We aim to please!! We have gotten several requests for help in understanding how we plan our trips. This was an easy one to pull together thanks to the GAP Trail Guide. When I get it together, the next one is our cross-country bike/RV trip planning. That planning has been a lot more challenging.
Great video! I would also recommend that everyone take their bikes to a professional mechanic just before your ride and have them tune it up so that it is in perfect working order. Along with that, carry spare tubes and learn how to change a flat tire. It’s not that tough but it is one of the more common issues that can arise. And yes, like you said, buy the TrailGuide! It’s excellent. 😊

Hi. Thanks for watching and for your kind comments. As far as restrooms along the trail, there are a lot of little towns and facilities. I can't say how often you see them, but it wasn't a problem for us. We are planning on a video on our bikes, but need to wait for the weather to get a little better to get outside to do it. Wonderful video on how to plan. The B&B’s looked wonderful, great ride. How much battery did you have left after each ride?? I can imagine you may have used more on the uphill portion than say the 58 mile day. Have you ever used all your battery??
We never had a minute where we were worried about running out of battery. But our bikes will go 90 miles on a charge (in Low of course). The second day I did spend a lot of time in the 2nd assist level as it was a long climb uphill. We've never run out yet, but these 58 mile days are the farthest we've ridden. Thanks for watching!

@@FollowThomas I don’t know that I can advise on that. We picked early June because it seemed like the time to go. It was plenty warm enough as we had short sleeve shirts and shorts. We had a day of rain, but it didn’t stop us. Randy reminded me that the advantage was there weren’t a lot of people on the trail, which we liked. We rode parts of the GAP in October 2020 and it was much more crowded. Given the way the weather has been this winter, it’s likely to be 90 degrees in May!!
We are with you -- no sleeping on the ground and worrying about lighting a little camp stove for us!! We enjoyed the B&B's we stayed at. If you wanted to make it a 3-night ride instead of the 2 we did, there are a lot of other places to stop. I'd suggest the GAP trail guide as your first point of reference. Thanks for watching.

Hi, Not sure I understand the question - why didn’t we go the additional 184 miles on the C&O? Because we only wanted to ride the GAP on this trip. We do not have a spare battery. We get up to 90 miles on a change and we charged every night. Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed the video. My wife and I got ebikes at Christmas and are thinking about this trail. What type, if any, safety equipment did you take (ie extra tubes, pump, wrenches, or anything else)? Thanks!
We always have bike tools -- wrenches, etc. We did have a small pump, but other than that we didn't take any extra safety items with us. Maybe that wasn't the smartest thing??? Thanks for watching.
Hi. We get up to 90 miles on a charge, of course, depending on how much time you spend in the lower assist mode. We didn’t have a second of worry on this ride. We bought our Gazelle Ultimate C8’s because we wanted the longer distance on a charge. Thanks for watching!

Glad to hear you are going to make the trip. We really enjoyed it. We didn’t stay in Pittsburgh the night before. We stayed about an hour north as we rode the Allegheny River Trail the day before.

Yes. Our batteries can take us 90 miles if we stay in ECO mode. We rode no more than 60 miles a day when we rode the GAP so we had plenty of battery to take it up a notch for the few long hills. Also because we went from PIT to Cumberland the last 15 miles we literally straight downhill!!
