutes an unfair elimination I think most viewers need to realize that this show isn’t just about who has the best services or who cooks the best dishes. They are competing for a head chef job to run a kitchen, not a line cook job. There are way more intangibles like leadership, creativity, communication, work ethic, composure, confidence and the ability to bounce back from your mistakes that are needed to have success. Just because someone is decent in service doesn’t mean it’s automatically an unfair elimination if they are lacking or not showing any growth or improvement in other critical areas necessary.

Keith: I still think about this elimination constantly on why the hell it even happened.
    Brad: Similar to Chris honestly.
Louross: I mean, he deserved a black jacket over Matt definitely. This elimination confuses me because he got no last words, and then there was the useless team swap again.
Giovanni: I personally don't really see what was so unjustified about it because it seemed like he kind of gave up after the whole "dickface" moment.
Jim: I think the real Jim has talked about what happened on why he got sent home. Still a pretty confusing one.
Siobhan: Consider she had been nominated I believe 3 times in a row at that point, vs Fran's 5th overall, I constantly flip back and forth who deserved to go home more, but I don't really think it was that unfair as it was pretty obvious whoever survived was gonna be next.
Vinny: If you watch the entire season, Vinny pisses off Ramsay NUMEROUS times, so I feel like him going home before the black jackets was understandable. Not entirely justified, but understandable.
Jamie: The look on the blue team members says it all. HOW.
Brian: Yeah I was annoyed that he didn't get a black jacket, but he definitely gave up during service, which is a big no-no

Alison: I think Randy's elimination was more bs, for similar reasons to Fernando's. Josh simply didn't belong in the black jackets.
Eddie: I keep forgetting about this one, but yeah, what he did worse than everyone else, I do not know.
Aziza: Probably the most forgettable one here, and I don't really have much to say because I've watched Season 16 a grand total of 3 times, and I can't STAND it.
Nick: I'm still extremely pissed about this one. He's literally one of my favorite contestants of all time.
Kanae: It's a prime example of the major flaw of the black jacket challenges. Plus, she had 3 pretty solid dishes, and yet she went home.
Adam: NGL, getting my rage back of people going home when they shouldn't or people not going home when they should made me realize how much I missed the show when Season 19 came out.
Steve: I mean, Steve had shown that he wasn't exactly the most talkative, but I think he should've at least gotten a chance at the past over Brynn, who clearly wasn't emotionally mature enough to run a brigade yet.
Mindy: I was just baffled by this. The entire time, I was like "this is when Ileana goes home." aaaaand NOPE.
Donya: In hindsight, this elimination made a bit more sense with the whole "everyone except Jason got a black jacket" moment, but I was beyond infuriated that Jason survived because the entire episode made it look like he was a goner with the just dreadful charity night service.

Watching the raw service cuts from Season 2 services, I really changed my opinion on the unfairness of Virginia over Keith. Yes, Virginia was crap - but Keith really wasn't all that great (Heather was so head-and-shoulders above everyone that season, it was completely obvious by episode 2 who would win). He had a terrible attitude all season and more mistakes than the broadcast edit showed. He was a competent line cook (which is a step up from Virginia, of course) when he cared and was focused, which wasn't really all that often. And the broadcast version of his elimination episode shows him being bad running the kitchen, but it really sells short how abysmal he was - Virginia was nothing special on that and she was clearly better than him. All told it was a shocking elimination from the broadcast, but from the raw, it's totally defensible. Especially since Heather was clearly going to crush either of them anyway.
All that to say, we only see a small portion of what happens during the service. There is so much that gets cut from two kitchens running for 3-ish hours each to fit into a 15-20 minute segment. Some of these unfair ones would probably be entirely justifiable if we could see a more full cut.

Brynn - 13 mistakes, 10 service mistakes (white plate, low rating, lost the challenge, communication, lack of composure, got the order wrong, lack of focus, said there was a wellington in the order, didn't answer chef, looks like she panicked , lack of voice, anxiety got in the way, lack of confidence)
Maybe if Steve's plea wasn't pathetic by his standards (he gave both the best and worst pleas of that season) he woul'dve stayed.

    There are some picks that I don't agree and also could be addition;
Season 6: Van getting eliminated over Suzanne because Suzanne constanly making mistakes, being too cocky, arrogant and snubs and yeah, Van despite his hype personality can be a douche too sometimes, remember when he argued with JP?
Season 9: Besides Jamie and Jennifer who lost to Elise, Elizabeth also getting screwed up on Black Jacket round as she missed her chance to get Black Jacket over Elise. But then again, she screwed on the reunion challenge for always being on Lalaland and she took the word "dumb blonde" to whole other level. And Elise is good for TV
Season 10: Yeah, Brian not getting Black Jacket over Robyn is fair enough but don't forget that Patrick got eliminated over Tiffany, Robyn, and Royce. Robyn and Royce definetly would go back in line but if I was Ramsay, I would definetly eliminated Tiffany as she was not caring to make pizza as she hated kids, argued with Barbie in front of Ramsay on dinner service and has the worst pathetic plea ever, "Like a 9...."
    Patrick deserved another chance.
Season 12: Besides Richard, Ralph also getting screwed up by Gabriel when Gabriel threw him under the bus to nominate him. Ralph has more potential than Gabriel.
Season 16: Koop, Wendy and Devin could stay over Paulie if Paulie didn't snitch to Ramsay over Koop breaking a chair, Wendy and Devin also didn't make mistakes but whatever, Paulie needed to be the last douchebag of Season 16 to stay. I prefer Andrew to get Black Jacket over Paulie to see if his relationship with Heather effect him on Black Jacket round.
Season 20: Morgana over Payton. Payton is absolutely terrible cook from Blue Team and also a terrible cook on Red Team. Morgana is a dominant chef but too bad her voice is not loud enough.

I mean, Jason was obviously kept around longer just for being a villainous personality, still, reality TV at its grandest.

Still hold Sarah (Season 5's Wil) as unfair. The fact that Robert didn't hesitate or meander to say he'd take [Wil's]/Sarah's spot for nomination spoke volumes of how the group had more confidence in her over Seth. But since Ramsay saw a self nomination as weakness vs ownership of mistake we got a different series. Granted, unsure really how much would have changed in the long run but at least Seth wouldn't have molested that poor filet.

Wil -ELIMINATED- 15 mistakes, 13 service mistakes (appearance looked like he had fallen on the floor, delay in garnish, burnt gnocchi delayed team, delay in taking dish to pass, stood still with a hot pan in his hand, shitty service, needed help in his station of his entire team, more delay in garnish, he lacked will and nominated himself)
Seth - 12 mistakes, 6 service mistakes (honey made it too sweet, chef spat it out and said it was the worst thing he had ever tasted, laughed, just peeled carrots and asked a lot of questions during preparation, raw lamb on the pass and badly cuts)

I watched your video you posted on UA-cam and I want to give you my opinions on others that should’ve been in the conversation.
Season 22: Carmen should’ve gotten sent home numerous times even before black jackets cause she always threw people under the bus to make herself look good.
Season 21: Sommer and Dafne were the two weakest chefs left and they somehow got the first two black jackets which was absolutely unfair and on top of that Sakari and Tara who are both better than Sommer and Dafne and yet both got sent home which was unfair. And Alejandro being sent home over dafne in top 3 was also unfair.
Season 19: another one I felt was underrated was Declan getting sent home over Mary Lou. To me she was really annoying.
Season 18: Mia should’ve went home over roe cause she doesnt admit her mistakes unlike roe. Mia ended up being the villain of season 18.
Season 17: another one that wasn’t talked about enough: manda. Yes she did forget the pork on a ticket but she got sent home over Barbie cause why? Ratings. I would’ve sent manda to the blue team and Benjamin to the red team. I didn’t like Benjamin his first time and didn’t like him in all stars.
Season 15: Frank should’ve went home over Chad. Chad was on a downward spiral yes but Frank was blaming other for his mistakes and got Jared and manda kicked out of the kitchen.
Season 7: Jason getting sent home over autumn. Jason was better than autumn, but again ratings.
Season 13: Steve should’ve went home over Katie. Another missed unfair elimination. Steve was basically hated since episode 3 when he was disrespecting Sterling and he and Sterling got into it. I would’ve moved Katie to the blue team and Sterling to the red team.

To me an unfair elimination that no one really talks about was Sara in S2, don't get me wrong she was not a good cook and wasn't very likable. But Virginia literally admitted that she doesn't have what it takes to win and had just been terrible all season. If this was a newer season she would have for sure been eliminated, this alongside Chris and Brad's eliminations were why Ramsey began breaking his own rules sometimes in later seasons.

One I will always hate is Kenneth's from Season 19.
Having an elimination challenge before the first service is stupid on its own, but to not inform the chefs that it IS an elimination challenge until they've already cooked the dishes is downright evil.
Sure, Kenneth probably wouldn't have made it far anyway, considering he left a whole chunk of cheese in his dish, but to eliminate him before he has a chance to do a service or even defend himself is absolutely unfair.

  • @megakoopa-pokemonandmore6152

Personally I think there were some other unfair eliminations:
Sterling definitely should’ve stayed over Santos since he, Steve and Aaron literally tried to sabotage their own team, and honestly all three should’ve been sent home at once.
There’s really no other unfair elimination from season 16 other than Aron because the blue team only nominated him solely just to save their friends.
Emily definitely should’ve gotten a black jacket in young guns and it probably should’ve been a final 6.
Jillian should’ve won season 8 since she was one of the very few that was actually good that season and had a good personality.
Raneisha should’ve stayed at least one more episode since it was a good service for both kitchens and Brad had already left the competition just minutes earlier.
Even Adam’s elimination is the one everyone talks about, I just think Nikki’s was just more unjustifiable

I've always theorized that Gordon usually has a good idea of who his final 2-3 chefs are gonna be pretty early on, so at that point who gets kept longer outside of those matters less and at that point he and the producers just keep the people who will help get better views.

Most of them, I can agree. Sure, some of them are not really unfair, but of course we need to pick one for the season. However, there are some I disagree. For Season 6, I would say the most unfair elimination is Van. Sure he had a bad night, but Suzanne should have gotten eliminated over Van. Van deserved to make the Top 5. But I do agree that Jim does care. He is just a calm, collected, laid back guy.
For Season 8, I still believe that Curtis' elimination is the most unfair elimination. He sucked on the sushi challenge, yet despite knowing this, Chef Ramsay put Curtis on the Sushi station anyways, where of course, didn't work out. And Curtis wasn't nominated. He was set up to lose. It definitely wasn't his fault. If he was put on a different station, he could have done better and would have survived. Yeah, both Gail and Vinny had a bad night in the Final 7, but it was Gail's first time up for elimination, and Vinny did worse than Gail this competition, so it made sense.
For Season 9, I can agree that Jaime's elimination was unfair (along with Elise getting the Black Jacket over Elizabeth), but to me, Jennifer's elimination is the most unfair elimination of that season. Sure, Jennifer had a bad night, but Elise was worse (17 dinner service mistakes), and she have been eliminated long ago. Jennifer only got eliminated because Elise "manipulated" Paul and Will. Elise should have gone home, and Jennifer should have made it to the final 3. The reasons I quoted "manipulated" is because there is a chance that Paul and Will did not do it because of Elise. They probably did it because they find Jennifer to be a threat to them and they feel that if they eliminate her now, they would wipe the floor with Elise and Tommy and make it to the final 2. It did work as Tommy got eliminated, Elise got eliminated, and Paul and Will would make it to the finals, with Paul winning it all.
For Season 10, I understand why people thought it was unfair for Brian to get eliminated over Robyn, but to me, Brian had a really bad service and did worse than Robyn, so it made sense. However, the most unfair elimination to me was Patrick getting eliminated over Tiffany. Patrick was good in the beginning, but he started to fall as time went on. If you remember the night Patrick got eliminated, it was in the infamous episode where the red team drama was at its peak. The Red team did horrible, they focused on fighting more than completing service (on KIDS NIGHT BY THE WAY!), and got kicked out. For the Blue team, only Patrick and Royce struggled and both were kicked out. But for the rest of the Blue team, they did good, they completed service, and they even finished the Red Team's service. The Blue Team DEFINITELY had a better service than the Red Team, yet for some reason, both teams lost. So not only was it bullshit the the blue team lost, but elimination was even worse. Robyn had an epic plea, and Royce did pretty ok. Patrick, he made a good plea. Not as good as Robyn (and Clemenza), but he showed he cared and wanted to stay. It was definitely believable. But Tiffany,..........she had the worst plea in Hell's Kitchen, saying on a scale of 1-10, she cares like a 9. A 9. Everyone knows that if you are asked that question, you say 10 or higher (Carmen definitely got it right). If you say lower than 10, it shows your full effort isn't in it. In any other elimination, a plea like that would get someone eliminated. Tiffany had the worst plea, Patrick had a good plea. And yet, Patrick would be the one to go home. It was bullshit, and Patrick should have made it to the Top 10 over Tiffany, who was CLEARLY the worst chef that night. There's a reason why Patrick returned to the finals instead of Tiffany.
For Season 11, I do agree that Michael's elimination was unfair. Michael should have stayed over Zack. But to me, the most unfair elimination that season was Anthony. Anthony was perfect until that episode. He had one mistake, and he was eliminated over a guy who made numerous mistakes. And it was all because the producers wanted the Season 11 Blue Team to be the worst team in history. It worked as Zack got eliminated, and Jon would become the only male to get a Black Jacket. Anthony should have gotten a Black Jacket, and he will definitely go down as the best chef to never get a Black Jacket.
For Season 15, I still believe Hasan's elimination is the most unfair, but I do agree with Eddie's elimination as well. He was good in the beginning (and was definitely the best of the worse in the double elimination night), and event though he struggled the night he got eliminated, it was very minor. They should have either done a fake elimination or a team swap.
For Season 16, I don't know about Aziza's elimination. She was definitely a forgettable chef, and I would need to watch that service over to figure it out. But the most unfair elimination that season is definitely Aaron. Aaron did nothing wrong that night, yet he was nominated because of "age and experience". Normally, when someone gets nominated for that, Chef Ramsay would deny it and then roast the team (Don being a perfect example). But somehow, Aaron got eliminated. Johnny should have gotten eliminated that night, especially since he got eliminated 2 services later. Either have a fake elimination or send Aaron to the red team. I know he would have thrived on the red team and he would have done better with a team that believes in him. I know they would rather have him instead of Andrew and Matt. How far he would have gone if he was on the red team, we'll never know. But speaking of Season 16, I would also say that Pat and Koop's elimination was unfair. Matt should have gone home over Pat, especially since Matt had the worst night and Pat only made 1 mistake. 1! And even if Matt stays, at least have the team nominate Genaro instead of Pat. Especially since Genaro would be the next to go. Pat was only eliminated due to "age." They want to get rid of the most experienced and the least experienced, and Pat would definitely go down as the best chef to get eliminated first. As for Koop, he had a bad night, but Paulie did worse, and he was inconsistent. Plus, Koop did well. Plus, Paulie got nominated more than Koop. The only reason why Koop was eliminated was because Paulie threw him under the bus by saying he was smashing chairs in the dorm. Normally, it doesn't matter since Chef Ramsay made it clear in Season 13 that he doesn't care what happens in the dorms, yet somehow, Koop got eliminated. Paulie should have gone home. At least Koop made it back for the finals (instead of Matt)
Season 17's elimination is not only the most unfair elimination of the season, but the most unfair elimination in the ENTIRE SHOW! Eliminated because your dishes were judged by executives? EXECUTIVES!! Nick should have gone to the finals, and Nick SHOULD HAVE won.
As for Season 22, I can understand why Donya's elimination was unfair. Donya did better than Jason, who was definitely inconsistent. But that night was charity night, and it requires leadership. And if you hear Donya, you barely hear anything. She is usually vocal, but that night, she was like Melissa during service, barely noticeable. Jason was more vocal that night, even though he was the worst chef. To me, I didn't think it was unfair. Sure, I would have preferred Jason to leave over Donya, but why she got eliminated made sense. Also, I didn't think Jason threw Chef Christina under the bus. I think he simply just made a mistake and missed the instructions on the oven.
